System turn on: Last week of November 2021. After posting my review, Lou reached out to me asking for my concerns. I stopped by their office in Livermore, and had a chat with Lou and Jim for a bit. We spoke about the concerns i had. I was finalizing my contract that week, and Lou offered help to make it up for the bad experience. After knowing what numbers i had from competing offers, he offered to match it. I ended up going with Solaria panels, IQ7A inverters. I had specifically requested for iron ridge racking and railing system. I signed the contract at their office in person a few days later. Kickstarting the process was super simple. Some hiccups during installation: Given my cement tile roof, the installation was a 2 day affair. 1st day: Racking and railing system, wiring basic framework. 2nd Day: Install panels, and activate wiring. During the first day i noticed that quick mount hooks were installed. As i only wanted iron ridge components, i requested them to correct it. After a chat with my project coordinator, they agreed to update them. During one of the calls with install coordinator mentioned me that if they have to update the quick mount hooks to iron ridge, the project will get pushed to January, and i might miss Net metering deadline(My personal opinion: I totally found those scare tactics). I was super bent on getting the components that i was interested in, and they were able to correct the design, and get it approved by the city. The second day installation resumed in little more a week, and finished in a few hours. The city inspection also got done a week later, and in another week the system was turned on aswell. Despite the hiccups in the process, i really do appreciate when owners take personal interest in customer satisfaction, and putting an honest effort to address customer concerns. Not going to take off any stars just because Lou was involved in the process, and he was customer obsessed. read more

I should start by noting that I typically am not motivated to write Yelp reviews, but the truly exemplary customer experience, amazing commitment to quality and satisfaction, and fantastic results my family has received from the remarkable team at Your Energy Solutions (YES) -- in a field where so many other solar contractors seem to fall short -- compels me to write this one. YES is one of the best companies with whom I have ever dealt, and I would urge anyone in the Bay Area considering rooftop solar to work with them! When we decided to install solar, our understanding of the process and products was pretty rudimentary, but we knew we wanted a system designed to offset 100% or more of our home's annual electricity needs and to provide robust battery back-up given the relative frequency of winter storm blackouts and summer PG&E "public safety power shutoffs" in our area. We reached out to several high-name-ID national outfits, but the positive reviews I found for YES led me to contact them as well, and I am SO glad I did. Anyone who has been through a solar install knows how complicated that process is, from system design and selection of equipment to permitting to installation and follow-up. Ours was further complicated by the need for speed, as we were staring down an impending change in rooftop solar reimbursement rates here in CA (from NEM-2 to NEM-3). The big companies we contacted were fluent in talking points to push the purported advantages of the equipment and service they offered, but seemed uniformly uninformed regarding a deeper real-world analysis of some truly key differences (e.g., the relative benefits of micro-inverter systems vs. string, the differences among battery systems re peak and continuous power, flammability, etc.). The sales team at YES, on the other hand, actually understood and could explain these issues, and their expertise was (unlike the other guys') consonant with independent info and research. When we received proposals from various providers, they were all cost-competitive. (Tip: some providers including Tesla will quote too-good-to-be-true numbers, but by the time they tack on undisclosed extras, the pricing per kW ends up about the same.) What differs are the equipment specifics and the level of service. Re equipment, we went with an Enphase micro-inverter system that is unusually "grid-agnostic" -- unlike most other systems, it delivers power to the grid and the batteries, but also directly powers the house in case of blackouts. YES was the only company we consulted to offer that kind of option, and to be able to explain it to us. That clear communication and sincere interest in getting us the best system for our needs carried over into the design team's work and the permitting process. Both of those required constant attention, and multiple steps and adjustments, to get us the optimal system for our needs, all with a ticking clock as the NEM-2 deadline loomed. Between the sales and design teams, we felt like we had the whole company focused on making it all work for us. Once we had our permit, YES scheduled a prompt installation date (June 2023), and the install went without a hitch, and with continued great communication with our sales reps (Mia and Brandon) throughout. As important, when the inevitable post-install glitches cropped up, YES was there in a heartbeat to address them. When our newly installed batteries lost communication with the system, YES was out within a week to fix the problem, and then credited us for the extra PG&E power we used. When rodents got in under the panels, YES was there within days to get them out, replace our "critter-guard", and adjust the panel spacing to keep them out. Two last notes. First, we have a lot of friends with rooftop solar, and they are pretty unanimous in their frustration and fury at their installers and/or equipment. After spending tens of thousands for a state-of-the-art system, it should truly be state-of-the-art, AND it should keep working, AND if it doesn't, someone should be there with a quick remedy. That is the commitment we got and continue to get from YES, and it seems to be a true rarity in this business. Second, the skills, customer care, and spirit of the YES staff are uniformly outstanding. Brandon was more knowledgeable than most other sales reps, not just in the solar industry but in general. Mia shepherded our project with welcome and constant feedback to us through the CAD design process, permitting, and install -- she is a gem, and our good fortune is that she has moved from sales to service so she remains our go-to contact and has been a wonderful solar guide and friend. Our work with Fabian and Franki on the Ops team and our interactions with management have all been gratifying too -- it's so great, and such a relief, to work with folks who put our interests first! I looked and shopped around for a while for solar, and am very happy to have ended up with YES. Quality of materials and interactions were top notch and felt very confident with their process and work. Price was not cheapest of my quotes but well worth it in my opinion for the equipment and service. I worked with Skip for my original call, and once we decided to move forward Fabian was my awesome point of contact and Alejandra the project coordinator. They helped me with a bit of time pressure pre-install and were generally super helpful with questions, redesigns, timeline, etc. On a couple of occasions I had to follow up for updates / status but that is no biggy for me and was just a text away. All in all got a system I'm very pleased with from call to complete install, inspection, interconnection, and generation in ~3 months. read more

First off let me say that I didn't go with Your Energy Solutions so I'm leaving this review about my interactions with them as a potential customer. They were super responsive with their communication and extremely knowledgable about solar. When i posed questions specific to my municipality and about my panel, they brought in their electrician into the conversation to address my concerns and said if we couldn't pass inspection with the initial design, they would keep at it until something worked and if something didn't work and I wanted to give up, they'd refund my $. Paul Taylor was my contact there and he is a solar badass. He knows his craft and is upfront and honest. He'll let you know what works, what doesn't work and what to stay away from. He's not shy about his opinions and I respect him for it. I really wish it worked out with Paul. I really really wanted to work out with Paul. I'm sure if it had worked out with Paul (damn, sounds like i was trying to date Paul) I wouldn't have had as many headaches with the other solar installers since. Its just we couldn't work out a price point that worked in my budget and thats no fault of Paul or me. Company's gotta make a profit to stay in business so I respect that and he respected that i could only afford so much for my project. Even after I turned down his proposal, he followed up with me several times to see how my solar project was progressing. He took the time to answer my questions and when I was about to settle on a different installer, gave him the opportunity to see if he could go down on his quote (I didn't even need him to match!) but he couldn't do it. He then proceeded to bless my other quote and told me I did well. I'm grateful for people like Paul Taylor and what they do and mean to the solar industry, especially since I've had so many negative experiences with other installers. After over a month of research and comparing a total of 6 solar companies, I had decided to go with Your Energy Solutions. Why did I choose Y.E.S.? Well, they are rated 5/5 with BBB, have been in business for 12+ years, have excellent Yelp reviews, most competitive and reasonable pricing equally to my other top choice (Solar Optimum), also offers 25 years warranty, and is headquartered locally here in the Bay Area (Livermore). I prefer to support either small businesses or those locally. So, you may ask why don't I give Y.E.S. 5 stars here on Yelp? Well, the company isn't the problem, it's the handful of mishaps and quite frankly, lack of smooth customer service I had to endure once the contract was signed to final completion approved by the City. Here's a chronological breakdown: 07/08/2021 - Email inquired with Y.E.S. Sales Rep (Paul) if my circuit breaker amps are sufficient to accommodate an AC replacement + an electric vehicle someday, even providing photos of my electric panel and current AC unit. 07/19/2021 - Paul finally got back to me saying, "I think you are good to go without replacement" cc'ing the Operations Manager (Ernest) and the PV & Battery Design Engineer (Ramiro). 07/20/2021 - Ernest & Ramiro both responded "should be good to go" without the need to upgrade the electric panel, thus, I moved forward and signed the contract with Paul. 07/21/2021 - Received an email intro from Celeste, my Project Manager. 08/11/2021 - Solar panels installed with solar monitoring set up. While chatting with the team of installers, I brought up someday buying an EV, which one of the installers said I would need to upgrade my electric panel to accommodate charging an EV. An upgrade average cost is $3K. 08/13/2021 - Follow-up email to Celeste about my inquiring the week before when I can obtain a certificate of the 25 yrs warranty for my record. Also questioned to clarify why the installer said I would need an upgrade on my electric panel for charging an EV when I already had confirmation from Paul, Ernest, and Ramiro that I do NOT need it before signing the contract. Celeste email responded that she is still waiting for the COO to get back about the 25 yrs warranty certificate (not sure why this should take this long). Celeste also responded her engineering team confirmed I would need an upgrade for an EV outlet, which completely CONTRADICTS what was already confirmed by Paul, Ernest, and Ramiro before I signed the contract. This truly pissed me off, so I called Celeste. She promised she will follow up with Paul on my claim of contradiction (which I have the email thread to prove) and to get back to me by end of the day. 08/16/2021 - Email follow-up with Celeste why she didn't get back to me by end of last Friday about Paul as she had PROMISED me. 08/17/2021 - Paul called me when I was just leaving for an appointment. He apologized if there was a miscommunication about the electric panel upgrade because they confirmed no need upgrade for just the AC replacement, not also the EV. I requested Paul to get back to me at a different time because I am driving my little boy to his ortho appointment. 08/23/2021 - Another email follow-up with Celeste when I will get that 25 yrs warranty certificate and how upset I still am about the lack of attention from Paul, when my email to him before signing the contract CLEARLY mentioned about me planning to buy an EV someday. Additionally, Paul didn't reach out to me again since I requested him to call me back at a better date/time. 08/24/2021 - City inspector and Y.E.S. technician got into a dispute outside my house during this permit inspection. I was inside and didn't hear the dispute, but the City inspector left about 5 minutes after arriving and didn't approve the permit due to the need for water bond grounding to the main entrance + lack of wire labeling. The good news this day was that I FINALLY received the 25 yrs warranty doc from Celeste. 08/31/2021 - Scheduled City inspection canceled last minute by Y.E.S. because they mistakenly scheduled another 1st inspection when the issues from the 08/24 inspection dispute are not corrected yet. However, the City inspector still showed up at my house because the morning order went out before Y.E.S. canceled. 09/07/2021 - Final city inspection happened and this time permit was approved, but still NO further response from Paul again. 09/20/2021 - Final solar system interconnected with PG&E grid for NEM. During this entire ordeal with Y.E.S., I found myself constantly having to play the role of follow-up communication because of the lack of from their end as customer service. It really should be the other way because I should be viewed as the valued customer, which I didn't feel like on a few occasions. Time is very valuable to my super busy schedule, but yet I was very accommodating and flexible with Y.E.S. to the handful of hiccups I had to experience. We had our solar rooftop installed in June 2023 and was pretty happy with the process. From the start, we work with Patrick Villano on the proposal and help customized the layout to suit our needs (thanks Patrick for our patience). Once we agreed to go ahead with the project, it get assigned to a project manager, Celeste is our single point of contact. She is very much on top of things and kept us abreast of the progress from the initial phase to the installation phase and inspection which passed with flying colors. But what make company like Your Energy Solutions a gem is their support team. A few months after the installation has completed, we noticed that some of the panels are not working (from the enphase app). I reached out to the support team and immediately get connected to a live person who along with her colleague immediately troubleshooted and identify the issue and sent a technician out to get the problematic panel fixed in a timely matter. We are very impressed with the response time. The last time I need support for my computer, I have to jump through so many hoops, waiting forever just to talk to a human being, so this is a very refreshing experience. Kudos to Mia, Manny and especially the technicians in the Support team. You guys rock! Wanted to get some solar panels and I'm so glad I chose YES. They were fast to do the install, quick to respond to questions or concerns, always respectful, and answered everything I needed to know. Their customer service is also fantastic. We had an issue where our internet went out and I had to reconnect the system and Fabian responded super fast with easy to follow instructions on how to fix it. Then, when something happened and the power to the panels went out, Fabian responded quickly and was able to send out a technician to see what happened. We were on a tight timetable because of roadwork on our street that week, and I was going out of town on the weekend, but Fabian was awesome, again, and the technician, Rogelio, was able to troubleshoot and fix the problem quickly. It's a big yes to YES. It began with a conversation in late September with John Darling, whom I've known and respected for many years. John walked us through the technical and financial information we needed to make the decision to "go solar". He expertly, patiently, and happily answered every question we had and developed a proposal that met our needs perfectly. Fabian became our Project Manager and Serena our Project Coordinator. In a word, they were fantastic to work with. Fabian was "on it" from the very beginning to the completion of the project. Fabian established a great rapport with us, established a project dashboard and timeline, took care of all the necessary permitting processes (including that of our HOA), and kept us informed every step of the way. We have rarely experienced such great customer care from any company. We live in the Sierra Foothills, some distance away from where YES is based. We were anxious to have the installation complete by the end of the year and before an approaching winter storm. YES was able to schedule the install during a very short window between storms and year's end. The install crew, who had to leave very early in the morning, managed to complete a rather complicated job in just one day - expertly and efficiently. We have now enjoyed our solar system for two months and are completely satisfied and happy we made the investment. While the solar rooftop system was good, when one of the monitors went out, It took 3 months for them to come fix it, which meant I lost the credit for height of summer production of power. I also referred a customer to them for $50,000, which got me $275 referral fee (thought it was supposed to be $500 earlier), BUT GETTING that referral fee was a nightmare. First, the woman could not pick up due to phone problems, she calls me back, barely speaks English, not helpful at all, got a supervisor who does speak English, but knows NOTHING, then the website was impossible, sending "verification codes" ALWAYS expired! Quite disappointed with a company that held great promise. On one side, I reached out via Yelp and got a reply within minutes. Then a call was set up with Jill. I got emails every day and every few hours to be ready on Monday at 11.30 am with my phone. Got a message 4 hours before, then 2, then 1.... Then at 11.30 am - silence! 11.35..... silence. I sent an email to Jill and got ..... silence!!! They may be highly rated by people who eventually got someone but for me, they were a no show with not even an acknowledgement or note to say something came up. I was searching for a great solar installer for the past month and YES came cross on top of the list with about 298 5-stars rating on Yelp. I thought it must be a great company to work with and was very happy. But... I called YES the lady answered the phone asked me how many panels I want to install? I said this is the question I need to ask you bc you're the expert in this field. Then she took my PG&E account number, contact info and told me someone from their solar consultants group would call me back the same day. I was waiting for the call. That day passed. No call. Next day passed, 3rd day passed ... and now more than a week passed, still no call. I don't know what the reason they treat me like that. Now I remembered there were a couple of reviews mentioned their slow responses or no response at all when I read the reviews from other people. I didn't pay attention to theses a few negative reviews that time and thought it wouldn't happen to me. I was totally wrong! At lease YES should let me know the reason they don't want my job. got a call from this company of yelp because i need my solar worked on. The CEO in person called and i explained the issue and granted his access to my solar on line. He never called back so i called again and he promised he would call the very next day, NO call so i waited and waited for some kind of response from him, Never got one so i called the main Number and the man told me he was sorry for The CEO not retuning my call. He told me he would have him call me asap. Still no call or text or anything. the man on the phone wanted me to pay up front to have someone come out and look at the problem, I told him i would not pay any money up front when i cant even get the owner to give me a call back, I refused to pay them to have someone come out and get scammed with a no show. I have called the owner's cell phone may times because he told my he would answer up until 10pm. He never did call and the messages i left were never returned, I get that he might be busy but now way to treat someone looking for help because the solar co. i used to install went bankrupt. very, very disapointed in this company so far read more

Updated review After my publication here, we received a call from YES to correct all the problems we have had. It is unknown why there was a miscommunication before. They promptly came to fix our inverters and evaluate our system. Now we have a better plan in place as we have a direct contact in the company for future needs. Y.E.S. installed an additional backup battery (LG 9.5 KWh) on my existing solar system. They were straight forward when estimating the time and cost involved and were easy to work with. I particularly liked the support and updates I got from Fabian and Jessica (Project managers assigned to my project) as the plans were drawn-up and the permits pulled. The installers arrived on time as scheduled. The physical install went quickly and professionally. They had some technical issues with the bring-up after adding the second battery but they worked through them and with the help of some phone support, got the system up and running before they left. After the battery was installed, I got additional help from Franki (Technical support) to configure the battery system and web interface to my requirements. Franki at Your Energy Solutions was incredibly helpful to my husband and I when we were in a bind and needed to have our Tesla solar panels installed last minute before a new roof installation - for reasons not worth mentioning we ended up not needing to move forward with the project but Franki had a team ready to support my project within 48 hours, got on the phone with our roofer to align on the plan and was just ready to execute quickly. He was helpful and supportive which was what we needed after having such a terrible experience with Tesla energy. I was referred to YES (Praveen) via a friend and, I couldn't be more happier with the way the engagement went from start to finish. Praveen knows his stuff when it comes to Solar - he is a pro at figuring out how to size based on usage and factoring in different metering plans available with PG&E. They have a pretty solid approach around only using the best materials but, still offer a pretty competitive price point. I must've spent several hours talking and deliberating different options and, configurations and inverter related topics with Praveen and he was patient and explained everything pretty thoroughly at every interaction. Just got my system installed last month. They did take a few months to get started but that was just due to how busy they were, so no issue there. The sales guy Steve was great to work with. He was not pushy at all. I even asked about some other additions that would have been more money for them, but he explained that for my use case they wouldn't be needed. I was impressed that he didn't just say "yeah let's do it" . The office people were great and answered my questions quickly. The install of the panels took a day with no issues. We had our original solar PV system installed by YES around 7 years ago and we were having some issues with communication between the panels and the Enphase Envoy monitoring system. Basically, the Envoy and the panels were not talking to each other consistently, likely due to electrical interference. The panels were producing power but I couldn't tell exactly how much, which was somewhat annoying. I called YES and discussed the issue with Franki, who told me the solution to the problem would be to install a dedicated outlet for the Envoy on the exterior of the house (I had it plugged into an outlet inside the house, on the wall opposite the main breaker). The dedicated outlet installation alone would have cost hundreds of dollars, just to fix the communication issue. I had been thinking about adding extra panels to the system to increase production capacity, so inquired about the cost of the additional panels plus the dedicated outlet. Franki reviewed the different options for the extra panels and was able to help me make a decision on the most cost-effective option. The bonus to going with the extra panels was that he was able to throw in the dedicated outlet installation without charge. We scheduled an installation date/time within a couple weeks and the crew actually showed up earlier than expected and got to work right away. It only took them a few hours to install the 5 extra panels and a dedicated outlet for the Envoy monitoring unit. Very seamless process and now our system is producing around 30% more energy than prior to the addition. I would recommend this company to anyone considering a solar PV system. read more

YES installed my solar panels quite a few years ago -- no problems. Went back to them for 2 Tesla Powerwall Batteries. A bit more expensive than other vendors but it was worth it, because just a few months after completion I have been notified that my SGIP rebate check is in the mail. Owner Jim was willing to alter the form contract in order to deal with my idiosyncracies. Pamela Montanez took personal responsibility to shepherd my rebate application through the PG&E approval process, which is quite complicated. Project Manager Fabian Garza was exceptionally responsive during the whole process, and Daniel the head electrician provided great explanations and service as well. 5 stars. read more

I was admittedly skeptical at first, especially regarding their confidence that my system would be up and running before year end when other solar companies stated that it would not be possible. I decided to give YES a try with reserved expectations. Despite the unfavorable weather, my system was generating power a week before year end. I was thoroughly impressed. The team at YES handled everything from start to finish. There were times when I thought nothing was happening but behind the scenes they were designing my system, submitting plans to the city and coordinating work schedules.
