GARBAGE. STAY FAR AWAY. Only rated 2 stars instead of 1 due to the nice environment. I ignored the bad reviews here on Yelp because I've been to places that had horrible reviews online that were actually really good. But this place is NOT an exception, and I wish I had listened to the reviewers. You get a great 1st impression when you walk in, the environment is breath-taking for about a minute or two, it looks like a 5 star restaurant. But that's about as good as it gets, things go downhill swiftly from that point forward. I took a browse of all the food and it I wondered if someone had screwed with my head, because I swore when i walked in there were many more bars with food than there was. After i looked around I realized the interior design was deliberately designed to create an optical illusion to make it look like there was more food bars, mainly due to the use of several mirrors which many chinese buffets use around the food areas to make the place look huge when you walk in. So, onto the food....it looked really good and appeared to be very good quality. Once again, looks can be deceiving. Most of the food had a nasty, low quality feel and a bizarre taste that I cannot even describe. The General Tso's chicken was ok, and so was the green beans, but everything else was pretty mediocre like your typical chinese buffet. The sushi is the worst I have ever had, it had a very nasty taste and was dried up, i love sushi very much and i could only eat two pieces of it here it was that gross, and shortly after i felt sick, I think it was partly spoiled and it was tough like rubber. The soda was disgusting, my fiance and I ordered Pibb Xtra which is what they told us they had, but when asked for a refill the waitress argued that they did not have Pibb and that they only had Dr Pepper. Regardless, the soda tasted like Coke mixed with Pibb mixed with Dr Pepper, we could not figure out what it was, I'm starting to think it was some cheap store brand soda. Please do yourself a favor and keep your family away from this place, not only is the food gross and a poor selection, but the food does not fill you up either, half hour later i was hungry. read more

Customer service leaves very much to be desired. Food could have been much much much better, especially for the price. It was a bit pricey, but if the food was good it could have been justified. We visited this place only because we were staying at the nearby hotel and the hotel had a flyer in the room that offered 10% off. I wish we had not gone here. Moreover, I wish I had visited yelp prior to going. Had no idea someone had posted a pic of the restaurant being closed for insect/rodent infestation in november 2013. We've been a few times, lunch with the kids. It's the usual buffet with a little what they call "sushi" thrown in. Our visit there tonight will be our last. We arrived an hour before closing, it's Sunday but tomorrow is a holiday so lots of people there. We noticed that they were not bringing new food out, they were putting things away. The staff started arguing amongst themselves. Pretty soon there were two tables left, us and one other family. My son and husband had just come back to the table when a waiter came to ask us if were we finished eating. We said yes. They went to the other table and asked them the same question. Within seconds we were surrounded by throngs of staff, cleaning, throwing things around, throwing buckets of bleach water on the floor. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I've worked in the restaurant business in the past and while I realize the buffet side of things is a little different, this was totally unacceptable. We made a decison, not a tough one, that that was our last visit to York Buffet. We should have gone to Wendy's across the street. Not worth the $15 per person. Especially knowing that the food at a buffet is already the lowest common denominator, we didn't need to spend our entire time there being pushed out the door and then watching them clean before they were even closed. Used too go lot over the years but food dried out and empty last three visits .Started going to Metro Dinner .good service and food.

Great sushi bar. Wife loves the Bbq grill. Food is excellent and good quality, Service is always friendly/courteous and helpful and keeps your beverage glass full. Not a bad seat in the house. Atmosphere is awesome with positive music in background. Sushi bar is special as well as the grill. Seems like there is never a wait for seats and no buffet lines even when busy. We love it. This place is too crowded, too noisy and the staff is rude. My last visit there, an employee cut right in front of me, actually pushing me aside to refill one of the buffet items. The food is not the best buffet food around and I'd prefer to go elsewhere. The price is also higher than my preferred buffet. I really can't recommend this place. read more

If possible, I would give it zero stars. First of all let me state that when I go to a buffet, I do not expect top of the line quality food and expect a majority of the food to be bland at best. But this food was not only horrible, its did not even look good. The food was barely warm, and I was there over lunch time, so the food had a faster turnover. I just do not even know what to say other than do not even waste your time. The food is gross looking and tastes worse. Even the Coke that I got to drink tasted off. Just drove my family to this buffet tonight and what a DUMP. They sat us near the kitchen. What a disgusting site. If you seen what we seen through the door, you would not come back. I would also recommend the Hibachi, if you like your food with snot or boogers. Yes, this is true. He had No gloves on and was wiping/picking his nose. Yum! Went to pay the 60 dollars and no "how was it". Oh did i also mention the back room that was served carts of seafood(crab legs, clams etc) as the rest of the restaurant(the public), had none of this. Should have left right away after biting into the bar b q pork tender you had to slice yourself! Spit it out right away and gave rest to waitress. The rest i tried was cold or luke warm. They had one guy working the hibachi/sushi/noodle soups. The guy made me hibachi which wasn't terrible but not good. there was only 3 types of sushi sitting out but you could order a roll if the guy was there. He wasn't the second time I came around. The 3rd time I came was for some udon soup and the guy says "10 minutes, go away, come back". Not gonna wait 10 minutes for udon soup. Needs more workers at the station than that one guy. General tso's was the only good thing. Ice cream was dull and messy. Hardly any desserts. American food was lacking. Chicken soup was just that, no noodles in the soup. Aroma's had a much better sushi bar and desserts, chocolate fountain, and cup ice cream. York was definitly a dirtier place than Aromas. Chinese food was better here at york but seriously lacking in choice department and the bar in the back was weak. For the price of York it totaled to 15.45 with a soda. I will never visit this place again. The customer service is terrible and they only want to make the money and do whatever they can to save a dollar even if it includes terrible customer service. They were disrespectful and very rude to my friend's daughter. They told her daughter that she looked old and was not a ten year old and tried to make my friend show a birth certificate to prove her daughter was 10. They went on to laugh and giggle at her daughter and make her pay as an adult. What type of place is this?? Just to make money. This was rude and very embarrassing and totally unacceptable as a business to behave this way and treat a child this way!! My friends are very nice people and they are twins that are 10. They even showed them baby pictures to prove it and they still did not want to hear it. TERRIBLE SERVICE! My wife and I have been regular customers at this restaurant for several years now, We have seen the restaurant going down hill for the last several months. Today we have had enough. The "gentleman" that seated us was rude to start things off. Then the food on the "hot" bar was cool to cold. It was as if they took it out of the refrigerator and put it directly on the hot bar to warm up. When we mentioned this he wanted to argue. I am in food service business myself and I have had several classes that reinforces that hot bars are to hold hot food at temp not warm up food that is cold. Food that is not properly warmed and left in the temperature danger zone, as it is called, can possibly make someone very ill. We have been coming here regularly for many years but I think its time for us to visit some other establishments. A final note...the servers have always been very friendly and pleasant in all our many, many visits. read more

I've been here several times and I'll keep coming back. I go here with friends every few weeks. There's a large selection of food, even 'American food' for those not too keen on the Asian foods but I haven't sampled it much. One of my favorite parts about it is the sushi. They have a sushi chef there most of the time and it's actually quite good. The rest of the food is good too but I think the highlight is the sushi. It's not the best food I've ever had but it's a buffet, if you want 5-star food go to an upscale chef's restaurant and pay a ton more. If you want to grub out on everything and anything in sight then a buffet is for you! Every time I've gone it was clean and the staff was decently friendly. We never felt as if we were being ignored as other reviewers have said. They always came back to fill our drinks at least once. The clientele can be a bit iffy, if you go when it's busy expect children running amok. All-in-all not a bad place, I'll go back for more. read more
