Sue was so kind and patient as we discussed the changes and were extremely excited when she called in a short and realistic time frame to pick them up. They fit perfectly! I'd previously rated this place for cleaning service (2 star to be kind to a family business, but probably could have been 1 star for the attitude the lady gave). I'd like to update it to 1 star, although I wish it could be zero or negative... Unfortunately, I haven't been able to completely avoid it (even though I go out of my way to take cleaning and dry cleaning elsewhere farther from here) because sadly UPS delivers here as an access point (for which the store receives money) when I'm at work during the day. On some occasions it's been plain difficult to get my package. On other occasions the lady tells me it is not here, even though I show her the email from UPS saying it is READY FOR PICKUP AT AMAZING CLEANERS #2 at 517 Laguna St, San Francisco, CA. She continues to say UPS sometimes sends these notices out a day early (that is is READY? for pickup? even though UPS scans everything in order to send the notice?) Or that it is at a different location (even though the email says her location, and that she signed for it already.) Or it is lost. And that I should contact UPS... Then she waves me off dismissively and just walks away to the back. Could not care LESS (same attitude as when she ruins clothing apparently). I'm trying to get UPS to never deliver here, I will go out of my way to carry a heavy package from farther away, if it means it doesn't randomly get "lost" or unable for me to pickup (even though I rush home specifically DURING the open business hours of Amazing Cleaners #2). I hope UPS reconsiders having them as an access point. read more

this is my local cleaners...even though there are like 5 within 2 blocks of me, i prefer this one. They have been very consistent, the prices are competitive and plain and simply, they are nice. They know my name, always greet me and actually SMILE when i come in. note that you cannot use a credit card unless the bill is $20 or more. Which is typically okay for me since i wait until i have no clean dress shirts to bring them in...but just FYI. The service is worth it. read more

Honestly I try so hard to be friendly but these employees are so rude! I use their Fedex pick up location and they seem to really dislike people who pick up packages. I have a package there and they didn't even try to find it. Now I have to cancel my order which I know is on their shelves. Please CLOSE your fedex up location if you DON'T like your customers. tl;dr: The husband and wife who run Amazing Cleaners #2: -- are exceptionally kind -- have gone out of their way to help me over the last five years -- do great work I've gone here exclusively for my dry cleaning (and the occasional wash and fold), spent hundreds of dollars here and could not be happier with my experience. I'm surprised by the negative reviews here because I trust this place with anything. I've brought in delicate silk dresses and blouses (Joie, Alice and Olivia, etc), Theory suits, down comforters, cashmere, matelasse blankets, etc. -- basically, expensive stuff I wouldn't want to risk damaging -- and it's all been taken care of really well. I've never had a bad experience -- in fact, they've gone out of their way to call me to let me know they'll be closed or going on vacation in case I want to come pick up my stuff. (I've been bad about leaving it there a long time sometimes -- we're talking months -- but they've always been friendly about calling and reminding me to come get it.) I've never seen pen on any of my items or had anything come back in anything but great condition. They're a really hardworking team and the reviews here are unfairly skewed against them. I've just started using Amazing Cleaners for wash'n'fold. My experience has been very good! Not amazing, but it is tough for a dry cleaning place to be amazing (at least on a consistent basis). 99 cents a pound. Seems to be the market rate in Hayes Valley. What is not amazing is that they will be closed for the next three weeks (through mid-August) because the whole family is vacationing in Hong Kong. Maybe amazing for them but kind of blows for me. Now I have to do one of the following: a. Find another wash'n'fold place for the next three weeks b. Man up and do my own laundry at a laundromat c. Mooch off of nearby friends with washers/dryers I will most likely go with a. Seriously, you guys get pen all over my new t-shirt and brand new panties and take zero accountability, offering me 10% off. Awesome. I am going elsewhere. I have two items with pockets: aprons and chef coats. It is not so difficult to make sure those items are clear of ink filled devices. Upon my complaint, I was told: well, you're not the first. I would avoid this place for alterations. I took a pair of jeans here for hemming (had folded them to the specific length I desired before coming in). The guy at the counter measured them to the fold and asked me what length (in inches) that I wanted. I indicated I would like them hemmed to the fold I had provided. After some discussion, I ultimately chose one of the two measurements in inches he proposed (seemed a bit unnecessary given I had already provided the desired length). Anyway, I picked the pants up later and they were clearly longer than I had specified. No big deal, I went back and asked if they could do another pair of my jeans and while they were at it if they could redo the earlier pair to the desired length (caveat: never in my life have I encountered a tailor who wouldn't fine tune their work without charge if not done to customer's liking the first time). The man at the counter said he would charge me full price again because I had given him a specific length in inches to hem to. I found this a bit ridiculous because I only settled on the inch measure when he made me do it based on his own measurements. I was happy to keep coming back to this place despite bad reviews because this place is convenient, but given their shoddy work and unwillingness to repair it, I'll have to find somewhere else to go. This place is in business not because they offer services worth paying for but because of their location. If you can deal with the inconvenience of going elsewhere, you'll likely be much better off. read more

When we have to switch to another cleaner for our fluff & fold while these folks are on their annual vacation it makes me appreciate the little details they take the time on that much more. Amazing Cleaners #2 simply make laundry less of a pain in the butt, not only by washing things for us, but also by making it easy to put away the clean clothes. Socks are matched & ready to put in the drawer. Clothes are grouped by kind (e.g. undershirts or underwear in a stack that can just be lifted from the bundle and set in the drawer). It really makes a difference. And black clothes don't come back with white fuzz from towels all over them. Nothing fancy perhaps, but reliable and that's a lovely thing. read more

I have been coming to this place because it is the nearest one to my house. However this does not mean that I have always been satisfied with their work. And because of this reason, I am actively looking for a new dry cleaning place. The few times that I have been here, I have been disappointed. They have left stains or water marks on my husband ties, or stains that I asked to be removed have remained. I think this relationship is not working out anymore. They ripped my boyfriend's pants in two places to the point they are completely ruined and when we brought them in when we noticed (about 3 days later) they just claimed it wasn't from them. Despite some of the bad reviews, I went to Amazing Cleaners. It's close to my house, and I'm lazy. You know how that works. No dry cleaning for me. Just needed 3 dress shirts laundered. It's a pretty hard thing to mess up. I picked the 3 shirts up 48 hrs later. I was initially impressed with the speed and price. Shirt 1: Fine. Cleaned, nothing wrong. Shirt 2: One of the front buttons broken in half. Shirt 3: All 4 sleeve buttons look like they were chewed on by a dog. They're still there, and they still work... but it just sucks. It's a shirt I've worn maybe 5 times. I took the two damaged shirts back, the woman kind of looked at them and gave me a blank stare. Absolutely no apology. She said, "these buttons are too heavy. Heavier than normal. The machine breaks them." Well... that's one explanation I guess. I suggested maybe they should tell customers that, before just ruining their clothes. She didn't respond at all. After my asking (she didn't offer), she took the shirts back and put new buttons on, free of charge, so I'm okay giving her 1 star. If not for that I'd be bitching about not being able to give zero stars. But I still never got an apology. And just like that, I'll never go back. read more

My last experience, they charged me an extra $4 because there is a $20 minimum and my order was $16. When I asked about why, they said it was "the credit card company's rule." Really? I have been using Amazing Cleaners since I moved into the neighborhood earlier this year and until now, I was happy with their work. Recently I brought in an expensive sweater (that I had just bought at Nida) to be dry cleaned and when I picked it up, I was surprised to see it hanging on a hanger, since it is very chunky and heavy. Needless to say, I was worried. As soon as I got home, I tried it on and was horrified to see that they had completely stretched it out and the sweater lost the wonderful shape it had before I took it in. It was not the same sweater and it looked horrible on. I was very upset. The next morning, I brought in the sweater to see what they would do. I explained the situation to the older Asian man, who immediately started arguing with me, saying they could not have stretched out the sweater. I kept my calm and asked what they could do to fix this, but he was completely unwilling to do anything. He even went so far as to blame me for this. Never have I been treated with such disrespect and poor customer service in all my life. I will never use this cleaner again and urge anyone who spends good money on their clothing to find a different cleaner as soon as possible. read more

I must reflect the sentiments of many regarding this establishment. The husband and wife are lovely people, very nice and friendly. But do not ever take them anything that you love - they have ruined many a button on my favorite shirts and have stained my shirts as well. Then, when you confront them and show them the problem, they use the old reverse psychology trick on you and make it seem that it's your fault - that you weren't clear in your instructions to them. I have repeatedly told them "hand dry clean, by hand please, not with press machine" only to come and find all of my buttons smashed and the wicked details on the shirts pressed into oblivion by some evil machine and a hand that does not care. +1 star : 1) The husband and wife who run this business are very friendly. 2) Amazing Cleaners #2 is conveniently located around the corner from my apartment which is probably the reason why I used them. They do a decent (but not amazing) job. -4 stars: 1) The cleaners advertise that they open at 8 am on weekday mornings, but more than once, they were at least 10 minutes late. I know that 10 minutes isn't that much time, and I also know that they commute from the East Bay, and traffic is hard to predict. However, I depend on public transportation to get to work, and their ten minutes of tardiness results in my getting to work 30 minutes late. 2) They lost a pair of my pants. They offered to let me choose from among a selection of pants that were unclaimed. Unclaimed means that the items were not picked up for over 30 days or there is no tag attached. I asked the husband if it was possible that they had allowed someone else to take my pants in a similar situation, and he answered in the affirmative. Now, my pants were at the cleaners for just under thirty days, but this includes the 3 week period when the owners were on vacation, and the store was closed. And if an item did not have a tag attached, I would think it more professional to set the item aside for at least 30 days for customers to identify. read more

I signed up for yelp just to try and prevent anyone else from having their clothes ruined here. I just moved to the neighborhood and needed to have some shirts and pants cleaned and pressed desparately. I took about 8 shirts and 5 pairs of pants here and 7 of the shirts came back with at least one destroyed button (if not 3 or 4 buttons) that was chipped, smashed, broken, or something. 2 of the pants had burn stains or something on them. I was pissed to say the least and they did not do anyting to resolve the situation. I wish I would've checked yelp before going here....Please find somewhere else to take your clothes. read more

I am surprised to read all the negative reviews. While their prices may be a little steep, I have found the dry cleaning to be satisfactory. Kelly is an excellent seamstress and has salvaged pieces for me that I had previously been told could not be fixed by other seamstresses. I highly recommend her for any tailoring, etc. read more

I've used this place for 13 years. I haven't found a better place in the neighborhood. It's not perfect. From experience, they do a better job with wash n fold than dry cleaning. I am surprised by how awful and hateful these reviews are. I thought the one that made fun of the owner's Chinese accent was especially depressing. Maybe I'm lucky. They know my name, and my fiance. I've been going there for 10 years. Kelly is a detailed seamstress who will only fix your clothes if it is possible, she won't take a job if you won't end up happy. I hate hearing these other reviews, tell me it's not true! My clothes have always turned out perfectly. Nothing ruined or lost. They even cleaned a 14 x 7 foot rug for 135 bucks! Now that's good. read more

Amazing Cleaners. Amazing? Really? Please be honest with yourself. This was my neighborhood cleaners, but I am never going there again. I went on April 1, 2013 and boy did I think that they were playing an April Fool's joke with me. I had taken my North Face jacket to be dry cleaned, to fix the tear on my jacket, and to replace my zipper. I showed up and I inspected the zipper. Good thing I did! The zipper was not fixed. They said, "You can use a safety pin and put it through the hole so it can act as a zipper." Umm...yeah that's what I told them I had done in the meantime while my zipper was broken. I explained to them that the safety pin only lasts so long before it breaks or pokes me. "I will just take it somewhere else," I said. The guy said my total was $15. I handed my credit card to him and he said the minimum was $20. Really? Your minimum is $20. Stop being so cheap. I did not have cash so I said I would have to come back. Then he said, "Oh no, I mean it is $25. $15 for the dry-cleaning and $10 to show the rip." How awfully convenient right? I had never checked the yelp reviews before going to this place since this place is so close to me. Shame on me. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I am never going back there again. Also, they hours are super inconvenient even despite the fact that they are located 2 blocks away from me. Their hours are M-F 8am-6:30pm and Saturday 9am-6pm. It is so difficult to go during the week because I have to leave for work no later than 8pm and many times much earlier. By the time I get back home they are closed. They should either be open early or closed late or both. If they were open 7am-7pm that would be ideal. The only time I can really take my dry cleaning into this place is on Saturday and I have to wait a whole week to get my items because of their inconvenient hours. read more

this is my neighborhood cleaners, and have always had great service there. i don't really get much drycleaned, so i can't speak to the ironing issue (weird!) but kelly (the alterations goddess) and her husband are always super-friendly. she has hemmed many pairs of pants for my stump legs and remade some skirts and jackets for me. she even got creative on some size-zero pants a friend gave me and was able to let them out with some minor surgery and fabric-grafts. i will miss them when i move to the east bay! read more

Had been going to Amazing Cleaners for a while... Service is inconsistent. Some of my shirts would be wrinkled and I would re-press them myself and finally got tired of it and said something... I was told they would re-press the wrinkled shirts "as a favor for that one time" and that if I wanted "wrinkle free" it would be an additional $3.00 per shirt. That is OUTRAGEOUS. I refuse to pay $8.00 per shirt for dry-cleaning just to get a wrinkle free shirt. ($5.00 per shirt is bad enough - $8.00 is ridiculous) read more

i've been reading yelp reviews for some time now, but this is the first time i've been pissed enough to write my own review. (sorry, yelp.) i soooo want to take my clothes to amazing cleaners #2 because it is soooo convenient, but i just can't do it anymore. when i first moved to hayes valley i gave them my wash and fold, where they promptly shrunk my sweaters and ruined undergarments. when i returned with the offended articles, the wife of the husband/wife team refused to take responsibility for their mistake, and told me i shouldn't have given her those pieces. whaaaa??? so i started doing my own damn laundry, still (foolishly) trusting them with my dry cleaning. i took them a very expensive white dress from anthropologie (what is it with bad luck w/ amazing cleaners and anthropologie clothes?) that had the normal wear grime and a bit of clear wax that i'd mostly removed and they returned it - late (because, ostensibly, they wanted to take another pass at getting the wax out) - and with yellow stains all over it. when i brought it back minutes later, the husband refused to take responsibility for the problem. now, everybody makes mistakes. i'm okay with that, but to adamantly tell me that i'm wrong (but that he'll try to again to get these stains out) just doesn't fly with me. what happened to customer service? AND - he wouldn't refund my money. so i have no dress (and maybe won't ever) and no money. seriously. avoid amazing cleaners #2. read more
