I had breakfast from Yummies this morning. You can sit in or you can take your food out. I had grits, eggs, chicken sausage, salmon croquet, pancakes, and roasted potatoes. Everything was delicious. The roasted potatoes had the right amount of green peppers, and onions, and they were seasoned just right. The pancakes were fluffy with a light sweet taste to them. The grits were on point. I tasted some of my daughters shrimp and grits and it was awesome! I wanted to switch plates after I tasted her food but I'll get that the next time. I was able to eat most of my food but not all because there was so much which is a great thing. I have some leftover roasted potatoes and pancakes which I will eat tomorrow for breakfast. I would definitely go back to Yummies and I will recommend it to others as well. read more

I got the French toast breakfast. The grits were thick and creamy like they should be. Eggs were scrambled with perfection and the French toast was better than any restaurant I've tried. If you like French toast you will love theirs hands down. I'm happy to see a black owned restaurant not compromising on their cooking. You may have a little wait but it's worth waiting for. My first and last visit. This Yelp review is about the lack of customer service and rude discussion with the presumed owner/manager. On this day I wanted a dine in experience. Yummies appeared to be that type of restaurant. As I waited for the delivery of my food, the manager invited two businessmen and proceeded to have a business meeting in was shot to where I was seated. I stood up to move my meal to a quieter location. Noticing my move he questioned why. I explained that I didn't want to that type of noisy dining experience. I was reading and simply wanted to enjoy my meal quietly. The restaurant was empty so I moved. He took offense and defensively and exclaimed "this is my restaurant and I can do what I want, you can't tell me how to run this restaurant!" Wow! All of that attitude because I changed my seat. In so many words he told me I could leave and not to come back. SMH, I requested a refund and it was given. I'm appalled at this behavior. So very unprofessional and completely unnecessary. My intention was to support a Black restaurant in my community. This happened so quickly I only had a chance to take one bite of my breakfast. I will not ever return there. The perfect local Southern food spot! I was in the area for work and wanted a good, hot breakfast. Not a biscuit or quick drive thru, but an actual meal. I found this spot. Everyone was very friendly from the moment I walked in. It was clean and spacious. There's plenty of parking. And you can get your food to go or dine in. They serve breakfast until 11:30AM. I got the Jazz special (pancakes, eggs, grits instead of hash browns, salmon croquettes, and bacon) with a drink. $12 total. It was SO good. The salmon croquette is exactly what I wanted. Meaty with a good crust. The grits were creamy and not too salty. The pancakes were SO fluffy. 5/5 easily. I'd definitely come back for lunch or dinner. This is like a hometown spot. I really enjoy the food here. Most of the time, I order breakfast and I get the shrimp and grits and omg it is so good! It's really filling as well. I only wish they gave another piece of toast and more drink options. They used to have a hot bar before the pandemic and that was really good. I hope they bring that back or start to offer that type of food more often. I prefer to call in, sometimes there's a long wait if you go in. This is a new family owned restaurant in the community. The family who owns the restaurant are long time residents of Riverdale and are committed to bringing healthy, delicious food options to the area. On my visit I had the seafood lasagna, spaghetti, and my boyfriend had the chicken wrap. You can tell that everything was made with LOVE! The seafood lasagna is so creamy and rich and full of shrimp and scallops. The spaghetti tastes homemade (because it is!)and it is very delicious. My boyfriend loved the chicken wrap- he said he could tell that all of the ingredients are really fresh and the chicken was really well seasoned. The restaurant is in a great location and you can tell that they took a lot of time to design the layout. The ambiance is really nice- quality, on trend tables and chairs and overall it has a really nice vibe. You should check it out! read more

Stopped in yesterday for breakfast. I had the Yummies Special (pancake,bacon(3), eggs(2) and grits with added cheese in both for $9. You can get sausage instead of bacon. A bargain. The food was on point. Epecially the cheese grits. It's a nice and clean atmosphere with chilled music playing in the background. The restrooms were very clean "I hate a filthy restroom at a eating establishment". I talked to the owner who was very nice along with all of the staff. I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures. Came with my Babe. We both had the Seafood Pasta and Side Salad (custom from the salad bar). We shared the Key Lime and Strawberry cake. The Seafood Pasta was made fresh and was very good. The only thing missing was freshly grated Parmesan Cheese on top. It did come with a delicious piece of Garlic Toast. This is a new Family owned restaurant with AMAZING customer service. Good homemade food + great hospitality = A WINNER! I will definitely return. My husband and I are definitely "Foodies", and since we are empty nesters we eat out 4-6 times per week. He sent me an IG post of some grilled salmon and an Impossible Philly from Yummies Cafe yesterday and it looked so good we decided to try them out (the same day). Not many places offer Impossible as a Philly cheese steak so I was excited. I am very picky and was a little apprehensive since we'd never eaten here before so I suggested we order 1 sandwich & share it. We ordered the Philly with fries and I was anxious to delve in once our food was delivered to the table. I was so anxious in fact that I didn't even think to take any pictures. We have had Impossible burgers from almost every place that offers them in and around the city and have had the Philly's from the few places that we know of that offers them, including Grant Park Market and Slutty Vegan. Let me just say that this was THE BEST Impossible ANYTHING that I've had from anywhere. I usually request my "meat" be cooked a little longer to make sure it's not undercooked because while this is not actually meat I have had it from other places where it was pink or red once broken open and even when I did eat meat I always ate it well done. In requesting this, sometimes it will be over cooked to the point that it's crispy. You can tell when the chef or cook is familiar with this product and knows how to cook it. The meat was seasoned well, tender and juicy. The bread was oh so soft and all the toppings (onions, peppers, etc) were grilled to perfection. The French fries were hot & fresh and were fried to a beautiful golden color; they were crisp on the outside & soft on the inside. One of my biggest pet peeves is fries that are fried too hard. The cheesesteak was SO good that I commented on now how I wished we had ordered 2, 1 for each of us so my husband asked if I wanted another 1 for dinner and of course I said yes. The gentleman that cooked our sandwich had left the grill area but was still in the restaurant so I approached him & confirmed that he was in fact the person that prepared our food. I complimented him on the food and told him how we eat Impossible everything from everywhere and that this was the best we've had to date. This man was getting off work and was about to leave but he overheard us talking about getting another one and asked us if we wanted him to make it. Do you know he went and washed his hands and got right on it. This time I DID take a picture but it was just the sandwich, no fries because I was full and it was for later so of course they would've been cold by the time I got ready to eat. They only have Salmon on Friday's so my husband ended up ordering the Jerk Fettuccini Alfredo (they do offer this with chicken but we're Pescatarian so he ordered it with no meat). Even though his food was for later too, he finished it off before I thought to take any pictures. I did taste it though; DELICIOUS!!! It was really spicy. We use Walkerswood MILD seasoning when we cook so I would say the pasta is equivalent to that of their spicy version (which I have had in the past). I do have 2 regrets regarding this place, 1-that we just found out about it and 2-it's a good little ways from my house, otherwise; I'd definitely be there at least 3 times a week. As it is, I will add this gem of a spot as a weekly stop. Let me back up to add a 1st Impression outlook; we were pleasantly surprised by the sheer size, which led way to ample, well thought out seating including regular height, as well as high top table & chair sets. The temperature was even at a comfortable setting. Most restaurants are unusually cold or uncomfortably warm. There was even music playing at a decent level and a large flat screen in place but was not playing at the time. The staff was so courteous and professional, from the welcome we received when we walked in to the "thank you" for coming and the invite to come back in the future. I read in another review that this place is owned & operated by a family local to the Riverdale area. Based on our observation of the staff while we were there, I can see that being the case. They all seemed cheerful and happy and were laughing, joking and singing amongst themselves (all while maintaining professionalism might I add). Again, I can't wait to try several other menu items. Kudos to whoever came up with the concept & menu of this establishment. read more

My son & I found Yummies on a Monday afternoon for a quick lunch before heading to the airport. The place is bright and clean, and coincidentally we found out that the owners are from our hometown! The customer service was friendly, and the chef was even so kind as to make me one pancake even though it was lunchtime. The pancake was fluffy and delicious. Mmmmm this place is like going to your Mama's or auntie house for some real breakfast. Today was my first time eating at Yummies and I will definitely be back. First off plenty of parking on the strip mall at the corner of hwy 85 and hwy 138. Used to be Cici's Pizza . Walked in place is clean. People were in there dining in. The young lady at the register my receipt says name Christen was very friendly and helped me decide what to order. I had the Jaz's special which had a salmon croquette , potatoes, cheese eggs, and bacon ! So good! Then I got a side of grits. Oh it also came with pancakes. Everything was hot, fresh, well seasoned and simply delicious. I'm glad I found this place. When I was there , amongst some of the patrons were a group of older gentleman about my age enjoying conversation and eating . They were easy on the eye lol. Anyway! I shall be back. Just wow! We had the sweetest lady bring us an info card on this company so we thought we would support a local business and purchase a brunch for our office. We were invoiced and everything. Did this 2 weeks in advance. ... 15 minutes before the event, I call, where is the caterer? No one knew we had this order for 25 people.
