This review is for their banana latte. This was amazing! Pleasantly surprised of how amazing this was. Cute little spot by the water, would come back just for this. Recommend!
Cute little cafe in Playa Del Rey! So many fun drink menu items but decided to go with Tanner's Cold Brew Latte for my first drink here. It's lightly sweetened, and not very strongly flavored. I like that it's not too sweet even though I forgot to ask them to adjust the sweetness. The owners and staff are very kind and hospitable. Even on a Monday afternoon, it's decently busy. There's a parking lot next to the cafe with complimentary 23 minute pick up spots. And Tanner's also has free 1 hour parking codes that you can scan after a purchase. I appreciate that there are some gluten free pastries - I'll have to come back and try! Seems like a decent work or study spot for this area! But it is quite warm in the cafe as there isn't air conditioning - but lots of fans circulating the air around. The cafe itself isn't pet friendly but there are a few tables set up outside along the sidewalk where pets can sit and hang out.
I can't recall any establishment where everyone who works there is super nice, respectful, personable, and cheerful all in one. They all are that way! Where do they find such great employees?! The tryouts to make the Tanner's team must be even harder than becoming a flight attendant for Emirates Airlines! Wow, I really enjoyed my visit. The coffee and the baked goods were a bonus, and yes, they were excellent! You will love this place. It gets crowded, and it can get REALLY loud, but it seems to go in waves. It's just a couple of blocks from the beach and a park, so you can easily take your goods to go. There's a parking lot on the north side of the building. You pay with a QR code. It's pretty reasonable.
The green eggs and ham was so cold after waiting 14 mins to be made when there was only one customer infront of me. Walked to my car to take bite 15 steps away to have it feel like egg was from a fridge. The banana cream top matcha was gross. It was not probably what I ordered because I usually get this from La Mirada - Tanners. This one was dusted with matcha and the foam was flavorless. The lemon poppy seed scone could break your teeth how hard it was. I actually dropped it on my way out carrying my stuff and it didn't even break inside the bag. All for $30
I had the best time at Tanner's Coffee. I grabbed a cozy little corner with my book & iPad and somehow ended up hanging out for hours. the vibe was just that good. The two employees working were incredibly kind and welcoming. I forgot my charger, and they were kind enough to let me borrow one during my visit. The girl who made my chai had the sweetest smile and such a warm energy. And the chai? tasted like it was prepared by angels. safe to say, I've officially found my new favorite chai spot. Its also in such a cute, walkable area, which made the whole experience even better. I loved the ambiance, loved the people, and already looking forward to coming back.
Greetings! My long overdue review for Tanner's is finally here! I visit this place while working so my time is limited, so my apologies! For me, this place hits home. I'm a bus operator and layover down the street, so this is the perfect 'usaaa' place for me to unwind and just be in one with the abyss. Its my peaceful and relaxation time from all the up & down chaos from the city streets, as I drive through it lol. I do like the ambiance. It is definitely a modern style luxury. Not too fancy, not too poor of a setting, it's just right. Being shoreline close to the beach, I think is pretty cool! I'm normally there in the mornings and the staff is always great and ready to help you. I even phone order sometimes to beat the line and time and they are always great over the phone as well. One thing that I really like is that they openly answer any of your silly questions you may have. I love coffee, but I'm not a coffee connoisseur and I know it can go far deep and there's some coffee places where you walk in and you automatically feel like you should already know what you want? Well this really isn't the place. I would say their coffee is a little different and I finally had the courage to ask why and it's their espresso. It just always taste a little bit more stronger no matter how I ask for the latte, which I don't mind. I just didn't know it was espresso being used on the latte. Let's dive into the food; If you're reading this part, I'm assuming I still have your awesome attention so I'll get right to it, the 'Green Eggs & Ham Sandwich on a jalapeno bagel hits 10/10! You should definitely give that one a whirl. I also switch it up and go regular croissant as well which also tastes really good. Now I don't know why they don't add mayonnaise to their sandwiches but be mindful to ask for that if that is your go to as well. I finally tried their pastries on my last visit. The chocolate chip cookie does have a unique taste, which I really enjoyed and it was not too crunchy yet still somewhat soft, which made every bite really good. I think I got the loaf of bread too, but I might've saved it for my mom :) If you're a regular, I would recommend getting in their point system. After signing up, I got a free pastry on my third visit. They give you cashback rewards in store credit. Btw, i did notice they moved their menu around a little bit since the time I took their menu pictures, so don't hold them to it lol They are dog friendly btw! So bring them on that nice walk or trip. You may not see it, but they do have a restroom for customers that you can use. And one of my lovely things I like about it is that it's always, clean! I'm sad that I got relocated to another division, but in the near future once I'm back, I will definitely be back, thanks!
This place makes me smile. The workers are so friendly and kind and the coffee is delicious. It's one of my favorite coffee shops to visit when I'm in town. 10/10
Tried to fulfill my new caffeine cravings with a latte from Tanner's. I decided to be very adventurous and try their Butterfinger mocha latte, which was pretty solid. I appreciate their variety, but missed the speciality taste and flavors. Nice spot near the beach with a lot of locals working on the weekend.
Wow, idk if it was because I was there early but paid and my drink was done. Well felt that fast, the turn around time in the coffee was great. Coffee taste was good, I ordered a vanilla latte and it was not too sweet but had a good balance of flavors. I did see people drinking coffee with a pastry but unfortunately I did not order one.
Just spent $42 including tip on a ham cheese and egg, and a lox bagel. I was the only customer in the store. Somehow they sent me home with two completely plain bagels. How do you even make this mistake I was the ONLY ONE HERE. Extremely disappointed.

They have flyers in back but lots are out of date so unsure how often people look. It's right by where you wait for your stuff. I've had the 7 layer bar (too good) and waffle (just tastes like the grocery store ones) so far. Black tea is unreasonably good for just being black. It tastes tropical. Location is the main draw. This place gets crowded so expect to wait cuz they don't staff the place it seems, oh well.
Well, to be honest they messed up my order. The cashier boy misunderstood and didn't repeat back the order. Maybe I should've checked the screen and seen the mistake? But they replaced my latte with the one I wanted. Raspberry vanilla latte. I dream about you. We used to live nearby but moved so when we came for vacation I knew I wanted to stop here. Quaint café with a quirky vintage vibe going on, with lots of framed pictures of the area from years ago. Really cool and unique We got the croissant with avocado, ham, cheese and egg -- gorgeous! Also tried the bagel with bacon, egg and cheese, which was really good. The pastries were ok: we got the blueberry scone, which felt a little dry, and the cinnamon pastry, basically a remake of the usual cinnamon roll. It was good, although a little dry around the outside. The drinks were great! That little foam they add to the cold brews was divine and really adds a tasty touch without all those disgusting syrups. We grabbed our food and drinks and walked to the beach, which is a 2-minute walk away. Highly recommend doing this! There are quite a few tables inside and outside if you fancy staying, although no pets are allowed inside. The staff is super friendly, but prices do tend to be on the high end. We spent over $65 including tip for 2 lattes, 2 pastries and 2 sandwiches. Parking is on the street and free, although you might have to drive around the little streets nearby or use the public parking. read more

I just saw a video on Instagram where the owner mentioned that Tanner's Coffee is celebrating its 20-year anniversary, so I decided to stop by and check it out for myself. The coffee was really good, but what I enjoyed most was the history you can feel inside this place. The photos on the walls tell the story of how long they've been part of the Playa del Rey community. It looks like they've done some remodeling and updated the menus, but they've still managed to keep the character and memories that come with 20 years of hard work. Congratulations to Tanner's Coffee on 20 years! Definitely a special neighborhood spot worth checking out. read more

Before being published, this review underwent a number of revisions! To begin with, I've been visiting Tanners for the past fifteen years! I adore this small, rustic establishment. Which, since the restoration, is vivid in its bright white exterior all while the interior is the same! Parking: Plenty and easily accessible thankfully! The walkability to neighboring restaurants and the beach is excellent also! Ambiance: It's a cozy spot! Usually has numerous people occupying tables and chairs: working, reading, studying, so better arrive early if you want to grab a seating. It's totally a low key vibe. Everyone is in the zone! I appreciate that, especially since the environment itself is not corporate. Drinks / Beverages: Tanner (whomever he is) was impermeable to criticism; up until 2018 that is...E-V-E-R-Y ice blended drink was flawlessly balanced and smooth! Texturized with "the right amount of bite and crunch in every sip", thick, the way a frappe or ice blender should be! The multiple layers of flavors were always evenly dispersed too! Creamsicle, Machata, White Mocha, and Chocolate Mocha, ALL delicious, even the European Cocoa and Macchiato were soo on point Tanner was easily a favorite GO-TO. However... IN 2018 I experienced more than a few unbalanced and watered down drinks. Gross. 2024? I gave them 2-3 more tries to NO AVAIL. Sadly, as a near and dear friend who came out for the first time put it "it's just the local coffee shop". I was defending Tanner to the teeth for its memory was so much sweeter than its reality. Whomp Whomp. Retraining the barista? Maybe. They all have a great personality! Super sweet but idk it sort of sucks when basic drinks are not met to coffee shop standards! RIP Tanners COFFEE SHOP (not the man himself), just the shell of a building that held memories of quenching my thirst on hot summer afternoons and warming up the soul on a cold winter morning. The vibe of this coffee shop is very chill and relaxed. The old cushioned couches are ready for you to fall and lounge in. They have wifi and small tables good for studying! Tanners code seems to be dog friendly and even give out pup cups. They have so many options when Iooking for food and drinks. AND this shop is right by the beach! read more
I have to say this is the cutest little cafe and chill vibe place to be to read a book or hang out and do some work. I had the best Turkey pesto sandwich ever it was so delicious! I was really surprised at how good it was. Service was so friendly and nice. Super windy day we ordered a chai latte and loved the time we spent there hanging out before we drove back home. I don't frequent this Tanners. I did want to pick up a cup of coffee Friday, 1-9-26, shortly after 6 a. m. This site shows hours open at 6 a. m. The sign on the door shows open at 6:30 a. m. Please update online hours. I guess I will still not patronize this business. read more

Life without good coffee is a scary feeling. Lol. Without further ado let's begin this hot review. Tanner's Coffee is a local corner coffee shop that offer traditional coffee, teas, smoothies, sandwiches, bagel and many more. It's located Vista Del Mar Ln and Culver blvd in Playa Del Rey, Los Angeles. The interior is warm, comfortable and full of pictures from the early days around Playa del Ray, some modern paintings and leather couches and chairs that makes a leisurely stay quite welcoming. I came here to grab a lunch sandwich and drink; I was warmly greeted by a young male staff and took my order. I ordered a Cold Brew (M) and Turkey Egg Cheese (+ tomatoes and spinach) croissant sandwich. My cold brew was smooth and refreshing while my sandwich was delightful, healthy and satisfying. This dovetails the experience that I had in this coffee shop. Prices seem reasonable for the area and match the quality of their drinks/food. Overall, I ebulliently recommend this corner coffee shop. read more
I live so close to this place but this is my first time I came and sat to eat something. I had a mocha with almond milk, avocado toast and a pastry that I shared it but I actually ate most of it. Nice place to seat and talk. read more

Tanners Coffee is the perfect spot for a post beach coffee, or to sit and study for a while! They have about seven small tables and one long one, plenty of comfortable chairs and some couches!! I looove their iced white mocha, but the chai is also so yummy. I will say their food isn't my absolute favorite but it is still good and fills you up!!! The bagels aren't as soft as I would like, and maybe adding a little sauce to the breakfast sandwich would make it better for me personally!! Still love Tanners and the workers are always really kind!! read more

Immediately welcomed with the bluest eyes Ive ever seen. And the yummiest smell of coffee and pastries. . Green egg and ham was so delicious. Hit the gspot. Ambience gives another universe, yet at the same time feels like cumming home. The luxury of thier seating gives mafia boss, and I love feeling that sense of power. read more

Tanner's is a familiar style of small coffee shop. Comfortable mis-matched furniture inside, with comfortable music. In addition to a full range of hot and cold drinks they have a nice menu of made-to-order sandwiches (mostly on bagels--which I tend to like!). The staff are easy-going and friendly and the service is reasonably quick (at least at noon on a Saturday). My Rise and Shine Bagel sandwich was fresh and tasty and my regular coffee was just right. They also have outdoor, sidewalk tables. One downside can be traffic noise there--since they are right in the heart of Playa del Rey. But I like the outdoor environment. Tanner's is a nice place for take-out, a light snack or meeting a friend. read more

Laidback coffee shop in Playa that's good for a post-surf sesh. Came here on a Saturday morning around 9:30am and there was a short line, but it moved quickly. Indoor/outdoor seating is available. There's a parking lot on the side with paid parking, but if you're there for a quick stop, there is a row of spots for ~20 min free parking. Credit cards accepted. I got a hot matcha latte with oat milk and it was a bit weak, but luckily not too sweet. The cashier seemed a bit distracted so I needed to repeat my order. They do have food available (I.e, bagels, pastries, etc) as well as smoothies. The acai one is thick and well-blended. Overall, it's a relatively quick in-and-out local spot. read more
