Food: My boyfriend and I we're so excited to come here to eat since we haven't been in such a long time. They were out of chapchae. We waited for over twenty minutes for both plates and when we got home, the food was subpar. The cookery on the food felt as if it was rushed even though we waited twenty minutes for our food. It used to be a very clean and inviting restaurant for any patron to want to sit and dine in at yet that was not the case. Boxes and random things were all piled onto a table underneath the air conditioning unit. Tables were sticky and everything in this restaurant looks very dirty. Service: the customer service was great but very slow. Ambiance: the last time I was there was about 3 to 4 years ago. The a.c. was great, the lights we were on and the ventilation was working. The day that we went, the a c was on yet the ventilation was not working and you could see that it wasn't working due to how much smoke was accumulating inside of the restaurant. It's released on to say that this will probably be the last time that we buy food from here. We do always try our best to support small local businesses. The food is decent, it isn't the BEST korean food on the island but it is a decent meal for a decent price based on the amount of food you get for the price! Ok......this is not fine dining. But it's more than fine!! This is our go to Korean spot on the windy side. It's got a standard divey vibe. But the people are nice usually. And the food has been consistently good. They get busy around dinner time (but take phone ahead orders). If you walk in to order- be ready to be patient. They are not in a huge rush...ever. We eat here pretty often, always take-out. Ordering over the phone is usually easy, but if you ask for an ETA, it is often not accurate. In fact sometimes we don't bother heading there to pick it up for at least 15min (we love 5min away), often still waiting for 10-20 minutes. The reason is that they are typically very busy and sometimes understaffed. The food is very good, and we've never had a problem with accuracy (or any health issues). Having okazuya style sides that are more varied than many other Korean restaurants is very nice. You can make a plate just with the sides by themselves and not feel cheated without meat. For 5 * I would love to feel a cleaner interior & an exhaust vent would help when waiting, meat jun could have more Meat. sometimes sides are not fresh as they could be (japchae has been served spoiled) Services is busi/ friendly enough. Staff is multitasking but doing his best. A little hard to understand over the phone, but my boyfriend has no problem so he calls in take out orders. Call 15-30 min ahead. Food was ono, but the customer service on this day (8/14/25) was HORRIBLE!! First of all the staff were hidden behind some small windows in the kitchen area and on their phones. We share a BBQ meat and BBQ chicken plate for 21.90. It came with a choice of four sides and 1 scoop of rice or another side with no rice. I like the variety of banchan available- shout potatoes, chop char noodles, cabbage, cucumber, won book and daikon kimchee, shredded daikon, egg, tofu, mayo potato, fried zucchini, etc. I had my own hydroflask of water but as the cashier circulated the dining room, she offered to refill my water. This is my favorite Korean BBQ place on the Windward side. My favorite is their meat jun + fish jun combination plate with no rice so I get an extra vegetable. We make our own rice at home. We also like to add a few more mondoo to the plate. They give so much food that my husband and I get two meals out of it so it is definitely worth it. read more

I called and the lady who answered was so polite and sweet. I ordered a regular meat jun plate no rice. I came to pick up my order at 10:35. They open at 10:00. The lady was mopping the floor greeted me with a smile but realized the door was locked. I ordered my 5 sides which some of them didn't look so vibrant. No bok choy Bachan by the way. When she took my sides, she went to the back and cut the meat jun WITHOUT gloves!!!! I don't recall her washing hands either. So I hope I don't get sick. The meat jun was pretty good but dry. Burnt rice..."hidden" in both plates purchased--sandwiched together to hide the flat, hard brown sides, which leads me to believe this was done purposely, by hand, as not how rice scoopers typicallywork. Nothing more to say. This is the rice and vegetables that comes with soup, so absolutely NO marinated meat in the plate (kalbi, BBQ beef etc). So gross and unacceptable. Yoonyson Korean BBQ is located in the Windward City Shopping Center, on the corner of Likelike Highway and Kamehameha Highway. Next to Foodland and across from Kentucky Fried Chicken, Yoonyson shares the same free parking lot with Denny's, McDonald's, Starbucks, and Ross. Service was very friendly and efficient! Several customers came and went during my visit and each were treated kindly! The nice gentleman had excellent manners and great interpersonal skills! I ordered 5 plates: Fish jun Meat jun Kalbi Man Doo Combination - BBQ chicken and kalbi Everything was delicious and neatly packed in styrofoam containers. Each plate came with 4 sides - from the following 14 items: macaroni salad, seaweed, broccoli, potato salad, cabbage, kimchee, daikon, japchae, sweet potato, cucumber kimchee, fried egg, tofu, corn, bean sprouts, and 2 scoops of rice. Portions were so generous that my family probably only ate half of all of this! My youngest sister asked if Family Packs are available. The answer is, "Yes!" Since we were in the area we decided to try a new Korean BBQ shop. Located at windward city shopping center is a small Korean BBQ shop next to kozo sushi. Since this was our first time we decided to try the Yoony special which is served with BBQ short ribs, beef, chicken and fried mandoo. We also ordered the mini meat jun. All plates are served with 4 vegetables of your choice and 2 scoop rice. 2 choice vegetables for mini plates. Our veggies was mac salad, long rice, bean sprout and broccoli. The lady loaded our vegetables which was very nice of her. There are many more options to choose from but we went with what we usually grab from other places. The bbq chicken tasted good but it was really dry. The short ribs was probably my favorite. There was only one mandoo in the special. Really wish there was more but it was pretty tasty. The meat jun was pretty good especially with the sauce they provided. Veggies tasted the same like many other places but not bad. Got the BBQ Chicken plate with all vegetables (choice of 5). Selected the Kim Chi, cucumber, long rice, shoyu potato, & bean sprouts. Banchan was generally good and portion sizes decent. BBQ chicken was dry and stringy and I'm not sure why. It took them a while to prepare it was presumably fresh but it tasted reheated or I guess just overcooked? It came with 3 pieces. No skin which is a negative for me. It needed sauce to help with the dryness but they charge $0.25 for each sauce. I wouldn't get the BBQ Chicken again. read more

Did my mom decide to go back to work? Lol, just kidding. Koreans immigrated after the war from 1960s to 1980s to U.S. The food style and decor often reminds me of the Koreans who left in the 1980s. I felt like time stopped for a moment as I took a bite of the familiarity. I could recognize that same taste in old Korean Mom and Pop shop in Texas , Georgia, and down town in Honolulu. Freaking delicious, inexpensive Korean bbq and ban chan sides, you have to get the family feast because you'll want to try everything they make! The Kalbi short ribs are so meaty and flavorful and lean in fat. The chicken and bulgogi is well marinated, and the veggie mandoo dumplings were delicious and not too greasy.
