There was fabulous seasoning that made it stand out in flavor over any eggs Benedict I've had in the past. Very reasonably priced at $12.95. Also had a large iced cafe vanilla. Not too much caffeine. I'll drink it really fast when it's good and it disappeared quickly. $6.00 also very reasonable for the size. Excellent place to grab breakfast or lunch and go walk the beach. The food here is not tasty. Two people in our group got two different types of pancakes and we all agreed that they somehow tasted full of preservatives even though it's a mom & pop styled cafe. It was not at all what you would except from a small business, the taste was akin to ihop or Denny's. I simply do not like the taste of preservatives especially in my bread like items. So upon telling one of the workers "So sorry but I didn't like these at all", he just stared, shrugged his shoulders, and replied "ok", with an attitude. To which my response was, is there a way to get a refund (because I didn't want a remake of the terrible pancakes), his response "yea I guess but there was nothing wrong", what would have like to say because of his nasty attitude was "well besides them being disgusting?, no, nothing wrong", instead the gracious reply I gave was a simple "no". The extra star is because the drinks were decent and someone who had French toast said hers was ok. However it was also mentioned that the potatoes were virtually unseasoned, on two separate plates, the eggs overcooked, and the bacon somehow cold. Not all breakfast spots can be a hit but the food paired with the attitude made this a poor choice altogether. read more

I filled up my gas tank and drove the streets of LA. I decided to go Playa del Rey and while in route, if I saw a place for a latte, I would go. I cruised on in to PDR and saw the "Cafe Milan: Restaurant, Coffee House" sign. Perfect! On this cold and windy day, I pulled into the parking lot. Walked inside to a cute little coffee shop. Far from busy, plenty of seats, cozy and clean. For whatever reason, I decided against the latte and got a hot mexican chocolate with almond milk. The fella behind that counter, with beautiful long hair, made a really delicious, comforting, hot chocolate beverage for me. I sat there, at the establishment, and took in the atmosphere; the colors, the simple decor and the other patrons that came in to order their favorite item on the menu. Some places, for whatever reason, really have me connected to the universe in a way that is profound. Cafe Milan is one of those places. I always find myself more introspective here. I feel like I am most myself here. And when you are most yourself you are more creative, more loving, more forgiving, etc. Just the best you you can be at that specific moment and time. When I am writing outside in what is essentially a parking lot that borders a small highway, I find the words just pour out of me. When I am thinking, I find the thoughts flow clearly. When I have a hard life decision to make, I come here to think on it while demolishing my plate filled with sausage, eggs, potatoes, and sourdough toast. The energy here is just so calm and restoring. You will likely read this and think this dude is absolutely nuts for writing this in a Yelp review lol. That's completely fair. Cute little spot a short walk from the sand. I came in around 230p on a Friday in late fall, and was seated immediately. I got the Cajun Chicken Sandwich on sourdough, with tomato bisque soup. The soup was somewhere between a vegetable soup and what I'd normally expect of a tomato bisque, but still quite lovely. The sandwich was very good, the bread, tomato, and arugula very fresh, the chicken cooked well but still very tender and moist, just enough of whatever sauce it is that makes it "Cajun". Staff was friendly and my food came out in under 10 minutes. I feel bad for the security guard here, having to intercept the unruly day drinking Boomers coming in from the dive bar next door. I did not see that they have a bathroom here. Dropping a star because inside it's kinda humid and stifling, and more than one table was not clean when I got there, and were not cleaned while I was there. Very good coffee that was very close to our Airbnb. We always like to support local whenever we can so this quaint little shop made some good coffee and the kitchen put out some good breakfast. The interior was small and sat very few so we opted to sit outside and enjoy the SoCal morning weather. The food and service are good, and I've been a regular customer. However, today I noticed that the portions are getting smaller. Instead of receiving two slices of toast with a $20 basic breakfast, they now only give one, as was evident during my visit. I understand that expenses are up, but I was shocked that they are now saving money by reducing the toast from two slices to one for a $20 breakfast. Thats just weird! Safe enough outside dining for sure, covid-wise. It just gets crowded time to time because the food is really good. Staff service is nice, laid back, not overbearing. Just a cool place to get a tasty and often healthy good breakfast, brunch, lunch. I saw a review with a legitimate concern about masks, so they should be careful to wear them even though the door's open for ventilation and most people eat outside there anyway.
