Finally made it to Yume sushi in Calabasas, and I swear...every bite reminded me why I can never say no to good sushi. From the incredibly fresh fish to the beautiful presentation, this meal was one of those experiences that won't leave my memory anytime soon. Located in the old town / downtown portion of Calabasas, it can get busy downtown, so anytime a restaurant here takes a reservation I make one, which was definitely the move. Even on a weekday at opening for lunch we were third in line (but again, had a reservation so no issue). Also I appreciate that they have valet parking, only $7 not bad since the street parking can be hard to navigate. The restaurant itself has such a sleek, modern vibe that makes it perfect for date night, girls' night, or celebrating something special. It definitely feels upscale, but still welcoming and comfortable. We ordered a variety of sushi, cocktails, and specialty rolls, and honestly there wasn't a miss. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, the flavors were balanced, and you can tell they put a lot of care into every dish. The quality absolutely shines through. Service was also 5 stars. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in. Different staff helped out and checked on us, I always appreciate a restaurant where everyone helps every table. Great service and felt personable. If you're a sushi lover who doesn't mind spending a little more $$$ for amazing quality and an elevated ambiance, then this spot deserves a place on your list. For a cocktail and a few rolls/sushi it was $100 a person, yes a little steep but the quality and presentation was there. If you want to save money opt out of the cocktails but you'll still spend about $75 a person that way. My favorite bites here were their speciality FatherKels Roll and the Amber Jack sushi to start. Everything was super good though, A+ all around.
Yume has delicious sushi! The fish was really fresh, and we enjoyed the nigiri and hand rolls. For appetizers, we tried the popcorn shrimp and crispy rice, and both were really good. They also have a great sake selection. The service was very attentive throughout our meal, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. There's both street and valet parking available. Definitely a great spot for fresh sushi in Calabasas.
Service is great. The hostesses and our server were nice. The ambience is casual nice . It was was buzzing and vibey even on a Wednesday evening. Food wise - always on par. Really fresh sushi and fresh ingredients. Everything we ordered was great. We had a fish ripped with truffles and that was amazing with generous amount of it. Everything else were as usually good. Definitely make a reservation before going.
My family and I had such an amazing experience at Yume Sushi. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and everything from the food to the atmosphere made the night feel special. The Yume Roll melted in our mouths and had the perfect slight citrusy flavor. We also loved the Creamy Salmon Cut Roll, the Albacore Roll (slightly spicy but so delicious), and the Shrimp on Shrimp Roll. The spicy tuna crispy rice was incredible, perfectly crispy rice topped with the creamiest spicy tuna that literally melted in our mouths. The staff surprised us with ice cream for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. The servers were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcomed throughout the evening. The decor is beautiful with a modern, elegant vibe that's perfect for a date night, girls' night, or even a family dinner with older kids. We'll definitely be back again!
One of Our favorite sushi spots near home. We went here last night in a dinner date night. We ordered 4 speciality rolls and they were all amazing. Our favorite was the garlic albacore. They all melted in your mouth. We also like that they brought each specialty roll at a time. You get to enjoy each one on its own without having to rush. Can't wait to come back.
Ordered take out from here 1st time and I am impressed. Fresh & delicious rolls. All of them are fire! You must try. Highly recommend.
If you want an upscale, focused on the details sushi experience go to Yume and make sure to sit at the sushi bar for the show. We started with the truffle edamame and the sunomono. Both were excellent and great to pick on through the night in between sushi courses. I'm not usually a sushi roll guy but their rolls are amazing. Not much rice at all that usually over powers the fish and flavors is the key. I've never seen it done so well. The citrus roll had a nice bright flavor while the cilantro roll had a nice pop of spice. The other differentiator was the cocktail program. The smoked old fashion and smoked Taru were awesome. It was nice to have cocktails with sushi instead of sake and beer. It will likely be a somewhat pricey night but well worth it because of the quality, details, and overall experience. Valet on the side of the restaurant for $7.
I had never really spent time in Calabasas before, so this restaurant made for such a good first experience there. The drinks here are phenomenal. Even the ice was special, I think it was some sort of yuzu ice ball in my passionfruit drink, and it was so good. You can tell they really pay attention to the details. The albacore with crispy onions was amazing, and the sushi itself was just really solid overall. I honestly think this place is really all about the ambience and vibe though. It's super pretty inside, pretty spacious, and they even have a really nice waiting bar area if you get there early. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand. Our server was also really sweet and helped us pick out drinks, which made the experience even better.
Very beautiful ambience and interior. Sushi was incredibly tasty, great fish to rice ratio, fresh tasting and well balanced. One of the better sushi spots in the valley for sure. Highly recommend checking this place out. My only complaint would be how much we had to flag our waiter down to get a refill of water. If we didn't ask, we wouldn't get a refill. Other than that, no other real complaints

Amazing service brought a buddy of mine for his birthday and was seated at the cocktail bar. We had an absolute blast and couldn't have ended the night on a better note without our bartender Kaleb, an absolute pleasure having him as our server, good down to earth guy and made the night a blast! I definitely recommend asking for Kaleb to be your server, thank you!!!
Celebrating our daughter-in-law's birthday at her favorite sushi restaurant in Calabasas. We asked for the back room where it is a little less bustling and less noisy so conversation is easier. We started with two orders of edamame - one regular ($7) and one spicy ($9). I preferred the spicy - not too hot for a gringo palate. After that we shared a variety of rolls and specialty rolls including spicy tuna crispy roll ($18), spicy shrimp crispy rice ($19), creamy rock shrimp tempura ($18), albacore crispy onion ($30), shrimp tempura cut roll ($15), California roll ($11), and citrus roll ($24). One dish was better than the next - hard to choose which was my favorite (though next time I will pass on the California roll and the albacore crispy onion). Presentation of the dishes was also excellent (see the photos). Regina, our server, was very welcoming and friendly. Service was outstanding throughout the evening. Excellent choice for a celebration meal.
I've been wanting to try Yume since they first opened, but then I found out I was pregnant -- and now that the baby's here, all I've been craving is sushi! We finally made it out for a date night, and I'm so glad we did. The vibe at Yume is intimate, contemporary, and romantic -- perfect for a date night. They offer three seating options: the lounge, table in their main area, and the sushi bar. We initially were offered a table in the lounge, but luckily when they texted us, a table became available in their main area. Our server was so kind and walked us through the menu, pointing out some of their most popular dishes. We started with the creamy rock shrimp tempura, truffle edamame, and sashimi salad -- all absolutely delicious and a great way to kick off the meal. For our mains, we had the cilantro roll, citrus roll, Yume roll, spicy tuna hand rolls, and a few pieces of sushi. Personally, I thought the rolls really stood out -- especially the Yume and citrus rolls, both very flavorful. The nigiri was good, but it didn't quite have that "wow" factor I've experienced elsewhere in the Valley. I'm giving Yume 4 out of 5 stars because of the nigiri and also it took some time for our items to come out even though they weren't that packed. Still, everything else was spot on and I'd definitely order the same appetizers and rolls. Next time I want to make reservation for the sushi bar and try a few other items on their menu. Friendly tip, make a reservation ahead of time! We waited about 30 minutes on a Sunday night without one.
My girlfriend and I finished shopping at the Westfield Mall and was looking for a quick bite near by. Yume happened to be the best 15 minute drive after some good retail therapy! Hosts were so kind and seated us at the bar. Bar staffs were fun, talkative and great with recommendations from their other helpful worker-friends. Dark ambiance but fit the vibe of a good evening food takeoff. We definitely will go next time while watching the chef cook in front of us next time with reservations. Its not every day, week, month, year or decade I can safely claim that.... this is the best sushi I've ever eaten, but this IS that time. Having been to the studio city location and enjoying, it's no contest in terms of parking ease (just $7 valet, so $10 LOL) diverse, creative menu items, roominess (at least twice the size here), still a few open tables at all times to enjoy without super cramped environment and just generally blew the doors off pretty much any other sushi joint near or far. Started with the Exclusive menu...not to me (I wish) but a smaller paper menu with specials. The FatherKels Roll, my goodness, what a start. (Weird name comes from, as my son told me, some Instagram chick or something, the usual nonsense.) I couldn't care less if it was named the Long Island Lolita Roll, it was literally the pinnacle of rolls, the Mt Everest if you will of rolls. Then ordered a bunch of rolls from Yellowtail Cilantro, Green Dragon, Citrus, were all one better than the other. Super melt-in-your-mouth, good fish ratio, immaculate sauce parings and fusions harmoniously dancing in your mouth as your tastebuds get orgasmisized to oblivion. You'd think something as simple as a mushroom soup wouldn't warrant any praise...NOT HERE. What a soup, one of the best I've ever had. (Please get this). Everything we tried ranged from A to A+, and the bonus kicker, they have a Yuzu, yes YUZU sauce bottle on the table. Good luck finding that anywhere in the country without begging for it like a little bitch HAHAHAAAA Even the wasabi was so fresh and course ground, I mean just every box was checked and boxes you didn't even know ever existed. Gil, a slick cool dude/manager came to ask how our meal was and complimented our family and ordering taste, nice touch. Needless to say, one and never done; will be hard-pressed to eat sushi anywhere else again...yes I'm not joking. It's not cheap, blew 90 bucks a person all-in but worth every dollar plus interest. read more

Yume is so good! The best sushi place in LA! Love the Calabasas location because it has the amazing drinks there. There's a manager who served me at Studio City location then got moved as an anger to Calabasas. Absolutely amazing human! A bit pricey, but the restaurant is cute and such a vibe. Yume sushi is an experience! The restaurant is gorgeous first of all. Modern decor, beautiful furniture, wallpaper, bathroom, tables, plating. All of it. The food is amazing. And I mean delicious melt in your mouth. The drinks? Forget about it. It's crafted to perfection. This place is perfect for date night or even celebration dinners. read more
Tried this out as an alternative to Shibuya, since Yume takes reservations, but felt it was just alright and Shibuya is definitely better. Come here if you want a modern / chic ambience and a nice cocktail menu or to hangout in a larger group. The few apps we tried were not good: corn tempura was super dense, & the mushroom toban-yaki's sauce was super salty and it was an expensive dish for what it was. Fish for the nigiri felt like smaller slices compared to other places. A couple items we enjoyed: seared toro, kanpachi, engawa. Scallops were definitely smaller here. Kinmedai was ok but the threadfin bream was not good, had a fishy smell and taste. Also not a fan of the kisu, which had like no flavor. Sweet shrimp nigiri was good but the fried heads came out super greasy and unpleasantly smelly! Service was good in the first half of the meal, then later on it was hard to find our server. They did mess up a couple of our orders (wrong number of nigiri). Took a really long time to find her to correct a mistake on our bill. I probably would not come back here again. read more

I went here with my girlfriend to celebrate a birthday together and an anniversary. The exp was not what we expected. Host acknowledged bday and said to us they would do something special. Nothing ever came which was weir. However, let's talk about the food. As someone who has been to Japan and eaten every sushi spot in the valley I have a decent understanding of what fish should taste like. The abundance of wasabi they put on every piece was insane. I could not even taste anything but at least my sinuses got cleared lol. They even put so much wasabi on the wagyu pieces we ordered that when I scraped it off it still tasted like pure wasabi. I feel you should let guests know and ask if they even want any wasabi to avoid this. We got two carpaccios yellowtail and white fish with truffle. Yellowtail was not bad but pieces were super thick so ending taste was always a bit fishy. The white fish truffle was a 0/10. The presentation of food and ambiance of the restaurant was actually nice so what a bummer the food was the part that disappointed... read more

My friends took me here for my birthday. The ambiance of the restaurant was very classy, clean and modern. Food was amazing. I really enjoyed the sea bass soup, Citrus Roll, Kama Toro, yellowtail belly, Japanese Uni, and as always the sweet shrimp with the heads deep fried. Food was really fresh and I was not disappointed with the meal. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable with the food they served. Service was excellent. read more
Wonderful dinner experience at the bar. Ate solo and enjoyed my food as well as the overall experience tremendously. The detail to the rolls and other offerings is precise and the drinks have the best floral and fruit add ons for the perfect polished touch. Yume is another great sushi option in Calabasas. The food and drinks here are incredible. I'm a big fan of the albacore sashimi with crispy onions, spicy tuna on crispy rice, and the spicy shrimp on crispy rice. The edamame is also deliciously spicy and flavorful. They also have an extensive cocktail list. I went with the Nokoribi, a smoky old fashioned which had a smoky aroma but not a smoky taste. The drink was well balanced. Yume has a swanky upscale yet casual vibe. It's a great spot for a date or hanging out with friends. The servers are really friendly and helpful with recommendations. Parking is limited, so you'll have to valet. read more

I'm pretty loyal to my usual sushi spots, but I'm so glad I tried this place out! Firstly, the space is gorgeous with a full bar, very open with plenty of seating and room to enjoy your sushi without having to sit in a crammed or confined space. The quality here is also great with innovative takes on presenting their food. Every bite feels thoughtfully crafted, balancing creativity with purity. Some of my favorite bites so far include the Kanpachi special with Japanese peaches, Barracuda nigiri, Hokkaido scallops, Albacore sashimi with Kogashi butter soy, red snapper with fresh truffles, Wagyu skewers, and the Yellowtail cilantro roll... but I'm still exploring the menu! I also love the Taru cocktail, which is their take on a Japanese gin Negroni. Highly recommend Yume Sushi for anyone who wants an elevated experience! Can't wait to come back! read more
Calabasas dining has just been elevated! As a longtime fan of Yume in Studio City, I was initially skeptical that this new Calabasas location could live up to the high standards of the original. Thankfully not only did it meet my expectations, it surpassed them. I ordered all my favorite dishes from the Studio City location and each arrived at an even higher level of presentation, flavor, and quality. My must try items include the avocado truffle crispy toast, halibut sashimi, kanpachi sashimi with miso, albacore sashimi with kogashi butter soy, red snapper sashimi, and the seared salmon with truffle sushi and citrus roll. While the sashimi portions are not overly generous, the freshness, precision of the cut, and overall quality more than make up for it. I also appreciate that the sushi and rolls have a smaller rice to fish ratio.... which is exactly the way I like it. The new space is beautiful, spacious and elegantly designed, located right in the heart of Calabasas bustling shopping and dining district. The host was warm and welcoming, though the service staff still has some room for improvement in attentveness and friendliness. Hopefully with time, the service will match the excellence of the food and ambiance. Overall, Yume Calabasas is a stunning addition to the city's dinning scene and well worth a visit for any sushi lover. read more
