Yours Truly Tiki Speakeasy, located in the AC Marriott in downtown, was a fun experience! Be sure to book a reservation in advance. When you arrive, they'll give you a key to your assigned post office box. Once you insert the key, lean against the wall of P.O. Boxes, and it opens up into a tropical speakeasy bar. You order your drinks by writing on a postcard and placing it back into your box, and voilà! Your drinks are delivered straight to your box. Drinks were nice, but they need to reconfigure their booking system to make clear when you're reserving a speakeasy table and when you're not. Got a reservation under the impression I'd booked a speakeasy table, only to be told I hadn't. Yours Truly is NOT a safe or comfortable place for a cocktail. This review is a warning, friends. Upon arrival, we were met with rudeness from the initial bartender, who scowled the whole time and refused to let me cash out my tab before going back to the speakeasy. His unpleasant demeanor made us feel unwelcome. His bitterness was unwarranted and palpable to the point I felt uncomfortable. When we tried to access the Christmas speakeasy, we encountered more issues. The bartender was unhelpful, repeatedly telling us to "follow the security camera" as if that meant anything. I assure you it does not and it was weird and uncomfortable that he kept saying that instead of assisting us. He also refused to split our tab, despite assuring us it could be done. After I questioned why the whole charge went on my friend's card, a second bartender was alarmingly rude and unapologetic as he tried to gaslight me. He wasn't there, how can he tell me what was said? It felt like it was oddly personal but we never met either of them before which leads me to believe they have issues and are potentially discriminatory. When dropping fifty bucks on 2 drinks, I have no interest in being inconvenienced with extra steps like Venmo. That is a reasonable expectation, wouldn't you agree? To be fair, I skipped the tip so I saved ten bucks. Never have I ever done that before, but the service was borderline traumatizing and negative behavior has negative consequences. It felt like they were deliberately making our experience negative. Many reviewers share similar experiences, indicating a concerning pattern of poor service and aggression from the bartenders. The owners need to address this issue seriously. A simple apology for the mix-up could have changed our experience, but instead, we left feeling disturbed and disrespected. Please consider avoiding this place until changes are made. Friends, this is a rare negative review on Google* because I value small businesses and the success of downtown's revival is important to me. Friends recommended this one to me so I made a reservation for the Tiki Bar. There are two bars here, the front bar and the speakeasy. The tiki bar is the speakeasy. It's a fun experience accessing the tiki bar. There's a wall of mailboxes that front a hidden door. Once inside you fill out a postcard with your drink order and "mail" it to the bartender. After a few minutes he "mails" back your drinks. It's a unique concept. The drinks were average. Not bad but also not stellar. As a cocktail enthusiast I've had better. We ordered a Navy Grog, Saturn and Zombie. All were served in the correct glassware. The Saturn and Navy Grog weren't spectacular but they were fine. The Zombie was straight up something else. It did not taste like a Zombie! Overall, the experience is fun. The room is small so your conversations won't get much privacy but it's still a cool room to sit in. I'd definitely go back if friends who haven't been before want to go but if not for that it's a one and done experience for me, especially considering the drinks are average for what they cost. read more

Despite my better judgement I got convinced to go back to Yours Truly and I was prepared for the worst. To my surprise I found out that the bartender with dreads that made my experience so terrible last time no longer works there and the bartender named Olivia was a wonderful host. Despite it being a busy night she still managed to engage with my whole group, recommend drinks, and even made a custom cocktail for one of my very picky friends who loved it. She was very knowledgeable about the entire selection and taught my entire group about the history of some of the whiskeys they serve. I'm still hesitant to make this one of my regular spots until I see how consistent it is, but the customer service has improved dramatically. First off, made a reservation for 4, when when got there we waited 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. When someone finally did they put us in a corner near the door and said it was temporary. Then waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The drinks were super cute, but most were greater then $20. Finally got into the speak easy which was really quite and intimate. Ordered 1 more round of drinks. The 2 rounds of drinks for 4 people greater then $150. Okay I understand that, what I didn't understand was why I was charged 2x. A few days later I contacted the restaurant, it's a Marriot property, so I figure it would be corrected. I talked to the food and beverage manager personally, he said he would correct the error. He never did, I've called many times I can never get him back on the phone. They gave me an email which didn't work. Shame on you Mr. Rosales! Don't go, parking sucks, service not great, bartender was only +, and clearly management doesn't care. I hope this place closes down. read more

Truly a magical and tropical experience! It doesn't get any better than this! We heard about this speakeasy and wanted to try it out...the suspense begins as the bartender smiles when you ask how to find your way into it....I won't divulge what happens but you receive a key for a mailbox...interesting? It's only the beginning...we felt like we entered a portal to the past Hawaiian tropical hideout...you'll see when you get there...Caitlin the bartender was so friendly and knowledgeable and full of smiles and information...we ordered two tropical drinks with rum...be careful, they pour with a heavy hand and you will be smiling permanently after your first sip...delicious! Great music...we hated to leave but we will be back again and bringing lots of friends!!! Valet parking just $15 for 8 hours of parking..yes, you heard me right...in downtown Honolulu too! Nice cozy bar. The food and drinks were great, our bartender was amazing. At first we were seated at a small awkward table, but were eventually moved to the bar when space opened up. We easily stayed for hours having a great time. The temperature, noise level, and overall atmosphere was very pleasing. It was a little pricey, but within the normal range of these types of bars. Would definitely go to again. The bartender that we had (I wish I remembered her name), was the best bartender I have ever encountered. read more

I found this place all over IG so of course I wanted to try it. I went onto their website and made reservations in the speakeasy which was booked out month in a half. The restaurant/bar is downstairs of the AC hotel. Walk down the stairs. Ahead of time I looked at the food menu and of course is was tapa style. As we checked in we were given the "secret code". You head to the bar and tell the bartender the code. You need to provide them with a credit card and bartender hands you a key for your drinks. We enter this cute little room. Ambiance is of course nice. It's so small. Seats only 16 people and it was really quiet, so if you want to party have a good time, this is not the place to be. Service sucked. Minimal interaction with staff and it seamed there was no wait help in the speakeasy. THEY DO NOT SERVE FOOD INSIDE THE SPEAKEASY! I really hoped they listed that on the menu. We just had 1 drink, which was OVER PRICED and we left to eat elsewhere. Sad to say but I wouldn't come back. read more

This speakeasy just recently opened at the end of February. They're open at 5pm on Wednesday through Sunday. It's located on the ground floor of the new AC hotel in downtown. When you hit the bottom of the stairs make a right and enter the bar. The speakeasy is actually hidden behind the mailboxes. The host will tell you to lean on no. 219, which opens the door to the speakeasy. The interior is Hawaiian-themed and intimate with about ten tables. There's ordering instructions on the table. Orders are placed via postcard in a mailbox, and a green light signals when to pick up your drinks. They had two choices of mocktails and I ended up getting both. My husband ordered a Mai Tai, and he enjoyed every sip. No food is offered but the bar upstairs has food. You can make reservations via Open Table. They have a Photo Booth next to the door. It's free and the photos are sent to your phone. Note: the photos are saved on a gallery that anyone with the link can view so no inappropriate photos. This place is a unique find for those after an exclusive drink experience. Can't wait for another visit to try more of their creative concoctions. read more

Super fun experience! I guess I'd say that we mostly came for the experience of everything rather than for the drinks themselves. It was really fun going into the speakeasy area and using their postcard system to order our drinks and everything. The drinks that we chose had nicely decorated cups so that was really awesome as well. Such a well thought out layout of everything. Arrived 10 minutes early seated at the bar asked about the Christmas experience that I booked staff unreceptive. After an hour figured out they sat us in the wrong area. Never allowed us entry to the Christmas area.Very disappointed waited 4 weeks for a reservation never got the experience of the Christmas bar. Will never return to this venue. Immediately walking in the ambiance is amazing and luxurious. The staff was impeccable they even made me a birthday shot when they found out it was my birthday. There was a waitlist for the speakeasy part but they got us in. I won't give away too many details but there's a Photo Booth we had a lot of fun in as well as the way you ordered your drink! Wow, this place was a s#it show! The GM (I forgot her name) clearly did not have the ability to run this bar. Or any bar for that matter. Everyone was so confused as to what was happening. The staff was terrible about explaining how things worked. I made a reservation for a few friends to start the evening early to check out the speakeasy. It was my birthday, so I just told everyone I was going to be at AC Marriott and to meet after 9:00. to give us a little time before heading to the main bar to meet with the whole group. I had been there before and it was pretty dead in the main hotel bar, so I thought I would give them some love and help get them some business. I DID NOT tell anyone who was not on my original reservation for the speakeasy that I was in there. The staff kept directing people to go to the back there. NOT MY FAULT! The incompetent bar manager stormed in the back and had the audacity to blame me for having too many people in the speakeasy. Hey, I fulfilled my reservation head count. The staff was the one directing people to go back. It is not my responsibility to manage customer traffic. I don't work there!! The clueless bar manager proceeded to continuously scold me and tell me that it was a fire hazard to have that many people back there and I need to get everyone out. As if it was MY job to regulate occupancy in their establishment. Really??? She kept asserting that I need to get everyone out of the speakeasy because it's a violation. lol. Why is that my problem? She was so condescending, and kept explaining how speakeasy's work, as if I don't know what a speakeasy was. We cleared everyone out of the speakeasy to find more of my friends in the main bar. I brought about 30+ people to patronize this place that is usually dead. Then the manager proceed to retaliate and try to put everyone's drinks on my husband's tab. Again, I'm sorry you don't know how to manage how you charge people at a bar. Maybe try another career! Needless to say I took all of those people out of there and they lost thousands of dollars easily! All because the Bar Manager did not have tact, and ability to manage the situation. #marriott should really check up on this lady! It's downstairs of the AC hotel. They should put a sign at the top of the stairs that says "yours truly" The process to get into the speakeasy was awkward. The hostess asked if I had the password and nobody sent me anything. But she told us to go the bar and tell the bartender the password. We tell the first bartender and then he tells us to go to the end of the bar. It's SO awkward bc people are sitting at this bar and you have to speak to the bartenders between these seats. They should keep the counter at the end of the bar open so people can walk up to it. We stood awkwardly at the bar for a couple of minutes then we got instructions to go in, and u can sit anywhere u want. U have to go up to ur mailbox and place ur postcard. Then stand back up and grab ur drink in the mailbox. Then to close ur tab u go back out to the bar and stand there awkwardly until the bartender can help you. What bothered me was the hostess asked us to move to another table bc a party of 4 was coming in. This party of 4 could have sat at the two, two person tables that were RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. and there was another 4 person table that was free, it just needed to be cleaned. The speakeasy requires a reservation so if u know you're having a part of 4 then reserve that table. We moved to the 2 person table and a couple was seated right next to us. Decided to go to their speakeasy Christmas bar experience and I should have known just from the first interaction of making a reservation it was gonna be bad. We made a reservation for 8pm but they said they double booked. Derek the person in charge didn't even ask the entire time we were there if we wanted to order food even though he sat someone right next to us and came back to them after and asked them if they wanted to order food. Very terrible customer service. Other than the negatives the place was really festive and I loved that you could take digital photos when you walked in. But wouldn't recommend this place because there are tons of Christmas bars in town and this one is at the bottom of my list. Gets even better after we left to get our tab the bartender was very rude. I asked "Do you guys have a bathroom?" He responded with "we certainly do." Then he proceeded to keep working. My friends and family were extremely excited to visit this speakeasy, but upon arriving, we were sat immediately in the regular bar area, despite making a reservation for the speakeasy. Once we made that known to our server, she said she would try to get us into the speakeasy, but the male with the dreadlocks told us "he's all booked up for the night sis", and told us that we made our reservation on the website incorrectly. The only reason that we came was for the speakeasy, and to tell us that that we made the reservations incorrectly seems a little off, but things happen. It was the way that this particular individual spoke to and treated myself and my family. We felt as though our money was no good there, for whatever reason that have been, but we didn't feel welcome from the moment we walked in. I get that places are busy and places are short staffed, but to charge $20 for for drinks that were not worth that amount in size or taste was another thing we thought was off. This same male made us feel rushed to get the bill, as well as when we asked to pay for our own drinks, which I don't think is unheard of, he increased his attitude and tossed my sister the receipt for her to divide it up herself. When our original female waitress came by to check on us, we let her know the situation, and she was very sweet, and did everything she could to make it a little bit better, but we felt the damage was pretty much already done despite her being such a great waitress. When she went back to take care of our bill, we heard the same male tell her that he was ready to check us out, which was another thing that really threw my family off. We understand that you don't necessarily need our money, but this was a visit from our mom, and she was really looking forward to this and we just were thrown off. The female waitress went and got the manager, I'm sure to check on us. This woman was very sweet and talked us through everything. And also to persuade us to visit again on a later night. My sister had already made a reservation for the 17th of this month, but we ultimately decided not to go. The actual speakeasy, we did not get to see.
