it was time for a "Foodie pit stop" - the name is fitting Yummy Bowl. It would really be hard to mess up the order since I picked all the vegetables, protein, starch for myself and sauces and seasoning. The service is great very attentive. The crab ragoons are homemade and really good. They have a full menu that you can order off of including sushi, salads, and entrées. I just wanted to pick my own ingredients and watch it being cooked on the big round flat top grill. Great value for the service and meal $12.95 for the bowl you fill up and they cook for you. It's hard to mess this up when you "make your bowl" yourself. When you walk in there is a foyer with a claw machine for the kids. Immediately in the main restaurant, there is a host stand with the sushi bar to the right. They serve lunch until 3pm Mon-Fri. All day dinner Saturday, Sunday and holidays. There's always plenty of big booths or tables. I have been during different times of the day and never had to wait for a table. You have the option to order sushi, appetizers, etc from the menu or you can order a "make your own" yummy bowl. They give you a bowl that you fill out with your name, table number and the type of rice you want. Next you get in line to place all of your desired veggies, meats, sauces and seasonings. Whatever you can fit in the bowl. I have seen people pile up pretty high. I always have leftovers, they do accommodate allergies if you have any and it's pretty affordable with under $20 per person. The wine is pretty good too. They also have saki and some desserts. You can take home your make your own bowl. You have the option of an "all you can eat bowl" but you cannot take any leftovers home for that selection. The bathrooms are clean and the staff is always friendly. The Yummy Bowl was an expected surprise. The food was very good with an overwhelming amount of Asian options on the menu. The restaurant is new... revamped in an older strip mall. I found myself confused during my first visit, but our server, Yuki, was kind and walked us through the menu options for lunch. They specialize in Mongolian style stir fry. They provide you with a bowl that you fill from a buffet of fresh ingredients that include starch, veggies, meats and sauces. Lunch is $11.99 and dinner is $13.99. You fill your bowl and then they fry it on a huge grill. I was a little apprehensive about the raw ingredients on the buffet, so opted for a selection from the menu. I've been craving some good udon so ordered Udon with Beef from the menu. The bowl came out fairly quickly. The beef (steak) was absolutely delicious... tender with a teriyaki sauce and piping hot. The sauce had soaked into the noodles too. It was so good. The portion was huge so I took half of it home. They also make sushi and have lunch features. My husband had a 2-roll lunch portion sushi for $8.99. The sushi comes with soup or salad. The Miso Soup is some of the best that I have tasted. He picked the Spicy Salmon Roll and the Baston Roll. The Baston Roll was a winner with the lettuce providing a crispy freshness. The rolls are on the smaller side, but perfect for lunch. Yuki, our server was attentive, kept water full, checked on us regularly with a big smile. The restaurant is clean with a lot of seating in booths or tables. I saw at least on tv up. The restrooms are clean. Plenty of parking outside. They do have a small selection of beer and wine. I'm giving it 5 stars for great, fresh food and wonderful service. Thanks to Katherine A's review I now know of this location. I had thought there were only two but after a Yelp search I have discovered there are at least five around the Indy metro area. This is my third different Yummy Bowl location I've tried so far. The dining room is about the same size as the other locations I've been to in Avon and Greenwood. Okay after doing this four times now I have a couple of suggestions for the readers of this review. Suggestion One is don't fill up your bowl. In my opinion, this food tastes much better eaten on the premises. Leftovers reheated at home just don't taste the same. Suggestion Two: Keep it simple. Stay with a few of your favorites. Don't put everything in your bowl. I think it tastes better when the number of ingredients is less than ten. Today I had only six ingredients plus the rice. I visited my endocrinologist today and he gave me my usual diet lecture about good vs bad foods. So today I tried Yummy Bowl's brown rice. I couldn't really tell any difference from the fried rice. I came here at 2:45 and they weren't crowded at all so service was fast and correct. read more

Not all that yummy. Good news first. When it was delivered it was nice and hot. I was very excited to try it.. on top there was a fair amount of steak a bunch of broccoli, barely even crunchy, three or so slices of carrots, maybe two full sliced mushrooms and none of the baby corn that I paid extra for. The flavor on the Mongolian cooking sauce was not discernible at all... despite the fact that I ordered it for both of the cooking sauces. It was very under seasoned. I wound up mixing soy sauce with the yum yum sauce just to impart some flavor. If I ever have this again, it will definitely not be for delivery. I want to be there to make sure they put enough veggies in. I can't quibble too much with the price, but I feel like I didn't get what I paid for as far as the veggies go, especially when you factor in the up charge. I used Amazon Prime so I did not have to pay a delivery fee. If I had to pay that on top of the tip and taxes this would have cost almost $10 more. As it was, I paid $21. For what this restaurant is it's worth 5 stars. It's a buffet style layout where you put food in a bowl and they cook it for you (hence the name). The lunch bowl is $11.99 and the dinner bowl is $13.99. For $11.99 I got shrimp, steak, crab, corn, onion, and friend rice with yum yum, thai chili, and teriyaki sauce. You can also pick your own seasoning as well while they cook it right in front of you. The buffet has plenty of options and for such a great price. The food was sweet, savory, and delicious. For $11.99 I easily got 2 meals out of it. The service was excellent she didn't speak much English but was always quick and efficient when it came to cleaning off our table and refilling our drinks. You can order a la cart or go up to the "buffet" where you pick your ingredients for your bowl. They have to-go options that are pre fabbed or you can get it to go at the buffet as well--this is priced per pound and actually ended up being cheaper for us than the pre made bowls. Visited at 2:30pm on a Tuesday for a late lunch. Was hesitant since it wasn't a peak time for a place like this. BOY WAS I WRONG! I was greeted with a very friendly staff. My server explained everything since it was my first time. The food line was clean and super fresh, the selections were plentiful. Went to Yummy Bowl on West 86th St for a late lunch and found out that it's cheaper before 3:00. We hadn't been before but I had heard that it's really good. We were rookies as to how it works so asked some nearby customers how to navigate the menu and what they'd recommend. They were very helpful. A server takes your drink order then brings you a bowl and card where you check your choice of rice: brown, white or fried, add your name and table number. My husband and I went through the line with our bowls and card to choose our veggies-a good variety, meats-also good choices, spices/salt/pepper , and then the sauces of which you get 2 of about 6 or so choices. There are about 5 or 6 grilling chefs who take your bowl of raw ingredients and rice choice, table & name card then you go back to your table to wait for your grilled/finished meal. They have a very extensive menu in addition to the bowl ingredients with sushi, sashimi, appetizers and wine, beer and Pepsi brand soft drinks, tea (iced and hot).Larger bowls came back to us in under 10 minutes piping hot and so deliciously and perfectly prepared! It was a fun experience and I ate my entire bowl of chicken, rice and vegetables while my husband got a takeout container for his shrimp&chicken-veggies leftovers. A lot of people were walking out with to go boxes, perfect for a second meal at home! There were a lot of people coming in as afternoon diners, it must get very busy at dinner time.
