It can always be nerve wracking when looking for a new doctor either for yourself or your fur baby. I went to Yelp and came across Your Pet's Wellness and was so pleased to see the fantastic reviews this place received. I took a chance and made an appointment. I swear I felt as if I was making an appointment for my child! The receptionist greeted me with the kindest most reassuring voice. It was as if she was saying "We've been waiting for you!" I was able to get my cat in RIGHT AWAY. I mean I can't even get in to see my doc that quick. Here we went, first thing Saturday morning to a strange, new place. Not so strange when the minute you walk in the door, the staff are simply cooing over your pet! Mind you, they walk over to open the door and welcome you to Your Pet's Wellness! My cat, Chiquita, is an 11 year old Divalicious, snobby cat. She doesn't like anyone except her owners and HATES being out of her comfort zone. You wouldn't know that by watching her with Dr. Miller and Megan. Talk about angels! Our appointment took about 2 hours but not because she had anything seriously wrong with her but because Dr. Miller and Megan took their time to explain, in great detail, every possible scenario, what works and what doesn't work. Talk about patience and attention to detail. If you're looking to take your pet for a check up, to change doctors or curious about Your Pet's Wellness, you need to check them out! Just happened to go here because they were the only place I could find to do annual shots for my dog immediately... I needed to check him into a kennel that day. My dog is a rotty and not the easiest to handle at the vet. The office was clean, and modern. The shots were quick and easy, which hasn't always been the case. They were by far the nicest staff, and most adorable veterinarian I have used!! I actually think the dog and my one year old toddler were sad to leave... Definitely going back;-) read more

I've since switched Tipsy's vet to a cardiologist in Urbana and I still use the same exact pharmacy and again, never have I had an issue with getting his medication. Only with this place, have I ever had a problem with being blamed for not calling ahead in time ( a week?!), or having to then call the vets office myself over 10 times because they seem to ''never get any requests.'' or ''not have any time'' or ''didn't hear from my pharmacy''. My vet before Your Pets Wellness and after never had an issue. My pharmacy is even glad I had switched. This is the last thing you want to deal with in addition to having a sick pet. The receptionists or whomever there that deal with client services need more training. read more

I originally found Your Pets Wellness through yelp when I was looking for a new vet. I had previously taken my pets to another vet but unhappy with the wait times and overall wait and see response any time I brought my dogs in for problems. I highly recommend this practice for the care of your pets. I have 3 adult dogs that receive care from Dr. Miller and she is the best!! Always so kind and professional with a gentle manner that puts me at ease when I am anxious about potential bad news. The entire staff is friendly and courteous on the telephone and in the office. I can get an appointment quickly and all my questions are always answered thoroughly. I can't say enough great things about them! Other reviewers have shared concerns about pricing. I can't say enough good about Your Pets Wellness! Dr. Stricker is the best. Her and her staff are upbeat, friendly and professional and truly do care about your pets. They are higher priced, but you get what you pay for. They won't try to add unnecessary tests or vaccinations to your receipt. They do what's necessary and offer suggestions that you are neither forced to nor compelled to make a decision upon. They do a fabulous job with grooming/shaving and their products are top of the line. My babies are scared to go to the vet, but once they see the veterinarian or the staff, they quickly warm up and try to follow them around the clinic. Lol. They even do house calls in case your pets absolutely hate the car ride to the vet. That service is extra, but worth it if your babies prefer staying home. I hope to stay in the area for as long as possible so I never have to change vets! read more

I have to add another 5-star review. Dr. Miller got our cat in the same day we called, stayed late to run tests, and called the next morning, asking how he was before giving us the lab results. She was calm, gentle, and did a fantastic job of explaining what was going on and what our treatment options were. Great petside manner. Our kitty's going to be OK with some medication. But even if his prognosis was bad or worse, I have full faith that Dr. Miller would handle the situation with kindness and tact, and fully inform us of our options. read more

Normally I don't write reviews, but the customer service at this location is out of this world. And its not just one or two employee's I'm talking about here, I'm talking about literally EVERYONE that works for this vet. I took my cat Charlie after he started having some issues with sneezing(found them on yelp). Dr Miller was able to diagnose the issue, and offer him some medicine to take home that night. She also recommended to me that Charlie to do a blood and urine analysis (he's 8 years old, which I just found out means he is a senior citizen in cat years). It was a small price to pay to know that my cat is healthy, and that his liver is in tip top shape. I treat my cats as my children, and although this service costs a few hundred dollars it could probably save me thousands in problems down the line. Lets face it, cats rarely show when they are in pain, so its good to know someone like Dr Miller is extensive in here treatment, instead of giving Charlie the "one size fits all approach" I received at my previous vet located inside of a big box store. read more

Dr. Veronica is amazing! You can easily see her passion for animals and their health within minutes of meeting her. I live in the area, and brought my newly rescued 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog to YPW for an exam and 2nd round of shots. Her staff explained that it would literally save me money if I went on their monthly wellness plan because I have a new dog requiring some shots every 3 weeks. On my specific plan, I pay a monthly cost thats less than the office visit and covers very general treatment like nail trim, ear cleaning, and *some* shots. They didn't force this plan on me at all, but instead, gave me full piece of mind knowing that I can bring my dog as frequently as I want for an exam (while on the plan), because I am still learning the mannerisms and general behaviors of my pooch (i.e., is he sneezing because he's excited or is something else wrong). Aside from that, the staff is very persistent with scheduling, they don't sugar coat anything, and always offer tons of suggestions from food to behavior modification. If you want a vet who is responsive to you and proactive about your pet's care I would not chose Your Pet's Wellness. While the staff is friendly and the care is fine (not extraordinary by any stretch) the right hand never knows what the left hand is doing. No one will ever call you back if you leave a message. I brought my cat Evie to Your Pet's Wellness for the first time on Tuesday and I could not have been happier with my experience! Both Dr. Veronica and the tech Elli went above and beyond to make both me and Evie feel comfortable and safe in their hands. Evie had been peeing on my roommate's bed and I brought her in to determine if it was something health related or if it was behavioral. Dr. Veronica answered all of the questions that I had and discussed with me ways to address the problem from both a health and a behavioral standpoint. I got a call the very next day from Dr. Veronica to tell me what the result was on the urine sample they took. The problem turned out not to be health related, but she did notice a few concerning things in the urine sample and shared those concerns with me so they could be addressed immediately and I could save myself a future vet visit! The visit was reasonably priced and a passion for animals and their wellbeing resonated from each employee! They take excellent care of your pets and keep you in the know to help you be the best pet parents you can be. I'd recommend YPW to my friends, and I recommend them to you! read more

My cat Molly became sick with what what looked like a blockage in the digestive system I was looking for a new veterinarian since the last place just felt like it was more important to see how much money they could take from me without the focus on my cat. I cannot say enough about Your Pets Wellness on Damen. They came highly recommended and I can see why. When I arrived I was greeted and the person already knew my cats name (I made an appointment earlier) Elli was the vet tech and started checking in Molly right away, Dr Gaspar and Dr Chiu greeted me and started examining her with care. The knowledge of these 2 doctors is immense as they methodically went through all of the scenarios of what the issue could be and . Elli and Liz took care of Molly when taking her through x-ray and blood tests. The doctors showing care while going through the ultrasound test and the results of the blood and x-ray. It was determined that Molly did not have any blockage but the digestive system that became unbalanced and needed to be corrected. The treatment was easy and Molly is now back to normal. The passion, love and care that everyone has at Your Pets Wellness is evident. I now have a new veterinarian and wellness center for all my cats and I encourage anyone to visit them for their pets care. read more

My dog seems very comfortable here and I really appreciate the service. Yes, it is a little bit more pricey than some places - but, I would rather know that my dog is getting excellent care. Didn't work out for us sorry. This is based on a 2013 experience. We rushed our cat to them after he had clearly had a stroke, and the staff and doctor were super over the top nice, which is great. But he wasn't really given effective care. They took him out wrapped in a blanket (even his head) after I told them he hates to be covered up unlike most cats. I heard him SCREAMING in the back like he was being murdered :( I realize a cat in his condition is not going to be feeling good but that is not what I want to hear, and I expect to be told/asked especially on a first visit. When we got home, we noticed that under his fur was a massive bruise over a tenth of his body area near his heart/under his arm. We went back the next day and expressed dismay they hadn't caught that or seen it. She apologized and sent us to a neurologist. To recap, super nice people, great intentions, clean facility, but our old boy needed FAST efficient care in those critical hours after his stroke and I don't believe he received it, sorry. read more

I was looking for a new vet and was referred to Your Pet's Wellness. This was great referral because not only is it 5 minutes from my house, but my pup gets to eat peanut butter while they do their exam! When you walk in it looks like a puppy pediatrician office. I'm pretty sure my pup thought we were just going on a fun adventure for the day and not to the doctor. The entire staff was so friendly and informative. Dr. Miller is great. She really knows her stuff and is good with the animals as well. When we first came to her, we told her about our senior cat's arthritis. He had stopped eating his prescription food, and was having a lot of bad attacks. She gave us a six month supply of glucosamine that only required weekly injections. That same cat has recently been diagnosed with liver cancer. He can't have surgery due to his heart condition, so she's come up with a number of options for treating it. She's extremely knowledgable about treatment methods, more so than any other vet we've used in Chicago. She's also really good with our cats. We recently brought in our Bengal kitten for her one year appointment. As is typical of Bengal kittens, she's fairly hyperactive. As a result, she generally doesn't like being held. (She'll let me hold her for short amounts of time, although she usually doesn't let my husband hold her.) She's also rather shy around strangers. We were both surprised and impressed when Dr. Miller picked her up and remarked, "Oh, she really likes being held." All of the vet techs so far have been really nice and helpful as well. They always make sure to get you in and out of there as quickly as possible to reduce our cats' anxiety. They give them little treats, too. read more

I think I'm echoing what most people have already said about this wonderful place but I couldn't resist. My wife and I did some research and wanted to get a great vet for the newest member of our family, Gracie. After seeing the amazing reviews here on Yelp we decided to book our initial appointment, one of many of course with the new pup. I absolutely love the attention they give to details and how everyone in the office is super friendly and always willing to help. The follow up after appointments is also very helpful and extremely quick. I've been in there twice, with three more appointments booked in the next few months. I couldn't imagine getting this lucky with a vet. The added bonus here is that it is extremely reasonable, almost too good to be true really. We see Dr. Stricker each time and she is really good at what she does. You can tell she loves her job and is always willing to go above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable. Dr.Miller is an AMAZING vet. I don't think I can ever find anyone who has such a genuine passion and love for animals as she does. My kitten, Chili, has been going to see Dr.Miller for all of her shots and vaccines since since she was 7 wks old. I am a proud "mom," but Dr.Miller scoops Chili up every time she sees her and gives her kisses almost the entire time we are there. I feel like she loves and cares about Chili just as much as I do........and Chili just eats up all of this attention, of course. :) More importantly, I've never seen an animal so comfortable that they don't even notice they're getting a shot...or sometimes 2 shots! But, Dr.Miller has such a great, natural way about her exams and knows exactly how to make your pet feel completely at ease. I truly cannot remember a time when Chili actually realized she was getting a shot......mind you, Dr.Miller administered all 6 of her shots and vaccines. :) Dr.Miller educated us about the good and the bad of cat foods and taught me a few things about what NOT to feed your cat. Her staff is equally as friendly and loving to your pets and it's a cute, clean, and fun office. VERY grateful to have found her....and so is Chili :). read more

I can't express how happy I am to find this place. Everyone who works there goes above and beyond. I feel like they truly care about my pets wellness (hence the name!) and how I feel too. they have wellness plans that are SO helpful to work with your finances. you don't have to compromise caring for your pet or waiting to do so. very helpful and worth it. my pup June just had her dental surgery cleaning and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. the doc called as soon as she was out. also just called today to check in (day after) - they are always more than patient will having to answer all my questions no matter what they might be. so thankful for you all. and if you have a dog then you can always tell how they feel when they go to vets, groomers... and here she is happy when we get there and when i pick her up. not sure she ever wants to leave. shows how much she trusts them and so do I! thanks for all you guys do! read more

One word can summarized Dr. Jessica Miller and her team...AMAZING!!! My husband and I recently got an Irish Water Spaniel (IWS) puppy and originally we wanted to use a vet that had experience with the breed. But after speaking to vets who did have experience we felt uneasy and decided to expand our vet search and I am sure glad that we did. She took the time to learn about the breed before we were even patients of hers and she knew more than the vets that had IWS patients in the past. She took time out of her busy schedule to call us and she must have spent over half an hour with us talking about her philosophy and answering a huge list of questions that we had. After that call we knew that she was the one and once we got our little puppy we called the office immediately to make our first appointment for her. Our puppy absolutely LOVES going to the vet's office and is enamored with all of the staff. They are so good at keeping her distracted and happy that she does not even notice when she is getting shots, getting her nails clipped or her ears cleaned. Our puppy recently got sick with a stomach bug and everyone at the office has been so willing to listen to our concerns, help calm us down and offer treatment strategies. I also appreciate the doctor's minimalist approach to vaccinations and that she takes the time to educate us at each exam. You never feel rushed while you are there or when you call and they are always willing to help out with advice if you run into any issues with your animal. I do not think you can put a price on your animal's well-being and I think their pricing is in line with the top notch service they provide. If you have an animal that you love I would totally recommend Your Pet's Wellness as one of the city's top notch facilities. read more

Overall, this is a great vet and I highly recommend them. Every person I have encountered on their staff is friendly, helpful, kind, and an animal lover. My cats get their regular checkups here and I feel like they have a great handle on their health, and are watching out for problematic symptoms as they age so I can treat them quickly and conservatively. I took my cat here for an emergency appointment when his anal glands were infected (super fun, I know) and he had them drained in the office. My cat was scared and in pain, but the vet and the vet tech were gentle in holding him through the procedure and they resolved the issue quickly. BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE VET TECHS HERE; you guys are all awesome and compassionate and are a real asset to the firm. I also particularly recommend Dr. Dory from their vet staff; I always enjoy seeing her. I did take a star off because I've been getting dental quotes for my cats to have cleanings and extractions, and the quote from YPW was much MUCH higher than other reputable vets in the area. It would be easier to consolidate their care into one practice, but I will need to get their dental work done elsewhere due to the high anticipated costs (the low end of their estimate was the top of the high end for quotes from other practices). read more

This place is great! The entire team is kind, loving to pets and very attentive to the dog parents. A friend recommended Your Pet's Wellness while I care for my parents dog for the next few months. Having a dog in an apartment is difficult and this place was incredibly accommodating with scheduling time to bring my dog in; not to mention that I got a call back after my e-mail inquiry within a day. Definitely not my experience as I was looking at other places. Everyone here was great and you can tell how much they love animals. The visit was impressive, everyone already knew who we were when we walked in the door, offered treats only after asking my permission and they even have refreshments for the human patrons. We were brought in quickly and both the doctor and assistant took the time to ask me all kinds of questions about Heidi's transition to Chicago. In order to compete some of the tests, they even followed Heidi around with a ladle to collect a urine sample. Talk about going above and beyond!! I scheduled Heidi's dental cleaning. I got a detailed look at what the cost might be and a range depending on what other steps the doctors may need to take if oral surgery is necessary. It's refreshing to see what the high end could be. It's good to know what the worst case is since some procedures can be pricey. I'll update after I the dental cleaning again... but so far looks like we found our vet!! read more

Your Pet's Wellness has been my cats' vet for years. One cat has had to have a couple procedures in that time and she was very well taken care of. Staff is very friendly and compassionate about my pets' well-being. My one cat is so terrified at the vet and they're very sweet to her, making things go as quickly as possible. My other cat is a lunatic and all claws at the vet, and they're very patient with her too. They're also easy to get in contact with via email, which I really appreciate! read more

My experience with this establishment could not even get past an initial phone screening. Initially I wrote in through their website to 'request an appointment' for my cat I had suspected had a UTI. After filling out all of my information and explaining the reason for my visit in detail, I received a call. Since I missed the call I got a message and number to call back. When I called back the receptionist put me on hold, which was perfectly fine considering they must have been busy. The call however began to ring and then sent me to a voicemail I'm not even sure was for the vet. At no time did the receptionist call me back. Then I called in the day after and explained what had happened the previous day and that I was returning the call again. The receptionist asked for all of my information I had already provided and then proceeded to tell me I needed an initial visit before the issue I was writing in about could be addressed. I said 'okay' gave all of my information again and she mentioned only then that they did not take new patient initial visits on Saturdays. All of this could have been avoided if they had read my initial email with all of the information already provided. All in all a really poor disorganized experience that really showed they don't care to take on new clientele or do what is necessary to help those trying to seek care. read more

We recently moved from a very well known vet to Your Pets Wellness. We had our initial consult, shots and tests; all checked out great. Then last week over the weekend we went camping and our little pooch wasn't acting right since. We got concerned after seeing our dog do something strange. In our panic we drive right to the vet, without calling. They saw our concern on our face and squeezed us. Not only squeezed us in, but took a ton of time with us, until the concern on our ace was gone. I will never go anywhere else after this experience. Not only did Your Pets Wellness take care of our dog, but took care of us. That is something you just can't buy. Use this clinic. They are great people and want nothing but wellness for the whole family. And...our dog has never been calmer during an examination, as she was here. read more

Kind, compassionate, patient service when it was time for my beloved kitty to be euthanized. We had only been to the office once, where she was diagnosed with kidney disease and the visit was smooth, helpful. But I am so impressed with how they handled end of life. Our cat has experienced a series of digestive problems over the years culminating with a successful surgery last week. It's a scary and stressful situation to be in, but everyone at YPW has been exceptionally encouraging and warm, and I really felt that they were as elated as us to see the little dude back to his feet. We have been going to Your Pet's Wellness for our cocker spaniel since we moved to the area. She has been there for check ups, shots, and lastly for eye surgery. We always found them a little pricey, but they seemed to do a good job and were always so nice to our dog when we came in. However, we did not like how we would ask to get a quote for the services when we would make an appointment and it would never fail that we would walk out paying much more. Seems like they pull the old bait and switch often. A few months ago, our dog had her eye surgery performed by Dr Miller who made it sound like a routine procedure, but two weeks later her eye went back to its original state. Dr Miller was surprised but performed the surgery again. Two weeks after the second surgery, her eye went back to its original state again. At this point Dr Miller suggested we go to a specialist and admitted that she had not done this procedure very often which she never stated previously. At this point we were already out 4 figures in costs for the surgery and our trust and faith in Dr Millers practice have been tarnished so we will no longer be using their services. We had tried to communicate our concerns with Dr Miller for a month after the last surgery, but it was very hard to actually get into contact with Dr Miller. When we did finally get into contact with her, it seemed like she was more concerned with the money she made off the surgery than the care of our dog. read more

Sadly, ten days ago we had to make the painful decision to have our 20-year old cat euthanized. It was evening, and we also didn't want to traumatize Licorice by putting her in the car and driving her to the vet. So I looked for a veterinarian who made house calls. My first call was to Dr. David Gonsky. He heard the distress in my voice and though he couldn't come that evening, he gave me the name of Dr. Jessica Miller at Your Pet's Wellness. Words can't express how fortunate we feel that she was the one to help our beloved Licorice go to her rest in peace. Dr. Miller came immediately, though she had to come from Roscoe Village all the way to the South Loop. She was so concerned, kind and gentle, with Licorice and with my husband and me. Jessica examined Licorice, did a couple of simple tests, told us she was gravely ill, but patiently explained the alternatives and the potential outcomes. She gave us lots of time and information to help us come to our decision. Once that was made, she made Licorice comfortable before doing the things she had to do to help Licorice go to sleep. She gave us time before and after to say our goodbyes. Afterwards she hugged us and made sure that we were OK before she left. She also handled everything associated with taking care of Licorice's remains. The next day, she made a donation in Licorice's name at a center that provides grief counseling to pet parents. I can't tell you how much the way she touched and took care of Licorice meant to us. I feel as though we cannot say "thank you" too many times. As I understand it, Dr. Miller's practice (Your Pet's Wellness) is exclusively house calls. No putting the cat through the horrible experience of being taken in a box in the car to a strange place. I am the owner of Dynamic Dogs Training facility in Chicago, and I have 4 dogs of my own, plus 2 rescue foster dogs from Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue and 1 from ABMC Belgian Malinois Rescue... that is 7, needless to say, I need a lot of veterinary care! I have used many veterinary clinics over the years. Dr. Miller of Your Pet's Wellness is great for my own dogs, and one I feel good about my clients using. She explains everything thoroughly, knowledgeable and up-to-date on current treatments and standards (which is important in a vet), and she is kind to the patient. I have found Dr. Miller to be the most knowledgeable vet I've seen in regards to medicine, treatments, and overall health. I initially thought a vet coming in for a housecall could not do much, since they don't have a whole hospital, but I was wrong! It's really convenient to have a vet come to your house. She brings with all necessary supplies, and you'd be surprised how much she can do from your home! She can do all vaccines like rabies and routine puppy vaccinations, heartworm testing, blood testing (GI panel, CBC blood tests, fecal tests) she sends to a lab, medications, and more. My senior dog had a lump, and she was able to take cells out of it and I quickly got back a lab report explaining exactly what it was. She also has a laser at the clinic, which is a newer treatment for arthritis and wound healing in dogs. I would recommend to anyone, especially if your pet has some anxiety with the vet, because the staff has a great demeanor with animals and treats them kindly to make it a positive experience instead of a traumatic one. My friend had a new puppy that was tested and had giardia (a common parasite), and not only did Dr. Miller bring the medication, she brought print-out info on it so the owner would know what it is, I have not seen another vet do that. I have also not had a vet email me the lab results, that was very convenient. That is the "educating the owner" part. Dr. Miller can also provide nutritional advice. I was happy to find a vet who actually knows about nutrition and does not recommend Science Diet for all the dogs. A lot of vets don't know much about nutrition or seem to ignore nutrition, but Dr. Miller can tell you about the good premium brands that don't have fillers and by-products, or get you a prescription pet food if it's needed. From what I've seen, they also do very well with cat specialties. She works hard to go out of her way for clients and their pets, she could have called it VIP vet, because every client is treated so well. Add me to the list of very satisfied customers of Dr. Jessica Miller. A friend of mine RAVED and RAVED about her, so my expectations were quite high. She exceeded my expectations on every level. She and her staff are knowledgeable, compassionate, and affordable for the service that they provide. She and her tech, Ashley, came to my house to examine my 2 cats, and then to my (very) elderly neighbor's house to examine her cat, which will be mine upon her owner's demise. She spent so much time on my first cat (Bijou) that I was certain she had forgotten that there were 2 more to go. Every exam was conducted with the cat's comfort in mind, and very thorough. Issues were explained, questions answered, and subsequent info emailed. I will go so far as to say that Dr. Miller has mended my faith in her profession. I lost a cat (Squeak) in December, following a horrific experience at AETC (Yelp, Animal Emergency Treatment Center to see my post). Sadly, I wasn't aware of the comprehensive service that she provides, even on home visits. I still remember the hopeless feeling of caring (by myself) for a cat too damaged from a procedure at AETC to travel. The outcome may have been the same (he had bone cancer) but his suffering could have been minimized or ended had a professional come to my house to help me make that decision. Dr Miller is young, energetic, passionate about her profession and, hopefully, in Chicago for the long haul. She offers healing beyond pills and procedures, a special ingredient called caring which she dispenses generously to her patients and their humans alike. read more

It's worth posting another note that we love love love this place. Our dogs typically see Dr. Dory for their annual appointments and whenever they have an upset stomach or other immediate need. On a past semi-emergency visit (turned out to be a bee sting), there was a miscommunication among a few parties (myself included) that resulted in some frustration on my part. It happens. When I called to vent, the staff very kindly took my information, and Dr. Jessica called me back personally the next day to make sure that everything was okay, which, of course, now it is. :) read more
