Great for to go lunch. At work we order from here a few times a month and mostly it is the lunch box which is a fair value and a lot of food. Without trying to be too picky as to eating 'lunch to go', the only real issue we have is that little salad which typically has water in the bottom and it has become a running joke and recently when I was away I was told the salad was not all wet... I guess I missed out. We typically order just a few of the more standard items from the list. So, for lunch it is nice however not certain about dinner as I haven't tried it. In town for business, staying at the Courtyard and spotted this joint right away. You can't help but smile at the Yomama name. We're BIG sushi fans and didn't hold out much hope for this quiet little spot, but...the sushi is slamming - fresh, expertly prepared and seriously good. We liked it so much we came back the next day. The CJ is off-the hook. If you're looking for good sushi, this is your spot. Good sushi, good service, decent location. My only complaint is that I ordered my favorite beer (Hite Ice Point) the last two times I ate there and I was told they were all out. If it's on the menu, it should be available to order unless it's a seasonal item. I had a similar situation when ordering the Oyster Shooter. Tough teriyaki steak and unsympathetic wait staff/manager. My wife and daughter visited for dinner. My teriyaki chicken was poorly cut into pieces and nearly impossible to eat with chopsticks. My daughter's teriyaki steak was extremely tough and had a metallic taste. It was so bad that she wouldn't eat more than one piece. When we brought this to the attention of the manager, his comment was, "oh, sorry - that steak can get a little tough sometimes" before he walked away. Most restaurants would at least offer another entree or a remake of the offending dish. Not happening here. This was our first and last visit to Yomama Sushi. read more

What a shame that the Sushi place closest to my house is the worst i have ever been to. The first time i went the Tuna Sashimi was funky. and i didnt take more than 2 bites... what a waste. Then i got some spicy tuna rolls. Those were no good either. I really wanted to like this place so i went a second time for the perfect idea of sushi and then a movie at the roxy. Kind of subpar sushi. Nothing horribly wrong with it; it just wasn't good sushi. A lot of times, the rice in the rolls would be falling out, and the rolls themselves would be falling apart. One time they forgot to bring my friend his roll and even asked if he still wanted it, even though they already have us the check and had charged us for it. The sushi just isn't as good as any of the other places I've tried, but it's conveniently located by the school which makes it an easy place to lunch. read more

The atmosphere was nice and staff friendly enough. I am a very experienced sushi eater and their menu looked very interesting, so I tried something new. I only tried one roll. The Yomama Roll was good going down, but I ended up getting major food poisoning. This included a trip to the hospital and missing work for the next 3 days. If you go to sushi for the fish, avoid this restaurant. The fish is of extremely low quality. Obviously frozen, gooey, oily salmon sashimi, which itself was cut extremely thin. Regular rolls are about the diameter of a quarter. Hand roll was normal size, but still the fish was rank. Even their rice was old, and dry to the point of nearly crunchy. Overpriced, small portions, bad food. Definitely will not be returning. read more

Horrible customer service! When I 1st went there I changed my mind on carry out and instead dine in, well the receptionist got upset, started to make faces and started to talk bad about me to the cooks in front of me!!! This is the second time i ate here the first was for lunch and was not really happy with food or service. So I decided to go here again for dinner to see if it was a fluke. It was worst! I ordered a dinner combo and hand rolls. The miso was watered down again. The salad is disgusting. Even the soda is more soda water than soda. The sushi bar chef is not attentive. I didn't received my stuff til after I asked for them. Then my dinner came. The salmon was actually alright but the tempura sauce was too sweet. The shrimp tempura was not fully cooked or at least the texture of the shrimp was off. So this will be the last time I eat here. Too bad since this is very convenient if you're staying at the hotel across the street. Its the only sushi bar you can walk to. Oh well. read more

To call this place mediocre would be a compliment. I do not blame my horrible experience at this establishment on the staff, but solely on the owner's very sad and clear attempts to financially cut corners. I should have walked away on sight of the tennis balls on the legs of the chairs, tarnished dollar store plastic cups, and bottles of soy sauce diluted with water. The one hostess was also the server and there was one sushi chef for at least nine tables on a Sunday night. The food was bad and caused me to immediately fear for my health. I went out front to check for the restaurant grade in the window but it was conveniently not on display. Quality of sushi is not good at all. I am a sashimi person and the salmon sashimi was slimy and I could smell a harsh fish taste as soon as it came to the table. Sometime since my last visit, wasn't that impressed. Last Sunday about 5pm, my girlfriend and thought we would give it another try. The last star is missing due to slow service, there was only two other people in the place, and yet somehow our waiter appeared very busy?! (Is there a school for learning this technique?) That and we had to ask for the A/C to be turned on, we almost left because it was too hot and that would have been a shame because our food was excellent. I ordered the CJ roll and it was really good. My girlfriend ordered something baked, served on a shell with flames under it, nice presentation, and she loved it. Well I hadn't been here in a hot minute, but I was craving teriyaki, and was price-hunting. Well, they have a better lunch deal than their TO location (2 main items for $8 something)! I ended up not getting the lunch special aka obento. Anyway, pretty good. Although, not a fan of the cooking-with-onions thing, luckily it wasn't terribly over-powering, but I wish I had known/remembered/gotten a heads up. Didn't get any actual sushi this time around since that was a healing/protein-run. But I'm sure the reviews are accurate. After all, it was semi-busy for a Thursday at 11:30. Front/host guy was still the same, and of course super friendly. Sushi guys still nice too when you walk in. Will, of course, return ASAP. read more

Horrible, terrible, pathetic customer service. Came in on a WEDNESDAY night. Wasn't too busy. They sat us but didn't take our order for drinks at least 15 minutes after seating our group of 6. When it was time to order our food, it took them another 10 minutes to finally send someone to take our order. Finally when they were ready to take our order, my wife had a question about an item on the menu. The airhead waitress then said, "I don't know, let me ask the other waiter." She NEVER CAME BACK. After waiting almost 20 minutes more, we got up and left. No apologies from the staff. Will never go back and will never recommend this restaurant. read more
