Checking out this popular spot in Chi-Town!

Great breakfast/brunch place in the heart of Downtown Chicago! Menu has lots of items to choose from. Our table ordered the Chorizo Benedict (only on the winter menu) with a side of Cheesy Grits, Grilled Cheese Supreme, 3 Egg Omelet and pancakes. Service was fast, did not wait long. Everything we had was very good. Place was very clean and organized. Highly recommend!

Quite possibly the BEST pancakes and hash browns I've had in my entire life. They were both so fluffy and buttery and exactly what I was hoping for. And eggs over easy are always the way to go here! The service was great - we were seated and waited on immediately, and the food didn't take long either. This was the PERFECT start to our day, and I can't wait to go back!

4 stars for Yolk - West Loop. This is a very convenient location in Chicago - on the bottom floor of the Olgilvie Transportation Center. This is a nice sit down restaurant to get a nice breakfast. All of the employees I encountered were very friendly, including our waitress. The Omelettes are big - generous portions and the meals will surely fill you up. The strawberry orange juice was delicious and very fresh, the mocha was tasty as well. My only gripe is the additional charges for even basic toppings in Omlettes - nothing is included. Overall, I'd recommend if you want a nice fancy sit down breakfast lunch downtown, but it is not cheap.

Another never again food is beyond bland. With a faint sprinkle of a piece of hair eyelash or something. Regardless foreign hair in my food in unacceptable.

Great food and large portions and fresh. Nice huge seating. Parking on the street. Big and small parties all good. Wide choices of milk like 2% and oat and soy.

I went back here in 2023 visiting Chicago for a concert and needed a breakfast place. We came across Yolk, walking distance from our hotel. I am not a big breakfast fan to begin with, thus the random combination. In my opinion, the place is probably overrated. I would rather go to a mom and pops shop in my home town than here. The inside was clean and well decorated.

Honestly I just thought it was alright. Little pricy for what you get. The best was my girlfriends chilaquiles. The chicken or egg sandwich was alright nothing too over the top, imagine just a slightly higher quality chicken patty with egg and some type of Cane's sauce on top. The pancake was way overcooked and dry, sadly not even the chocolate chips could save it. Wasn't sure what was going on that morning or if there was staffing issues but could definitely tell there was an attitude with a couple of the servers too. The host was kind but felt like I was a disruption vs being welcomed. The restaurant was clean even though busy and liked how we had the option to sit outside

I used to visit this location often as it was just around the corner from my condo. If it weren't for the convenient location, I probably would not choose to come here often. The menu is expansive and there is a wide variety of options to please everyone in your party. Prices are high, but that is to be expected given its location downtown in a train station. The food itself is fine - nothing particularly show stopping, but good standard breakfast food. I really like the thick cut bacon here. Service here, in my experience, has been largely overwhelming. Sometimes I get a gem of a server, but most of the time I had issues with servers who were rude or inattentive. If you're looking for a quick breakfast, Yolk is fine, but if you're looking for an overall positive experience, look elsewhere.

This place was so yummy. Our server lady was great. There wasn't too many people. The restrooms were very clean. Coffee was great too!

When are you reopening? Ur fans are crying!!!?

    We are now reopened!!!

I see the "reopening date" has been moved to after the end of the year. is this location actually permanently closing?

We are committed to reopening Yolk West Loop. However, we are not sure when that will happen because of the labor shortage.…

    Do they have alcohol?

    They do not.

Is this restaurant located in the Metra building, and can you turn around two patrons between a noon train arrival and an opera across the river at 1:30?

Hi Laura. Yolk - West Loop is located in Ogilvie Train station and an hour and a half is plenty of time to order and eat. But please make sure to inform your server of your time constraints just to be on the safe side incase we are very busy. Thanks

    Is this Yolk location BYOB?

Hi. All of our Chicago locations are BYOB. Feel free to bring any alcohol. We have various fresh squeezed OJ for mimosas as well as our award winning Bloody Mary Mix for people to make Bloody Marys.

    How is the parking situation?

I didn't notice any parking on site or near by. It might be best to take taxi or Uber.

The staff was also super friendly and really helpful with recommendations throughout the night. We started with the warm Parker House rolls, which were so soft, fluffy, buttery, and delicious. Then we shared the vodka rigatoni, and the portion was definitely big enough for two people to split. So creamy, comforting, and really good. Of course we had to end with one of their classics, the sticky date cake, and OMG. Soooo good. Warm, rich, sweet, and the perfect way to finish dinner. Definitely worth finally checking off my list, and I'd happily come back again, especially for a patio night!

A brief background; been in Chicago for about 15 years. Heard of Au Cheval back in 2015 or 16. Took a while to give it a shot and went; wait for 2 hours. Hmmmmm, didn't work out. Tried a second time 2 or 3 years later. Still didn't happen. Tried a third time when I had a friend visiting from overseas....wait time was just so long and just didn't have the 'desire' to wait that long. I think for the first time in my life, I had to kick myself as I wish I would have waited the very first time. Had my nephew visiting me from out of town. While I did want to take him to Au Cheval, with the limited time I had, I did not want to wait. I happened to go on their website and noticed that they now offer reservations. That was one of the most beautiful sights I had seen in a long time. Not only do I get to take my nephew out to Au Cheval, but I myself finally get to try the burgers here that have been the talk of the town and were rated the best burger in the United States of America for many years. My nephew absolutely devoured and loved the burger. He was in heaven. I cannot say I was not in heaven myself because the burger was absolutely epic, but that's not just what this review is about. This review is about one of the few joints in America that I have come across and that provided the level of attention to detail and went way above and beyond what I would have ever imagined in my wildest dreams to make this a memorable lunch. She had gone with my mother-in-law as well, so it was my mother-in-law, my nephew, and I. My mother-in-law is a vegetarian, and we figured we would go ahead and get the fries. What we did not know was that the fries are in beef tallow or have some beef seasoning (I forget), so in the end, she was not able to eat anything. My nephew and I just ordered each a burger. Our server proactively brought a house salad, which was vegetarian, and he said, "This is on the house. You guys enjoy the burgers." That, honestly, is a level of service that goes beyond usual service, but there was human empathy involved here. After a while, the head chef comes out, super friendly, and asks how everything was. He then says, "I heard you've been waiting 10 years over here, and I hope it was worth it." He made sure my mother and I were comfortable, and he made sure my nephew was comfortable. The level of service and care here was very special, and I personally appreciated it from the heart. For me, it was a memory built with my nephew and my mother-in-law, one that is going to stick with us for the rest of our lives. Not to mention, I am getting hungry right now, so I need to make a reservation and go down there tomorrow.

It was so gross that I couldn't eat any of it and told the bus boy to take it off my bill when he came to take our plates. He asked me if I wanted it wrapped up as it was completely untouched and I was like no, thanks. The frites were some dehydrated potato shoe string thing that was extremely over salted and inconsistent texture. Some were crispy and some were soggy.
