We had lunch today and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had a brisket sandwich and I had a pulled pork. Both were outstanding. Their barbecue sauce is absolutely perfect. Great balance between vinegar and sweet and a nice black pepper kick. We had our two Jack Russell pups with us (Whisky and Pippa). They shared a half chicken. Customer service is horrible!! Lady behind the counter was terribly rude! The BBQ was overly greasy bathed in it! The brisket should have had a smoke ring and i saw none. Asking for pork ribs apparently was a very sore subject! Oh guess what they ran out in the middle of the day!! There are no signs until you get inside stating cash or Venmo only no cards none!! We stopped in this BBQ establishment and we're pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly. The portions were good. The chopped beef was not fatty at all. Great bbq spot in Lampasas that I found craving after hiking in Colorado Bend state park. Only bbq spot I found open late and dog friendly with outdoor seating. Service was very kind and asked if it's our first time which it was. Opted for the 3 meat plate to try a little of everything. I almost had to leave Texas without any good bbq. I had tried other places. This place is the real deal. I made it to the Rockies before I finished it all. My car smelled like home the whole time. On the way to our Airbnb at Fredericksburg, we wanted to stop by and get a light snack. We got a brisket sandwich, cole slaw, and a pickle. The sandwich was great. We enjoyed the delicious smoky brisket, and the portion was very generous. We also loved the cole slaw as much as the sandwich. It was fresh, and had the perfect amount of sugar and vinegar. So good! I've had the BBQ in the past (it's good) but this review is for the breakfast. It is sooooo good! One of the best breakfast burritos I've had that I didn't make myself. I went for bacon, eggs, hash browns and brisket. Damn. There were more options but this is the perfect combo for me. Spouse had the light breakfast which is the standard fare of toast, hash browns, sausage patties and two eggs. Nothing lite about it. It was filling and delish. Kids had waffles. Important to me was that the tea was good. So many BBQ places have stale, moldy tasting tea. This was clean and sweet. Price was great. Same breakfast in Austin would run you $35-$50. What this place really has going for it is variety. My husband was able to order breakfast, while I ordered a brisket Sandwich for lunch. Unfortunately, while the brisket was flavored well, it was a little dry - just added more sauce. My husband had a good breakfast with two meats, eggs, hash browns. They had several types of stubborn soda and big red in their fountain dispenser. I saw they also had lemonade anti. I went for the blackberry soda which I really enjoyed. When you're in Texas, you think BBQ. I found myself in a small town about an hour and a half outside of Austin in a town called Lampasas. Do a search for BBQ and Youngs BBQ shows up. I believe they're the only show in town for BBQ. From what I could tell, they're a family owed restaurant and when I arrived in town, it only had 1 review with no photos. Well, now 2 reviews and I thought to give them a little social media PR by adding some of my own photos. I had the 2 meat combo with sliced beef and pork ribs. Both meats had great flavors on their own. Add their home made BBQ sauce and it gives it quite the zing! Note, they only have 1 type of BBQ sauce which is like a tangy peppery sauce. So, if you prefer a more traditional thick sweet sauce, it's not yet available or at least I didn't see it available. My recommendation to the owners would be to add a thick sweet BBQ sauce as an alternative to their tangy BBQ sauce they already serve. My meal also came with 2 sides so I chose their cole slaw and macaroni salad. Both are made from scratch. Their cole slaw is different as it is tossed in a vinaigrette type dressing vs the traditional white creamy dressing. So, if you ever find yourself passing through Lampasas, stop by Youngs BBQ and give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

We made a trip from Sun City to Lampassas, Tx to eat at Young's BBQ after seeing the restaurant on an episode of the "Daytripper". We arrived after the lunchtime rush and ordered brisket, smoked Turkey , and jalapeño cheese sausage. The brisket was great with excellent smoky bark. The smoked Turkey was great. The sausage had a unique jalapeño/cheese and spice combination. We are really glad we saw the "Daytripper" episode and followed up with a day trip to Lampassas. read more

These burritos are Very small not at all what a burrito should be. All tortilla and no flavor. hardly anything in it. the potato & egg so salty was hard to eat (I couldn't find the salt packet that was used) Tried the BBQ sauce, Nasty! unless you like vinegar. The brisket wasn't my favorite - I found it a bit dull although it was tender and juicy ((even at 6:30pm) - but there's plenty else to eat. Love the sauce - not too sweet and very tangy, and the vinaigrette coleslaw was the perfect crunchy tart antidote to the rich meat. Potato salad was ok but pretty standard. The warm cobbler comes in little glass jelly jars with canning lids - very clever. I would definitely return if I'm back this way. Wasn't crazy about the food but this review is about their customer relation skills. We ordered several plates and on the 2 sides picked chips. Bags of chips we right next to where we ordered so we picked out chips. We also ordered drinks and went to our table. Noticed there were cups by the drinks so I asked if we set ourselves and the cashier said yes I forgot to tell you. Our plates came out with chips and we were told we should not have gotten chips those are not the ones that comes with the plates. How are we supposed to know that??? Before we finished eating they brought us a bill for the additional chips. Had I not been with my grandkids I would not have paid it because that was wrong for me to pay for your cashiers mistake!!! read more
