Great yogurt, BAD customer service. The yogurt here is fantastic and it really upsets me that I received bad customer service. I walked in tonight and couldn't even tell who worked there because a group of people were just standing in the corner chatting. I was not greeted but just let it roll off my back and continued on to get my yogurt. After I was finished I walked up to the register and was still not given a hello or even a smile. I proceeded to put my yogurt on the scale and me, not knowing that this place weighs multiple orders together, told the woman that I was paying for my friends' orders as well. She gave me an un-amused look and told me in a rude manner, "They all have to go up there." I'm sorry I wasn't aware because every place I've been to was different. She snatched the money from my hand and dropped the change in my hand, again with no smile... When my friends and I left, they turned around and began to continue the conversation that we must have rudely interrupted. There was no "Have a nice night." No, "Come again soon." If it's one thing that will change my mind about a business, it's definitely the customer service. It's disappointing for a place to have such great frozen yogurt and some of the worst customer service in La Mesa. I will NOT be returning and will definitely take my business to other yogurt shops where I'm given fantastic customer service with a smile. Completely let down. read more

Such a hole in the wall, but man do they have good yogurt! And it's super cheap! I love that they give you the freedom to taste with their little taster cups. I really liked their cookie dough and peanut butter flavors. They're extremely creamy and taste more like ice cream than froyo. I also love that they have oreo "dust" and oreo "chunks." Yogurt Express, you just get me. We will definitely be coming back. My only complaint is that I wish they had more fruit flavors. When we went, there was only blueberry or key lime pie. If your mom owned a yogurt shop down the street, this would be it. The owner of this little joint is as good as it gets: Just like Mom. She's there every night making sure everything runs smoothly and her customers are as happy as kiddo's. If you're a student, it's only 24 cents an ounce or you can just print of a coupon online. OR (my favorite thing to do) you can bring in any competitors 2 for 1 coupon and literally get two for the price of one. My hubby and I have always gotten generous servings and never paid more than $4 total! Now that's a steal! You serve your own yogurt and pile on any as many or as little toppings as you like. They even change some of the flavors, which you can find on their website (yogurtexpress.net). My favorite is the peanut butter...mmmm! No, they don't have tart or fruit...just like Yogurt Mill. I heart Yogurt Express! I will drive to La Mesa from Northpark JUST for Yogurt Express. That's quite the sacrafice for someone who lives in SD! My favorite flavors are: cake batter with sprinkes & peanut butter and chocolate yogurt with receese peanut butter cups. The yogurt tastes just like ice cream, but a little healthier for you. La Mesa, this is your go-to local yogurt shop. Even though they stopped taking competitor coupons, 29 cents per ounce or $6 for a quart is still the best deal in the county. They have a stamp card--buy 10 yogurts, get one free. This place is so good that my friends beg to walk over here whenever they come to visit. It's clean and well-maintained by their friendly staff (no sticky melted yogurt messes or toppings strewn all over the place), with a wide variety of toppings and flavors that change daily (aside from chocolate and peanut butter). Don't know what all the fuss is about. It's decent, it's cheap.... not a great choice of flavors. I like being able to choose from sweets and tarts and everything in-between. Everything was sweet or extra sweet (snickers, butterfinger, peanut butter). My fro-yo was around $1.75 and I handed the girl $2 not realizing right away I had a five. I asked if I could give her the 5 instead and she rolled her eyes at me. I explained that I wanted to be able to leave them a tip, not just some change.... and yet....another eye roll! Rude! Ha-this place is extremely ghetto! I basically fear for my life every time I come here. But my aunt likes it...so I go. Their prices aren't horrible I guess, at a whopping $0.32 an oz. They generally have a pretty good selection of fro-yo. Their toppings just seem a little weak. Give me some fresh fruit, some whip cream, some FRESH FRUIT! lol. And idk, the place isn't actually dirty, but it just feels dirty when you go in. This place is just in the ghetto and needs like a fresher upper or something. I'm not usually a huge fan of sweet (vs. tart) frozen yogurt, but this place has the potential to turn me around. My friend took me here for the first time and damn... self-serve, an abundance of toppings (easily 25+ choices), and so inexpensive I almost wept for joy. We got two medium-sized cups, probably 3/4 full of yogurt and a generous selection of topings, and with my friend's discount card it was less than five bucks for BOTH OF US. Hot damn. I'm lucky if I spend $4 on myself for the same amount of yogurt at Yogurt World on Convoy, my usual froyo haunt of choice. They don't appear to offer tart flavours, but the sweet flavours I sampled at Yogurt Express were subtly so, not sugary in an overwhelming fake ice cream sort of way. But really, bottom-line, you just can't beat the value for money. read more

I do not understand how anyone could give this yogurt shop under 5 stars. It is a neighborhood spot and definitely gives a family feeling for the La Mesa/San Carlos area. Yogurt is ok, only have about 10 Flavors and only one at any given time is sugar free. None are low fat so for people like me that watch their sugar and fat intake, not many choices. In collge my roommates and I had it down to a science to leave home after Friends, get to Yogurt Express, get our frozen yogurt and make it back to plop down in front of the couch by the time Will & Grace started. Now that I'm a little further away from this wonderful yogurt shop I don't go as often, but when I do go (usually after my dentist appointment next door or after a hike up Cowles Mountain, which yogurt totally defeats the purpose of both), I fall in love with the place all over. I don't think I've ever spent more than $3 for frozen yogurt (except the time my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I got a larger serving than normal) and am almost always granted the student discount. I also love that they have the frequent buyer card that earns you a free yogurt. Toppings are always fresh and in good supply. This is like a hole-in-the-wall bar. Not fancy, but it delivers. Prices are cheaper than any other place. Good selection of toppings. Limited selection of flavors on any given day, but they rotate and often mix it up with some oddball flavors. This yogurt place is a pretty iconic San Diego getaway to delicious froyo. Love the flavors they have, and every week they will switch around to unique flavors that taste really amazing. I always watch out for their pineapple flavor because it just tastes top-notch! Their toppings are really good as well with the variety of cereals, nuts, and chocolates, though they don't offer fresh fruit (doesn't bother me that much, but for some it might). In the fro-yo world this place is lacking. Pros- the man in the store was pleasant, store was clean, candy wise, they are few good options and price wasn't bad. Cons- the place lacks any uniqueness. As many report, no fresh fruit, no marshmallow toppings or anything unique past the peanut butter sauce. It just overall didn't impress me. Asked Siri for the nearest yogurt shop and this is where she led me. Was a little dismayed no samples, toppings all individually packaged. Cups of toppings were more than what I sprinkle on top. Most yogurt shops are not still adhering to so many COVID precautions still... Cutest grandson wanted three toppings which were enough to share. Was pretty sure it was going to be expensive as they are also sold by weight. But, it was VERY reasonable. No fancy signs to let you know the calories, nonfat etc. I asked the nice guy at the counter and he said they are all non-fat! If he's lying to me, I don't want to know. No seating. So we took it to the car to eat. BEST frozen yogurt I've ever had. Creamy not watery, flavors that tasted like their description. I like all frozen yogurt but this made me realize what I'd been missing. Sooo, good I'm trying not to think about going again tomorrow.
