Fantastic service!!!!.....but you have got to fix the AC problem around the bar. Summer is coming

With our love for THE TAVERN, we knew we had to check out Little Tavern--and it didn't disappoint. We stopped in around happy hour, and the deals on both food and drinks are hard to beat. We ordered some of our go-to favorites: the Atlantic dip, grilled artichokes, and deviled eggs. We also split a fish taco just to try it. While it's probably not something we'd order again as an entrée, it was still tasty. Our little one was very happy with a generous serving of chicken tenders and fries. We surprisingly passed on dessert this time, but we'll definitely be back to try more. A big shoutout to our waitress, Dayana--she was attentive, kind, and very personable. We enjoyed her. Little tavern on University is good, its the sister to The Taven on Hulen. Popped in for a Wednesday night dinner. Service is good, staff is on point. The chips and queso is good. Its a little different than what you'd expect. The birria tacos are really good. Definitely worth a pop in. Was able to sit on the patio. Weather was good. Definitely enjoyed. FAR out hospitality nails it again. All the FAR out restaurants are great, so naturally the Little Tavern is no exception. It's a take on the Tavern off of Hulen and has a lot of similar items as well as some unique ones. I opted for the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Damn, it was good. Masterfully fried chicken breast with a buffalo sauce that had the perfect tang. The coating was perfect, not too saucy. On top of the chicken was ranch dressing and a slaw. I got an extra side of ranch for dipping, can't go wrong with extra ranch. It was served with their shoe string fries on the side which are dynamite. Washed it down with a beer while sitting at the bar. Restaurant is nice and clean, service is top notch and attentive, management is visible and making sure everyone is being taken care of. Practically perfect in every way, that is Little Tavern. Oh, and do not allow "Little" to distract you! Highly recommend for four (4) reasons: (1) STAFF that is friendly and calm (you'll see) from the host/tess at the door to the attentive wait/bar staff to the manager who talks to guests and busses tables. (2) DECOR that is chic, modern eclectic - I mean how can you not love a place that spotlights Willie Nelson's portrait at the door!! (3) FOOD/BEV options that are classics with bold twists. (4) PRICE bc the offerings and service are much higher value than your bill. TIPA: Check the "sides" menu for some tasty options - house salad is the best we've had in ages; baked potato with brisket is huge and marvelous. ENJOY! read more

Such a good flavorful salad! Lots of different yummy textures, solid price, great portion! Thoroughly enjoyed this. The sweet tea was pretty decent. The whole restaraunt reeked of a smoky smell unfortunately but likely just a one-off thing so don't let that deter you. Also the booth fabric was pretty rough and uncomfortable. The Little Tavern used to be F1 Smokehouse, but they've rebranded. The menu is smaller than the Tavern's menu, but they've brought back some old favorites that you can't get at the Tavern anymore (Brisket Nachos!). The space is small, and it does smell like a Smokehouse, but it's charming. The outside patio is nice. The entire restaurant hosts Happy Hour (not just the bar area), unlike the Tavern. Also, for now at least, it's not busy. I hate that you can't get into the Tavern because of how busy they get, so this is a very nice replacement spot. The food was excellent, just as great as the Tavern. The service though, wow! Kyle was our server, and I'll ask for him every time from now on, excellent! Overall, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be back! read more

Food was so good!! Such fun options for brunch. Unfortunately there was this weird drip from the ceiling. We barely saw our server so never really had the chance to request to move. When we did see her we were more focused on getting our order in and the check when it was time to leave. Decorated super nicely but super cold inside so bring a jacket! read more

Wow. Just so good. This place used to be Austin City Tacos when we lived in FW. We accidentally discovered the new incarnation when we were headed across the street to eat hot chicken. Little Tavern? Could it have anything to do with the Tavern on Hulen?? Where we have spent many a meal? Well yes it can and it was delicious. We had the brisket nachos ($14) and the birria tacos ($18) and they still have that smoker from the Austin City Tacos days and that brisket was perfect. Margaritas were good and the blueberry bread pudding was just crazy good. Service was great and the decor/ambience/music just perfect. Music wasn't blaring loud but nice playlist - Queen, the Cars, the Cure, Talking Heads... All in the background. We live in Dallas now but anytime we're in FW, this will be our new spot! read more

We had a wonderful Sunday brunch at Little Tavern. We had been to this establishment before, but they had changed hands. We knew it was part of a restaurant group that we really like in Fort Worth so we had confidence. Our server was excellent and the food was terrific. A little expensive for eggs and bacon, but the food was cooked exquisitely. We would highly recommend my husband, thought the omelette was as fluffy as could be!
