I've been going here since they opened this location and it never disappoints. The food is always amazing, the staff are always really sweet. I love the vibe inside. If you go and you enjoy an old fashioned I highly recommend their nokoribi. I get it every time I go. Food wise we usually order a lot, but my personal favorites are the kama-toro sushi, Hokkaido uni, creamy rock shrimp, okra, and pllllsss try the kanpachi crudo with cilantro miso. Celebrating our daughter-in-law's birthday at her favorite sushi restaurant in Calabasas. We asked for the back room where it is a little less bustling and less noisy so conversation is easier. We started with two orders of edamame - one regular ($7) and one spicy ($9). I preferred the spicy - not too hot for a gringo palate. After that we shared a variety of rolls and specialty rolls including spicy tuna crispy roll ($18), spicy shrimp crispy rice ($19), creamy rock shrimp tempura ($18), albacore crispy onion ($30), shrimp tempura cut roll ($15), California roll ($11), and citrus roll ($24). One dish was better than the next - hard to choose which was my favorite (though next time I will pass on the California roll and the albacore crispy onion). My family and I had such an amazing experience at Yume Sushi. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and everything from the food to the atmosphere made the night feel special. The Yume Roll melted in our mouths and had the perfect slight citrusy flavor. We also loved the Creamy Salmon Cut Roll, the Albacore Roll (slightly spicy but so delicious), and the Shrimp on Shrimp Roll. The spicy tuna crispy rice was incredible, perfectly crispy rice topped with the creamiest spicy tuna that literally melted in our mouths. Not much rice at all that usually over powers the fish and flavors is the key. I've never seen it done so well. The citrus roll had a nice bright flavor while the cilantro roll had a nice pop of spice. The other differentiator was the cocktail program. The smoked old fashion and smoked Taru were awesome. It was nice to have cocktails with sushi instead of sake and beer. It will likely be a somewhat pricey night but well worth it because of the quality, details, and overall experience. The albacore with crispy onions was amazing, and the sushi itself was just really solid overall. I honestly think this place is really all about the ambience and vibe though. It's super pretty inside, pretty spacious, and they even have a really nice waiting bar area if you get there early. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand. I've been wanting to try Yume since they first opened, but then I found out I was pregnant -- and now that the baby's here, all I've been craving is sushi! We finally made it out for a date night, and I'm so glad we did. The vibe at Yume is intimate, contemporary, and romantic -- perfect for a date night. They offer three seating options: the lounge, table in their main area, and the sushi bar. We initially were offered a table in the lounge, but luckily when they texted us, a table became available in their main area. Our server was so kind and walked us through the menu, pointing out some of their most popular dishes. We started with the creamy rock shrimp tempura, truffle edamame, and sashimi salad -- all absolutely delicious and a great way to kick off the meal. For our mains, we had the cilantro roll, citrus roll, Yume roll, spicy tuna hand rolls, and a few pieces of sushi. Personally, I thought the rolls really stood out -- especially the Yume and citrus rolls, both very flavorful. The nigiri was good, but it didn't quite have that "wow" factor I've experienced elsewhere in the Valley. I'm giving Yume 4 out of 5 stars because of the nigiri and also it took some time for our items to come out even though they weren't that packed. Still, everything else was spot on and I'd definitely order the same appetizers and rolls. Next time I want to make reservation for the sushi bar and try a few other items on their menu. I went here with my girlfriend to celebrate a birthday together and an anniversary. The exp was not what we expected. Host acknowledged bday and said to us they would do something special. Nothing ever came which was weir. However, let's talk about the food. As someone who has been to Japan and eaten every sushi spot in the valley I have a decent understanding of what fish should taste like. The abundance of wasabi they put on every piece was insane. I could not even taste anything but at least my sinuses got cleared lol. They even put so much wasabi on the wagyu pieces we ordered that when I scraped it off it still tasted like pure wasabi. I feel you should let guests know and ask if they even want any wasabi to avoid this. We got two carpaccios yellowtail and white fish with truffle. Yellowtail was not bad but pieces were super thick so ending taste was always a bit fishy. The white fish truffle was a 0/10. Come here if you want a modern / chic ambience and a nice cocktail menu or to hangout in a larger group. The few apps we tried were not good: corn tempura was super dense, & the mushroom toban-yaki's sauce was super salty and it was an expensive dish for what it was. Fish for the nigiri felt like smaller slices compared to other places. A couple items we enjoyed: seared toro, kanpachi, engawa. Scallops were definitely smaller here. Kinmedai was ok but the threadfin bream was not good, had a fishy smell and taste. Also not a fan of the kisu, which had like no flavor. Sweet shrimp nigiri was good but the fried heads came out super greasy and unpleasantly smelly! Service was good in the first half of the meal, then later on it was hard to find our server. They did mess up a couple of our orders (wrong number of nigiri). Took a really long time to find her to correct a mistake on our bill. I probably would not come back here again. read more

Right after we got there n ordered, as soon as they brought our food, the power went down n the whole restaurant went dark, so everyone left n we didnt know what to do, we picked on a few food in the dark n the server came asked us to pay rightaway. It was wo uncomfortable. If it was any other place, they would have offered atleast something not to come charge us without even us eating. We couldnt enjoy or even finish our food and were forced to pay and leave. I am exteremly dissappointed of how unprofessional they were and it was our first time there too. This was one of the most disappointing sushi experiences I've had in Los Angeles. The fish itself was fresh and of good quality, but everything else felt like a rip-off. Yume Sushi Bar charges approximately 30% more than comparable sushi restaurants, so naturally I expected a premium experience. Instead, I was served sashimi sliced so thin that I could literally see the color and pattern of the plate through the fish. I've never been served sashimi cut this paper-thin anywhere else. The sushi pieces were equally disappointing--tiny, almost comically small, as if they were trying to stretch enough fish for one piece into three. The portions were so skimpy that I left feeling cheated rather than satisfied. I don't mind paying premium prices for exceptional sushi. What I do mind is paying premium prices and receiving portions that feel intentionally minimized. Fresh fish alone does not justify these prices. I left hungry, disappointed, and with the feeling that this restaurant prioritizes maximizing profit over providing value to its customers. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

Firstly, the space is gorgeous with a full bar, very open with plenty of seating and room to enjoy your sushi without having to sit in a crammed or confined space. The quality here is also great with innovative takes on presenting their food. Every bite feels thoughtfully crafted, balancing creativity with purity. Some of my favorite bites so far include the Kanpachi special with Japanese peaches, Barracuda nigiri, Hokkaido scallops, Albacore sashimi with Kogashi butter soy, red snapper with fresh truffles, Wagyu skewers, and the Yellowtail cilantro roll... but I'm still exploring the menu! Calabasas dining has just been elevated! As a longtime fan of Yume in Studio City, I was initially skeptical that this new Calabasas location could live up to the high standards of the original. Thankfully not only did it meet my expectations, it surpassed them. I ordered all my favorite dishes from the Studio City location and each arrived at an even higher level of presentation, flavor, and quality. My must try items include the avocado truffle crispy toast, halibut sashimi, kanpachi sashimi with miso, albacore sashimi with kogashi butter soy, red snapper sashimi, and the seared salmon with truffle sushi and citrus roll. While the sashimi portions are not overly generous, the freshness, precision of the cut, and overall quality more than make up for it. I also appreciate that the sushi and rolls have a smaller rice to fish ratio.... which is exactly the way I like it. The new space is beautiful, spacious and elegantly designed, located right in the heart of Calabasas bustling shopping and dining district. The host was warm and welcoming, though the service staff still has some room for improvement in attentveness and friendliness. Hopefully with time, the service will match the excellence of the food and ambiance. I came with a reservation for 3 at 6:30 on a weekday and it was honestly really busy. I didn't expect such an ambience judging by how small the outside was. They really made use of the space, it felt so spacious, clean, modern, sexy on the inside. I sat at the dining tables, but next time, i would love to try the sushi bar. As you are seated, a waitress comes with a warm towel opened for you to clean your hands. One of the dinner guests at our party arrived a little bit later and they didn't mind seating us, we got started with drinks and was offered appetizers. I loved the way we were able to order. We kind of just ordered dishes as we went along, even though it was really busy, it didn't feel like they were rushing us at all. It's the little things that win points for me, for them it was that they had Ponzo at the table already, next to the soy sauce! I would go so far, as to call this, the Nobu of Calabasas. obviously, Shibuya is the tried and true OG sushi spot- yume is completely different from that. I love them both for different reasons. what we had- spicy tuna crispy rice- order it, it's so good yume roll- probably one of my favorite dishes we ordered dream roll- everyone at my table loved it, I thought it was good, but not my favorite citrus roll- fresh light, but the flavorful, order it miso cod- this one was just OK, I like the one from Nobu and erewhon hot bar better baked crab soy paper roll-really good! The dining room is actually surprisingly spacious given how many tables and the size of the room. The tables and plates are all aesthetically pleasing. Enjoyed that they offer warm towels service before getting started. Their website says smart casual but many of the other diners were pretty much in casual wear. We were told that dinner service is much more popular and crowded. Lunch was fairly light for a Saturday so if you'd like a more laid back and chill environment, I'd recommend coming for lunch. Service was attentive with our waiter providing recommendations, a run down of the menu, and. Checking in with us throughout our meal. Other service staff also made sure our plates were cleared in a timely fashion. There are plenty of options for everyone both from a raw fish lovers to vegetables, meat skewers and cooked fish. Which I plan to explore more of their menu items in the future. If you can splurge for it, do enjoy the A5 Wagyu skewers. It comes in two styles. One with tare sauce. One with salt and pepper. Both are worth trying for a melt in your mouth experience. The sunomono is great to share with a table to get started especially since it was a warm day, a refreshing start to the meal. If you are mushroom lover, the mushroom taban Yaki is a must. It's simply addicting and delicious, a great option and I'd order again in a heartbeat. My favorite bites actually were the sushi, both the Hokkaido scallops (which tasty of the sea and were tender) and uni ( buttery and indulgent) were amazing bites that required a pause in conversation to enjoy the sushi. One downer is they offer tea services both iced and hot. However their hojicha just comes in a tea bag and was just okay. It would be nice if they actually invested in a brewed tea whole tea leaf option at this level of dining. However their cocktails appear to be quite popular. The ambiance is aesthetically pleasing and well thought out and the service friendly and very knowledgeable. My friend and I ordered the following as rated: Spicy tuna crispy rice: 9.2/10. Great taste. Wish was a little bit bigger. Also heard great things about the shrimp crispy rice. Blue crab handroll: 9.8/10 so good we ordered two (each). Just wish the seaweed was more crisp. Yellowtail cilantro roll: 9.5/10 if you're a fan of cilantro this is the roll for you. A fusion of flavor. Citrus roll: 9.25/10 spicy tuna with lemon and garlic chips. What more could a girl want? Albacore sashimi with friend onions: 9/10. Incredible flavor. Melts in your mouth with the perfect crunch from the onions. Leaves you wanting more.
