We love Yum Yum Donuts. It owns the Winchell's franchises and is just as good. Their glazed donuts are the best and so are their cake donuts. Parking is easy in the small strip mall and it is rarely crowded. The service is just great and you get 14 donuts for the price of a dozen. They also have a nice selection of drinks. They have sandwiches which are great and plenty of seating so you can eat there or take it all home. The place is cute and very clean. It is never hot in there. We are always comfortable. We love their coffee, I like mine black, but my husband loves their iced coffee. We also love their Asada sandwich which is thinly sliced, flame-grilled sirloin steak, seasoned to perfection and served on a baked telera roll. It also has house-made pico de gallo for a burst of fresh flavor and Finished their signature blend of zesty 50/50 sauce and smoky chipotle mayo. Go there. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to walk over here to grab some late breakfast. My favorite part of my experience here was the energy and kindness of all the workers. Every single one of them was friendly and welcoming, and it is clearly a popular locals joint. I got the chipotle breakfast bagel which was good, but nothing crazy. It had good flavor and i liked the bagel best. The only thing that was off to me is that the eggs were cooked in a plastic container in the microwave. I had hoped everything would be cooked fresh on a grill but they only reheat the meat in a toaster oven machine with the breads, and the eggs were microwaved. I would've liked it they were cooked them normally since it's a lot healthier! However it was yummy. I also got the blended caramel mocha and it was really sweet and creamy. My boyfriend had ordered the sausage, egg and cheese. She had again asked while she was assembling if he got the bacon, egg and cheese and not wanting to correct her he said yes. She had just forgotten and not on her as she did ask again and he decided not to say his order. He got the breakfast deal which came with a medium coffee and donut for $10. A pretty decent deal and very filling. They also offered a bunch of different flavored creamers to him which he liked. The food was decent and a reliable classic breakfast spot. The main thing we didn't love was that the eggs were microwaved as we felt everything should be cooked on a stove, and just reheating the eggs would make more sense. Today I watched an employee take a broom and scooper from outside, place it down behind counter and then proceed to make a bagel sandwich without washing hands. I came up and asked both men about it. The employee didn't speak English. I continued eating my food at a table and watched that the other employee splashed water on his hand for less than a second. I guess this is washing hands when dealing with food. My mom comes here regularly for years so I'm not letting her eat here anymore. Staff needs to be retrained. I take my kids to Yum Yum every other Friday to celebrate a great week in school. We always get a strawberry banana smoothie and a donut. Chocolate or glaze. Delicious!!!!! I love fresh glaze donuts and they have the best ones. I love the service here! This strip mall merchant has been a donut store since I was in college, if not before. I'm not sure if it was called Yum Yum then, as it now appears that Yum Yum is a chain. I pulled into this strip mall and thought I'd get a donut or two to eat en route to Clutter's (LAX plane spotting) Park on the slope above Imperial Highway in El Segundo. The prices were a little bit more 90293 (read: Playa del Rey) than in SoCal's hinterlands, so I settled on one donut - a double chocolate one with chocolate sprinkles. They're getting a review for that one donut! The employee helping me was polite, the donut was delicious, the store was clean, and there is off-street parking right in front of the store. In terms of its context, the pricing is probably appropriate. I never went into this donut store during college until senior year, even though I went to the Bob's Big Boy that was diagonally across the intersection about 2 or 3 times a week. A few of us taking a class had put off coming up with our fluff weekly journal writings for a course, so we gathered together and pulled an "all nighter" the night before this journal was due. We needed sustenance and the idea of donuts came up. I thought of this place in Playa del Rey whose name back then I don't remember. I made the donut run. I had seen it was open 24 hours, but the front door was locked. I kept banging on the entry door, given that there was an employee there. I then returned to the study group empty handed and, to put my one year of collegiate Spanish into use, called up the place and said, "Porque estas cerrado? Nosotros necesitamos donuts ... donuts frescos y nuevos." At 2 a.m., people tend to get stir crazy and the others were laughing their asses off in the background. This "frescos y nuevos" line became an inside joke. I went back and was able to get the box of donuts. They turned out to be good donuts. They were indeed "frescos y nuevos." We made it through the night and completed those journal write-ups. I'm sure that we owed some thanks to this donut shop. Today's Yum Yum PDR location is a nice, clean little store with parking in its lot and you can eat what you buy inside or take it to go. read more

I've been coming to this Donut Shop on and off for maybe 8 years. The head manager (or owner...I'm not sure) Gris is AMAZING. She is the sweetest and kindest person. She and the rest of the staff are so friendly, they make you feel so at home the minute you walk in. I've since moved out of state and can go a year without going there, but every time I go in there Gris greets me by my name. She actually remembers my name even though she hasn't seen me in a year. That is really impressive. It is and always will be my favorite Donut Shop...mainly because of Gris and her staff!! read more

First of all, I want to make clear, Yum Yum Donuts is our favorite weekly stop for bagels and donuts on our dog walk walk. The staff are courteous and friendly - and fast. And the bagels and donuts are "usually" very fresh and delicious. That said, today I got a stale bagel. When I got home I started to cut the two bagels my husband and I got, and one was so much harder and stale than the other. My husband had to go back and get another bagel. This seems completely unacceptable. How can you allow stale bagels to remain in your batch to get mixed up with fresh ones? Don't they toss old product? Further, when my husband went to return the stale bagel, the staff member simply tossed it in the trash, mumbled some sort of apology and gave him a "different" kind of bagel than what was returned, without a word. Fortunately my husband checked before he accepted it and discovered the mistake. The man said "we're out of sesame" - well thanks for telling me! I would've been really upset getting a plain bagel instead of sesame. This isn't the first time I have received the wrong kind of bagel - so be sure to double check your order before you leave. It's understandably hard to understand each other talking through the masks. Alls well that ends well - and we'll be going back there after our dog walks - but keeping an eye on things before we leave. lol read more
