I got super charged up about moving to solar before the NEM 3.0 deadline and called Paul last week to get solar panels in. This is after a guy from SunRun had given me a $40,000 quote for buying solar so I was particularly discouraged. Paul was extremely patient and carefully explained everything to me and gave me a quote that was half the SunRun price for equipment that I was able to verify through online reviews was better. He answered my texts and calls late into the night, got me all set up, was super professional and courteous. Unfortunately, we decided ultimately not to transition to solar because we want to sell our house and move to a different area in the next 3 to 4 years, so we would likely not see the ROI. But when we get to a new house, I will definitely be calling Paul again and hopefully the batteries are cheaper by then. read more

I'd love to know how it's possible this company has a strong overall rating. It was the basis for me researching them among a couple others while considering solar for my home. And after hiring them, they were rick solid through the entire quote process. But the moment I signed the contract they went from 5* to crap. Hard to contact. Never a straight answer. Highly unreliable with scheduling and finishing the installation and impossible to reach for help understanding the solar system post installation. And big surprise... the guys assigned to my order are all gone less than a year later. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't hire this outfit even if they offered half price. read more

I received a quote for my warehouse and several rental properties over 3 years ago. The contract was signed shortly after reception of the quote but the project is still not complete as of today, 3/18/2023. They were quick to take my deposit for the project and to sell me on more of their services but the progress of the work has been aggravatingly slow. They always have excuses as to the reason why things are taking so long. The reasons range from being held up with permits to not having the equipment to do the installation. Looking back now, I feel pretty stupid believing most of them as I was lead on for several years. But that's not to say that everyone who works at YES is at fault. In certain times, there are individuals who seem capable of delivering upon their promises. As of now, my warehouse project is still incomplete and I am still waiting for a proper quote for my property. Depending on how these projects conclude, I may change my review but for now, one star it is. read more

As of today, it seems that my system is finally finished with the right equipment and in full working order. This of course took another 2 months from my original review, during 12 of the 15 microinverters had to be replaced thanks to SunPower providing the wrong parts. The fact that the star rating for this review went up though is entirely due to Franki, the YES service manager. It took a couple of times harassing the owner Jim, but I finally got put on Franki's radar, and the difference was night and day. Franki corrected all the things I complained about in my first review. I now received prompt replies to my calls, and even proactive calls within hours of all service visit to tell me how it went and the next steps. And more than that, Franki was honest and open with me, explaining in detail the issues they found and what the realistic path forward was to get it corrected. Franki actually made me feel like YES cared about getting the job done right. Jim, if you're reading this, Franki is the entire reason that my updated review is 3 stars and not 1. Here's the timeline following my original review: Sept 13: Called Celeste, as I'm only seeing net grid usage data still. She points me to Peter in service dept who is working on SunPower monitoring problems. Try getting hold of Peter but no luck. Sept 15-16: Emailed the owner Jim. He responds saying that he'll research with his staff and that he'll get back to me after the weekend. Before I hear back from Jim, I get Peter on the phone Fri PM. I explain the issues, and he calls SunPower and says he'll get back to me early next week. At some point between this call and the next, I start getting total solar generation data but no panel data (which turns out to be very important). Sept 19-21: Fabian contacts me to say he'll follow up with Peter, but still don't get him till Wed. Peter says he will follow up with SunPower. Sept 26-30: I call Peter Mon to discuss the issues again. He is able to turn on panel-level data for me, and discovers that 2 panels aren't reporting at all. I review the data and discover 10 other panels are maxing out at 250W, so now there are 3 issues. I email Peter on Tues and leave voicemails Wed and Thurs. He finally answers on Fri, but we do not have a pleasant conversation. He is dismissive when I ask why I got no response to my emails/voicemails and of my urgency in getting my system working. Oct 5-7: I email Jim again, as he never followed up with me, there are more issues, and Peter is not an improvement. He directs me to Franki. I send follow up email to Franki on Fri, and he calls me to discuss before the end of the day. Great conversation. We discuss his theory that SunPower provided YES the wrong panels, and he schedules visit Mon to confirm. Oct 10: Visit from service staff. Franki follows up that afternoon. Turns out it is not the panels but the SunPower-attached microinverters that were wrong. Tells me he will reach out to SunPower rep and will get back to me quickly. Oct 11-12: Franki emails response from SunPower rep, and then confirms they'll send 12 replacement units. He schedules install for Nov 8. Nov 2: Franki calls to say they hadn't gotten the replacement units yet and tentatively back up install schedule to Nov 18. Nov 8: Franki lets me know they got parts from SunPower, but just the microinverters rather than the entire integrated panel-microinverter unit. Install scheduled for Nov 16. Nov 16-17: New microinverters are installed. Franki calls the next morning to let me know that SunPower had only sent 11 microinverters, so they still needed to get one more, so they were going to pull one from their stock. Also the right person was not available to set up the monitoring. Scheduled visit on Nov 21. Nov 21: Service visit partially successful. Microinverter from stock wouldn't fit with integrated units, but they did get the monitoring back up. Franki called less than an hour after tech left to fill me in. Unclear when a new microinverter from SunPower would arrive, but the panel was operational and generating less than 250W peak now anyway, so we agree it is not horribly urgent. Nov 22-23: Get a voicemail from Franki on Tues that they have the last microinverter (guessing it got misplaced or something). Got another call from a service Tech on Wed that they had time to install it and they are on site 45mins later. Franki calls me to follow up while the techs are on site. I'm told the final microinverter was successfully installed and monitoring for it set up. Plan to confirm with monitoring next week, but pretty optimistic everything is done. I called around for quotes through 3 companys and Jim gave me the best pricing for LG panels. They were very professional and answered all my questions in a timely manner. I was then transferred to Celeste the project manager who also took care of scheduling permits and getting hooked up with pg&e. The installers were awesome and did a great job . My system was installed after about a month after I signed the contract and I now have 21 panels doin about 52 to 58 kw a day. Loved working with this company. I was impressed by their competence, professionalism and courtesy. I heard and learned that there may be unforeseen issues with solar installation projects, many of which are unknown unknowns. Whether it's a new city code or surprises that pop up as a result of living in a charming but old house, there are likely to be issues. Your energy solutions proved to be an amazing partner in terms of problem-solving such issues and doing everything in their power to fix them. I used YES to install solar panels in 2021. While the installation experience had some hiccups, I was overall happy with how things went. Unfortunately, YES did NOT honor its production guaranty after the first 12 months. I have called and emailed them multiple times but without any success in receiving proper compensation despite their acknowledgement that the production guaranty was NOT met. I would recommend against using YES. The main benefit of solar, is the energy production that provides a consumer savings. Their ability to provide that production (and stand behind it) is underwhelming. I plan to elevate with the better biz bureau and potentially pursue a claim in court. ***** As an update, Frankie at YES reached out to me and addressed the production guaranty. Where to start? These people are the most incompetent bunch I've ever dealt with. From their secretaries to their upper management specifically Ernest are awful. We had our roof done to install our new solar so everything would be new. We told them we were getting high end spanish tiles and they needed special brackets. The first time they came they had the wrong brackets and they had to turn around and go get the right ones, they also had the wrong flashing. It gets worse, then we found out through our roofer they still installed the wrong brackets, they came out to fix the issue. They didn't know how to properly take off the second ones so they actually made holes in our new DECKING. One of the guys came to get me so I could look at it since I'm also pretty knowledgeable about construction. I said you need to stop, you need to figure out a way to take it out without damaging my roof. It was supposed to rain 3 days later. He said he would tell the office and they would make it right. No calls or emails. We called them countless times and nothing. We ended having to go on our roof again and patch things up ourselves so our house wouldn't flood. After that many more things went wrong. They ended up giving us money bc of the terrible service and lack of communication. Fast forward a couple of months later when some of my panels weren't producing enough energy 10 to 15% less and they assured me it was shade. There are NO Trees or shade in that area. After insisting something was wrong, they finally connected me to someone who could screen the panels and he in fact said I was right. It took them weeks to fix the problem. First guy came out and didn't have tools, I had to go on the roof with him and let him use my tools. I had to teach them how to walk on my new tiles so they didn't break any more of them. Fast forward to a couple of days ago when my electrician came out to install a new circuit and he noticed my panel where solar was connected was black and the breaker MELTED. He told me my house could have burned down this whole time. I called and got a secretary who said she would escalate the situation. Nothing for 24 hrs, we were so scared we disconnected the solar. Late the next day I spoke with David (a really nice guy who seemed to understand the gravity of the situation) and he called apparently Ernest and the owner. All of a sudden they are blowing up my phone. Next day their top electrician came out and said that possibly my panel was dirty, some spray was on it and that was what could have melted the breaker but either way he admitted they should have cleaned it before making the connection. You always need a clean surface before you connect. I was happy at least he admitted fault and said he would talk to the manager. Btw both my electricians that came out said that's nonsense since the spray was also noticeable on my other breakers and those weren't melted and black and that wouldn't cause the meltdown. Ernest called me back and I showed him pictures and this was when I lost it. He said it's their job to just connect to my panel? I said so even if it's not safe? Didn't you just tell me how you guys have top electricians and engineers and permits etc? He said YES! What? Insane. I wanted a subpanel and he said I would have to pay for it!!! Omg our house could have burned down with my little children due to their incompetence and even after all their workers have told me in different instances how much they have screwed up with different things and also apologized and after all this, you don't want to make it right!??. I'm paying thousands of dollars bc I thought this solar company would know what they are doing. They haven't called me since. And the amount of photos and evidence we have is incredible. Of course, I've been keeping track. That's what I do for work. So at this point if you are a previous customer watch out! If you have solar with them go on your roof, check your solar panels, check your electrical panel. Check everything. If you are thinking of going with them, DON'T. In addition, did my homework with 2 other solar firms with no survey cost. Few Solar installers who are in the market for 10+ years offered sunpower, REC and QCELL. Saw their quote. I have lived in my split-level home for nearly a decade, unable to use my home office during the uncomfortable temperatures of the summer months. Forced to work from home during the pandemic, I decided to research possible solutions to amend my situation. Through my investigation I came across Your Energy Solutions (Y.E.S.). From the first conversation I had with the owner Jim Gitas, I have been so pleased with the high level of customer attention. Due to Covid19 and social distancing measures, via FaceTime, Jim and I were able to diagnose the problem with my stifling, hot attic. On that initial call itself he figured out how many solar powered attic fans we would need to vent out the large mass of hot air in my attic. It took a couple weeks to get the parts but Jim and his team immediately scheduled the installation. On the day of installation, his crew of three arrived early and prepared to tackle the situation. The men were able to install my two solar powered attic fans in no time. The installation and clean-up was meticulously performed. The very same afternoon the solar powered attic fans were installed the difference was astounding. For the first time in several years I was able to comfortably use my top floor home office. I decided to take measurements a few days later to confirm what I was experiencing. Updating my previous review: Literally about half an hour after I posted my review, I got a call from Franki in the service department. And as has been noted in other reviews, Franki is great. After nearly 3 months of delays and excuses, Franki got the permit okayed, the installation completed, and the final inspection done, in about 2 weeks. My system is up and running and all I'm waiting for is the interconnection with PGE, which should happen within a couple of weeks. BUT. It shouldn't take 3 months of screwing around and then a customer's negative review to get this kind of service. If you want to claim 5-star service, you need to have people like Franki at every level that interaction with customers is happening -- managing projects, for example. My project manager seemed to simply report what was happening; I didn't get the impression that she was being proactive, or advocating on my behalf. Would things have gone differently if Franki (and just to emphasize: I can't say enough about Franki) had been in charge from the start? Impossible to know, of course: maybe he just got lucky with the timing and everything was about to happen anyway. But YES needs that level of engagement and attention all the way down the line. read more

I had a wonderful experience right from the time I first approached Praveen, the Sales Person. Praveen is very knowledgeable, technically sound. I had several vendors offering similar equipment. So, it was quite confusing for me to decide on who to go with & what to chose. Praveen's quote was a bit on the higher side, so I was initially hesitant to go with him. But, he was authentic & gave me good inputs to evaluate the various offers in terms of the Solar Panel & inverter manufacturers quality & reliability of the panels & their guarantee performance & after Sales Service. Finally, I was convinced to to go with Praveen, even if it meant paying a bit more!! Moreover, Praveen came through recommendation of my friend, who knows 6 others, who were very happy customers of Your Energy solutions. They took care of every thing very nicely, including seeking approval from our HOA, the roofing contractor to ensure that the warranty on the roof is not voided after the panel installation, installing the posts, getting them insulated by the roofing contractor, installation of the system, all within 10 days from the date of approval by HOA, getting the inspection from the City done in the next 15 days & finally sending application to PG&E to get their approval to power on & use; that took about a month. Praveen has been very prompt in responding to any queries that I had through Whatsapp, even when he was on vacation in India. Great Customer Care indeed! I am really hesitant to write this review. YES was quick in helping us install our new solar panel solution. However, a few weeks after installation, we noticed that some of our panels were performing significantly less than the rest of the system (not a YES issue, per se). We contacted them to point out the discrepancy between the panels of our installation. Fast forward 12 months - we have had multiple YES teams visit our home. They've taken pictures, swapped panel positions, swapped micro-inverse, all in an attempt to get Solaria to issue an RMA. I do not fault YES for having to follow a process. However, they have not been diligent in following-up with status updates. I have to literally email them every week or two just keep the process moving forward, and yet... 12 months and counting we still have underperforming panels installed. I've asked if they could provide us panels (seeing as they know it's a manufacturer issue) to cover us while they work through getting replacement components from the manufacturer... nothing. At this point, I've had reduced system capacity for over a year (so money out of my pocket), of which YES has been aware, and they have barely taken the minimal actions necessary. We were considering a battery installation for our system. It won't be through YES, if this is the level of service we can expect. read more

We needed repairs to our existing solar energy system, but our original installer went out of business a few years ago. It was not easy to find a company willing to work on a system that they did not install themselves, and that was able to make the time to help us out. But Your Energy Solutions (YES) did it for us. Their expert Franki analyzed the situation and knew very quickly what the problem was. They came out within the week to replace our inverter's dead communication system to restore our monitoring capability, and then ordered a couple of parts that were needed on the roof to restore full function. The best solar company in the Bay Area! I researched getting solar panels for our house in Dublin CA for over a year. I met with Solar City, Sungevity (before they went out of business), Sunrun (through Costco), Vivint solar and finally Your Energy Solutions (YES). I was strongly leading towards using one of the National brands companies (Solar City or Sunrun, especially after the incentives Costco offered me), however at the end of the day, it came down to Dan Sisca, Sales Manager at YES, who really impressed me with his in-depth knowledge of his products and he WAS NOT pushy at all. I ended up getting a 4.4k watt system (LG panels) at a very competitive price (same panels sold by Sunrun/Costco). From the moment I signed the contract to the install date, it took about a month and YES kept me informed throughout the entire process. My solar install was in Sept 2017, however this review is about 5 months later. Why? Because I wanted to see the benefits of my solar. My monthly electricity bills are now less than $10 per month (some small costs charged by PG&E). Unrelated to Solar, but recently I had an electrical outlet issue in my house (bad wall outlet). It wasn't solar related, but I called Dan to see if he can point me to the issue. I wasn't expecting it, but he came out and fixed the issue the next day. WOW!!! Jim was upfront about what's possible and what's not and was totally transparent in letting me know that they'd not be complying with industry/city security requirements as they'd have to rent equipment from a third party to install on my 3 storied house. He could've so easily, like many other vendors, rented a boom lift from somewhere to only install solar panels and not offer any post sales service due to a lack of boom lift. He gave tips on purchases and walked through the technicalities patiently despite knowing I won't be of commercial value to him. We got multiple quotes from other solar companies but YES offered one of the best deals for high quality panels. You can go for cheaper panels at a different company but we wanted to get panels with high efficiency over time since it is a long term investment and YES had a great deal going on at the time we signed. We decided to finance and the monthly payments for our solar panels was about the same as our current PGE bill plus we can charge our EV for "free" with the solar panels so we end up probably saving money overall. No brainer to install solar. Our project manager Fabian was amazing. Other solar companies gave us a installation time of 3-4 months after signing the contract but Fabian somehow expedited everything for us and we got our panels up and running within about a month after signing our contract. He was very informative at each step of the process and kept us in the loop at all times. Super fast and responsive to any questions we have. Give this man a raise or some kind of special recognition! He did a great job. read more

I'm a tough customer for this sort of thing. I research the heck out of the technology, I look at all the options, and as someone handy, I consider doing it myself. So, over the last 3 years, I've looked at solar a number of times. Each time, the math did not pan out. I looked at the cost of materials, the estimated labor, and the total cost, and shook my head. Nope. On top of that, the solar companies that came out didn't seem to want my business. They quoted, maybe followed up once, and I never heard from them again. Enter Jim and YES. Jim showed up for an estimate, and I figured it was just another small solar company. Told him briefly what I was looking for, almost dismissively, but to my surprise, Jim listened. He answered my questions, and followed up in email, numerous times. He showed that he was not just a salesguy (he's actually CEO) but knew the tech, upcoming trends and changes, and spent time keeping abreast of things. My installation was on a shake roof, which most companies wouldn't touch, offering either a reroof, or a ground mount installation at a much higher cost. During the design phase, they moved some panels to a different location which I was unsure about, but it was the right call as it made the system more efficient. My YES installation happened on time (before year end as promised), was installed quickly (barely over a day), and the work was done professionally, including cleaning up and painting conduit at no charge. While my system is only a month or so old, I can recommend YES without hesitation. If you're been waiting for a reasonably priced, honest solar company, this is it. read more

I worked with Geno Gitas at YES on my PV/BESS. I am a mechanical engineer and am extremely particular on how anything gets installed at my house, so I had very definite requirements that needed to be followed. Geno made sure my requirements were met in the design of my system and the installers at YES carried through with these requirements on the installation. YES followed through to get approval from the authority having jurisdiction in a very timely manner and they are currently working with PG&E to get my system interconnected under the NEM program, again in a timely manner. I was the representative for a local nonprofit that hired this group to install solar. We were having the roof replaced first, and they started installation on the old part of the roof, so it had to be removed. When finished, they failed to submit paperwork to PGE for the PTO for 5 months. They filled out the paperwork wrong, and had to resubmit it. I have no idea when they resubmitted it, because despite phones calls and emails, it was over a year later before I heard that PGE rejected the application because it wasn't up to code. They upgraded the system to meet code, and finally received PTO over 2 years after the system was installed. Typically took over a month to get a reply to any email I sent. When I phoned the project coordinator was never available, and never seemed to find the time to call me back. I know some of the wait time was just moving things through PGE, but the lack of communication and courtesy was inexcusable. read more

YES completed my solar project yesterday. I replaced an old 12 Kyocera 235 watt/panel PV system with an all new 15 Longi 305/watt panel PV system. Existing wiring from previous system was OK and reutilized. Jim understood my needs from the very beginning we he responded to my Request For Bids. I signed with YES and everyone I worked with from Jim to Franki to Carlos and others were great. There was a glitch (no fault of YES) when the panel supplier did not deliver my hardware in time for the initially scheduled install date. YES rescheduled my install to a date I requested, no problem. The installation was smooth and clean. I definitely recommend YES. read more

Y.E.S is fabulous! I did a lot of research before selecting Y.E.S for my solar install including interviewing 3 different companies and getting personal recommendations on Y.E.S before my final selection. Y.E.S answered all of my questions and replied promptly with the level of information i needed. They are wonderfully helpful and manage the process including city inspections and pge. There were two site visits. First was the installation team (For me it was the green team) and they were great, efficient, and cleaned up everything. The process began with the presales team Praveen with clear explanations of the solar installation process and pricing. Once I signed the contract, it had been handed over to Celeste Rosas and Fabian's team to install solar panels and get an inspection from the city. It was time to do some upgrade/maintenance on our 10 year old Solar Panels. We live north of Sacramento and had no luck finding an authorized contractor anywhere near us. Enphase sent us to Franki and YES. Franki was helpful and busy- but we kept on each other and worked out a plan. His crew was wonderful, they drove 1.5 hours each way, two LONG days in a row to work on retrofitting our solar panel with inverter upgrades.
