I have been here 3 times. The help is wonderful. The 2 FEMALE OWNERS (wink wink) are ALWAYS YELLING. THIS IS NO SPA. RATHER A RIP OFF CHAMBER. They do NOT STERILIZE equipment. Loooooveeeeeee this place. It's so hard trying to find a decent salon in the city but I found it luckily around my office. Came in yesterday for a sns nail dip w/ extension w/ pedicure. Was not disappointed, these ladies were very nice and patiently helped me to decide on a color. I even took their recommendations and they were spot on. This place was nice, peaceful, and comfortable. The woman who did my nails (apologies I forgot her name) she took her time and she paid attention to every detail, I literally didn't have to say anything. Only one nail didn't dry and instead of rushing, she took her time in making sure my nails came out perfect. Everything here was clean and they quickly cleaned up after every service. My coworker raves about this place, not for the cleanliness or how awesome it is, but the cost and the work they do for the price. So I went to try it out. Her pricing is $27 for gel mani...I was told it was $32. I did read on reviews of the fluctuating prices, not acceptable for a business. Also what was weird was that she didn't ask if I wanted round/square, cut or push back for cuticles...on top of back, the convos in mandarin going back and forth the whole time. I got pink and glitter, the gel was on my skin and was cured that way. I was told from Paintbox it shouldn't be done this way as it would cause lifting. We shall see in a week if it lifts. The side of my nails were buffed AFTER the gel was cured and finished, causing parts of the nail missing color since it was buffed off. And what's the point of sealing the gel at the tip of the nails if you are going to buff it off? My pinky was so thick on one end that it looks uneven. And my index finger has polish on my skin which I didn't even notice until now as I'm writing this review. I also got cut on my thumb and 2 of my nail beds are sore to the touch. Cleanliness wise, not the best. I think the sanitizer box is literally for show. I saw her rinse the tools she used on me and place back into the same container with other tools to be used later. On top of that, the buffers are all used on different customers... It wouldn't be so bad if attention to detail was a bit more meticulous and without finishing with buffing. I've never had that before unless it was unevenly distributed (ridges and missing polish) and on the skin. I literally walked home, which btw, I live 2 minutes walking distance, and this is what happened. This place is so inexpensive, while the service is good and there's plenty of space to go with friends!! It's just $11.5 for a manicure, but my technician took her time and did a nice job. It's ~$30 for a manicure and pedicure and they also did a nice, thorough job. It's a clean place and there's plenty of space to go with a group. I was able to make a reservation in advance and they were actually ready to give us our treatments on time- I've struck out with that like 3 times in this area, so it's a great find for groups! Dropped by here after reading the Yelp reviews and for the $20 combo. The salon is really conveniently located next to the subway, so its not too hard to get to. I came during the day on a weekend, and they had enough staff for walk-ins. They have the typical pedicure massage chairs and service is friendly and efficient. The experience wasn't very memorable, both on the negative and positive side. I've been coming here for the past 6 months since I moved from LA to NYC. Cathy, is the only person that does my acrylic nails. She doesn't talk much but that's what I like about her. I always get an acrylic fill with gel and a pedicure. Price is around $60 not including tip. I like that fact that they do acrylic nails here and their gel color section is pretty darn good. They have a wide variety of glitter colors that I'm in love with! However, I'm not thrilled about the pedicures. I feel rushed and I think they don't do the best job as in they are not very thorough. They spend only like 20 minutes total on my feet. I guess its because in NY everyone is such in a rush rush rush to get somewhere but when I'm getting my nails done or a pedicure, I will make time for that and I expect them to take their time and do a good job. Tip: I would recommend making an appointment. If you walk-in, you risk going at a bad time and having to wait. Lots of girls come in here for regular manicures or gel manicures and they seem to get them in and out pretty quick so if this is your thing then this might be the place for you. read more

I'm really unhappy with my service. I got a full acrylic gel set on Thursday with Andy and he was amazing! I was serviced quickly and he did my nails beautifully. However, just 4 days later, one of the acrylic nails chipped off while I was getting in a car. I've never had that happen to me in all my life of wearing acrylic nails. I was able to go today to get them fixed but Andy wasn't there. Someone else did my nails and they're horrible. She cut my finger and it started to bleed. She was rushing the whole service. On top of that, instead of using gel polish like I originally had, she used regular nail polish and let me go under the gel machine? The colors are completely off and don't match. She also didn't shape them into a coffin shape like the rest of the nails. My nail now hurts. This is such a terrible experience. To get the nail fixed was free with an optional tip, but unfortunately, I didn't feel this service warranted a tip. I always tip well but this experience was extremely awful. They definitely charge five dollars for gel removal. My primary concern is the customer service. The ladies who work here all speak Mandarin, and they're constantly talking about their customers. You would think that they'd see me and maybe consider that I speak Chinese. However, they were saying that customers were rude while doing their nails, and also, commenting on their appearance. They were very nice to fit me in their schedule even if i didn't make an appointment. I recommend making an appointment with them though because they get super busy during the afternoon. After reading many of the reviews on here I decided to go here with high hopes. Prices were great, as well as the woman who did my pedicure. But when it was time for my manicure the woman doing my manicure had no idea what I meant when I asked her to make my nails more pointed, she instead after being told multiple times filed down the top of my nails leaving them oval shaped. I then showed her a very simple design & she was more concerned with the price of it than I was and left to get who I assume was the owner who just spoke to me ask if I didn't know it was going to cost extra. Earlier while getting my toes done I asked her if they had the nail jewels & she told me yes but when I asked the "owner" she told me no in a very rude way. My nail technician didn't know how to do the moon shaped design I requested so the woman from the first chair did my whole manicure. She had a terrible attitude & kept telling me that I needed a fill-in when I knew that my nails had not grown out enough for one. The "owner" also followed the nail tech over to where I was sitting & they both argued over my nails before she started. She left my nails sloppy, and the polish has bubbles in it. I also asked this nail tech to make my nails sharper & she kept saying that it would cost extra although I told her that extra was fine she still ignored my request. After letting my nails dry I thought I was finally done with my frustrations at this nail salon I was about to walk out with the sandals given to me so that my toes would dry the "owner" yelled & said I could not take them so I gave them back & watched her put them in the box where they keep the rest of the sandals for the rest of their customers to use. I find that disgusting to know someone else's feet have always been in the sandals I wore. I paid $30 for a manicure with a design & pedicure that I had a terrible time receiving. read more

Thanks to all my fellow Yelpers here, I called 2 hours ahead and managed to get a spot with the infamous Mary, who actually is the only non-Asian/Chinese person working at Yo Yo Spa that night. Which brings me to another point - these employees were totally gossiping among themselves the entire night in Chinese. Especially when this one dude came in and wanted a foot massage and everyone was trying to dodge it - hilarious, but a little rude at the same time. Mary was as everyone says - very thorough with my foot and hand cleaning and did not cut my cuticles to the point of pain, which unfortunately, some nail salons have done. My finger nails were painted in a light opaque pink and was very evenly coated on all of my fingers which can be hard since I have ridges in my nails, Feet felt clean and she took care of my cracked heels. Everything was very cleanly done, all for $21 for a mani and pedi! I did not once feel dirty at Yo Yo Spa, which is really important. Like any other nail salon, I wouldn't expect top-notch service. However, at Yo Yo Spa, you can get your nails done NICELY for a very reasonable price, especially in NYC. read more

I'd been wanting to check this place out after reading the positive Yelp reviews. Stopped in yesterday after work and "Coco" did my mani & pedi. I honestly don't think this gal smiled once. She was a lil rough during the pedi and at one point as she was cleaning beneath my big toe, I had to pull my foot away and ask her to take it easy. Aside from that, it was okay. I let my nails dry for 20 minutes. About 10 minutes in, I'd applied some of their quick dry stuff. Didn't help, lol. Unfortunately on my way home, a couple of my fingernails still got a lil messed up. The Essie polish that I'd chosen was thick and streaky. A lil polish thinner woulda helped. I'd meant to take my Color Club "Harp On it" polish but forgot to pop it in my bag that morning. Oh well. I love how my toes came out. Fingers are okay, too, smudges and all. Would I return. Everyone that works here is friendly and has a positive attitude, which is unlike many of the other nail salons I've visited. My nail technician was very detail oriented and made sure my nails were perfect before sending me to the dryer. The salon itself is clean and has a modern decor. The place is completely packed for manicures at 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon. In addition, they have a frequent customer card that you can redeem for a discount once you fill it up! The lack of hospitality and seating area made my experience less than relaxing, which is part of the experience of getting your nails done. Decided to get a mani and pedi while visiting a friend. We were seated quickly and the place was clean. They had a really nice collection of colors. My only complaint was being rushed through the gel manicure that I got. I didn't even have each layer under the light for more than 30 seconds so it smudged right after being done. My nail tech added another layer to my 2 fingers that were messed up, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I have to down-grade after a recent bad manicure. I get the buff after the manicure, which they charge extra for. This time it was not a glossy-buff, but more matte-finish. The technician that buffed my nails last time was sitting just next to my current technician, and I said that he did a better job last time, but she wouldn't ask how he did it. The current technician tried several times to correct, but it was never right. Even the manager stopped over and said that is the best they can do. They really tried to make it right, but still the previous technician never spoke up as to his technique, even though he heard our conversation. I'm already upset that as a regular customer, they charge for the nail buff, when I never get color polish. That's gender-discrimination, in my opinion. I should tell them to add color, then remove color every time, as that is included in the price for women. Ridiculous! Having a technician buff my nails, has to be less labor and certainly less product than removing color and then coloring my nails, and yet they charge me extra for the buff only. Also, I'm not happy when I see customers dogs running around and barking in the salon. I know that it's allowed, but it's not good for business. Additionally, they have a gas/smoke detector that is constantly chirping in their rear stairwell for over a year. They need to replace the battery! It is ear piercingly loud and annoying when trying to relax. They all ignore the sound. This has to be a code violation, I would think. I won't be returning and I'm taking my business elsewhere after years of loyalty. Sad. read more
