Long overdue for me to have updated my December 2020 COVID-period review of this outstanding Germantown establishment. But as I said then, "I'll definitely be back," and I have been frequently. They offer an array of ciders, if you're into that, but also have excellent rotating guest beers on tap from local breweries if you are more into beers. Most recently, I had an excellent Frill Porter from Carbon Copy. The menu is modest but more than adequate. I recommend their hand pies, and the bean chili currently on the menu is great. Many vegetarian and vegan options. From time to time they have guest chefs, so on those occasions the menu might be different. The "tasting room" has a remarkably cozy pub feel to it. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They do include, as they'll tell you, a 20% service charge, so the tip is essentially included in the bill. Note: they are open regularly on Fridays and Saturdays only, except for special or private events on other evenings of the week. Check their website - I think the info on the Yelp page is incorrect. I'm pet sitting in the area (from Reno, NV) and took the roughly mile walk over to check this place out. Great little place. This is neither a compliment or an insult but my mom would love this place. The cideria on happy hour was surprisingly tasty. Super great service. The main guy behind the bar had enough (honest) riz that I'd cast him in a movie. Tried a flight of 4 other ciders. Some had a stronger flavor profile than others. As someone who doesn't like beer, but LOVES a good cider, this cozy spot is a dream come true! I met some friends here before seeing a show at Quintessance theater last night. It's about a 4 minute drive from the theater. We didn't have food, but I loved the blood orange cider I had! It was tart and not sweet. Definitely recommend! My friends did the flights, which they really liked since they got to try a bunch and settle on a favorite. I had a sip of the ginger flavor and it was very ginger forward. I felt like each flavor actually tasted how it was described, which isn't always the case with cider. I would definitely come back here and try their food next time! read more

This spot was hopping on a Saturday night following a live string quartet performance! Cute space (with covered, outdoor seating on the side with heat lamps) filled with patio tables'n'chairs. Service was slow, but a server had called out so one was covering every table. Cider offerings were solid, and it was nice to see a number of non-alcoholic offerings. Food wise, underwhelming...pretzel was nicely browned, but a bit raw inside, same with a number of our table's hand pies (especially the spinach pie) and even the big cookie (this made the cookie chewy, which wasn't a bad thing). Salad was unevenly dressed, though the vinaigrette itself was nice when it appeared. Good to see a lively spot in Gtown--here's to increased consistency go forward! read more

Amazing ciders and decent snacks! We visited on a Saturday night and ordered a flight each. Young American has (at least) three standing ciders and three seasons on tap at any point. They offer flights of four (either the three standing and one seasonal or any four of your choice for a bit more). Being my first visit, I got the standard flight which had a traditional, a ginger, a cherry, and (for my seasonal) elderberry ciders. Elderberry rocks, the cherry was amazing, and the ginger was a pleasant surprise. Nothing wrong with the traditional, but it was lost with the sea of other flavor offerings. We snacked on their meat pies (with an upgrade to include a side salad). The quality was great, however, the portion felt a bit small. Further, $2 extra for a side salad which was literally just lettuce was a bit disappointing. Of course, we didn't come for the food - still it was a nice addition. I've been told they offer full dinners on certain nights (Thursdays & Fridays) and I'm excited to give that a try. I certainly recommend Young American to any cider lovers! read more

The staff here are so friendly. My husband I came here for a chef pop-up and everyone was attentive and even offered us a little extra from the hot apple cider and liquor drink they gave us. Met my friend who lives in Germantown for brunch today and she had us at this cute spot. Such a cozy inside with eclectic decor, high tables and low tables and an Irish trio playing for St. Patrick's day, but we opted for the sunny patio on this March morning. Seems this place does guest chef's for a month at a time and the chef for March is Lynh Pham of Angie's Vietnamese Cuisine. I ordered the eggs Benedict (Bánh Mi inspired eggs benedict, served over a French baguette or over greens and drizzled with a wasabi hollandaise). It was really good! The eggs were cooked perfectly with the perfect runny yolk and the slices of baguette were measured just-so under the eggs so they didn't overpower the dish. The savory Bloody Mary (I had two!) was a great blend of spice and the outside patio was a great space. And breakfast also called for the iced Vietnamese coffee that was so delicious and hit the spot. My friend ordered a sour cherry cider that looked tasty. I am not often in Germantown but when I find myself there, I will certainly find myself here. read more

Got to enjoy this cidery in the historic Germantown-Mount Airy neighborhood of northwest Philadelphia when visiting friends who live in the area. The tasting room was still closed due to COVID, but you were able to order their hard ciders and some light food bites from a pick up window upfront and enjoy them on their patio. We all selected various 12oz pours to enjoy. They also offer growlers to-go. The patio had covered and open seating options with simple tables. There is also a pretty cool mural painted on the side of the building next door. But for me the highlight was the cidery owner's cat. Neko was friendly and I loved that he came up for some rubs while I enjoyed my cider with friends. I had the Bourbon & Bitters, Hopped, and Blood Orange. Honestly, I liked all three. None of their hard ciders were overly sweet or tart. They were honestly almost perfect for me. Loved that they were made in-house using all PA apples. My friends got the Smoky-spicy shroom savory hand pie. We tried a bit and it was alright. To me $7 was a bit pricy for what it was, but guess good to have some snacks available if in a pinch. So glad my friend brought us here, if I lived local this would absolutely before a good to place for me. read more

My friend is vegan so they wanted to check out their vegan French toast so I tagged along for brunch and ordered the same thing it and I just say it was delicious it was very fresh, warm and soft. I also ordered their homemade biscuit with jam and butter that was really good. Came here Saturday night around 8 pm. Was the best spot I could have asked for! Cute and cozy and very vintage esque. I cannot say enough about the house made seltzer !!!! It was a lime flavor and the most smooth natural tasting carbonated seltzer I've ever had. I added some vodka for a fun twist. Literally delicious. Not sugary or chemically like high noon or truly. So good. And the route 23 hand pie was also to die for ..... I was drooling I got 2. Service was wonderful and I loved how not crowded it was. As someone who prefers cider any day over beer, I was excited to try Young American Cider when I first heard about it! My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday evening and sat outside. They had a beautiful patio area and you can tell it was popular with locals who came just to chill and hangout. We both got the cider tasting and chose the Tulsi as our seasonal option. Both being Indian we were excited but nerviosa to see how it would taste and it was actually our favorite one out of the four! For food we got the brussel sprouts, spinach hand pie, route 23 hand pie, soft pretzel and the big ass cookie. Everything was delicious! And when they say big ass cookie, they really mean it! As I write this we are approaching Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer.  What better way to mourn summer's passing than to go to one of Philly's awesome cideries to try to cheer up.  Fortunately I have a terrific one near where I live.  It is called Young American Hard Cider and serves a variety of apple and fruit ciders with some tasty bar snacks.  This time I went with a fruit cider - specifically the sour cherry - and loved it.  My house-made spinach pie was the perfect accompaniment.  Young America Hard Cider is a cool & wonderful spot to not only just know about in Northwest Philly....but to imbibe some awesome libations. read more

I happened upon this cider tasting room while I was in the area waiting for a friend and what a pleasant surprise for me since I'm not familiar with the area. I was in search for a bite to eat and saw this nice patio and tasting room while walking by. The cider (ginger flavor for me) was delightful - not too tart or sweet or too funky. They also have kombucha, non-alcoholic ciders, and seltzers for drink options. The kitchen had a variety of hand pies, but I have the Brussels sprouts and the soft pretzel. The warm pretzel was a memorable made-in-house doughy snack! This seemed like a neighborhood favorite and I can see why! Such a cute, intimate spot. Great addition to Germantown! I tried ALL of the ciders. Most of the are drier but the raspberry (seasonal) is on the sweet side. I really enjoyed the ginger & blood orange. The pies are fantastic! I tried the Route 23 & Smoky-Spicy Shroom. They were great, but phenomenal when I ate them together. What a welcome addition to the Northwest Philadelphia dining scene! Have had a dinner and a couple of memorable brunches here this fall, very cozy thanks to heaters and a fire pit. Fun to try the different ciders -- ginger is a favorite so far -- and the small but varied menu satisfied everyone in our party. The chicken pot pie special was everything a pot pie should be, hearty and comforting with the right mix of chicken and its vegetable friends. At brunch we tried the tosilog, a flavor-packed traditional Filipino breakfast dish, soyrizo eggs benny, and the smoked mushroom biscuits and gravy. really excited to have finally tried this spot. we went for the first time a few weekends ago and sat in the patio area in the evening. it was super cozy with a fire going. my husband had the cheesesteak hand pie and i had the spinach , they were both so good ! really great taste and texture. we also had a pretzel and i'm actually addicted to their pretzels now. we tried a few of the ciders and have landed on the blue ginger as our favorite. we've made quick stops back a few times since to for growler refills and pretzels, and are looking forward to coming back to sit down for more hand pies soon. everyone there is really nice as well. a great spot to hang out at or grab to-go cider/snacks in the neighborhood read more
