Really delicious ramen... in Sonora! My wife and I have a favorite little hole-in-the-wall ramen bar in NY on the upper east side, and have been missing good ramen for a few years now. Such a treat to have it in our home town! 5-stars for the tan tan men ramen in particular: savory, deep in character, very satisfying. The miso ramen was a bit on the bland side, especially by comparison; but that's a very small criticism. Music selection wasn't to our taste (fast-paced poppy dance music, kind of blasting at us while seated at the bar); but will happily endure a little aural assault any day to enjoy such good noodles at a reasonable price. Came across this gem maybe about a year ago. Best discovery in Sonora in a very long time. They are ridiculously nice and welcoming, the place is cozy, not too many places to sit but that's okay and it definitely doesn't stop people from coming to eat! The service is impeccable- from ordering to receiving the dishes is very quick. The food is killer. We basically always get the same thing and even though we don't come in very often the owner knows what we get and has our utensils ready before we even give her our order form. She's so freaking awesome. Our very first visit we were impressed with the whole experience but when we came back like 3 months later she remembered us. And not just like "oh you know how to order so you must have been here before" but full on "last time you guys where here..." and remembered what we ordered too! This place is just amazing. They have excellent choices to customize your food, everything is always fresh and delicious. The gyoza is extremely tasty. I haven't deviated from my ramen but I do change up the broth every once in a while. The miso and soy is my favorite so far but all the ones I've tried have been wonderful. My husband has switched from ramen to the Poke bowl and he loves it, fresh fish paired with his choice of toppings. I always leave perfectly content but I want more because it's just that good. read more

The Noodles and the broth are very tasty. Good vibes and atmosphere in this place. Cool that they have veggie broth and veggie options as an alternative to pork broth. If you don't eat pork, you can only order from the 100% vegetarian menu. Meaning if you want meat other than pork in your ramen, and no pork broth, you'd need to order a veggie ramen and pay extra for a side of the meat or fish. Why not let someone get a shrimp ramen with veggie broth? No substitutions. I get the inefficiencies but there is a large percentage of the world that does not eat pork. I can't comment on authenticity, but while the veggie broth flavor is divine, it is very high in fat. Leftovers In the fridge got a solid layer of hardened fat 1/2" thick. And the veggie ramen bowl is almost entirely noodles, would love an option with actual vegetables to make it a less heavy dish (corn, mushroom bamboo shoots don't really feel like a veggie to me and there are few of them anyway). Who could ask for more than hot, flavorful ramen on a cold and wet Motherlode day? Soup not your style? They have the best Poké bowls i have ever tried. With a fresh selection of tradition ingredients and a cozy downtown location, you really couldn't ask for anything better. Delicious! Wow the spicy broth....yumm.....What can I add to all of the already 5 star reviews? We were traveling through town and this is the only thing that didn't seem like "saloon" American grill type food which we were growing tired of after a few days in the area. They were extremely accommodating to my all of my requests regarding no rice in my Poke' bowl, no noodles in my ramen, etc. Owner was obviously hard working, and very hospitable. Yoshoku ramen is one of best I've ever tasted-and we live near good Bay Area ramen and I've been to Japan. Their tonkatsu broth is flavorful without all the sodium. They even have takoyaki which tasted like it was fresh-made on takoyaki grill instead of frozen. And Ramune and Calpis soft drinks. Really good service too-the friendly proprietor welcomed us as first time customers and was busy taking orders, serving customers and packaging to-go orders for her regular customers. read more

I was very excited to hear that a ramen spot had opened in town. I am a huge noodle fan and was really hoping this place would be as tasty as the city spots. I was not disappointed! (Yes it's different then "top ramen") I was stoked on all the different broths to choose from. And I was very impressed with the poke bowls. Everyone here in the foothills is concerned with the "freshness" of sushi grade fish in local restaurants. I was super impressed when the owner told me they go all the way to the bay area and hand pick everything. So to all of you worried... don't be. And for 21+ you must order some of their jelly sake!!!! I'd also like to point out how amazingly clean this place is! The baby bamboo shoots my friend ordered were definitely not fresh and were limp and soggy the looked like someone found a world war 2 can food supply and said hey lets serve these to people. Ramen is bland and nothing special been there twice both times i was unimpressed. read more

Whoaaaaa. I was super bratty and snobby when my husband suggested we go here on our weekend trip to Sonora. We live in SF, I'm from Hawaii, and I've very luckily traveled to Japan many many times. All three places (obviously Japan) have next level Ramen options. So I was just a little hesitant to try small town soup, cause I'm the worst. But dang this spot was so good. Got the black garlic oil ramen with pork belly. It was extremely flavorful, rich, hearty. Noodles were perfectly cooked with a little chewy bite. Toppings were great additions. Service was super friendly. I'd come to Sonora again specifically for this meal. Keep it up Yoshoku! read more

I came to Sonora for a business trip and saw the restaurant on my way into town at noon and stopped for lunch. The Ramen was excellent. Waiting for almost an hour to get the ramens, and I'm very confused that why people coming later than me get their ramen at first, and I'm the last one in the whole restaurant to have my meal though I'm not the last one to place my order. This review is long overdue...any time we're in the area Yoshoku's a must stop, especially coming home from Tahoe! Recently tried the poke bowl here & loved it just as much as their ramen. I got the yellow tail poke bowl. Fish was fresh and there were so many toppings to choose from. The regular sized bowl was so large I couldn't finish it. Sooooooo good! My husband and I came to Sonora on a whim and walked the downtown shops. We saw the ramen sign and I was so excited. I have had ramen before when I lived in Santa Cruz and this was my husbands first time. He ordered the chicken teriyaki. The ramen was outstanding. The pork broth was aaaaaaamazing and the pickled ginger was a great shredded pop of flavor. The egg was still slightly soft in the middle and it made a gooey yummy bite. I now live in Modesto but I will be definitely driving to Sonora most for the ramen here. It is small but I feel that adds to its experience. I love everything about it!! read more

This was such a great experience, you build your soup from base to toppings and the meal is exquisite, perfect for a rainy day.
