Hubby and I came here for brunch after church. The place was packed and we had to wait 15 minutes which was not bad for a busy place. The ambiance is nice. Lots of tables and cute pictures. The place is loud but that's because everyone is talking at their table. Our server Trayvon was super nice and very helpful. He gave some good recommendations since this was our 1st time. We ordered a couple of cocktails. I ordered a strawberry lemon drop and hubby had a Bee's Knee. It had Gin honey and lemon. Hubby got the traditional breakfast-chicken apple sausage, sourdough toast and hash browns and scrambled eggs with cheese. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with the gravy on the side. I rather dip the chicken in the gravy verse having it poured on top. My chicken fried chicken came with grits and sourdough toast. The chicken was so good and flavorful. I loved the grits. I also got a side of chicken apple sausage and when I tell you it was so good. It had just right amount of sweetness. This is a place to bring family and friends from out of town. Sunday at 1015am- busy but no wait. That changed with several people waiting around 11am. You can make a reservation if 5+ people in your group. Limited parking right now - looks like another building and hopefully additional parking being constructed next door. Immediately liked the bright modern comfortable vibe when entering. You can see the bar and coffee bars at the back. The downfall of having stuff hanging from ceiling and when choosing your lift fixtures, you have to clean them. I loved the circle lights above the booths. Unfortunately, they were dusty and I kept waiting for it to drop in our food. (Not what I want to be focusing on while eating). Very large menu with lots of great choices for breakfast, lunch, brunch. Cocktails, mocktails, fresh juice also available. I got the CHICKEN BACON RANCH PANINI - it was really good but messy. Arrived sloppy dripping in ranch. I ended up having for fork & knife it. Good bacon, grilled chicken, slices of avocado. Would get ranch on side next time - It tastes like the typical restaurant supply big bucket of blah ranch. They need a house made ranch. The fried okra was really good! MONTE CRISTO - on a croissant. Completely soggy and unable to eat as a sandwich. Strawberry jam on it was a nice different touch. Had to eat with fork & knife. Not one of the better ones in the area. Fries were really good though. We chose Berries & Batter to celebrate my husband's birthday breakfast, and unfortunately our visit ended with a very disappointing experience. While we were there, I observed employees loading whole oranges into the fresh orange juice machine. Several oranges fell onto the floor, and I watched the employees pick the oranges up and place them back into the hopper to be juiced. I asked to speak with the owner but was told the owner was not there. A man who identified himself as the general manager came out. I explained what I had observed. The only question he asked was, "Do you know how many oranges fell onto the floor?" I replied that the number wasn't the issue. My concern was that oranges that had contacted the floor were being put back into the juicer. I did not feel my concern was taken seriously, and I requested the owner's contact information. I did not receive it. Because I believe this is a serious food safety concern, I reported this to the Highland Village Code Enforcement Division for investigation. We were excited to celebrate a special occasion here, but instead we left concerned about the restaurant's food handling practices and the response from management. Based on what I personally witnessed, I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

Atmosphere was great except for their booths had cracks in the seats so if you are wearing a skirt or shorts, it might be a slight bit uncomfortable. Our waitress was fantastic and had some good recommendations. The food was good but nothing exceptional. The online menu is dated. In addition to the outdated prices, some items have been replaced. Rather than the Bagel 'N Lox listed on the online menu, the restaurant now serves an Avo 'N Lox. Instead of a bagel, the entree was served on a multigrain toast. Underneath the picked red onions and tomatoes, there hid a thin slice of the salmon. Folded over on a smaller bagel, that same slice would have appeared thicker. The balsamic dressing provided additional flavor to both the salmon and avocado spread. read more

Only waited 10 mins on a busy Sunday brunch. Staff is extremely inviting and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I had the Tuscan omelette w/crapes and berries. Hubby had the All meat skillet with pancakes. Our waitress suggested the icing & berries on the crape and icing & cinnamon swirl on his pancakes. What she failed to mention was that there was an up charge for both. $5 berries and $3 for cinnamon swirl. We enjoyed our meals, however will ask next time if it is included. Our bad. Hubby got his cinnamon roll French toast, over-easy eggs, and corned beef hash (for an upgrade). And WOW--we were some happy campers. My favs of all the eats? - my crepes, and hubby's corned beef hash. This place just earned the title of my 2nd favorite brunch spot in DFW. My only (tiny) complaint? The food could've been hotter. But the fact that I'm still giving it a 5 for deliciousness says a lot! It was the perfect amount of food in a pretty space, and the bathrooms were nice and clean. I've been twice (once a few years ago & once today) and have had horrible experiences both times unfortunately. The only thing that was good was the wait staff. 1st experience: Ordered the Johnny Boy omelet. Once I got it I cut it open and mushrooms poured out which I am highly allergic to. (This omelet doesn't come with mushrooms). I let them know and they remade the omelet. The 2nd one was good until the last bite there was a single mushroom which I didn't eat but I later called and told the manager because I wanted them to be aware of the situation. They apologized and that was about it. 2nd experience: The waters and coffee they gave us tasted very bad. Not being dramatic, but something chemically is wrong with their water we couldn't make it past the first sip because it tasted so salty and sour almost. (The coffee was somewhat okay to drink but it has to be made with the same water for it had a pretty odd aftertaste). I ordered a 2x2x2 with over medium eggs & gluten free pancakes. The eggs came out over easy and so did my husband's who ordered it over medium as well which was disappointing. The gluten free pancakes were good until I got to the middle which was raw...we did tell them about the pancakes which they comped but it was really unfortunate because the waiter was so kind & the place is cute but the food is not good. I can get after church work two of my friends and their kids. We had to wait about 20 minutes. On the weekends or is a very busy place. Make sure to make reservations. Upon walking in, it was bright, clean, lively and busy. We were seated and the waiter immediately greeted us and took our drink order while we browse the menu. I was overwhelmed as many menu items looked delicious. I had the 2x2x2 while the rest of the table ordered chicken & waffle, kids French toast, and pancakes with berries. The pancakes were fluffy and yummy. Wished for a little more crunch on the outside. The sausage, chicken sausage and the fried chicken were good. Unfortunately while I was excited about the waffle, it was dense and heavy and the hash brown could use more browning and crispiness. Drink prices are good but if you like a great Bloody Mary this only a fair Bloody Mary, not spicy and the only garnish is a lonely bacon strip. I'm here to say that Berries & Batter have THE best Gluten Free waffles, that I've ever had! I crave these puppies! They have one dedicated waffle iron for just GF, so sometimes it takes a little longer, but I'm ok with that! They have multiple GF options for food, and I have tried a lot of them, but ever since I tried the waffles, now there's no going back!! We love Berries and Batter. We go several times a month in HV location. Food and the service are both great. Usually there is a wait so you get on the wait list. You can get reservations during the weekdays though. If you have to wait, you can do so inside on the benches or the outside area. Lots of great food choices. HV location does not have their own website though. read more
