Driving back to the Bay Area from Sacramento Justin C. thought we could do our fruit and vegetable shopping here, which was a surprise since I was preoccupied on the phone. The prices and quality were amazing and it amazed me to think all of it was grown locally, except for the pineapple but it was super tasty. We probably spent a good 30 minutes walking around the stand, it was more of a small local town store then anything. We bought melons, berries, apples, lots of veggies and herbs, local wine and specialty jars of artichokes and sun dried tomatoes, teas, and this was all way under what we would have paid at a grocery store for product that is imported from out of the country. The staff was friendly and this place made me want to move closer to it! Don't forget your reusable bags!!! The fruit stand charges $1.99 per 2 plastic bags of goods, we have the charge on our receipt twice for the 4 bags we had. We had forgot ours at home, never again! read more

I used to stop by Yolo fruit stand on my way up to Sac to get to work. The selection was pretty good, though the quality ranged from week to week. Their choices of ethnic foods and food prep sauces are really wide and not to mention surprising for a little fruit stand in the middle of nowhere. Very good prices make this the go-to place for summer produce. Not sure how well it goes in the winter. Parking lot is a little bit small for the amount of patronage they get. Be careful when entering and exiting the lot. Parking is tight. read more

I went there last week to check it out. The have a good selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables at good prices. They have a large selection of spices in the back of the store along with large selection of dried fruits and nuts and a selection of Afghan and Indian foods. I go here whenever I come back from Sacramento. Usually, I would go to Pedrick's, because it's my go-to place whenever I need to stock up on my produce. It looks so lonely whenever I drive by, so I dropped by Yolo Fruit Stand and checked it out. The fruit and veggie selections are similar to Pedrick's and prices are around the same range. As for non-produce items, the difference between YFS and Pedrick's is that YFS carries more Indian products, while Pedrick's has more Mexican. Although you can pick your own fruits or veggies (unlike how Pedrick's pre-bag their apples, nectarines, peaches, etc.), flies are everywhere! It's a bit of a squeeze when you roll your cart around the produce section, so be careful when you bump into other shoppers! I noticed the ice cream stand inside carries Gunther's ice cream. Maybe I'll treat myself a scoop next time I drop by. read more

If you want fruit or veggies this is the place to go! I've went to every place that sells fruit from Dixon to Davis, Pedrick's, Ikeda's, Nugget, Safeway, Trader Joe's. And the Yolo Fruit Stand by far has the cheapest prices for fruits and veggies. They have a great selection to choose from. Here and there, they may not have what another place has, but that is rare. I will ALWAYS go to the Yolo Fruit Stand to get my fruits and veggies. Best selection and prices. read more

Best Coffee I've had since I was in Italy!!! Beautiful produce and a great selection. If you love coffee-- and I don't mean a mocha latte caramel crap-a-chino -- I mean a REAL cup of good coffee or expresso you have to pop in to this little hole in the wall. Although you have tables on your patio, we prefer the side-of-the-highway style dinning. Don't be fooled, this is not just a fruit stand, but a gourmet road side cafe. I just bought corn for 3/99 cents. I was disappointed, there's no kernel inside. Probably young, I should have checked it first.

Pros: Cheap prices, friendly people Cons: Fast food spoilage. So...my first experience here was great. And the customer service is still excellent. But this time I had food spoil in 2 days. Onions are supposed to last like a week at least, not 1-2 days. Broccoli had mold on it 24 hours later. Had some green potatoes, some moldy potatoes. Non-local Central & South American fruits and vegetables, along with repackaged nuts from bulk, low quality foreign (China) growers make this "fruit stand" a major disappointment. You'll have MUCH better luck for fresh, healthy, and local at your neighborhood's chain supermarket. read more

One star because of service. Fruits might look nice and plummy but I went there to get a sandwich and no one wanted to work. The blond girl was lost. Anyway she tried But several things were missing: Bread not toast as requested No tomatoes as requested I told her about the bread not bring toasted and she pretended we didn't talk about. I moved out of Davis last year and still feel a distinct emptiness, left by none other but Yolo Fruit Stand. Fresh and cheap produce, though some of it's too ripe. Just give your produce a good look, and you'll be fine. They also have a lot of unique local foods. It does have a Middle Eastern influence, which can be pretty interesting. read more

I got a Santa Clause melon here. In October. Christmas just keeps getting earlier and earlier every year. In the case of the Yolo fruit stand I don't mind. They have tons of produce from local growers and bags of bulk food for long drives. The prices and quality are hit and miss but it's still reasonably fun to stop and stretch your legs. They also have Santa Clause melons, which only grow in California and only for a few months, December not being one of them, ironically. Christmas melons, if you have never heard of them, are damn delicious. read more

I love this place. Lots of fresh produce and smiling faces. I frequent San Francisco, and stop by on the way home a lot. Its a great place to go when you sleep in on Sundays (I still dont know why the Sunday Market only goes until 12?)I get a good haul for 20 bucks. Lots of parking, jams, nuts and dried fruit. Out in the middle of nowhere off the 5, they have a wonderful assortment of produce at Farmer's Market prices. A girlfriend of mine told me about this location. She commutes between Vacaville and Sacramento and stops on her way home. Your typical fruit stand place. It looks rather lonesome on the road all by itself. In addition to your standard fruits and vegetables, they also sell nuts here. I even found butter toffee cashews here! On the way to Sacramento, I usually stop here to check out the produce. The prices are decent, but the quality is either hit or miss. Of course I want to support local farmers, but I'm not going to buy overripe fruits and soggy veggies. I typically have better luck at Asian or farmers' markets. Definitely stop in though. I have been coming here for a while and the produce is always great. Last week I went there and used my debit card. The clerk took it to the back to run it through their system..... odd. When I got home I check my bank and he ran it through for 60. more than he should have. Disappointed. Not too impressed. Just like Pedrick Produce, the produce is pretty much stuff they bought off local wholesalers give it to these fruit stands becasue they couldn't sell it and its damn near rotting. I heard a wholesaler in Sacramento bought it a few months ago. I must say, the previous owners, although they had crappy produce, were very, very nice. One time my car overheated, and he came out and helped me cool it down with a bucket of water, and gave me a soda free of charge. Went there a couple times after that, but did not buy anything due to quality. Haven't been there since new owners took over. UPDATE 4/28/08: Just stopped ny there this weekend becasue I heard there was a new owner. Definatley better than last time, but not much. Better selection, but product was still bad. My friends and I stopped in yesterday hoping to support a local business during COVID and we were greeted with nothing but blatant disrespect from the owners of the shop. We were looking around for a sink in the shop to see that if we bought cherries, we could wash them before we ate them. We were still very far away from the door that said employees only and we didn't go in/ wasn't planning on going in.. we were just kind of looking around, seeing what we wanted to buy and this woman (i assume was one of the owners) was extremely rude to us. She was asking us if we even went to school and knew how to read the "employees only" sign when we never went into the room or even got close to it. Baffled me that a woman who looked like a barely literate hillbilly was asking this to intelligent young women.. but besides the point..The fact that an old white woman was also picking on 18 year olds, two of which are POC was even more disturbing. No matter your age you should never be disrespected by people who are trying to sell you their products. She was telling us that we were rude for even asking about a sink to wash the fruit that we were going to buy from her to help SUPPORT HER BUSINESS. We left without buying anything of course because we don't like to support people with awful customer service and allows the staff be vile people like that. The atmosphere in the place was so off anyways. This business is truly a waste of your time. Support other businesses who are kind and actually care about their customers. read more

Good place to stop between Sacramento and Davis, or after a bit of birdwatching at Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area. The produce is generally good quality at reasonable prices, and they have plenty of other interesting stuff like saffron ice cream sandwiches and imported canned food. It's not the cleanest place in the world, but you wash your fruit before eating it anyway, right? read more

I think it was my last time at the Yolo fruit stand today. It used to be a small stand where you can buy fresh produce at the reasonable price, plus delicious German bread and pickled cucumbers. I went there today just to grab some vegetables including onions, garlic and beets. It was an unpleasant surprise - 4 out of 5 crates of onions (both white and red) were rotten, smell like ..., and the tray with beets had a visible mold. It seems like that it came right from the Safeway trash bin. I called the owner and asked him if he has fresh onions: "it is the last one" was the answer... What happened with beets? - do you think it is OK to keep it on the shelf? "No one is perfect, including you" he answered with an imbecile smile. That was my take home message today from the Yolo fruit stand today. read more

if you buy produce here, its already super ripe, which explains the low prices and the fruit flies in your house if you leave your fruit out for more than a couple days. if you plan on eating it today, it should be good. a good alternative to the overpriced fruit stand off of mace (across from UCC) and the stuff at safeway. its good to support local farmers! read more

I've been driving past this place for years, but I always forget about it until I've already missed the exit. Well yesterday I cut somebody off (gave a "sorry!" wave) and finally made it to the fruit stand! I thought the place would have a little more of a country twang to it, but it was nice. A fine selection of dried fruits, although they were out of mango, which was the only reason I went there. Lotsa nuts too, with an interesting variety of flavored pastachios. I took the wasabi option, and found they weren't as good as I had pictured... but I'm not complaining. We also got some fruit and veggies- had some asparigus for dinner and grapefruit for breakfast- but didn't really see any difference from what we'd buy in the grocery store other than that it's a bit cheaper. For me, it's not worth driving from East Sac to buy produce, but if you're big on buying local, I suppose this is the place to go. Glad I can finally say I've been there... even if I had to leave without the mangos. I'd go back if I was driving through, assuming I remember to exit before it's passed by again, but that dried mango shelf had better be full!! read more

I went to several farmers markets, but never could find everything I needed. This place had it all! I had a trunk full of produce and only spent $30. First time that I have gone here since living in davis! The produce is fresh and cheap compared to other markets! The avocados were 5 for $5! That's a super good deal for avocados! They give you plastic bags for your groceries too! It's a small market located next to I-80. They also sell nuts, jams, oils, and other things too! They also have containers of Gunthers ice cream! And there were a good variety of flavors! I am definitely coming back here to buy my groceries! read more
