I really wish I could give this place a better rating, especially now, given the hardships most restaurants are facing. I was so excited to try their carne asada burrito after reading all the rave reviews, but after the first bite, my mouth went numb with how salty it was. :( Sodium preferences aside, I didn't really find it mind-blowing or better than any other burrito I've had. Food is trash. Got the carne asada burrito which was filled with 70% beans and 30% Asada. I'm from San Diego and have eaten hundreds of Carne Asada burritos and this was by far the worst Asada burrito I've had in my life. Burrito is also very small for a $13.70 burrito I would compare it to half the size of a chipotle burrito. The burrito was soft and flimsy and it didn't have the solid form that a good carne asada burrito should have as soon as I felt it I knew it was gonna be disappointed. It's unfortunate too because I saw this place has good reviews but I'm assuming these reviews are coming from uncultured folks that haven't had solid or even decent Mexican food. read more

This is the original location and the one I grew up going to. On the way home from school my sister would call in an order and Dora and Mama knew us by name and greeted us with a smile each and every time we came by. They still know our family because we love this place so much. The entire menu is amazing. My favorites are their steak sandwich, bean and cheese burrito, chili cheeseburger and the Machaca burrito. When I was pregnant I was super sick but could always eat a bean and cheese burrito and my husband would have them stocked in our fridge. The atmosphere of this tiny little place was definitely street cool. There were a few tables you could grab to eat there but it is definitely more of s take out cash kind of a lace. The tacos were great and so was the burrito. I had a walk to get home do I grabbed one of their hot dogs to tide me over. I was skeptical about eating a dawg from a taco stand. I once ate here almost 5 years ago. Recently my coworker suggested going there for lunch, and now I remember why I had never gone back. The portions are small, so it is expensive for the amount you get. My carne asada burrito was more than $5, and I seriously could have eaten two. It was short, flat and full of beans. The meat was ok but nothing special. For the drink sizes, they have small and large. I got a small lemonade for $1.75. They should call the sizes mini and small. My small lemonade was shorter than my coworker's can of coke. The "large" was about the size of a can of coke. You might as well go to the liquor store a few feet away. Well at least there is a parking lot. Cash only, outdoor seating only, and not many tables. read more

Excellent cochinita pibil taco. The meat is fantastic and super flavorful. My carnitas burrito was fine but I know myself and I should stick to tacos, beans on the side. Tacos are a bit more pricey than a truck and some other stands but it's good quality. read more

I've been going to this place for over 20 years. It's a short walk to a busy Hillhurst Street. Great tacos...try the Carne Asada tacos and burritos or the Cochinita Pibil tacos too. The portions are a bit small though..so order more. Yucca's is an LA Los Feliz classic. Their portions are smaller than the average burger joint but I feel like everything else is normal sized if not bigger. They literally work in a shoebox and the quality of the food has stayed the same over the course of 5 years that I've been going. Can't go wrong with Yucca's. read more

Absolutely delicious! We had been eyeing this place for a while, but finally went by when they were open. There was a LINE (like 10 people in front of me)! I was so shocked to see this little stand had so much demand - and when I got to the front I saw their James Beard Award, and knew it was going to blow my mind. The wait was very short, like 10 minutes, and they somehow managed to get 4 employees into their stand, cranking out delicious burritos, tortas, tacos, etc. Kudos to them, especially during this pandemic, and during a HOT LA summer day. We got a carne asada, and a carnitas burrito. Both were soooo good. Amazing flavors, and simple ingredients - just meat, the best beans I've ever had, and fresh pico. Everything was flavored so perfectly. I'm really glad it wasn't stuffed with rice, cheese, avo - even though we love those non-traditional add-ons, they weren't needed. AND! I could actually eat a whole burrito - not those 5 lb ones you get from other places for $13.... We'll definitely be back! read more

Yuca's is always a great go-to place for delish satisfying quick Mexican. Their limited menu makes it easy to choose from the best tacos, tortes and even the cheeseburger which is cooked on the same plancha as the carnitas so it has bomb flavors! I got the steak sandwich cuz for the price you get loads of skirt steak between a French roll. read more

I don't know why it took so long for me to visit this James Beard winning stand. I've literally seen 3 of their items featured on different "best of lists." So I finally popped my cherry here, and what a delightful experience. I had to try their famous Cochinita Pibil & their cheeseburger. I had their cochinita pibil taco and it did not disappoint. Price is a little steep imo for a taco but it paid out in flavor. The cheeseburger was the real surprise for me, as it's from a taco stand. Nice and simple. Same wonderful Yuca's food, but I'm super sad that their prices are so high now. A couple of years ago you could get their carne asada burrito for about $7 and now it is $11. It tastes great, but it's not a huge burrito. And tacos are now $4 each. I appreciate that the pandemic has hit a lot of restaurants hard, and food price inflation totally sucks, but Yuca's never had to even slow down. I tried the chili cheeseburger and the carnitas burrito bc of the great reviews. The cheeseburger was actually amazing. The chili was just ok... I would def get the cheeseburger instead of the chili cheeseburger next time. The carnitas burrito was also a little overrated despite the really good reviews. I spent $19 on the burrito and cheeseburger which I felt was over priced for the quality which is why I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 4. read more

This place is trash. Wow over priced tacos and the burrito is made half assed. I had this twice in hopes the first time was a mistake, but nope. It wasn't mistake. The burrito was nearly empty. The tacos was a big tortilla two I may add, but was shorted on the filling. If you want better tacos and burritos please go somewhere else. This place isn't it. Go to Leo's on sunset and western. Go to taco zone in echo park. Go anywhere south of Franklin ave. This place is a disappointment. Trust me. I gave them a second chance and they have failed me. I've been coming there since 1991 or so. "Mama" Socorro Herrera sitting at her perch taking orders and keeping an eye on things! So nice to see that some things don't chance. Dora wasn't there when I went recently, but I guess she works at the Hollywood location. Steak sandwich is minimalist and beautiful: caramelized loin flap meat slices about 1" wide piled in a small crusty grilled french roll (maybe 5") with lettuce tomato mayo and...ketchup! Don't forget to add a few dabs of El Yucateco hot sauce to make your taste buds dance! Instead of getting my usual Asada tacos (which are excellent quality), instead I opted for cochinita pibil burrito: beans rice and and soft pork meld together in a mild, subtle gooey sauce. It's not a meaty burrito...kinda flat and rectangular. $15 for the sandwich and burrito, a very delicious meal! Love this place and so glad to see them going strong. read more

So finally tried this place out since everyone raves about their carne asada burritos. Hardly any meat in the burrito, it had more beans than anything else. I think refried beans would probably taste better than whole beans but that's all I tasted was beans and very salty. Burritos are not that big for the price they charge. read more

i came here around 3 and i had a hot dog and carne asada. it was surprisingly pretty good :) all i wished better is that the hot dogs weren't so small but overall it was good!! i really liked the carne asada to! also, the people working there are very nice! it's a pretty causal place; you order and they call your name when the food is ready. there are many tables to sit at outside. read more

If anyone asks what my all-time-favorite burrito spot is, i reply with "Yucas!!!" It has always been my go-to! Been coming here since high school and the food tastes as good as day one! Nobody does a carne asada burrito like Yucas! Super tender and juicy! Plain and simple. Stuffed with only beans and onions. Oh, ive heard they use pure lard as a base....if that isn't plain and simple, i don't know what is, hahahaha ;) Their burgers are insanely delicious! Its like your backyard-bbq-charbroil-flavor goooood!! Saturdays are my favorite time to visit since its the only day they bring out their tamales! Don't settle for their drink menu, cause there isn't much. Better luck at the liquor store next door. Overall, Yucas has stuck to its roots. It's the size of an old Kodak booth (sorry those younger than 45), ancient, and is extremely unassuming. Folding chairs in a parking lot, even good places would have gotten 4/5 stars from me at best. However, this place puts something magic in their food. The limited menu favors solid and somewhat uniquely flavored LA style tacos and burritos--that means not much inside but meat and salsa (google Mission style to see the difference). Since 1996 I've exclusively gotten the Chochinita Pibil tacos and blissed out at the indescribably savory flavor. Loved them, still do, even with the greasy burps hours later. It somehow took me 23 years to try their burgers. Wow! Think McDonalds if it was good and cooked on a grill with 40+ years seasoning. Really one of the best fast-food style burgers in town. Now I have two items at Yucas which I have exclusively ordered, and crave at very frequent odd times. Other menu items are great! Per others who I've eaten there with: the style is smaller, more intense, and likely more authentic than other area taquerias. Easy parking, and drinks are available on same lot from a friendly liquor store. If you are lucky enough to see Mama then you realize it's like the Dali Lama blesses your street food.
