An hour later, after Dr. Rana Skaff had pronounced "root canal, retreatment" of my bottom R rear molar, I was headed to Dr. Jack Yu and his team of pros at Grandview Endodontics. Everyone that I interacted with, from Office Manager DARLENE to dental nurses JUDY and UELSY to the (very) good doctor himself were consummate pros. They nimbly squeezed me in for a 1:30pm appt despite never hearing of me til 10:30am. They took their diagnostic X-Rays with gentle yet efficient care, treating the swollen, painful tooth; the pain so gnarly it was radiating to my jaw bone and pulsing in perfect synchronized time w/ my heartbeat. Dental Nurse Judy and Dr. Yu work beautifully together! Watching them -eyeballs close yet strangely detached due to multiple rounds of local anesthesia administered- is like watching an orchestra. Each person anticipating the other's need then flashing forward to meet it. I was in the chair, from diagnostic X-Rays to finance/insurance docs to actual treatment, from 1:45pm til 3:35pm. Time immeasurably well spent considering the world of misery I was in for the preceding 48hrs 'til I could get treatment. Pro Q- Is it meeeh or do most infections requiring root canal start on the weekend, when the vast majority of dentists/endodontists are unavailable?! Pro Tip- Dr. Yu is a major proponent of utilizing Gentle Wave / Clean Flow technology as an accompaniment to his root canals. Let him!!! Worth the peace of mind and reduction in post-canal complications. I'll recap this review by paraphrasing the Dos Equis Cerveza guy. You know, the wizened Hemingway doppelganger who dispenses critical axioms under the veil of his being -why, of course!- "The Most Interesting Man in the World!" "I may not always choose to squander the day strapped to an endodontist's chair getting a root canal .... but when I do, it'll be with Dr. Yu!"

My father has a complex medical history and difficulty tolerating long procedures. Dr. Chen was extremely patient and professional. The root canal was done on a tooth under an existing bridge, which required great skill, and the procedure went smoothly with minimal discomfort. My mother also had a root canal on a wisdom tooth on one side. Dr. Chen handled it with great care, and her recovery was smooth. Thank you as well to Dr. Leong for the additional care and support, and special thanks to the front desk ladies for being so kind and helpful with appointments and paperwork. We have been coming here for years, and there has not been anything but great service and care. The facility feels like a spa. The team is always friendly and customer service oriented. The ambiance is filled with positivity from the team there. It makes me uncomfortable when I have to get dental and medical work done amongst a team that speaks badly of eachother. You don't get that here. They always work with you to see if insurance will cover as much as you need. They don't try to upsell you. They sincerely call to check on you. If there is an emergency or urgency, they work really hard to get you in. Even on their day off! Example, my temp crown broke this morning. They squeezed me in. I was blessed that Ashley assisted me. I was asked multiple times throughout my visit if there was anything they could do to make my dental visit comfortable and if I had any concerns. Referred by my regular dentist, I went today to RC Endodontics for that most dreaded procedure, a…read moreroot canal. In the past I've had root canals done by two different doctors. The first one was a horrible experience. It took three visits, and all were excruciating. The next two root canals were much better, but that dentist has retired. So as I entered the RC Endodontics office, I was pretty scared. I cannot fully express how wonderful everyone was there. Evelyn, at the front desk, welcomed me and went over the paperwork including the charges. She was friendly, honest, and did not rush. It gave me an immediate feeling of confidence that this was going to be as painless a process as it could be under the circumstances. The wait was not long. Dr. Parmar and her assistant Lexi ushered me into the room where the procedure was to take place. They both were incredibly kind and did everything in their power to make me comfortable before even beginning their work. Dr. Parma explained everything to me, using the giant TV in the room to display my X-rays. No shots are fun, but the novocaine injections were not horrible, and they were the last pain I felt. Lexi held my hand. Dr. Parmar kept checking to see if I was OK, and even made me laugh. They both gave me sips of fruit juice. From start to finish took about two hours. Eight hours later, I am still in no pain. I have never had a medical experience in which I felt so nurtured and cared for. Dr. Parmar, Lexi, Evelyn and another receptionist whose name I didn't get are absolutely wonderful. I can't praise them highly enough. Oh, and did I mention that the rooms have giant TVs?

Alright, before you read this let me say I totally understand and agree that you normally would not…read moreassociate a dental procedure to a pleasant experience but hear me out on this. I had been having a tooth ache for months and my regular dentist (who is fantastic- Dr. Robin Su) told me that I more than likely needed a root canal as my tooth had been cracked and it was not going to improve. Without boring you with the details, Dr. Robin referred me to Upland Endodontix. So throughout my life, all I've heard was that root canals are terrible and literally everyone had nothing but negative things to say about them. I mean people have even said "I'd rather have my appendix removed before having a root canal". Well, needless to say I was not overly excited about this and even contemplated just living with the pain. Well, fast forward. I walk into the office and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff. Ashley and Alexis handled all the paperwork and were very friendly and professional. After only a few moments, I was brought back where I met Al, who took care of me the entire time. He was very helpful and explained everything in detail. Dr. Vu was also very professional and completed the process in about 30 minutes. Seriously, a root canal in 30 minutes. Now let me tell you I hate needles. I mean Ive had several big surgeries and before this, I would have put this right up at the top- total sissy. But as for the process, I could not have been more wrong. When I say this entire process was nothing worse than having a normal cavity filling, that's how I would describe it. Sure it's more in depth but the way they handled was very straight forward- you get a few shots, they cover your face, and do some drilling and filling. Anyways, this review is already too long but I had such a positive experience I felt compelled to pass along. The entire staff was top notch and if I could give them 10 Stars I would. My wife developed sudden, severe tooth pain that quickly turned into intense headaches affecting…read morethe entire side of her face. What started on a Saturday night became an hour-by-hour struggle. We first saw a dentist on Monday, where they diagnosed an infection, prescribed amoxicillin and 800 mg ibuprofen, and recommended extracting the tooth. Unfortunately, the medication provided very little relief, and the pain continued. We sought a second opinion on Wednesday. That office recommended a root canal but didn't have an endodontist available and couldn't see her until the following week. With my wife still in significant pain, I spent most of the night and early am searching specifically for an endodontist who could see her as soon as possible. We came across Upland Endodontix. We had actually been considering another office, but after reading reviews, I didn't feel as confident. The professionalism and consistency of the reviews here gave us a much better feeling, so we reached out. They contacted us first thing Thursday morning and scheduled her for a 2:00 p.m. appointment that same day. From the moment we arrived, everyone was professional, kind, communicative, and genuinely caring. The doctor explained everything clearly, treated her very gently, and was able to save the tooth with a root canal. The difference afterward was incredible. Before treatment, even with antibiotics and prescription-strength ibuprofen, the pain never really went away--it was only slightly dulled. After the procedure, the same medications actually eliminated her remaining discomfort, allowing her to finally begin recovering. She was in and out in about 45-50 minutes, and the experience couldn't have gone better. We're incredibly grateful to the entire team for fitting her in so quickly and providing such excellent care. If I ever need an endodontist myself, this is exactly where I'll go. I highly recommend Upland Endodontix.

I was referred by my dentist to see Dr. Jack Yu for a retreatment of a previous root canal. I told…read morehim I had anxiety and I was nervous about the procedure. He did not acknowledge this or give any advice on how to cope during the procedure. He was not gentle when numbing me with the novocaine needles. Other dentist I've had use a different technique to ease the needle in. He was rough when putting on my dental shield and jaw block. During the procedure, he used a tool that produced a burning smoke. This was going into my nostrils and caused me to gag. I motioned if he could raise my chair up slightly. He said, "No, your throat is numb. That's why you think you are choking." The overall procedure was significantly different from my first root canal. He was rough with his tools and was not concerned about my well being. I was in tears when it ended. The assistant asked quietly if I'd like a tissue when it was over. That was the only act of care I received that day. I would not recommend this office if you are sensitive to pain, require a gentle hand, expect positive bedside manner, or have any nervousness about dental work in any way.

My prior dentist stopped taking my insurance and referred me to an out of network endodontist for eval on a teeth that he thought needed a root canal. I had to find an in network dentist to finally get a referral to an endodontist who took my insurance. He didn't think I needed a root canal so I can't comment on how that would have been but I would not hesitate to return to him for it should I need it. He was quick to diagnose but he was thorough with explaining. I felt invited to tell him my pain history and he listened. I felt comfortable asking him questions and got answers that I was comfortable with. He was very confident in a good way. I didn't leave the office wondering if I need a second opinion. My teeth has been causing me so much distress this year and I was super worried about another root canal or having to have this tooth removed if I didnt get the root canal done stat, since my original dentist really scared me.
