Shortly after my treatment with Amanda at Yu Spa, I had a fell from 3 feet up in the air. It is a miracle that I wasn't more badly hurt, according to the chiropractor. This place had an offer on Group On for a Couples Massage for Two for $87. Instead of buying the offer, bcuz these places love to play tourist trap game, oh we don't have availability, I. Called the place directly. They said come over don't buy the group on offer just pay directly here! When we got there, it's an older run down shopping center from like 40 yrs ago, the lady starts to scam us. Now remember the $87 dollar special no longer exists, it now $110. Reason is we have more staff now ( WTF ) ? So not only they just ran a shady scam on Group On, a multi billion dollar world wide company, now they're scamming us into paying substantially more amount than the offer. Well we paid it anyway since we were there. And the massage was mediocre at best, nothing relaxing nor any special attention or talent, just generic tenderizing techniques, not well trained or educated to give a real massage. I have been working in Indio, CA for 6 months, trying different spas to find the quality massage I need for an aging body at the best price. This does not include Resort Spas. I have been muscular my hole life from working and now that aging is here, I must address flabby muscles and limiting motion range. Out of the dozens of spas in the Cochella Valley that I haven tried and each one several vists, Yu Spa in one of a few that has delivered. I like the Thia massage for the pressure on my bones, muscles, ligaments and joints. The pressure works all these important areas for me. Masseuse's come in different weights so I pick ones that work best for my different body areas. Exp. My muscular quads 120 - 140 works well. For back, arms and calfs 110 - 120, and anyone lighter I go for the traditional hand massage for full body. NOW YOUR OWN BODY TOLLORENCES AND STRENGTH. FYI yoga is another art that I have utilize for tone, flexibility, strength, and general conditioning and highly recommend. (CYSW) read more

I just visited Yu Spa in Palm Desert for the first time. I am an out of town visitor staying in a timeshare for the week. I had the 110 minute scrub and massage. The treatments are both done in the same room, for the first part you are on a plastic covered table while a warm oil scrub is rubbed into your muscles from head to toe. Then you are taken to a shower to with body wash to clean off. When you return to your room the bed has been recovered into your massage bed. I had Lynn and she was absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed the scrub, the the massage was hard and deep and felt amazing! There was not a single area that was missed, and I loved the hot stones and cranial massage that was added in. I feel like I received longer than the 110 minutes my service was allotted. This isn't a fancy place, there are no steam rooms or whirlpools and such, but if you are looking for a great treatment at a great price then plan a visit with Lynn! read more

I've been here a few times. Each time, I've gotten a very different experience. I only chose this location because they advertised that they had male massage therapists. Like many places, you have to call ahead, so they can ask the male therapist to come in. I don't mind that, but availability isn't always easy. I've gotten the same guy, each time, in 3 different rooms. The first time, I was in a room where they were doing some remodeling in the room next to it. So, I was greeted by a lot of sawing, hammering, and drilling. I don't mind the noise, really. However, most people would have complained about the noise. The second time, I was in a normal room. Third time, I was massaged in a room with 2 beds, for couples. It was so tight, I felt bad for the guy. If there were actually 2 massage therapists in there, they'd have to coordinate because they would bump into each other otherwise. The masseur is very good. He is thorough and stops to ask how you're doing. He's quiet, which many people prefer. I got a stamp card on my last visit. Why fewer stars? I have to call ahead and most days they are not able to secure a male. read more

Caution. Total bait and switch. They have $39.00 "deal" literally plastered all over the store so I asked for that. And, when it came time to pay they told me it was going to be $55.00 (+ $2.00 Credit Card fee) because they used oil (which I never even requested). The store owner knew exactly what she was doing. After we discussed it, the owner stuck with the $55.00 ask. So I paid it (and included no tip). Shady business practice. I don't recommend this place. As for the massage, I'd give it a 1/5. I don't believe their therapists are certified...or maybe she was just having an off day. Haphazard/random technique, not consistent. And draping technique was unprofessional. Therapist touched my gentiles on several occasion. She had done that many times before, you could just tell. IMO, they would definitely offer "more" if that's what you were after. read more
