This place is so cute! Has a special place in my heart as it was one of me and my now husband's first dates. Lots of flavors of hard scoop Guernseys to choose from, or dole whip if you're not feeling dairy. Staff has always been friendly to us and quick. Seating area outside for nice days, they're right by the railroad tracks so if you're lucky you may get to see a train for entertainment while you eat your treat. Parking is typical Royal Oak (read: usually a pain). read more

Very nice and chill (get it) ice cream spot serving Dole whip, an assortment and wide variety of different ice cream flavors, and also beverages like water, pop and more. Service was excellent, very friendly/attentive and prompt, and the internal ambiance was cool (get it, again) with many historical prints of photos on the wall, and cooler temperatures (very welcome as it was quite hot outside). A nice spot in Royal Pak definitely worth checking out! read more

The girls were sweet, they allowed me to try so many samples which were all delicious, cute little spot. How have I never been here before! It's Definitely a spot that'll quench your appetite after the spa. They were a bit rushy, because they were closing up. I tried 2 yummy flavors, there was a piece of paper in the inside... So yeah, that was weird, but other than that, check em out when you're in the area they have a lil bit of something for everyone shakes sundaes, you name it! read more

Stopped in here tonight at Arts, Eats, and Beats! Such a good spot to grab some ice cream! The custard is amazing (both chocolate and vanilla). Even though it was busy because of the festival, the service was quick. Great ice cream spot! read more

I just have to give a huge shoutout to the manager, Brie. Throughout the summer, she was there every single time we visited. She was always friendly, greets everyone with smile (and sometimes a joke) and you could tell she enjoys herself. She recently made me a Spooky S'mores Parfait, and not only was it absolutely adorable, but also incredibly delicious. You can tell how much heart she puts into everything she makes. Brie has such a great attitude and clearly loves what she does -- she's always smiling, friendly, and takes real pride in her work. You can tell her and the other employees have fun working together and doing what their doing. It's so nice to see people who genuinely enjoy making people happy through what they create. The parfait looked amazing, tasted even better, and Brie's positive energy made the whole visit extra sweet! Keep up the good work. read more

Golden cone is the cutest mom and pop ice cream shop downtown royal oak. They are only open in the summer though. They use guernsey farms dairy so I feel good about shopping local, plus it's really high quality. I have been bummed because they used to carry my favorite flavor- peanut butter cookie dough and I haven't seen it in a while. I have been getting lavender honey in the meantime, which is good but miss my pb cookie dough! read more

Golden Cone is a cute little shop in Downtown Royal Oak. I've been here around 4 times with my sister. Although the shop is cute, the staff is always incredibly friendly and the service is quick - there's always just a "meh" feeling about the ice cream. The custard is more of a frozen cool whip consistency and dim flavor - it never truly hits the spot. The hard scoops are okay, but the flavors, again, just don't hit the spot for us. Maybe it's us and our insane sweet tooths, who knows. read more

This is by far one of my favorite ice cream places. They have so many different flavors and they are all amazing. I usually get the lavender and blue moon, but they didn't have the blue moon when I went yesterday. Instead I got the pistachio and lavender and they were both so yummy together. The lavender taste is subtle and not overpowering, which I love. My friend ordered the lavender and the white chocolate russian latte and she loved both of them. She said the latte flavor was a very subtle coffee flavor and that it was delicious. I'm definitely going to try that one next time. The workers were very kind and it was pretty busy. I loved that they opened up a window instead of having people come inside. I know the interior is pretty small. I am already craving their ice cream again and I can't wait to be back! Very very amazing staff. They let us in 10 minutes prior to closing even though I told them to kick us out if they had to but they said no. So far one of my favorite places to get a basic cone of custard! Staff always welcoming and so make ice creams to choose from! Though I go after the custard. On a warm, sunny day you're walking down the street and see a few people standing in line for.. ICECREAM! I never knew this place was here.. but of course my toddler saw icecream & had a full on panic attack that could only be treated with chocolate chip cookie dough. The best part is there's a little outside window to order form or you can go inside. There's a few little tables and a bench nearby. They have both icecream and frozen yogurt. Loved it! I love their McGuire's Irish Mint in a cup. The big chunks of dark chocolate are crunchy and a nice balance to the creamy mint ice cream. My hubby and I fight over the dark chocolate chunks. We share a cup to spread out the calories and if I can I take first dibs at the bowl so I can eat as many chunks possible and leave a few for my hubby. He claims I only left him one last week, wasn't my intent if I did, but his claim is questionable at best. Enjoy an ice cream and a stroll around downtown. read more

We stopped in after the Royal Oak Taco Festival. The staff was friendly, even though they were super busy. The ice-cream is what really matters though and it was delicious! I had the snickers ice-cream and I certainly made a good choice! It had a couple small chunks of snickers, (could have had a few more) lots of gooey Carmel and the ice-cream itself was creamy and wonderful! If you are anywhere near Royal Oak, make sure you stop in for a treat! read more

We come here often, it's an easy walk. I am not a huge fan of custard, which is my only downfall is they don't have other soft serve options expect for a dairy free one. (I should order it one day). Their ice flavors are phenomenal and they have these special ice cream cookies which also look amazing. They serve Guernsey ice cream which is a great brand and they have a large variety of flavors. read more

Loved this place! It's a cute hidden gem. I had the coffee mocha chip along with a scoop of butter pecan in a waffle cone. It was so flavorful, worth the $6, and it was huge! Super cute little spot in Royal Oak. Came here on recommendation of a friend after eating at Cafe Muse. They actually didn't open for another 20 minutes so I went to have coffee at Atomic to stall for time and I'm so glad I waited! Delicious flavors of ice cream and great custard!! I got the vanilla custard with butterscotch dip, Oreos, and Andes mints. The custard legit doesn't melt, it's amazing. The owner was incredibly nice and chats with everyone that comes in. I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice-cream! Best local shop for scoops by far. Lots of yummy flavors, great staff and a few seats inside and out if you don't want to walk around "The Oak" and show your cream off to others. They carry Guernsey Ice Cream, which has quickly become our fav brand since moving to Michigan. I love the Detroit Grand Slam and Grandpa's Blueberry. Highly recommend. Nice little place, very busy. I wanted to sample the custard but they don't have sample cups. The worker said she can build a custard cup and if I didn't like it I could exchange it. I tried the custard, it was ok, not bad but nothing too spectacular. I did not send it back. read more

Their vegan ice cream is out of this world ever since they changed their base from rice milk to coconut and pea protein. It's so creamy and the best vegan ice cream I ever had. Follow Treat Dreams on social media where they post their updated weekly flavors. Occasionally they have bizarre flavors like Lobster Bisque, Lemon extra Virgin Olive Oil and Bacon. Lol. They are most famous for their Kookie Monster flavor...a nostalgic blue color that's favorite of both kids and adults. You can find their food truck at various events in the area, food truck rallies at the Royal Oak Farmers Market and Urbanrest Brewing Co. Treat Dreams now shares its space with 4 other food vendors in Ferndale's first food hall called Pavilion Street Market. They also sell their ice cream by the pint and i'm kicking myself I didn't get any during my last visit to enjoy at home.

She acted like she hated kids and every order she was making for people was wrong and instead of apologizing to everyone for it, she was very unpleasant and told people that would have to pay for a new order if they wanted it fixed. My youngest ordered 2 scoop cone with sprinkles and she put a scoop in a bowl with a empty come on top!!! No sprinkles. UNBELIEVABLE that people like this are ALLOWED to serve anyone let alone small children!!! We won't be back.

I found that later in the day, it can be a bit difficult to get seating for more than two people, but there are plenty of benches around the area, which makes it a convenient location. The employees are always responsive, and give great recommendations for food and beverages! Today, I got a spinach feta pastry and, my personal favorite, the cardamom rose latte. The pastry had a great texture and flavor to it, especially when warmed up. The cardamom rose latte was superb as always.

Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the drinks. The coffee flavorings tasted inexpensive and artificial, which took away from the overall experience. I also ordered an iced tea and later found out they don't actually brew iced tea--they simply pour hot tea over ice. As a result, all of the ice melted almost immediately, leaving me with a lukewarm drink and forcing me to go back for more ice. While it's a nice place to hang out, I would probably return for the atmosphere rather than the beverages.
