I have only been here twice and both times it was amazing. There are plenty of Chinese dishes to choose from and are also American dishes, sushi, desserts, and hibachi. I was very surprised the hibachi isn't extra. The only issue is some of the food got pretty cold and the hibachi meat the second time I went was very fatty. I think the food was good, but the service leaves much to be desired. I visited this restaurant with a group and we were treated badly by the staff. The issue was that we were accused of some of us not paying our bill, and that was because of the haphazard method they used of collecting the fees. They came back-n-forth collecting the individual tabs, but didn't even give all of us receipts. We had to defend ourselves on the way out, and once a staff member stepped forward and confirmed that we did all pay, it was dismissed. We got an apology, but this should never happen to anyone, and I told the staff person this. I go to this buffet when I'm in the mood for Chinese and in the area. They have a big selection of Chinese, Mongolian BBQ, and Sushi. I normally go during lunchtime since the lunchtime special is half-price, which is really reasonable. However, yesterday my schedule was running late for being in the area, so it was full-price, which in my opinion isn't worth it considering I don't eat the steak, crab legs, or other dinner related offerings. I love sushi, but I never get it unless I am in a good sushi restaurant. I took a chance on the sushi, that looked good, but tasted old and fishy. My mother got crab legs and said they were overcooked and dried out. I usually like the baked salmon, but it too, was overcooked and dried out. There weren't many vegetable selections besides green beans and broccoli with carrots and rice, of course. It was approximately 5:00 PM and the place was empty. I can see why. At lunchtime, the place is full of people and the staff is constantly refilling the food serving dishes. During dinner last night, it was obvious that the food had been sitting under the heat lamps too long. After I got home, I was reading the York Daily Record and it had the most recent health department inspection results listed. To my surprise, York Buffet and Grille was listed as failing their inspection with a long list of violations. Had I known this beforehand, I would have never eaten there. Never again! After being rushed to our table by a very rude hostess we were met by our waitress who did not even give us a chance to get to our table let alone sit down or put our items down before asking what we wanted to drink. Not one employee smiled or engaged in conversation in any way. What a miserable group of workers. How could there be a buffet with such a variety of food choices and not one eatable thing on it?? And how could this place be so busy with the food being so bad?? The egg drop soup had no flavor and that was one of the better things we tried. I tried the salmon but had to push it to the side along with the other seafood because I was afraid I would get sick. Yikes. York Buffet is the smallest, dirtiest and most disgusting buffet I have ever eaten at. I'm not much of a buffet fan to begin with but this was just ew. Stopped in for lunch and it wasn't very packed. Understandably so, that the food tasted as if it had been sitting there for hours untouched. All the food was practically dried out, the General Tso's could have almost passed for a nasty Orange Chicken and the sushi rice was crusty and had a very fishy taste. Overall, I think the price I paid was far more than I would have ever wanted to give to this establishment. Locals always praise A-Won Buffet and I am sad they went out of business, before I got to try ti out. Let's just hope that whatever opens in that space, will deter people away from this place and give them a taste of something that actually resembles Asian food. read more

We eat at York Buffet. When we arrived they had the little signs up at the dinner items you were not supposed to eat. We did not eat any of the dinner items due to the signs. So we thought we would be charged the lunch price. But. They charged all three of us the dinner price. My wife complained. The only discount they allowed us was the 15 percent coupon we had. The guy told us. Dinner is based on the time you arrive not on what you eat. If this is so. I've had worse! Honestly, the food isn't all that bad. Your typical Chinese American buffet choices. I like to take advantage of the hibachi grill, always fresh and tastes pretty good. I love sushi and they have some here, but not much of a selection and nothing is labeled so often you don't know what you're getting. My big issue with this place is the service. Our waiters/waitresses are usually pretty good, they keep drinks full and clear plates. But the last time I was here, if I wanted something made on the hibachi grill, it was as if I was bothering him. Same when I asked for a sushi roll to be made (same guy doing both). Never a smile or a "you're welcome". If you hate your job, quit, but no need to take it out on customers. Needless to say, I won't be back. Big place. Lots of food. Attentive servers. Clean. We focused on the entree foods. Had the usual Chinese/Asian style foods. Also we tried some unusual foods we hadn't seen before on a buffet: Dim Song, bacon wrapped shrimp, kimchee, crawfish. There was a nice salad bar. Enjoyed the self-served ice cream and sherbets. This is your typical Chinese place but with a much larger selection. The price is fair for what you get. The place was clean and food was freshly prepared for the buffet. I would go back for lunch when it is less expensive. They offer Chinese food and American so they have something for everyone. We had to track down out server for refills. Despite what the people say here, lets be honest: this is a large buffet. It will get crowded and a little messy. IF these other reviewers found dirt, I don't know where. The bathrooms are always clean or in the process of being clean. The food is the same as if you went to an american buffet: good, solid food. Nothing fancy, they wouldn't have the time! The dishes are always clean, and the tables are never full of crumbs. The carpets are clean. They have a nice place to make your own noodle bowl, and some REALLY good pot stickers. There's both a chinese and american food section, both of which are pretty good! Their lo mein is delicious, and they have a really nice salad bar. I really can't complain about this place. I've been there ALL hours of the day, and I've never had a problem. My family goes back all the time:) read more

The food is great , but the staff's health practices are without a doubt a deal breaker from this point on. At least two times during my visit today i witnessed a female buffet area worker sneeze onto the food and then wipe her hands on the rag. Then she cross contaminated her rag onto a table to wipe the rail down. The same person and same rag contaminated the handles of at least 8 other buffet serving utensils . Looks can be deceiving, I've dined at this restaurant a total of 3 times. Always during a family gathering, unfortunately every time we've ate at this restaurant we've had a horrible experience. The food is NEVER FRESH, we thought maybe if we go at an earlier time maybe the food would be fresh.....
