When you first walk in, you're greeted with a very well-lit restaurant. The ambiance is warm and comforting, along with the other cool decorations they have. I would say that this restaurant has more unique Vietnamese dishes than other restaurants I've seen. The dishes all seemed really appetizing, so it was hard for me to decide what to get. I ended up getting the vermicelli noodle bowl with grilled pork and crispy egg rolls. I thought everything in the bowl was prepared very well with emphasis on the CRISPY for the egg rolls :) . I think one thing that might make the bowl even better is to offer a stronger fish sauce. The fish sauce is pretty diluted (which makes sense cause more people will be attracted to it since it's easier to eat). Overall, the restaurant is about 5 minutes away from home, so this place has been a staple for me ever since they opened. If you ever get a chance to try it, you won't be disappointed! read more

This Thai place is so overpriced for mid Thai food. I ordered the Vietnamese crêpe, my boyfriend got the beef pad Thai, and I ordered a shrimp and rice kids dish and the server didn't disclose an additional $4.50 charge for beef for the Pad Thai, which is ridiculous (especially to not disclose that) making that dish $18. And then for the kid's option, it gives you the choice of a protein for the rice and chicken or shrimp, and so I chose shrimp and it was just a HEAPING plate of dry rice (the whole plate was just a huge mound of rice) and two skewers of 4 shrimps total for $12.50 PLUS $2 extra for the shrimp (again, not disclosed). I wish I took a photo of the pathetic kids plate. The Vietnamese crepe I ordered was ok, not very flavorful or crisp on the outside like I hoped. I am definitely not coming back here. If you guys are going to charge extra for the protein, it's customary to let the customers know before you charge them. read more

My husband and I had Valentine's Day lunch here, and I was thrilled to find seating without reservations. We were seated quickly, and the staff were very friendly, and highly responsive. The dining room is quite large, and there are seating options for large groups and more intimate settings. We ordered the Saigon broken rice plate, and the Yoonique sampler platter. Both items were served expeditiously, and pleased us greatly. I'm so glad we didn't order a second entree because there was more than enough food for the two of us. Every pho restaurant I go to, I don't get pho. I ALWAYS go for their bun bo hue. Out of all the Pho restaurants I've been to in Oregon that don't specialize in Bun Bo Hue, I've been satisfied but never amazed. Wow! They score on so many levels. The atmosphere is tasteful with an attention to detail. It does matter if the color scheme is appropriate, whether there's lots of plants (whether fake or not), and if the various nuances complement the food. The Longan honey ice tea was so refreshing, so good! The cabbage chicken salad provided a good balance between sweetness and spice. I do prefer shredded white and dark meat instead of teriyaki. The other salad with a brisket-type beef was even better. Complex and unique. Our favorite Vietnamese dish is Bo Lu Lac and they offer an above average version. Friendly service. No fluff or frills, just good pho done right in a clean, relaxed space. We also tried the mì Quảng, which had a really bold, delicious flavor and an amazing aroma. That said, I wish there had been more broth. I ran out halfway through and didn't get to finish the rice cracker that comes with it (which I only enjoy once it's soaked). We decided to meet up here for lunch since it was convenient for all of us. It's been awhile since I been back. The place has expanded, taking the spot next to them. The interior is more spacious than before and had a nice open feel to it. The menu has also updated to add some newer items that I haven't noticed before. We ordered a few items to share for the table as well as our own dish. The cabbage chicken salad, shaky beef, and sampler platter were perfect for sharing. There was a funky rich sauce to pair with everything. I loved how fresh every component was. It looks like Yoonique is losing their touch. Their service has been lacking in the past year. The wait staff barely greets you and only points to a table rather than walk you to your table to be seated. They will do the minimum but once your food arrives, they never check back in. If anything is needed you'll need to go to the counter and ask. But today, my favorite dish, bánh xèo (Vietnamese crepe) was, dare I say, terrible. To begin with, the dish is usually eaten with fresh herbs and greens but I was given old and wilted greens (see photo). They were hidden underneath fresher greens as if they wouldn't get noticed. The crepe batter was powdery and undercooked. The ground pork tasted old and oily. I usually finish this dish quickly but today I couldn't stomach half of it. Even though their service has been poor, I've been returning for the delicious food. Unfortunately, this offense is the deal breaker. I don't see myself coming back (at least, for a while). The fact that the restaurant was pretty empty during dinner time on a Friday night isn't a good sign either. read more

Love this new restaurant!! We had the hoành thánh chiên (crispy lobster tail wonton) think crab rangoons but even better, I could've eaten a million of them, they were divine. We also had the bún riêu (tomato crab soup) which was super tasty, and the bò lúc lac (wok filet minion w/ rice), the beef was tender and loved the bell peppers and onions with it, would definitely order this again. We also got their Thai teas which are de-lic-ious!! Everyone there is so nice and can't wait to come back and try their pho and have a hundred more hoành thánh chiên. Did not like their Spring Rolls, meat was dry and the proportions were not great. Too much veggie compared to noodles and meat. Eggs rolls were decent, could use more flavor and the inside was a little mushy feeling but they were filled well with meat. Outside was nice and crispy. 10/10 on the broken rice dish. The pork meat was well flavored and the portions were generous compared to most restaurants. I also like their fish sauce. Most restaurants make it too sweet for my liking but theirs wasn't too sweet. I was surprised to see a few offerings on the menu not typically offered at restaurants in the Portland area including Bun Mam. Will be back to try those. read more
