This place was so much fun!! We were looking for a dress for the sweethearts dance for my daughter. It was so easy to find a dress. They made my daughter feel like a princess and she had a blast trying dresses on. They ask you a price range and then they only bring dresses out in that range. My range was up to $200 and they brought 19 different dresses for her to try on. I love having a dress specialist. We had Brooklyn and she was amazing! She was so good to my daughter. This is not your casual dress shopping experience- which can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. They definitely have great dresses and are perfect for those proms and pageants. My issue was with the staff. My guy friend and I visited this shop before they were an appointment-only establishment. When we did the walk in I kind-of wandered off on my own to browse and my guy friend and his teenage daughter went looking for a pageant dress. My guy friend was completely ignored by the staff while I was continually pestered by the staff; remember, I was not the one doing the shopping/purchasing but I think the staff automatically assumed that a father would never shop for a dress with his daughter- that was disappointing. Once we made it clear that I was not going to buy anything and that my guy friend was, the staff shifted their attention; however, when we said we were on a budget they again lost interest. So, left to our own devices we wandered to the sale rack. We found a very nice dress but it had tears that needed to be repaired (which is why it was marked down). The teenage daughter really liked it and my guy friend said he could easily repair the dress (yes, he sews- much to the shock of the staff). The staff was just really put off by a male in their shop: he was ignored and eyes were rolled quite often when he spoke. I'm glad they found a dress that worked but the shopping experience was not pleasant. read more

I bought a pair of what I call "Cinderella Shoes" at Ypsilon about five years back. Now, having recently returned to the Salt Lake Valley, I needed a great dress for a friend's graduation party. Mind you, I hadn't seen most of the invitees in about five years. I needed to knock them dead. I loved my "Cinderella Shoes" so much I decided to try Ypsilon again. I was happy to find the store open, bright and extremely well organized. I didn't have to dig through racks of dresses to find something. All the girls running the shop were fantastic and went out of their way to help me. It's hard for me to find a dress. I like to stand out, but still look classy. I'm also on the small side, so finding a dress that doesn't drown me is difficult. I was a little worried I might not find what I wanted. But, I told them exactly what I was looking for and they DELIVERED. My Faviana dress fit me perfectly and I'm pretty sure I made everyone jealous. read more

Their dress selections are all top notch and you're bound to find an elegant dress that will make you look beautiful. Their dresses are all color-coordinated or organized by designers. I came to this store looking for an evening gown for my upcoming pageant and I'm not going to lie, I knew ahead of time that Ypsilon was a more pricey store...which scared me a little bit. However, I found the dress of my DREAMS and I loved it so much that price was no longer a factor. The awesome thing is Ypsilon will give you a 10% discount if you are purchasing a dress for a pageant. They also have a guarantee, meaning that they document your dress so that no one else in your pageant can buy the same dress in the same color as yours. Talk about feeling secure about your evening gown, right? The associate that helped me was Paige and she was patient throughout my entire dress-selection process. The first time I came in, she was getting ready to close the store, but she was willing to stay after a little longer so that I could try on dresses. She helped me pick a couple choices based on my description of what I wanted. However, the dress that I wanted did not come in my size so the only thing we were able to do was order it in 2 larger sizes and have me bring it to a tailor to have it adjusted. This is the reason why Ypsilon did not get 5 stars. I feel that it's a little unreasonable for me to have to go out of my way and pay an additional price to get a dress tailored, simply because a retailer did not have my size. I feel like I should've gotten an additional discount because I spent over $400+ just to purchase the dress. But other than that hiccup, I am completely satisfied with my dress and feel absolutely beautiful when I wear it. I definitely recommend Ypsilon if you're serious about buying a dress for an important occasion. read more

I love Ypsilon! My three daughters have bought several formal dresses here the last few years. The dresses are beautiful and every experience I have had with staff has been excellent. They are always so helpful and seem genuinely interested in helping us find just the right thing. I also love that they always show us things within our budget unless we ask to see something more expensive. When we first started shopping at the Trolley Square location you could just walk-in so I was initially a little put off about it now being appointment only. But it has been an even better experience! They are willing to spend as much time as we need and I love having someone dedicated to helping my daughter with zipping, buttoning, hanging things up etc, while I get to just relax on the sofa and see the dresses on. After having a miserable time prom shopping in Phoenix (where we recently moved), we had the chance to visit the new store in Murray over springbreak. I was very surprised that they had so many short dresses to choose from considering its the time of year most girls are looking for long dresses. I love this place! I had such a great experience. I kind of just walked in and they were super friendly and took me in last minute which was super great because I'm not from around here and didn't have time to come back. I love that it was by appointment because you got so much more individual attention and your not competing with anyone. I came here to get a dress for my 21st birthday and was so impressed. The store is so clean and organized, it made it so easy for me to find exactly what I was looking for. I have a difficult body to fit into dresses so I wasn't looking forward to shopping because it is so difficult but honestly they made it so easy. So many options (even for me). The sales girls are very cute and so knowledgeable about the dresses. A lot of dresses come in other colors and if they don't have your size, they order it in. They even have an ipad that they use to pull up images. Amanda was helping me out and she is to die for. So cute. She was very honest about what she thought looked best on me and once I told her the style I was going for she pulled dresses that she thought I might like. I ultimately found 2 that I loved (one sherri hill and one maggie sotterro) and I bought the silver maggie she suggested! SIlver sequined.. which was perfect for a 21st. They have the best selection for sure. ANY girl can find a style she likes because every type of dress is well represented. Do not get a dress from here! horrible experience, the lady was rude and commented on how i looked in a negative way. We payed over $500 for a dress and there are no returns, when we got home the dress's beading was coming off everywhere and the stitching was coming off all over the place.
