Was not as fussy as I would have liked with a sports coat, and his style and recommendations skew towards a little more "elderly gentlemen". I dropped off a couple dresses, trousers and my fencing knickers here on a Wednesday. Mr. Yong was very honest and very friendly. He fixed my clothing and his work is impeccable! Better than what they originally were. The knickers came out a little tighter than i anticipated yet that was my fault as i may have suggested making them tighter not thinking entirely of the outcome. but they look great! i'm happy with it. I really wanted to like this place because the reviews are great as well as the customer service. However, I have taken a number of pieces there and have had to take them back to be fixed. For example, I asked for them to add lace to a low cut dress and they completely failed to sew the lace to the actual dress on one side... it was just a seem with the lace flapping off. Then, when I took it back to be re-done, they tried to charge me for it. Even though they are able to get it back to you quickly, I would rather them take their time and get it right. read more

I came in thinking this place wouldn't charge me nothing over 15.00 nope he charged me 32 and some change just to make my sleeves on my coat a tad bit shorter! If I would've known I would've asked how much before hand and then make my choice! For me that's too much! If I would've known I would've gone else where. read more

Wish I'd read the reviews first. I took 3 dresses in and a shirt. 2 dresses and shirt needed alterations in the bust area and the other dress needed thin lining installed. I got 2 dresses with lining?? Lining was a horrible cheap material that didn't flow with the dress. The other was a sheer dress which was lined from top to bottom???? The other dress and top was supposed to be taken in at bust and nothing was done. I was charged $119 for everything and nothing was done OR done right. On my way to get this fixed but I'm not feeling very hopeful. *Update: Upon returning to pick up my clothes that were either done horribly wrong or not done at all I was presented a bill for $19?! I refused to pay for repairs needed because of your shoddy work in the first place. In the end, I paid $119 for one dress bust alteration, one shirt bust alteration and linings that were done wrong and had to be removed. So in effect, I got nothing. read more

I would not recommend going to Yong's. I asked him to tailor a suit by removing the shoulder pads and by tucking in the corners of the shoulders a little bit. I specifically asked for the cost and he told me $40 (which I told him I thought was overpriced since I've had more done for less but he kept insisting it was a good deal). When I returned, he charged me $60 and didn't even remove the shoulder pads like I had asked. Again, he insisted this was a good deal. I would recommend going somewhere else if you want something done right at an affordable price. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE I took my wedding dress there to have the waist pulled in, they quoted me $40 to have that done and told me it would be ready on 7/11. I get a late night text on 7/9 telling me the dress was ready and to please come in the next day to pick up. I arrive on 7/10 to pickup the dress and it's no where in store, the guy working doesn't have the slightest clue what my dress looks like, where it could be or how to even start looking for it. He tells me to come back tomorrow [7/11] and he will have it. I show up today [7/11] for the dress and again, IT'S NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!!! The guy has no idea where it is, no idea what it looks like or what happened to it!!!! It's a wedding dress! In a HUGE WHITE BAG!!! Not something one can easily miss! Then an hour later I get a call from some woman, who between giggling tells me the dress is at another shop and it's too much of an inconvenience for her to bring it to the original shop by end of business today [the day it was promised done]. She finally agrees to bring the dress to the original shop, so I get there around 3pm and it's still wrinkled, it doesn't look or wear as though the waist was taken in as promised and overall the dress looks like shit. The guy at the store doesn't even bother to ask me if I like it/what can be fixed, he basically ignores me to talk to another customer and then charges me $68 for the work! Absolutely ridiculous- I will NEVER go back here again! On top of all this they LOST 2 yards of fabric that was specially ordered to make a shawl for the gown. Shit service, shit work and overall shit experience. read more

Mixed experience at this place. The first times it was OK, however don't come here if you need to pick up your staff in the morning. It seems like he opens his store when he wants to open it and not when he should open it. Hours are 9-6:30, however, he is never there before 9:30. My first experience with Yong was fine. He took a bit of length out of a pant for me and charged me his stated rate upon our initial meeting. Pleased, I brought back in a pair of suit pants to get tapered in the ankle, and he stated it would be $20. When I came back in to try them and payed for them, he had altered the entire pant, bringing in the crotch and the seat of the pant a ton! They were completely riding up my crack. I showed him that and said I only asked for the ankle to be tapered and please take the other alterations out. I came back in again to try them on and pay for them, they were still very very tight in the crotch. I told him a second time, LET OUT any alterations done on the crotch, they fit perfectly fine in that area before I brought them to him. Finally, on my fourth trip into his store the pants fit perfectly. I walked up to pay and he said the charge would be $50. The ONLY thing I asked for him to do was taper in the ankles. I argued with him that I never asked him to do anything else. He simply did more unnecessary work, had to UNDOE it, and then charged me for it. One of the worst experiences I have had with a business and will never go back to Yong again. read more

I have to wonder if I have gone to the same Yong's Tailors as everyone else. I took in a suit to be altered a got it back a week later. I swear nothing had been done at all after paying a lot of money. Therefore, I took it back and after another round it was better but not great. SHOCKER....they had the nerve to charge me for the second alterations which were to fix what they didn't do the first go around and which I had paid for already. I would NEVER go back as obviously, they do not stand by their work. In fact, I should have known by how ill fitting their own clothes were to avoid here in the first place. First of all I almost NEVER write any reviews in my life, but the alteration service at Yong's is so good that I must share the goodies with my fellow Dallasites :) Got my altered dressed pants, jeans, sports jacket, and suit back today. The alteration work is impeccable and true to sizing as measured during my first visit a few days ago. My total expense of $218 is worth spending. Yes, there was a lot of work to be done to my clothes, as I have lost at least 10-15 pounds. So, $218 for a "total makeover" of my nice suit, dressed pants, etc is very reasonable. I have a few more pieces of clothing that needs alterations and you know where I will go :) The tailor speaks slightly beyond basic English, so I was very patient with him and explained things to him a few times, so that he knew what I wanted. Draw or use gestures if you must; he takes no offense, I suppose. Very nice guy. Highly recommended. read more
