I visited this place several times and absolutely love it!! The staff are super friendly. I tried the machaca torta, the carne asada burrito and steak sandwich. The prices are reasonable because the quality of the food is excellent. I love stopping by and ordering my food from them. All of the staff are so very courteous. First time to this place. Always see it in my way to work and looks busy all the time. Was curious to try them out. I was very disappointed in the food. First the price was too high for the quality of food I received. Tacos are not worth it.. they are plain, not enough meat, tortilla falling apart and don't offer salsa. Mexican good with no salsa! I have now lived in Silverlake/ Los Feliz/ Atwater for a few years and for some reason only went for the first time yesterday. What a mistake that was! Uhh this place used to be great. The first time I tried the cochinita pibil burrito I audibly gasped and literally said "YUM!!!!", even though I was alone. Not sure what happened in the last 7 or 8 years since I've eaten there. I would normally feel weird about giving a mom n pop 2 stars but they are so popular it won't affect their livelihood. Came on a Saturday and had a machaca taco, a cochinita pibil taco and a bite of my husband's cheeseburger. The pibil taco was dry and flavorless! Not spicy at all, wrapped with a hard over-cooked tortilla. The machaca had a bit more flavor, but was totally dried out and got stuck in my throat (and teeth!). The burger is what took it over the top. How can their burger be considered one of the best in LA? It's terrible!! Dry, underseasoned (just a little salt would go a long way), smooshed bun and doused in ketchup. I'm glad I didn't take some out of towners here. read more

So my friend surprises me with a burrito and when she tells me it's from YUCA'S I'm like, This is about to be good. This place has been on my radar for a while now I just never have any cash on me. Yup it's cash only. She got me a carne asada burrito and it was damn good. No frills burrito. It's the simple quality ingredients that make it so tasty. Carne asada, beans, and salsa (tom/onions/cilantro). The burrito was pretty wide and filling. The meat was tender and the beans were delicious. High school memories... used to come here after school for lunch with friends and the same old lady greets you in Spanish. The tacos are big and filling but the quality of the meat has downgraded. Personally I think $4 is a bit much for some meat, onions, cilantro, and 2 tortillas. The torta with steak is just okay. It gets really mushy and moist because of the wrapping. The seasoning isn't that good. Honestly, the best thing is the cheeseburger! Yeah a cheeseburger at a taco joint. Perhaps you should order 2. Don't forget the jalapeños! Ps. Sundays, I'd imagine, are sad days for Yuca's most loyal and faithful. They're closed. We, however, popped in on a Saturday. It was our first time. And from the moment we first arrived--eager and anxious to try their widely celebrated conchinita pibil tacos--until we left 45 minutes or so later, this beloved little taco shack's line continued to grow. Pork isn't usually our first choice when it comes to tacos, but the conchinita pibil--slow-roasted, Yucatán-style--was quite a surprise, an eye-opener, in fact! Hands down, the best pork burrito I've tried...anywhere! You have to try their specialty, the "cochinita pibil burrito". The meat is roasted slowly. Can a place be too delicious? Yuca's has the only burritos in LA (that I've tried so far) that even compare to San Diego's.. they are so good. The carnitas burrito is juicy and extremely flavorful. Yuca's is a short walk away from my boyfriend's apartment. Unfortunately, he doesn't like Mexican food, but I make a point of getting to Yuca's whenever I can. The place is a cute little shack on Hillhurst with a few plain tables and chairs surrounding it in a sort of parking lot patio. The free parking is a fantastic plus that seems in line with the easy experience of a meal at Yuca's. The lines are short, the people are nice, the food is cheap, and it comes out fast. The menu is pretty big, and everything I've tried has been delicious in a straightforward, satisfying way. My favorite is the cochinita pibil torta, a tasty sandwich of Yucatan style pork with lettuce, salsa, and mayo on a French roll. The pork is tender and juicy, and though it could be a bit fattier, it has plenty of flavor. I also love the simple zesty salsa of onions, tomatoes, and cilantro. The bread was very soft, even toasted, and it struck me as little more than a hot dog roll. I suppose for $3.50, you can't really demand bakery fresh for your sandwich. I also enjoy the carne asada taco and the carne asada burrito. The meat is well seasoned with a nice heft, and again, I love that salsa. The beans in the burrito are also great, and add enough weight to make the burrito an adequate meal. The tortillas, however, are not particularly good. They aren't fresh and they dry out. On Saturdays, you can get a tamale, but it's not a good one. It's not actively bad, but it's wet in a weird way and it tastes less like corn than I would like. What makes a meal at Yuca's, though, are the pickled jalapeños. They're available upon request, and they make everything delicious. They have a nice grilled texture with a little bite, and they're just spicy enough to enliven every bite of torta or burrito without overwhelming the meat. If I had a jar of these at home I would eat them with everything. I don't often like eating alone, but there's something relaxing about my trips to Yuca's, eating Mexican food off a disposable plate in a busy parking lot. I wish I could get a Diet Coke with my lunch, but that's not a real complaint. I'm happy to have such easy access to Yuca's, and I plan to put those jalapeños in my stomach whenever I get a chance. read more

Disappointed. After all these fantastic reviews I was expecting to be obsessed with Yuca's. I got the carne asada burrito and the second I pulled it out of the wrapper I was upset. It was literally flat. My $.99 cent bean and cheese burritos from Del Taco are bigger than this burrito is. As for the taste, I wasn't wowed. The carne asada was good but the beans were runny and the salsa was bland. Nothing horrible by any means, but nothing I'd ever really want to eat again. The fact that it took me a grand total of 1 minute to eat didn't help. I wanted SO BADLY to like Yuca's because it's exactly .25 miles from my apartment. I will try it again just because it's so close, but next time I'll probably try the tacos because the burrito was not special at all :( read more

Yuca's is Yuccan Gold -- it sets the gold standard. Tried all the tacos, but I love the carne asada and believe it or not, the double cheeseburger. You wouldn't expect that the double cheeseburger could be soooo good. I even eat the cheese off the paper, "cheese paper." Used to toil in the community garden and run over to Yuca's for lunch. Because it's a small seating area, sometimes I take it to go. the small seating means you dine with a diverse cast of characters, a true reflection of Los Angeles. Delicioso! En route from a live taping of Let's Make a Deal to a hike to the Hollywood sign, friends and I were looking for a quick bite of Mexican and found this little spot. Two burritos, a taco, and an empanada later we happily left this little spot with smiles on our faces. What Yuca's lacks in interior design they make up for in authentic flavors. What a local gem this place is. When you arrive, you'll notice the awards they've earned on the wall. And they were well deserved! It is very likely the owner will be sitting out front on her special chair with the curtain drawn next to her while she takes your order. No fluff and no extra nonsense, she'll treat you just like grandma would have, which makes it feel like home =). I have no idea how they season their meat or with what, but whatever they are doing is the absolute way to do it! Menu items are simple and to the point. The steak sandwich or the carne asada burrito are my go-tos. So delicious and tasty! If you are super hungry, get 2 to make sure you're full afterwards. It's kind of an unwritten, well-known tradition to walk next door to the liquor store for a drink/chips while you wait for your food. Definitely give this place a shot and I'll be happy to say "I told you so" afterwards! They are open for takeout and delivery right now. I've seen other reviews written about their staff not wearing masks, which I appreciate! The last time I went, all staff were wearing masks correctly and gloves. I don't know why people rave about this place so much, it's just OK. The tacos are nothing special, and actually kind of bland. The carne asada taco was kind of chewy and didn't taste like much, and the same for the cochinita pibil, just average. The pico de gallo was pretty lackluster as well. I had to pump it up with that bright green sauce, go figure. I suppose it's "hip" to go here, but there are plenty of much better places for this kind of food. read more

I love this little taco place! Their cochinita pobil (pork) taco is outstanding. The meat has tons of flavor, and a little kick. Add some extra salsa for more of a punch. In fact, their tacos reminded me of King Taco, not because they looked like them or even had the same meat (The King Taco taco I'm thinking of has carne asada) but because for some reason it tasted like it. The flavor of the pork taco was reminiscent of King Taco's red salsa without as much heat, which is one of my favorites. Their chips are definitely homemade, thick, crunchy, and flavorful. They'll be perfect for homemade chilaquiles (in fact they even sell chilaquiles but I haven't tried them yet.) read more

Yuca's is fantastic. I have never tried anything but the steak sandwich, but that's because it's so amazing. Every time I think about it I salivate.  I have been here more than twenty times and I have never once been disappointed. I always ask for the roasted jalapeños and it's just the cherry on top! There is fairly huge parking lot to park at and a decent amount of patio seating. All around great experience each time and it's on a fairly safe block too. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone who needs to each lunch. read more

I'll be the first too say, YUCA's has good food..the bread is amazing but it would be a 5 if the portions were a bit bigger. It's tiny and can be found on Hillhurst and luckily enough it has parking! I had two bean and cheese burritos and the family that owns yuca's is super nice. Easily in my top 5 taco stands around LA, there is a small line most of the time..but something always has you coming back. They even have burgers and really delicious sandwiches, granted I'm trying to go back to being more of a vegetarian, but somehow you just have to let that carnivore out of you. Lotsa hype for this miniscule taco stand close to Griffith Park. Call it 3.5 but I will round up. I tried a bunch of different types of tacos and the cochinita pibil burrito which was, by far, the highlight. I loved the beans in it. The tacos were all fine but nothing special. I also tried the hot dog which was colorless and looked very unappetizing. In fact, it had a beautiful grilled taste and was delicious. I was pretty shocked to see this place so bustling! Yuca's is a little shack that sells super delicious tacos! I came here with my friend Rei O. The food is decent for the price you pay. It sure is meaty, and as my friend says, with none of that "crappy filler" food (aka: rice). Even though I am not a fan of tacos, this place tastes amazing! The meat especially... The parking lot is quite small, and the line can get pretty long. There are literally two or three tables with 6 chairs, so it's difficult to find a seat if you come later.
