This is "Yogurtland" at the Alameda Landing shopping center, in West Alameda. I first reviewed this place during the Covid-19 shutdown, so it's time to update my review. Since then I've been to several other fro-yo places, and learned some fine points of fro-yo from other Yelpers. This place has 8 machines. That's 16 flavors + the twist combinations. More flavors, means more choices. Of course, you can't please everyone. When I was there on Sunday afternoon, the machines were very clean. Something that makes this place different than others is they offer hand sanitizer at the cup station. That's important because everyone who comes thru the door will touch those valve handles. Price per ounce is $0.69, Nov 2023. So take it easy on toppings. There is a little known service fee for enjoying your fro-yo onsite. I wasn't able to get the %, because the cashier didn't know. Yogurtlands have this fee. That's why they ask you...."For here or To-Go?" My fro-yo choices were: rich chocolate, vanilla, coconut, mango, and strawberry. Yogurtland is pretty consistent across the board - you got self-serve frozen yogurt and toppings galore. Flavors are always really good and they rotate them too so you can always try something new. This Yogurtland is located in the shopping plaza where there's plenty of parking around. Don't feel like you have to park on the street right up front. You can drive behind the shop and find a larger lot. When we arrived on a weekend afternoon (not too hot of a day, but not too cold), it was still packed. Families were dining in while others were serving themselves for takeout. There was one person working and they were refilling the topping stations. One thing I noticed that had room for improvement from my visit: it could definitely be cleaner. The toppings area had foods spilled on the floor. Most likely not the staff's fault and since there was only one person working, she probably hadn't gotten to see it yet. But it was a little off-putting when you enter the shop. read more

AMAZING!!! I love this location and this location only. Why? Because they have the best granola EVER. I am super particular with my granola and I've been to probably every Yogurtland in the Bay Area but this place is the best! Their granola is simple; nutty and no extras in it. I wish I knew their granola distributor because it's that good. It tastes like the granola from Vitality Bowls which I loved when I used to work there. I always get a large plain tart with granola and blueberries. My total comes out to around $13 and yes... I do indeed it all myself in one sitting. It's just that good. We came here on National Yogurt Day 2/6/24 when they had the BOGO promo. By the time we came here after dinner (around 7PM or so), they were out of plain tart, mango, cookies & cream, and chocolate hazelnut lava cake. I had strawberry, madagascar vanilla, dutch chocolate, and french vanilla. The Husband had strawberry, madagascar vanilla, cheesecake, and chocolate ice cream. I would rate mine in order of yum-ness: 1 - strawberry - soooo strawberry-y!!! Don't sleep on this flavor! 2 - madagascar vanilla ("mad van") - I normally don't choose vanilla anything because I think it's too "vanilla" (aka "plain"), but this won me over with its clean and pure vanilla taste - it even had flecks of vanilla bean which definitely was a plus! 3 - dutch chocolate - I like dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate, so this fills the bill for me 4- french vanilla - I wanted to see what the difference was between the 2 vanillas, and my preference was for the mad van because the french vanilla tasted a little too "eggy" or custardy. French vanilla is typically made with egg yolks, and this french vanilla was yellow as compared to the mad van, which was white-ish. Another negative for the french vanilla was that it was kinda runny/watery The Husband rated his in this order: 1 - madagascar vanilla 2 - chocolate ice cream 3 - strawberry 4 - cheesecake No comments from him because he usually has no comments about anything. I tried a bit of his cheesecake and it was meh because it really did not taste like cheesecake, or anything else for that matter - The Husband agreed. I didn't even bother to try any of his chocolate ice cream because I'm a purist when it comes to flavors - I would rather have dutch chocolate than choco ice cream (or chocolate covered strawberry, which was available). Because I'm a purist, I typically don't add any toppings at all because it takes away from the froyo flavors that I'm trying to taste/enjoy. When I see others loading up their cups with toppings, I can't help but wonder WHY??? When you add the toppings, all it does is overwhelm the froyo underneath - again.....WHY???? I would rather enjoy the froyo and eat the other doodads separately at a different time. BTW, a girl behind us was contemplating getting the rocket pop sorbet, and of course I gave her my unsolicited advice, which was: Don't waste your money on the sorbet flavors (in this case rocket pop and the citrus one) because you're basically paying for ice. If you're in a froyo place, choose froyo which is creamy, not ice-y. If you want ice-y, go to 7-11 and get a slurpee - besides, ice-y is cheaper at 7-11. At 74cents an ounce at Yogurtland, you bet I'mma get creamy, not ice-y. Lastly, it's a good thing we went when it was BOGO day, because otherwise it would've cost us almost $18 today - it cost us $9.03 altogether. It's funny how mine came out to exactly 12ounces and his weighed 12.2ounces - weird! Yes, the place was neat and clean, and the guy at the register was sweet and pleasant - but I wanted to leave a review of the FLAVORS, which the majority of reviewers previously did not do. read more

My boyfriend and I were craving some froyo and decided to check this place out. It's hard finding a dessert place that closes later during COVID times. When we arrived, social distancing measures were enforced. No samples are given. They swirl and place the toppings for you from afar. The issue we had was they gave us way too much. I wish they had some type of measurement of how much to swirl. We probably got 2-3x the amount we normally would've gotten. You go in and you just pick your cup size, but you really have no control of the portion. My boyfriend asked for a little of the topping, and they still put the whole spoonful of it. They should put less and ask if the customers want more rather than the other way around. We ended up walking away paying $15 for 2 froyo when normally we would've spent no more than $8-9 bucks. I don't mind supporting businesses but I still wish we could've gotten less. We ended up throwing away a good amount. read more

We came here after lunch at Shirasoni for dessert and it was a nice balmy day. The place is clean and comfortable and we pulled two small tables together for our group of 5. The day we came they had about 15-16 flavors, including two ice cream, one sorbet and one soft serve, besides the yogurt ones. VEGAN REVIEW: This location, as of 01/16/2018, has 3 dairy-free flavors: Strawberry Lemonade, Rocket Pop Sorbet, and Piña Colada. Although I appreciate Yogurtland's dairy-free efforts, I did not like any of these flavors. The Strawberry Lemonade and the Rocket Pop were both incredibly sweet, and I just didn't like the way they tasted. Their Piña Colada flavor, made with coconut milk, had the best texture but I also didn't like the way it tasted. I ended up not getting anything. How difficult would it be to have a dairy free chocolate flavor?!? I like this location because they give you 3 sample cups right off the bat and the toppings counter is clean. Location is clean & well maintained but they only offered 1 non-dairy flavor (which was not a flavor that paired well with toppings, unless you're interested in fruit.) I was left searching for options since I was already there. I ended up trying the mocha almond fudge but it didn't appear to be mixed very well. Or, they subbed the Dutch chocolate & hoped no one would notice. Sauces or syrups are no longer offered. Spoons are still great. Probably the most exciting part of the experience. I've been a long time customer of Yogurtland in general (not to any specific location). I love the variety of flavors and toppings, as well as the rewards card. However, a few things that do bug: with such a selection of flavors, I'm surprised there not more dairy-free/vegan options. There was only one the last time I was here. Also, given that the company has closed down a lot of its locations, it's frustrating that the rewards/winnings expire after certain number of days. I have to go out of my way to get to a Yogurtland in the next town over just to use the reward that I earned before it expires. This specific location is in a plaza with Safeway, BBQ, CREAM, Poke, and Panda Express not too far from the Alameda tunnel.
