The girls were sweet, they allowed me to try so many samples which were all delicious, cute little spot. How have I never been here before! It's Definitely a spot that'll quench your appetite after the spa. They were a bit rushy, because they were closing up. I tried 2 yummy flavors, there was a piece of paper in the inside... Stopped in here tonight at Arts, Eats, and Beats! Such a good spot to grab some ice cream! The custard is amazing (both chocolate and vanilla). Even though it was busy because of the festival, the service was quick. Great ice cream spot! read more

I just have to give a huge shoutout to the manager, Brie. Throughout the summer, she was there every single time we visited. She was always friendly, greets everyone with smile (and sometimes a joke) and you could tell she enjoys herself. She recently made me a Spooky S'mores Parfait, and not only was it absolutely adorable, but also incredibly delicious. You can tell how much heart she puts into everything she makes. Brie has such a great attitude and clearly loves what she does -- she's always smiling, friendly, and takes real pride in her work. You can tell her and the other employees have fun working together and doing what their doing. It's so nice to see people who genuinely enjoy making people happy through what they create. The parfait looked amazing, tasted even better, and Brie's positive energy made the whole visit extra sweet! Keep up the good work. read more

Golden cone is the cutest mom and pop ice cream shop downtown royal oak. They are only open in the summer though. They use guernsey farms dairy so I feel good about shopping local, plus it's really high quality. I have been bummed because they used to carry my favorite flavor- peanut butter cookie dough and I haven't seen it in a while. I have been getting lavender honey in the meantime, which is good but miss my pb cookie dough! read more

Golden Cone is a cute little shop in Downtown Royal Oak. I've been here around 4 times with my sister. Although the shop is cute, the staff is always incredibly friendly and the service is quick - there's always just a "meh" feeling about the ice cream. The custard is more of a frozen cool whip consistency and dim flavor - it never truly hits the spot. The hard scoops are okay, but the flavors, again, just don't hit the spot for us. This is by far one of my favorite ice cream places. They have so many different flavors and they are all amazing. I usually get the lavender and blue moon, but they didn't have the blue moon when I went yesterday. Instead I got the pistachio and lavender and they were both so yummy together. The lavender taste is subtle and not overpowering, which I love. My friend ordered the lavender and the white chocolate russian latte and she loved both of them. She said the latte flavor was a very subtle coffee flavor and that it was delicious. I'm definitely going to try that one next time. The workers were very kind and it was pretty busy. I loved that they opened up a window instead of having people come inside. I know the interior is pretty small. I am already craving their ice cream again and I can't wait to be back! Very very amazing staff. They let us in 10 minutes prior to closing even though I told them to kick us out if they had to but they said no. So far one of my favorite places to get a basic cone of custard! Staff always welcoming and so make ice creams to choose from! Though I go after the custard. On a warm, sunny day you're walking down the street and see a few people standing in line for.. ICECREAM! I never knew this place was here.. but of course my toddler saw icecream & had a full on panic attack that could only be treated with chocolate chip cookie dough. The best part is there's a little outside window to order form or you can go inside. There's a few little tables and a bench nearby. They have both icecream and frozen yogurt. Loved it! I love their McGuire's Irish Mint in a cup. The big chunks of dark chocolate are crunchy and a nice balance to the creamy mint ice cream. My hubby and I fight over the dark chocolate chunks. We share a cup to spread out the calories and if I can I take first dibs at the bowl so I can eat as many chunks possible and leave a few for my hubby. He claims I only left him one last week, wasn't my intent if I did, but his claim is questionable at best. Enjoy an ice cream and a stroll around downtown. read more

We stopped in after the Royal Oak Taco Festival. The staff was friendly, even though they were super busy. The ice-cream is what really matters though and it was delicious! I had the snickers ice-cream and I certainly made a good choice! It had a couple small chunks of snickers, (could have had a few more) lots of gooey Carmel and the ice-cream itself was creamy and wonderful! If you are anywhere near Royal Oak, make sure you stop in for a treat! read more

We come here often, it's an easy walk. I am not a huge fan of custard, which is my only downfall is they don't have other soft serve options expect for a dairy free one. (I should order it one day). Their ice flavors are phenomenal and they have these special ice cream cookies which also look amazing. They serve Guernsey ice cream which is a great brand and they have a large variety of flavors. read more

This little shop in Royal Oak is serving some of my favorite ice cream flavors mashed up together. Loved this place! It's a cute hidden gem. I had the coffee mocha chip along with a scoop of butter pecan in a waffle cone. It was so flavorful, worth the $6, and it was huge! Super cute little spot in Royal Oak. Came here on recommendation of a friend after eating at Cafe Muse. They actually didn't open for another 20 minutes so I went to have coffee at Atomic to stall for time and I'm so glad I waited! Delicious flavors of ice cream and great custard!! I got the vanilla custard with butterscotch dip, Oreos, and Andes mints. The custard legit doesn't melt, it's amazing. The owner was incredibly nice and chats with everyone that comes in. I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice-cream! Best local shop for scoops by far. Lots of yummy flavors, great staff and a few seats inside and out if you don't want to walk around "The Oak" and show your cream off to others. They carry Guernsey Ice Cream, which has quickly become our fav brand since moving to Michigan. I love the Detroit Grand Slam and Grandpa's Blueberry. Highly recommend. I'll admit to having walked by this place a few times this summer thinking they were just another ice cream place. I was wrong!!! Guernsey dairy ice cream and custard made in-house. Great flavor options, adorable interior, and incredibly kind/friendly staff. My friend and I got the Blueberry way ice cream and the vanilla/chocolate twist with jimmies on an evening stroll (catching Pokemon, ha!). We were both very happy with our choices. You can find their food truck at various events in the area, food truck rallies at the Royal Oak Farmers Market and Urbanrest Brewing Co. Treat Dreams now shares its space with 4 other food vendors in Ferndale's first food hall called Pavilion Street Market. Not overly sweet and the sandwich version of this is amazing too (sandwiched between two soft chocolate chip cookies). I also tried the root beer flavor and it tasted like I was eating a delicious root beer float! And I've had the cherry marshmallow flavor which was great: it didn't taste artificial and the marshmallow was a nice touch. It's cool how they have all these unique flavors and I'd love to keep coming back to try more!

There will likely be a line down the sidewalk. It does move along pretty quickly. They have all of your traditional flavors (ie mint chip) and lots of fun ones too (ie. Salted caramel mocha chip). The special seasonal flavors seem to sell out earlier. They also have MLB baseball cap sundaes, for us baseball fans.
