fried fish and shrimp
Melissa Z.

This place is located near Southpark Mall and has lots of seating inside. It's a casual place with average prices for seafood boils. We got a fried fish and shrimp platter and a crab boil. We thought the crab boil could've had more seasoning and butter like other places do. We didn't enjoy things like the boiled eggs due to the lack of seasoning. The fried fish platter was okay. The shrimp was better than the fish. Our server was very friendly and the food came out quick though.

I had an amazing time at yummy crab, the dj was on point, the bartender (DJ) was on point and very attentive, the food was amazing. I have no complaints. The only thing I will say was that there was a big weight, but it was a Saturday night and it is tax season so I can't even blame them. I will be back!

I've walked in on two occasions on a casual slow Tuesday afternoon and a busy house on a Saturday night after Black Friday. The service was quick and friendly, my mom forgot her order a couple of times and the server was patient and friendly. The food does not disappoint as well as neither does the music. Most sports channels are put on the far back side of the location. Juicy and plentiful to share, it was 4 of us and we got 3 bags of the letter B.

The service was mediocre, and the ambience wasn't anything to scream about as there were wet floor cones all over. I must say, however, the food was amazing! I had the catfish basket. All food came out fresh and hot. I would visit again.

We are on the hunt to find the best seafood boil in Charlotte. This was our first time at the Yummy Crab and we ordered the monday special which was snow crab and shrimp and I added sausage. It was all very good and the sauce was amazing. I just feel like the seafood could have been fresher but we are in Charlotte NC. I've had better boils but this is up there on the list!

Got the shrimp head on and Dungeness crab and it was delish! Only half a crab for the price was a bit less than I expected for a LB but the taste made up for it! Waiter was nice and had quick service. They have a full bar, TVs and the music playing is on point. It's a go to seafood boil spot.

I went to Yummy Crab for dinner on a Tuesday and really enjoyed my experience! From the food to the service, to the ambience, everything was great! I ordered Seafood Combo E which included lobster, crab legs, shrimp, sausage, egg, potatoes and corn. I also tried the seafood bread which was good. The drinks were strong and they have $5 lemon drops everyday! If you go, ask for Zaria because her service was great!

Sometimes with these boils the sauce is very SALTY....not this spot!! Great mix of seasoning and spice! Price was good. Only complaint is some of the shrimp seemed soft. Otherwise this was a great way to end my quick visit to Charlotte

Upon arrival, we curated a playlist of our favorite tunes on the Jukebox, accompanied by orders of drinks and a Fried Calamari appetizer. Opting for variety, we chose the shrimp, snow-crab, and black mussel combo shaker bag along with a fried shrimp basket. Notably, one female patron was inspired to rise from her seat and dance briefly as our selected music played, creating a convivial atmosphere that likely enhanced the experience for all Mother's Day attendees. The cuisine was outstanding, and the boiled seafood shaker bags came with a selection of seasonings and spice levels, though I don't recall ours specifically. The seafood in the shaker bag was cooked to perfection, and the fried seafood was both tasty and crispy. If I were to offer a suggestion, the corn on the cob in the shaker bag might have benefited from slightly less cooking time. We emptied the bag, save for the juices, and even ordered hush puppies to enjoy with the remaining broth. Our server was exceptional, providing unhurried service, keeping our beverages replenished, and ensuring an overall memorable Mother's Day experience.

I literally was able to eat off the plate three times. You can literally share the plate with someone! It's not overpriced and everything was cooked fresh. I'm not even a fan of coleslaw and it was actually pretty good. 10 out of 10. I highly recommend. We did have a wait, they were busy but it was all worth it. The staff were nice and friendly!! They even took my cake to the back until we were ready for it so we could have more room on the table! I already can't wait to go back!

I went with one of the fried platters, featuring catfish, scallops, and clam strips. It was way too much for me to finish and I ended up taking most of it home. It was all delicious, but I'll bet I can make at least two more meals out of it. Oh, and the hushpuppies are to die for. The best hushpuppies I've gotten anywhere - and the honey "butter" completes the experience. It's a popular place. Always crowded. But it's definitely one of the better places to eat in the greater Charlotte area.

As a girl born in Texas, a really good chicken fried steak is practically part of my DNA. It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.

They also had nice seating options either table or booth options. I liked the lively Saturday Night music vibes in the background and had a couple of huge TVs screens along the walls, stationed on a sports channel to pass the time. Although the wait was a bit too long waiting for our food, it was well worth the wait! Hubby's choice of Grilled Octopus arrived hot and was charred to perfection! It had a somewhat creamy spicy sauce over it, while it paired deliciously with the rice and fried yuka fries. I LOVED the yuka fries! I had the Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche which was presented beautifully with cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocados. It had the perfect balance of acidity, seasoning, and spiciness. We enjoyed eating it by itself and with the tortilla chips, which we had for the table. ALL of the dishes were perfectly seasoned, not overly spicy or salty at all, which I'm very sensitive about!
