The worst sushi experience of my life. Horrible quality. Rude owner. Hot and stuffy with sticky tables. My son and I were in the area for a doctor's appointment so we decided to get a sushi lunch at Yumi. We ordered two rolls, a cucumber salad and a miso soup. I ordered a roll I always order at every sushi restaurant I go to...the one with like 5-6 fish inside, wrapped in cucumber on the outside. Different restaurants call it different things but here they call it the "Hawaiian Roll". The little picture on the menu looked good...solid fish! When it arrived, it was two tiny slivers of fish and about a pound of imitation crab wrapped in cucumber sliced into 6 large pieces! It was 80% FAKE CRAB! For $16.99?? I wish I took a photo. It didn't look appetizing but I tried it and ended up spitting it out into my napkin, which I've never done before in my life! I thought I was going to be sick. My son also tried it and wasn't a fan. I then dissected a third piece to just eat the slivers of actual fish and the outer cucumber and left a pile of the nasty fake crab. Our sever came over and I asked her if it was fake crab and she said yes. I told her I was so sorry and I didn't know there would be crab in the roll, (let alone 80% imitation crab) and I cannot eat imitation crab meat. She took the dish away. When she brought the bill, the roll was still on there. She said we ate more than half the roll, which we didn't! I left piles of imitation crab on the plate along with three huge pieces. I asked her if there was something we could do. This is when the owner came out from the back, with his arms outstretched aggressively, staring at me and yelling and approached my table with my 12 year old son sitting there!! He was verbally abusive, yelled over me, interrupted me and I hope that the nice server finds better people to work for. read more

Seems like the only sushi restaurant open in Fallbrook on a Monday night, so that was a PLUS. Only one waitress and she was overwhelmed. But when she did make it to your table, service was great and she was on top of things. Prices were reasonable and the food was not bad. OMG. I am embarrassed for them! They are so disgusting! How do I give zero stars? I ordered $100 of food for two people because the good sushi in Fallbrook was closed for the night. My wife was craving so I caved. We are both heavy wasabi users. I specifically said that the most important part of the $100 order was a golf ball size of wasabi. I arrived and the order was ready on time. I opened the order and saw that there was effectively zero wasabi. I informed the nice lady that I ordered a golf ball size wasabi. She said that's $10 extra! I said to keep the sushi as we can't eat it without wasabi. The owner did come out after a psycho customer went nutz. He gave me some wasabi. I paid. Bento box which was often used in Japan is created here at Yumi Sushi but in small carry home items if you are not going to stay and eat in this small cozy, clean, friendly place! The prices are clearly listed in the menu and on the chalk board of daily prices... But to eat it hot it is necessary to say here and eat it as it is served fresh and hot! I look forward to stopping by at least once a week, but never on Tuesday as they get to stay home one day per week! Quality and cleanliness are top priority. Their customer service is on point. Everything is perfection. I come here regularly. At least once a week. Sometimes two or three. OMG The sesame chicken appetizer look like what you would be served after the main chicken had been cooked up and all the leftovers were served to you. Really wanted to support the new owners, but sadly we were very disappointed both times we dined here. The first time the crabmeat jalapeños were half the size and the sashimi was just ok. The second time the crabmeat jalapeños had literally a 1/4 inch sliver of jalapeño and just as small as the first time. Spicy garlic edemame were neither garlicky nor spicy and overall had no taste. My wife went to pick up the order 20 minutes after the pick-up time and they couldn't even find it. A few people ahead of her had been waiting over 40 minutes beyond their wait time. As a small business owner, I get that things sometimes happen, but they should have accepted responsibility and at least offered a discount or even apologized for their mistake. This was supposed to be me daughter's birthday dinner and now it's turned out to be a disaster. Unfortunate - they used to be very good. FOLLOW UP: We had an additional issue with our order and got profound and earnest apologies. They also comped the edamame, which, while not much, was a nice gesture. From the moment we walked in till we had a server greet us was about 15 minutes. Keep in mind there are 4/5 total tables and only one other person was in there eating. The soda was canned and it was flat???? No idea how they store there cans but there has to be a better way because it tasted like it was sitting under a heat source. The food was atrocious. It was flash frozen. Hard on the outside but ice cold like Antarctica on the inside. 7/11 sushi is probably better than this place. Another person was eating also and she complained that the salmon smelled and looked brown! After I had told the server what had happened with our food he told me to "keep it down" as other people were walking in. Like he knows that this place is disgusting. Do not come to this nasty place. 55$ wasted. If there were negative stars they'd have the best rating. we will never return and please stay away. Unless you want to throw up in the parking lot. Yama sushi is usually our go to down the road but they were closed for the day and figured we would give this place a shot and like i don't understand how in the world food could taste this bad. read more

Not sure yet about this place. Ordered a roll for lunch to try and picked it up to go. When I got there, there was nobody there at the lunch hour and I paid by card. The woman at the front took my card around to the back office and was there for a few minutes and then returned with my receipt. I will be closely monitoring my bank statements just to make sure everything is fine. Every other restaurant I've been to they run the card right there. So other than that the sushi is good, but I was a little bit sketched out with the payment process. We will see. read more

Omg omg omg!!!!! I had no idea that Fallbrook had another Sushi place and how much I had been missing out. My fiancé and I got their tempura mixed bento, shrimp shumai, and two dragon rolls. The tempura was super light and crispy/crunchy that my fiancé almost eat all by himself because tempura is his weakness and I admit was binge worthy. The dragon roll has unagi which is eel and it was cooked to perfection, the skin had a tinge of crispiness but also that wonderful slightly gelatinous mouth feel. It wasn't drowned in sauce which you could fully enjoy the flavor of the fish and shrimp in the roll. We will definitely keep coming back! read more

Decided to try out this place since it's new in town. I went in super hungry, so I ordered a lot!! I ordered the jalapeño poppers, baked muscles, Superman roll and Alaskan roll. My partner ordered the special nigiri sampler and the fatty yellow tail sushi. I throughly enjoyed everything I ate! Only minor complaints - I wish my muscles were warmer and the Superman roll was cut into smaller slices. When biting into the Superman roll, the tuna completely came out because my teeth couldn't bite clean through due to the grains (slightly stringy if that makes sense?). My partner was not satisfied with 3 of his 5 pieces of nigiri and did not like the fatty yellow tail sushi. I tasted the fatty yellow tail and enjoyed it. In the restaurants defense, he is a rather picky eater. The sampler comes with sauces and toppings on them, which is not listed on the menu. As you can imagine, someone who is picky would be frustrated with this. His last complaint was that the rice was not "sticky enough" and fell apart very easily. I noticed this as well with my rolls but wasn't as bothered by it. I can see how the rice falling apart easily would defeat the purpose of getting nigiri and should have gotten sashimi instead. Service was great - kind of hard to have bad service when the dining area is so small. I am not sure I would go with a large party or any party more than 4 to be honest. It's more of a small, intimate type of setting due to the size of the dining area. read more
