We found this place on Yelp after the original place we wanted to go to was full and we didn't have reservations. I'm so glad we found it! You have to scan a QR code for the menu, so we did. The menu wasn't as easy to navigate, but luckily our waitress was very helpful and we decided to order two different broths, two different types of meat, noodles and some vegetables. We had tried a hotpot restaurant in our recent trip to Japan and we loved it so much we were excited to try this place. The napkins are in a little drawer in front of your seating area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is really awesome. I loved the decor and the fact that we were the only non Asian people there made it feel like where in a different country![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all had a complimentary matcha ice cream! That was delicious! Very fun experience!

Beef rolls

Very authentic hotpot place like in China and fresh food items. Service is quite good and efficient.

We got all you can eat and everything was quite fresh and yummy. A lot of good variety of choices, especially for AYCE! My only complaint is that the ventilation was really poor and the overhead hood didn't do anything. As a result, I had spicy, oily steam blowing straight into my face for the entire duration of the 2.5 hour meal.

Wanted to try a new hot pot place in this cold, rainy weather and stumbled across Xiao Long Kan! The decoration in and out resembled Northern China and deserves recognition!! I love how unique it is here because we don't find many restaurants with similar decor here. Service was decent. They weren't particularly attentive, but they did refill our pots a few time and was helpful when we asked. Food wise-- on the pricier side. However, most of the seafood was fresh and the meat melted in your mouth. We over ordered and the total-- after the bar price, tax and tips-- came to $207 for two people. We got a half and half broth for $22 (mushroom and pork bone as we both don't eat spicy). We got the deluxe boat that came with 4 different types of meat. The diced beef however.. super chewy and I wasn't a fan. The veggie mix was $22 and a me with a good variety. The noodles were great as always. I found the scallops to be less fresh than I expected. My favourite were the shrimp sashimi. It was super fresh.. but on the smaller side for $20. But it was probably my favourite dish that night :) The watermelon juice was $13 for the pitcher. Not bad for two people to share as each individual cup was already close to $5. Overall, I would definitely come back.. but actually think about what's worth/not worth to order.

This is my first time being here. Both my husband & I loved the decor and setting. Reminded us of Asia. All menu or digital, so make sure you've got a phone. We've ordered 2 types of beef, bamboo shoot, potato noodle as we are quite conservative. To sample more stuff, we ordered the new combo which was very well presented in a tray with 9 squares. It very cute with colourful bowls. The butter soup base, I've only asked for 2 chilli level but it was still spicy but manageable. The tomato soup base was excellent, the pork one is a bit lack of flavour. Food wise it's ok. The server was very helpful. They offered us an apron after seeing us struggling. However when we ask for a knife to cut some thick chunky beef apart, they weren't able to do so but at the end offered us a pair of scissors. Maybe I was with my husband (Caucasian), the server didn't really interact much with us. But they were nice enough to fill up the soup and turn the eat off when we were almost done.

Pretty solid hot pot place. The menu is really huge, tons of selection, you're bound to find things you'll like. They even have skewers and other cooked items as well. DIY sauce bar is always a hit for me. Overall we got a ton of things, and I really enjoyed everything. We got 3 broths, house, pork bone, and tom yum. The tom yum was definitely my favorite! They have a various private rooms of different sizes to host your gatherings. Overall I enjoyed this place and I would come here again!

My friends and I were craving hot pot, so when this place popped up we decided to try it out. We were seated immediately on a Friday afternoon, and we noticed instantly how beautiful the interior decor was. Ordering was simple, the menu pops up when you scan the QR code at the table, and once you submit your order through your phone, it arrives to your table within minutes. The portions were pretty decent, as my friends and I were all pretty satisfied at the end. One thing that I didn't really enjoy was how the spicy broth turned my teeth orange afterward lol.

After being here and knowing how old this building is.... Holy heck cow, this hot pot place is AMAZING~!! The whole building was renovated from an old Korean Restaurant, and before that was a sushi resturant and EVEN BEFORE THAT was an old chinese restaurant.... This place kept the whole exterior, but the inside IT IS FULLY CHANGED!! I loved how it felt like I travelled back in time to the Ming Dynasty and be eating with my friends in a modern time. I really love this a lot. The other thing I have to talk about is the service of this place. It is so out of the ordinary too. They give the full experience the first step into the door. I could not believe how they treat their customers, it felt like I was an emperor of China. On top of that, while you wait there will be entertainment for the customers. It is just a HOOT! Then when you are seated, you go to a private room with you and your friends. The tables are LARGE mahjong tables with a huge hole in the middle for your hot pot. On top of that, there was a lot of space for you and your friends, and the seats are the true Chinese wooden chairs, hard and stable. So.. usually when you think of GREAT SERVICE, the food is just going to be subpar right? WELL NOT THIS PLACE!!! The food here is just extravagant. They offer tons of various types of soup bases too, and tons of various dishes! Maybe it was the baijou that is speaking to me that night, but the food is just EMMACULATE! They offer all types of meats, cuts and on top of that all the various types of food you can get!! Because it is a hot pot place, the sauce bar is filled with all types of sides and sauces that you can get everywhere. On top of that, there are unlimited amounts of fruits that you can get too, all cut and sliced for easy eating. At the end of the night, and your dining experience, you can ask for an ice cream. And from what I hear, they change every other month, and the one I got on this visit was Matcha. It was extremely dark flavoured of green tea and the creaminess really cuts through too. I have to come back here again!!

First time here, I have heard a lot things about this place, mostly about how expensive it is, which is also why I have not visited this place till now. My friend called ahead and reserved for a table of two. Once I arrived, I got seated quickly after they scanned my temperature; I visited this place before the mask mandate was dropped by the province. Good thing that I went with a Chinese speaking friend cause their menu is all in Chinese. Friend suggested a combo for two, and translated the whole menu to me, including the type of broth we could get. We got the half-half pot, and got one non-spicy broth that is made of mostly mushroom, and the mild spicy one. The wagyu arrived first, so we tried in both the broth. The meat literally melt in my mouth. Meat and veggies were fresh, but nothing special. The non-spicy broth was really bland, but the spicy one was good. With the set, we also got plum juice and jelly like dessert, which I do not know what but it was good. We ended up paying about $70 per person. I do not think it's worth it, but it's an experience for sure. Wish they have better non-spicy broth selection.

This was our first time eating here and the experience was very pleasant. Our waitress was very helpful and walked us through how to order and notated the popular items she would recommend. We ended up choosing the trio broth flavors along with Napa cabbage, quail eggs, pork belly, fish roe bags, bean curd, emoji mushroom, fish filet and the premium beef. The quality of the food was excellent as pictured below. We were checked in on a few times and our broth was topped off whenever it got too low. Our waitress recommended the yogurt which I thought was odd, BUT IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!! This yogurt was light and had a subtle sweet flavor- it was perfect for having after eating such a spicy broth. Thank you so much for recommending. I wish I could buy a pack and stock my fridge up with it! The last thing I wanted to mention too, as we were waiting for our check, I looked around the restaurant and saw another customer at the sauce bar who was trying to carry 3 plates of sauce/snacks/fruit? But was struggling to carry all 3 and I watched another waiter walk straight over and took 1/3 bowls and helped him carry it to the table. It was such a strong act of kindness that I was very impressed with the customer service provided at this restaurant and will definitely be coming back.

Pork, mushrooms & vegetarian spicy pepper broths

Food selection was good, price is fair. Service was very good, [[HIGHLIGHT]]for a Wednesday night it was full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Give it a try when you're hungry.

We had the best and "randomest" late night dinner at this restaurant. It was super authentic, with crazy ingredients like pig's tongue and duck liver and many different options of seafood and meats. Truly an experience, not just a meal. They bring you these huge wok-like pots that have a separation for 2 different kinds of soup and then they ask you what kind of broths you would like as well as the meats and other ingredients. We got the pork broth and the mushrooms broth with 2 different kinds of meat strips and handmade noodles. They also have a vegetable and sauce bar that you can use and we got green onions, peanut sauce, garlics, edamame and salt. It was outstanding!! Also their service was amazing, they were fast and efficient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decoration was great, it felt like we were somewhere in China and not in Canada.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was an outstanding experience that I recommend to anyone visiting Vancouver. Go enjoy the soup and the experience, you won't regret it!

The Meat Carnival deal allows you to choose from five unlimited meat options: two kinds of beef, chicken, fish, and lamb. I skipped the chicken on the first round since I don't usually like it in hot pot. Personally, the lamb was just "meh," so I ended up ordering a lot of the beef instead. Pro-tip from our server: They suggested ordering the 1/4 soup pots (four grids) to save money. I got the tomato broth and my friend got the pork broth. In my opinion, HDL still has the best tomato broth in the game! Just a heads-up that veggies and noodles are extra. In the end, we spent about $60 per person after eating seven orders of meat in total. It's definitely worth it if you can eat a ton of protein; otherwise, you're better off coming during regular hours, as you won't save much if you aren't a big eater. The service was great! Super attentive and friendly throughout the night. 5 stars for the staff!

We've discovered an authentic Chengdu-style hot pot where everything is on skewers -- meat,…read moreveggies, you name it! It was our first time trying Chengdu hotpot 成都火鍋( (aka Sichuan hotpot 四川火鍋), and we did some homework beforehand. Chengdu hotpot stands out for its aromatic, complex flavours and less oily broth than the Chongqing style. Yuan's Hot Pot 袁记串串香 nailed it! We ordered COMBO A ($83.99), meant for two, but honestly, it feels like a feast for three. What's in COMBO A? ~ 50+ skewers packed with meat and veggies ~ Dual broth: House Special Spicy ~ Soup Base & Pork Bone Soup Base ~ Sweet potato vermicelli ~ 2x House Special Dipping Sauces The spicy broth was bold and flavorful without being overwhelming, and the variety of skewers kept things exciting. We went with 1/2 soup base and 1/2 extra spicy. And the extra spicy is definitely spicy...no need to add any dipping sauces with that base. Ordered a variety of proteins and vegetables. I liked that most of the items were on skewers which made getting it out of the base much easier. I did find the beef overly salted. And I really enjoyed the corn on the cob. Service was great and definitely needed a shower and a change of clothes after dinner. They were having a buy one get one free anniversary promotion.
