You done yet? It's unlimited apps & desserts! You Don Ya is a Japanese donburri restaurant downtown that's unique for including mini-buffet of salad, apps, soup, fried items, and dessert with your meal. It's a popular lunch spot where ordering one donburri per person opened our meal to this huge variety of included add-ons. Chicken Katsu Don comes with an aromatic and slightly spicy curry sauce over rice and crunchy katsu slices. While Gyu Don is rice topped with a heaping overlay of slightly marinated beef rolls and scallions for a clean taste. These and a few other donburri are part of their $18 weekday lunch special lineup that's delicious & satisfying especially when considering the unlimited mini-buffet access. Miso soup to start and even more rice if you're hungry. We always add the takoyaki balls & fried potato cakes along with their cabbage & sliced lettuce salads that can be dressed with refreshing sesame or honey sauce. And if you like banchan sides there are kimchi, cucumber, potato salad, seaweed salad and sometimes spicy fish cake for variety. Fresh orange slices and matcha ice cream are great ways to finish a Japanese meal. When we came for lunch, it was quite packed with a lineup queue. They also do takeout though without the mini-buffet, and I remember trying their signature Hamachi Nabe when they first opened featuring colourful fish slices cooked directly in the hot stone bowl. The menu has a huge variety of donburri as nearby guests tried everything from Yakiniku Don to Unagi Don or the lunch specials. The location is across from the Eaton Centre, walk-in only. Skip it or hit it? As much as I prefer to gatekeep this, it's a tasty & fairly priced downtown lunch!

I had no idea this place was this generous with proportions! My wife and I came here for a quick bite à week ago and were welcomed with a buffet style Japanese restaurant. First you order your rice bowl, and then you grab your side dishes and toppings from the buffet (honestly it's so filling you don't even need to overfill) thế place is pretty tiny so it's not that great for larger parties but excellent for a quick dinner with a friend or by yourself. Thế buffet is all you can eat style but the rice bowls were the star - I ordered a miso cured salmon and I'm still thinking about it. Service was lovely and polite.

You Don Ya has such an interesting concept. Not only do they have their regular menu, but they also offer a selection of sides and ice cream in an all you can eat style. They have many types of Donburi bowls and if you order one you get access to their mini buffet section, which features many things like kimchi, potato salad, takoyaki, salads, fruit and various other things! When I went there we were seated immediately, as there is plenty of seating but as we wait our meal, I did notice the place filled up. It was a cozy spot was clean decor, but it was a little loud since it was so busy. The servers were super kind but a little difficult to get their attention since we were in the back. We tried the Karaage Don and the Miso-cured Salmon Don. Both were delicious! The salmon was flaky and the chicken was juicy. The Karaage is particular was a huge portion. The prices here are reasonable, especially considering we get access to the mini buffet section. From there we tried a little bit if everything. The miso soup was good, the different kimchis were fresh and so were the salads. The takoyaki was good and I really enjoyed the croquettes were very yummy. They also had ice cream for dessert at the end, in the mini buffet which was solid. They only had vanilla and matcha, and the vanilla was better in my opinion. In my opinion you can get a lot of food and have a second meal to take home! I always leave full and satisfied with my meal and I would recommend to anyone looking for some delicious donburi bowls and plenty of food to keep you filled for hours.

They rotate their mini buffet so the sides will differ. I got an unagi rice bowl and it came out quick...too quick imo. Maybe they pre cooked everything and just heated it up. The eel was a bit fishy for my liking - I've had eel at other places before without that fishy taste. Not worth the price for a 28$ bowl. But if you want to save money, they do have daily specials

I was super excited to try their Donburi's and AYCE mini buffet experience and You Don Ya did not disappoint. The concept is that you order a donburi bowl and help yourself to their buffet that includes miso soup, salad, fried dishes, condiments and even ice cream. An absolute steal deal! We ordered the Karaage Don and Yakinaki Don. Both were delicious, generously portioned and did not feel dry. I'd definitely return the next time I'm craving a bowl. Service was a bit slow and the restaurant was packed the day we visited.

Stopped by You Don Ya in Toronto for a quick meal and it was a solid spot for donburi. The space is small but cozy with a simple, modern feel, and the service was quick and friendly. The food came out quickly and the portions were generous and the ingredients tasted fresh. The meat was well cooked and well seasoned. The toppings had a good balance of flavor without feeling too heavy. Overall, great spot for a casual lunch or an easy dinner. I'll come back to try more of their bowls if I'm nearby.

I love this place and it is my first time. It's quite small but amazing ambience and beautiful aesthetic. Staff are always around to help. Food is delicious and reasonable priced and truly, the complimentary sides will fill you up. Special shoutout to the kimchi and vanilla ice cream, both from the complimentary sides. I went solo, and it is one main dish per person. I got the chicken curry katsu dish and I was full half way through. Amazing portions!!! However I was just reading other comments and I agree with one of them, my food did also come out very quick. I'm not sure what's going on there, but the quality was great nonetheless.

Came here after an afternoon run and wow, really it the spot if you're craving a good rice bowl! Restaurant was clean and staff were very friendly! I ordered the: Karubi Don - $25 - Angus beef steak with onion and sauce on rice. The beef was incredibly tender and soft, flavourful and the dish was overall simple but done so well! (8.5/10) I also got a miso soup on the side - $2 Overall I really enjoyed You Don Ya, I'd say it's a little expensive for what it is but very tasty and definitely recommend

You Don Ya is a convenient place to get that don craving taken care of. They have a long/deep restaurant with table (and bench) seating that can be arranged as needed, we saw many 2, 4, 6 groups, there is also a "bar" individual seating area for anyone on solo queue. Service was quick and the portions were great. It seemed quite popular and had many people visit on a regular weeknight. We had the: - bacon steakie don; nice and soft well marinated meat slices, we got an extra add-on of a boiled egg - katsu don (w fried chicken); they did this classic justice, it was nice and saucy and hot/steamy - miso soup; your basic sushi/korean restaurant miso soup, nice, warm, simple Would be back to try their unagi and karaage don (which our table neighbor order and was huge, definitely had food envy). Not having tried maybe Donburi restaurants in Toronto yet, this will be my good to for now!

Came here with some coworkers on a Tuesday night and got the katsu don ($15) which comes with the choice of either panko fried pork or chicken, along with egg mixture and onion. I ended up getting the chicken. Service was very quick and our server was super friendly and came to check on us throughout our meal. As we had a larger group we got seated in a more private room, which we really appreciated. The food was delicious and filling, and most of us got a takeout box to go. My coworkers also really enjoyed their meals and they got the karaage don, gyu curry and bacon steakie don (all of which looked delicious). There is also a discount if you pay cash!

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

We walked into a lively, casual space that works especially well for groups, celebrations, or any meal where you want to take your time and enjoy the experience. The energy in the room is high, with the sound of grilling and conversation filling the space, and the table setup encourages a longer, more relaxed pace than a typical restaurant meal. The biggest highlight is the meat selection. The quality is consistently strong, with different cuts and marinades that give each plate its own flavor. The miso steak is one of the standout items, with a really good balance of savory, slightly sweet, and rich flavors. The marinated meats are where Gyubee really shines, coming seasoned well and developing a great char from grilling at the table. We worked through a range of options including kalbi, hanger steak, and sausage, mixing and matching as we went. The fun part is being able to control the cooking yourself, whether you prefer a lighter sear or a deeper grilled flavor, and the grill setup makes it easy to cook at your own pace. The sides and extras are also better than what we usually expect from an all you can eat BBQ spot. The sushi was surprisingly enjoyable, with smaller portions that made it easy to try different rolls without filling up too quickly. The bibimbap is another good addition, especially when paired with the grilled meats. Takoyaki and other sides helped break up the meal and added variety beyond just ordering meat after meat. The spread is broad enough that you can build a well rounded meal without feeling like you are stuck in a single category. Service was a strong part of the experience. Even with the restaurant being busy, the staff were attentive and checked in regularly to make sure we had what we needed. They kept the table moving, helped with ordering, and made the process feel smooth despite the constant flow of guests. The wait can be the biggest challenge, especially during dinner hours, but the service once seated helped make up for it. The staff also handled the high turnover of tables well, keeping the pace steady without making us feel rushed. Gyubee is one of those places where the experience is just as important as the food. The combination of grilling at the table, quality meats, good sides, and a fun group atmosphere makes it a great choice for a longer meal with friends or family. It is worth planning ahead for the wait because the meal itself delivers the kind of relaxed, interactive dining experience that makes you want to come back. The format encourages you to slow down, cook at your own pace, and enjoy the meal as a shared activity rather than just a quick dinner.

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.
