Ah yogurt, gelato, ice cream... You all tend to taste the same to me. But, when in the search for a good desert after a dinner downtown, me and my girlfriend tend to gravitate to frozen yogurt. After Yogurt Shack closed down, we were a bit lost on where to go. Cultive just a block down is kind of blehh and we swore to avoid Pinkberry at all costs because of the blasé corporate feel to it (and how can't serve yourself). So, we find ourselves at Yolo Berry a lot. They rotate their flavors a lot, but I think they keep chocolate permanently since it seems to be the only flavor I get. Unfortunately, their selection is usually limited to about 3 or 4 choices. But, they have an amazing array of toppings, from the usual candies and chocolates, to hot fudge and fruits. Another plus is that it's open late. Perfect for fulfilling that craving for something sweet, hoping that frozen yogurt better for you than ice cream, only to find that, nope, not really. read more

There's nothing totally wrong with this, but seriously, being a San Jose native, where the fro-yo places are trendy, cheaper (30c/oz), have a better atmosphere and much better flavors, it's really hard to write a favorable review for this place. The thing I find the funniest about this place is the selection of toppings, though we actually sat there and counted, and unless every color rainbow sprinkle counted as an individual topping, they fell short of 101. Their selection is reminiscent of a pay by the bag candy store, coupled with the dessert aisle of a buffet, which isn't a gripe by any means. However, I couldn't help but throw questionable looks at the larger and heavier items on sale. I feel that anyone buying whole cookies, apple pie filling, jumbo whoppers, chocolate covered nuts/pretzels/strawberries and the like by the ounce is getting ripped off, but to each his/her own, I suppose. read more

I like mom and pop shops, and I did like the face that this place felt "home grown". The positives are that it was clear how to serve yourself and the cute cashier was really nice and friendly. As for my complaint, and its a small but important one, is the fact that both my friend and I both had some stomach issues afterwards. I am thoroughly convinced its because of the fruit because I saw it out in a corner with flies flying all over them. I only had one strawberry but he had several fruits and had to stop in the middle of crossing the street, hunched over with an unusual stomach ache. There are SO MANY FROYO places in Davis. I'm not really one to jump on the froyo bandwagon, but this is one of the better ones. There are only about 4 available froyo flavors at a time, but the flavors are all good. There's also a ton of toppings! Mostly candy and cereal toppings, but also cookies, brownies, and apple pie filling. There is also an expansive fudge/sauce topping bar as well. My favorite thing is the punchcard. After 10 or so, you get a free cup, any size. For my free cup, I loaded it up with like 4 cookies on the bottom, and filled it up mile-high with froyo. read more

My favorite froyo place in Davis because it feels homey inside, constantly changes their flavors (I still always get the original tart), nice customer service every time, and tons of toppings (my favorites are mochi and fresh fruits!). I've had friends that came from out of town JUST for this place. The flavors change every day, and most of them are really worth it (Red velvet... mmmm). You get to choose the flavor of yogurt, and whatever toppings you want and pay by the weight at the end. I suggest going backwards and loading up your bowl with the "toppings" first and ending with putting the yogurt in the bowl, so that your yogurt doesn't melt while you deliberate what to get (If you take awhile to make a decision like I do sometimes, this is necessary!) If you're not sure if you'd like todays flavors, just swing on inside and try samples of all the different yogurts. read more

So I went here right after burgers and brew for dessert and there were a huge crowd of high school kids outside. So not sure if there's a much younger crowd hanging around this place now. The inside is really clean and there are a lot of variety for toppings. The only thing I wish they had more of is more yogurt choices. Minus 1 until they find a way to get more yogurt! read more

Overall Impression: So fresh and so clean. It appears to be the healthiest version of self-serve yogurt in Davis, although my waist might still pay the price in the future. Cost: A treat for 2 to share only came out to 5 bucks. This will only entice me to get more next time. Taste: The apple flavored yogurt is a favorite, and the endless toppings is quite crazy. It feels like you are in a Sweet Factory shop if anyone gets this reference. Customer Service: Simple service since it's self serve yogurt, but the cashier had a smile, so that was nice. Normally I'm not a huge fan of frozen yogurt, but I love Yoloberry!! It's my go-to dessert spot. They don't have a huge amount of flavors, but they always have my favorites, chocolate and vanilla. They have sample cups so you can try one (or more!) of their rotating flavors. Their topping selection is vast and includes fresh fruit options year round, including berries! They have several syrups in addition to their numerous warm toppings like hot fudge, peanut butter sauce and Nutella. There's limited indoor seating (maybe 10 chairs at a long table) but they have plenty of benches and space outside! It's also across the street from a park if that's your preferred venue. I've always found parking within a block, though I usually go later in the evening (7-11 pm) I would definitely recommend Yoloberry to students, families and visitors. read more

Just your typical frozen yogurt place. They don't offer a huge selection of flavors- they usually only have 6, and they always have chocolate and vanilla. Most of their flavors are non-fat though, and they have at least one sugar free flavor. As far as toppings go, they have more candies/cookies than fruit. I'm pretty sure you can just get a bag and fill it with candy to buy by the pound. They also have a ton of chocolate/caramel/etc sauces. Definitely the place to go if you like more chocolate/candy on your froyo rather than fruit. read more

I find the flavors at yoloberry to be quite tasteless. Last week there was a Nutella flavor and it didn't taste anything like Nutella, it was just sweet and brown. This is a common experience for many of their flavors. Where they do excel, tho, is the large number of toppings to select from! I've been going to YoloBerry since it opened, and today was the first time that I've had a really unpleasant experience. Usually it's great (the flavor selection, yogurt itself, toppings... all satisfactory), but today the man working at the counter was very unfriendly and impatient, and although I'm usually pretty tolerant of that (we are all human, after all, and have off days), after I had to shuffle through my wallet for a few moments to find my stamp card, he turned to the only male in our group (it was him and three of us women) and said disdainfully, "you probably have to deal with this all the time." Now, I understand that this is not the worst thing he could have said, but afterward all of us - particularly my male friend, who felt that he had been put in a very uncomfortable position, especially given that one of the women present was his mentor/supervisor - expressed our immense displeasure. Boy, I do miss Pinkberry in Davis... but Yoloberry is a great alternative, and hey! It's a local business! True, there aren't many choices for yogurt flavors, but the ones that are there are all delicious. You can never go wrong with an original tart... there is a multitude of toppings to pick from including sauces and syrups, fresh fruits and sweet treats. There aren't many tables inside, but there is a cute courtyard right in front facing Central Park where you can enjoy your yogurt. read more

Anyone who has gone to Yogurtland and see the yogurt selection at Yoloberry would go "WTF". But fear not. What they lack in the number of yogurt selection, they compensate for the overwhelming amount of topping selection you have at your grasps. Seriously. I was low-key freaking out because I thought there was some hidden agenda to this and that I'll end up paying a lot more because of the toppings they had there. But nope. The yogurt that they did have didn't taste bad at all, and the toppings - well obviously amazed me. Back in SoCal, Yogurtland was a place I always went to when I craved for desserts. I guess you could say I'm a fan of this place, since it's the only real yogurt place in Davis. I've been here before and I thought it was good. It's comparable to Yogurtland, although I am a big Yogurtland fan so nothing really compares to that. There aren't many ice cream flavor options, BUT they have tons and tons of toppings to put on. The pricing is reasonable and the workers are nice. This place fits right in with Davis and the cute house it's in is adorable. Wanted some froyo to help cool off from the heat, and unfortunately it did not hit the spot for me. Upon entering the shop, there was a strong fishy stench that almost made me want to leave. But my froyo cravings made me stay. Their selection of flavors were very limited, and I ended up sticking with the original tart. However, they do have a huge variety of toppings available. Came here last weekend when I came back into town and I had pretty high expectations coming from my friend's who were still going to school in Davis. Honestly when I saw this place I thought it was just a house but once inside they had a lot of toppings to choose from and the fact that it was only 38 cents/ounce which is pretty darn cheap. I got the raspberry one and didn't want to try the other one's. They do have a good selection of toppings but nothing I usually put on my yogurt since most of it was candy. Well after getting my yogurt which was around $3 and my bowl was 3/4 full I was kinda disappointed. It wasn't tart and too creamy for me but still good. Love that the fruit toppings are always fresh and never seem more than a day old (unlike some other yogurt places in Davis) but hate how there are never tart flavors other than original! Originally coming from the Bay Area, I have tried other yogurt places like Yogurtland which I would prefer over Yolo Berry but as far as looking for the best yogurt spot within Davis, this is it! This will be my to go place for frozen yogurt while I have school in Davis in the Fall. I have already been here twice in my 3 days stay. The tart is pretty good, it reminds me of a cross between the tart-ness of Jubili and the texture of Tutti melon. I do like it creamy and very tart! The sorbet is very good! I always get the tart with the sorbet. They do have a lot of toppings but most of it is like sugary things and a very small selection of fruit. It is cool that they have pie filling as a topping! I would have to say that the flavors are amazingly good. Only downside is that they do not have much variety in flavor, but they make up for it in toppings. When I first saw the amount of toppings I was a bit in awe; it looked exactly like a candy shop. (The ones that weigh candy.) LOVE THIS PLACE!! =D The selection is small, but they have the basic flavors and some unique fruity ones. The toppings are really yummy and there is a great variety. You have to try the coconut peach topping, tasty and refreshing! Of course, it's nothing compared to what's in the Bay Area. I pass it on my way back from campus and it takes LOTS of self-control not to treat myself for walking. It's also located right across from a cute park, so it's perfect if you just want a sweet treat and a nice view to lounge =). read more

There is a small selection of fro-yo flavors (6 at most), and it's a little to sweet for me...too much sugar, not enough flavor. Also, the fro-yo has a watery consistency. Ever since I've tried the original tart here at Yoloberry, I've never gone to Cultive or Yogurt Shack again. It's the best out of the 3 yogurt shops in the vicinity. They change their sorbet flavors every 1-2 weeks. It's always super crowded. I LOVE Yolo Berry. It's usually pretty crowded with a line out the door, but don't let that scare you, it always goes pretty fast. They have 6-8 different flavors of Yogurt all the time, 2 of which are fat-free, and the toppings are great. If you love candy and sweets, you're in the right place. What makes me love it, is that I DON'T care for sweets on my yogurt, I like fruit, and they deliver. They always have fresh cut strawberries and bananas, and then whatever berries are in season.
