We recently stopped by Yolie's Mexican Grill in Riverside for some drinks and appetizers, and overall, it was a great experience! The drinks were delicious and the chips and guacamole were definitely a 10/10! The guacamole had such a great flavor, and we really enjoyed it. The ambience was also super cute--the decorations were adorable and made the restaurant feel fun and inviting. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because one of our appetizers never made it to the table. We weren't advised that it wasn't going to be made, so we were a little confused when it never came out. We did arrive around 9 PM and they close at 10 PM, so I completely understand that it was getting close to closing time, but I still would have appreciated being told that the appetizer wasn't going to be prepared. It's unfortunate that they close at 10 PM because I got off work late and was hoping to enjoy some drinks and appetizers with friends. I definitely would love to come back earlier next time. This place does not disappoint. Been many times, the first time was when they first opened. I grew up going to the convenience / liquor store that used to occupy this block. It is interesting to see the ways Riverside continues to change over time. The first time I ever went here, Yoli's was one of the only businesses in the building. Clearly, business is booming and that is a good thing. I do not recommend going on a holiday. For instance, one year we tried to go forgetting it was Mother's Day weekend and waited so long for a table, we just left. But whenever we have sat down and ordered the traditional and homestyle Mexican food we craved, we were not disappointed. From breakfast--the waffle with strawberry and eggs to the mojado asada burrito con salsa verde (green wet burrito with asada) to the fish tacos to the chilaquiles--we've been impressed. The decor is filled with cultural touches and there's a bar. They also have a few seats available on the patio. I decided to keep my order simple. I ordered their gourmet quesadilla with carne asada inside . The quesadilla was a good size and came as part of a combo with choice of 2 sides. I selected the Mexican rice and black beans. It did not come with a salsa, but the waitress asked which one I would like and brought one out for me. The quesadilla was easy to eat - no tough pieces of Carne Asada. The cheese they used was white cheese. I ended up boxing up one piece of quesadilla and the salsa to go. chips and salsa do not come out before the meal, which is fine with me because I don't want to load up on that before I eat. read more

Came here on a Tuesday for a impromptu date night with the wife just because we could. The food was good, the burrito that I had had good flavor and the meat was cooked perfectly. It was also probably the quickest I have ever received food after ordering it which was awesome. I will say, having 88oz of liquid combined with the burrito was a struggle. It was so much to try to consume but we still did it! Our server was fun to be around as well, rolling with jokes and sass. It's the type of service I expect from a bar/restaurant. The food was really good, and I enjoyed the fish tacos. Unfortunately, the service and an extra charge left me disappointed. I asked for a side of sauce which I didn't mind paying for, but it was never brought. When I asked another server, she explained that the fish tacos only come with salsa and mayo mixed in the cabbage, so I simply asked for a little extra mayo on the side. When I got the bill, I was charged $3 for a quarter-sized side of mayo, which I felt was outrageous. I understand charging for extras, but $3 for such a small amount of a condiment seemed excessive. We asked for more limes and the guy told us let me know what else you need before I go. I came here with my boyfriend on a whim because we needed to kill some time and grab some breakfast before an event nearby. This restaurant was totally my vibe. I absolutely loved all the crazy drinks they had and the fun music they were playing. The bartender was our server, and he was really on top of things and crack some jokes along the way I went simple with the ham and egg breakfast and everything tasted great and opted for a large mimosa. I definitely go back if I was back in the area it's a perfect place to go with friends or to celebrate something fun. Another one of those spots where you feel at home as soon as you sit down. We've been in a several times now and are never disappointed. My daughters rave about the their nuggets and fries kids meal. Huge plus if you can kind somewhere with good food and tasty kids meals. I've tried quite few items on their menu but go back to their potato tacos, they are fantastic. The drinks are all tasty too. I had a great experience at this place. It was my first time here. I had the wet burrito ranchero(spicy). It definitely had a kick and full of flavor. The barbacoa in the taco combo was delicious as well. The guacamole was fresh and perfectly made. The drink was really good and even the candy was soft. My family and I have eaten at Yolis 6-7 times in past year...this will be my only review... Most of the food is good, guacamole is good, chips are usually good but we've gotten some stale cold ones before. Salsa is a bit watery but great flavor. Tacos are hit and miss...burritos are good. Ceviche is really good. The AC never seems to be fully working in the restaurant...always feels muggy and warm. I think they got a new bartender....shes is the most customer service oriented person in that entire restaurant. Great job hiring her! Ummm I can't understand how a bottle of domestic beer is $8 ...I would have gotten draft but only had two options and neither I was craving...but $8 for domestic? Cmon Yolis... that's outrageous..especially since you don't allow any splitting checks and add a large gratuity when the service from waitresses is rude ...hopefully the bartender gets a piece if not all. You should allow minimum 2-3 splits for large groups ...almost all restaurants allow it. Sorry to say but won't be back for a while...you need to address the AC issue, pricing, and service. The place looked cool with all of the decor and it seemed pretty lively, so the atmosphere was good. The service and the food, however, were a different story. It wasn't all that busy. A party of about eight or so, a couple of two tops (tables w/two customers), and a couple of people at the bar. But it still took forever to get our drinks and food. We could see the bar from our table, as it's not a huge place, but for some reason we still waited almost 20 minutes just for drinks. We could see that the bartender had walked away from the bar and just didn't come back for a while. When he returned, we thought we'd get our drinks soon, but nope. The server seemed ok at first, then got an attitude when we asked for an update on our drinks. The food was not good. We're not the type to ask for something to be re-made, we prefer to just not eat it. But it's a good thing we don't ask for things to be re-made, because we didn't see our server again for another 20 minutes after we got our food. And we had to flag him down for that. I wish I could say that the drinks were good, at least, but they weren't. Needless to say, we see no reason to go back. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 for the atmosphere and presentation. read more

Before leaving Riverside we decided to stop here and try their carne asada plate. When we stopped in there was no wait time and the staff was friendly and checked on us often. Of course I had to try the Carne asada plate which was amazing probably top 2 carne asada plate. The meat was tender and flavorful. We also got an order of the chilaquiles. The portion was a big size but the dish was okay. There was no wow factor to them but they were okay. Price wise the carne asada plate $25 and the chilaquiles were $17. my wife found this place on TikTok and of course we had to try it. Sorry to say it didn't live up to how she hyped it. The service was really good and they were all nice. The interior is decorated really cool with día de las muertes paintings. The issue I took was with the food. First the eggs came out well over cooked when I ordered over easy. Both the menudo and chilaquiles had too much salt. This may be because I don't ever add salt to my food but it was pronounced in both dishes. My wife agreed it was too salty.
