I've been coming to yolk for over 4 years on and off and loved brunch at all times of day. Within the last few years, they've changed their menu in my opinion for the worse. I'm not sure if they just changed suppliers or not but things have gotten smaller / worse quality while the price has gone up for what arguably is standard breakfast fare. Case in point: the Chicken or Egg Sandwich. Used to be my go to, but after having it recently again after not coming for quite some time it was a disappointment. The chicken cutlet used was thin compared to the thick fried version it had before, everything was a bit beige, and a rather small serving of hash browns accompanied it. I had a standard black coffee alongside it which tasted a bit watered down and my partner has commented that the speciality coffees are not as good as they used to be. Other new additions to the menu aren't exactly what you would expect, for example the Monte Cristo is more a deconstructed version of the Bennigan's classic but it's not obvious unless your waiter tells you. The price is typical of downtown but the food doesn't rise to the occasion and the value proposition for me isn't enough to come back unless something changes. Thats not to say the food is all bad, but seeing what it was prior to their menu change, it's just uninspiring for the price. The service however has remained top tier and every time I have gone I've had fantastic service regardless of if it's a Sunday morning with a hour long wait or a quiet weekday lunch. read more

I asked a woman that I saw at the bottom of the escalator if there was a place nearby to grab breakfast that was quiet so I could get some work done and she recommended Yolk. Excellent choice! I sat in a quiet corner spot near the window. My server was very friendly and understood. I was there to work in addition to eat breakfast. I will say that the coffee was just OK, a bit on the weak side, and so I added some flavored cream which I don't usually do. With that said the breakfast was outstanding! I ordered two eggs that came with two slices of bacon, which was perfectly crispy and good size, along with two tasty sausages. My server recommended I take the French toast which was among several choices as he said this was the most popular choice. Wow! I don't usually order French toast and I'm not that big of a fan, but this was fantastic. Light, flavorful, it was just perfectly delicious. I love this place! Everything on the menu is delicious, service is always quick, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Only downside is the cost. It's quite pricey, and some of the add-ons are deceptive (e.g. paying $3 for pure maple syrup, with no mention on the menu of the pancakes/french toast already coming with syrup). My friend and I stumbled upon this place early in the morning on New Year's Day. We walked right in and sat down. As someone who does not like breakfast food, they did have an intriguing menu. Yum. That's what I have to say for a solid breakfast experience. It must be super popular because they wait time was super long! I think we were waiting outside for at least an hour before we could go in. And then when we finally got in there was a very narrow trail to get to the front. We were packed like sardines. The actual restaurant area where you sit and eat was fine though. It was decently spacious and well lit. I ordered the eggs benedict and substituted it with salmon and I had the French toast on the side. The French toast was pretty delicious even without syrup so you know they did it right! They were pretty perfectly fried. Not too hard not too soft not too milky or eggy and not too oily. Pretty perfect with a light dusting of powdered sugar. I love eggs benedict and it was no different here. Substituting the salmon was the best decision for me. The salmon was nice and had a beautifully smoked flavor. It didn't smell fishy and that led me to believe they cleaned it thoroughly and responsibly. The English muffins were nice..lightly toasted not too hard and not soggy because of the salmon and hollandaise sauce. I need to look up if there is a location in Houston! i'm so serious when i say this is the first restaurant that made me burst into tears because of how bad the food was. i paid 3 extra dollars for my crepes to have strawberries, but when they came out, the crepes were dry and had very few strawberries. i do not want to pay for this meal. the crepes tasted worse than corn tortillas. they had no filling. i think i would've been less upset if the crepes with strawberries were not 20 bomboclat dollars. i ended up ordering some nutella bc the crepes were so dry. +$3 to my bill. genuinely will never return here it's so overpriced and honestly gross. my friends food was bad too but she didn't burst into tears so there's levels to the food quality i suppose. also the server was never present. my real rating was one star but i put 2 for more visibility. terrible experience for wayy too much money. read more

Decided to stop in after finishing a photoshoot. I noticed there wasn't a wait online so we went right over and were sat immediately. Or server arrived not long after being seated and took our drink and entree order. She was very kind and excited to serve. As we waited we noticed it got really crowded in a matter of minutes so our timing was perfect. It was also a bit loud due to so many waiting in addition to so many already seated to dine in but there seems to be plenty seating to include an outside patio area. Once our food arrived and we were pleased with the presentation. I went with the cinnamon French toast with eggs and bacon. Everything had great flavor but the bacon was HEAVILY salted. We put our name on the list and the wait really wasn't bad at all, but we ultimately decided to sit at the bar. The bar is super cool because you can see drinks being made and inside the kitchen. I order the Allstar Combo with 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausage links and 2 crepes. The crepes were so yummy!!! My friend order the smoked salmon benny and they were delicious. I tried the avocado toast with salmon and a single slice of the banana nut French toast. The French toast was really delicious. I probably could have done a whole plate and dealt with the tummy ache. The salmon avo toast was also yummy but could have been a little better. Maybe mashed avo to hold down all the chopped ingredients. I will say the coffee was super disappointing. I have been to Yolk many times but there is something about the Sundance location. It could be because we were sitting by the windows and could watch the foot traffic while enjoying our meal. It could have been our waiter Juan, who was super attentive and made sure we had whatever we needed throughout our breakfast, or it could have been the food, which is consistently good, regardless of location. And the portion size is crazy, which makes the price very reasonable. This time I got the Salmon scramble that had capers. It was so tasty, I got the short stack of their pancakes, which was still 2 huge pancakes. My kid got the lemon blueberry pancakes with the blueberries on the side, which I enjoyed and bacon. My husband got a meat scramble with 3 eggs and cheese, his meal also came with pancakes. We had so much food that we had to get it to go. But not because it didn't taste good. My husband and I came here for brunch following our St.Paddy's 10k and half marathon. We walked in and were seated immediately. We started with the carafe if mimosa.
