My take on Young's Buffet as someone who has frequented buffets and Asian restaurants in the all over the west and east coast: I came on a Thursday afternoon right before dinner rush, about 4:30-5pm. The building and ambiance is pretty typical for a Chinese buffet. They had the Thursday special going, which was $14.99. They have about 5 hot food areas, a hibachi grill corner, a fruit/cold section, a sushi area, a chocolate fountain, and single serve ice cream. Overall, they had a decent amount of variety of food, as well. In terms of food, some items had two labels on them. I got what I thought was hibachi chicken but on the other side it was called bourbon chicken. The pork egg roll, had no pork at all. The cheese wonton had crab, so it was a crab rangoon and it was pretty decent. The sweet and sour chicken was old and cold. The orange chicken was overly preserved and was cold. The black pepper chicken was pretty decent. The char sui roast pork was VERY old, I had to spit it out. The fried rice was extremely yellowish orange??? So it's a bit of a hit or miss depending on what you get. For customer service, I thought it was okay. My waitress did give me the wrong drink but she fixed it quick. We have eaten at Young's Chinese Buffet three times in the past several months. It has been consistently good with a wide variety of dishes, including all the traditional Chinese favorites. We ate there this past Thanksgiving Day and it was definitely worth the price. In addition to all the Thanksgiving food (turkey, ham, prime rib, etc.), they had crab legs, mussels, and a huge assortment of desserts. The restaurant was crowded and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. I don't understand why this restaurant has so many bad reviews here on Yelp because the restaurant is clean, service is good and the food selection is excellent. Don't waste your money. This place is over priced what what it is. The few selections of food they offer is OKAY at best. Floors are slippery/sticky. Not many options for kids so if you have kids, don't go. Young's Buffet is open after closing for Covid and after a renovation. It's our first return visit since they reopened after Covid and was pleasantly surprised. The cleanliness has greatly improved and the food selection and quality is what you would expect at a better Chinese buffet Where can you go to gorge on peel and eat shrimp and succulent steamed baby clams for the price it's a great value. The shrimp appeared to be large-mediums 21-30s lb very fresh steamed that morning and chilled. Had two plates the cocktail sauce was top notch not watery with a bit of heat from horseradish. I stick to the seafood pass on most of the hot dishes, great imitation seafood salad and the mussels were decent. Desserts were trash prepackaged commercial fare but they did have a legit cheesecake. Sushi was okay not a wide selection of real sushi avocado and cream cheese does not belong in sushi. The Nigiri and Uramaki was decent only disappointment not a lot of Ahi. The wasabi and pickled ginger was quite good. The service staff was attentive and very polite cost was reasonable we'll be back. -- appears to be under new management. read more

As a Palm Bay resident for almost my entire life, I've come to understand what the average food experience here is like. If you're eating fast food, it's just going to be an acceptable experience where you're getting what you pay for and you'd be crazy to complain. If you're eating cultural foods like Chinese or Indian, it's a mixed bag, where you'll rarely get good but when it is, it's fantastic, and you'll usually get varying levels of bad and usually nothing in-between. We're not exactly living in a cultural Mecca here; Palm Bay is a small redneck city with big dreams that peaked in high school but will spend the rest of its life bragging about how awesome it is. I say all of this because I see a lot of other reviewers for Young's Buffet saying "IT'S 5 STARS, I MEAN IT'S A BUFFET, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?" Well, I expected to pay a fair price for edible food, and unfortunately, Young's Buffet is EXCEPTIONALLY awful. As it's a buffet, the service is obviously not really in question here. What do you wanna drink, here's your plate, see you at the register. There's nothing to really fault here as far as service is concerned. It's standard buffet stuff. But dear reader, you go to a buffet to eat! And if you've been to at least one Chinese buffet, you know what to reasonably expect. You're going to be shoulder to shoulder with people breathing on the food, putting the tongs back in the wrong place, and having words over the crab legs. You know that the temperature of the food is probably going to be lukewarm at best, you know that any food tray with just a little bit left in it is a health hazard to scrape onto your plate, and you know that you're just there to fill your stomach and not savor authentic delicacies from the far east. My mother and I decided to take dear old dad out for his birthday. He likes to graze and eat a little bit of everything, and they hadn't been to Young's Buffet in a while, so we figured why not? We left asking ourselves why instead. The seafood was the furthest thing from fresh. The fried rice looked like it never saw the inside of a pan; it was pasty white with a La Croix level of robustness to it, and the rice was so overcooked that it could've been porridge. The pork was rock hard and totally inedible. The chicken was dry and flavorless. Everything overall had a distinct lack of seasoning. We pretty much took one bite of each thing and didn't finish it. We're not the type to make a big ruckus about our restaurant experiences and we temper our expectations and are reasonable; we were going to a buffet, not a high class restaurant with a dress code. But even by buffet standards, this was officially, and I mean this with no exaggeration, the worst food we had ever half-eaten. What's worse? We were going to stop by and see a friend of the family on the way back, so we asked them if they wanted us to bring them anything. We did warn them about our experience, and they said that it would be fine because they're not too picky. They had us order the hunan pork for them for takeaway. For the uninitiated, hunan pork is basically stir-fried pork, with a few vegetables tossed in, and it's noted for being spicy and packed with flavor. What our friend got instead was a takeout container so packed with slop that it was leaking. The container didn't tilt and just drip out some juice; this thing was packed to bursting with a thick, syrupy brown sauce that just tasted like pure sugar. No spices, no heat, no flavor, just raw sweetness with a thick motor oil consistency. The container was packed with, I kid you not, 95% vegetables that were barely cooked, and just a few thin slivers of pork that looked like sad brown shoestring laces. If I had to guess, I'd say that there were maybe 2 ounces of pork in there, and a solid pound of vegetables. (I'll give you a minute to Google hunan pork to see what it's supposed to look like from a variety of sources.) All in all, the experience was intensely disappointing. It doesn't matter if you're an executive chef at a 5-star restaurant or just your average person looking to put something in their stomach, the food here by all accounts is disgusting. You'd only enjoy this place if you've never had decent food in your life, or your expectations are lower than the dirt. I wouldn't feed my leftovers to my dog. read more

Youngs is a great restaurant with the widest selection of food that we have ever seen. My wife and I have been going here once a week for over a year. The selection is such that we can go once a week and not have the same dish. The selection of food runs from meatloaf and pizza which are delicious to wonton soup. Their egg foo young is the best I have ever had. The salad bar is full of the freshest you will ever see. My favorite is their creamy hard ice cream, six flavors. Find everything from soup to Knott's including a sushi, Mongolian buffet dairy buffet peeling in eat shrimp oysters, seafood salad was delicious and about 10 or more hot Chinese food tables. When we arrived we were told it was dinner time even though we arrived before 4pm we still sat down and were trying to enjoy a very important celebration with family and friends while staff rudely reached over us counting and interrogating us about our children's ages, bill splitting, etc. AS SOON AS WE SAT DOWN TO EAT OUR FIRST PLATE OF FOOD! We were then told that our children were not the ages we said they were (my step daughter being the main point of concern because she's a tall 10 yr old), we let them know that they were the ages we were saying they were and were met with multiple staff members telling us we were lying and that we didn't have the money to pay (we winded up paying more than our bill amount for this remark) We were then told that they needed to see a legal document to ensure that my stepdaughter was the age we were saying she was. Ridiculous as it may seem I drove home and retrieved her birth certificate to prove to staff we were in fact not lying. I was then told that my stepdaughter was 12 and not 10 even after I showed the birth certificate because the woman calculated wrong and once again I corrected her with proof. Me and my 3 friends went to this place and only two of us ate there and these distracted incoherent workers who had their heads distracted with music with their AirPods . This lead to the disaster of them ignoring us and not hearing us say only two of us are paying. Shortly after we were done they made the other two pay when they didn't eat and they just sat down with us and kept company.
