The sauce was excellent! Only complaint would be the corn. It did taste like it was old. I could have mis read the menu, but with a party of 3 there was an automatic gratuity added of 18%. Absolutely wonderful seafood boil with snow crab legs, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn. 1/2 pound of each. Very tasty, but peeling shrimp and cracking crab legs are a lot of work. I'd much rather use scissors than shell crackers. Less work and you can get more meat out of the shells. They should add scissors as an option. I ordered the Cajun sauce and asked for it very hot. My wife and I were traveling and we stopped in Charlotte for an overnight stay. We were in the mood for a seafood boil and out of all the restaurants that served seafood boils in the area we chose Crab Du Jour. BIG MISTAKE!!! We ordered two Shrimp and Snow Crab bag which DID NOT include an egg or sausage. We had to pay an additional charge to get them included. Which is something I'm not accustomed to in Austin but maybe it's a Charlotte thing. The service was cool but I had to ask for plastic wear because it wasn't initially included. Now let's get to the food. The shrimp still had the shells on them and they were hard as calculus to get off. The crab clusters were missing random legs in both of our bags. It's like they intentionally gave us the B grade clusters. The Du Jour sauce was tasteless. All the sauce pooled in the bottom of the bag and evaded the meat and potatoes. The corn was previously frozen and looked shriveled up. It tasted exactly like it looked. If you're in Charlotte and you're in the mood for a seafood... DO NOT COME HERE!!! I grabbed takeout here after a long work day. It was super quick with a dedicated takeout area. The food was good but not great. The crab legs seemed a little old. The meat was dry in a couple of the legs. Shrimp were a little rubbery. The flavor was great. But I was a little bummed by the quality. That aside, staff was nice. Prices were more than fair. This rating could've been higher, but, waiting as long as we did for someone to come to our table to get our drinks order set the tone. After drinks, everything did come out fast. I was glad to get crackers for each guest, because at some crab boil places you don't get any, and they act like it's odd to ask. The crab legs were pretty good, sauces were pretty oily, but flavorful. The corn and potatoes were really good as well. Hush puppies were just ok...and there were about 8, but they only have 1 honey butter. What's up with sweet hush puppies? I've only ever had savory ones, until moving to Charlotte and going to a crab boil restaurant. My husband enjoyed the steamed oysters as well as the shrimp. It was my husband's birthday, and they gave him fried cheesecake. He really enjoyed it, but ate it at home and I didn't get a picture. It appeared to be cheese cake wrapped in a dough and fried. The new Crab DuJour on the south side opened yesterday and we had to give them a try! My sister placed a togo order for 1/2lb shrimp and 1/2 lb snow crab add smoked sausages. The bag had a piece of corn on the cob and about 5 red potatoes. Overall we thought the sauce was oily. It had flavor but wasn't intense. There wasn't a lot of garlic and I had to swim thru oil to get to the seasoning. I'm glad we gave them a try but I wasn't impressed. Came here today (valentines day) and this place is packed!!! So glad I stopped by because it looked cool from the outside and is just as cool on the inside! I think my bartenders said they are Bre and Brooke and they are the sweetest nicest help I've had at a bar!! I've only ever eaten take-out but the quality and speed is consistently great. The fish sliders are delicious, they give generous sized filets and overall the freshness is on point. October 2021. What is up instafam - it's ya boy JT and we is back at it again. Mops and I came on a Friday evening - and occasionally, about 2 Fridays a month, there is an open mic/karaoke thing that goes on, which was pretty dope. Their music selection was pretty. Service was great and food came out quick quick. You'll see someone roaming the premises in a suit-ish, kinda decked out look - great, funny, engaging guy; that's the GM, Devin. He funny as hell - and so is the rest of the staff, upbeat and energetic to the music and just in general. As for good - we got the fried calamari, shrimp po boy and fried fish basket. Le calamari was good, but had a little bit more breading than I anticipated - regardless, they still had a good portion for their price. The shrimp po boy was great as well - however, I think only 4 shrimps is not enough.. it was still good tho, I probably won't order it again though, maybe try ordering extra/or asking them to add extras for a bit more $$... the shrimp are pretty good sized though.. ugh your call - it's good though. Fish basket was good though, super crispy. They have a selection of either French fries or sweet potato fries that go with baskets/po boys - both which were really good. The food was very affordable and 3 dishes for us may have been a little too much imo, but their serving sizes are great. Shoutout to my waiter too - Rodrigo, awesome g. Will most definitely be coming back here and let more people know about it. Noted: I do see a lot of the reviews pertaining to the seafood boils, I have no experience trying any of those yet. We went here on a Sunday for dinner. With all the seafood boil restaurants popping up in Charlotte I wasn't impressed. The quantity wasn't worth the price and the seasoning sauce was just ok. Wow.. what a decadent seafood boil. I ordered the king crab boil and added a half pound of mussels and half pound of crawfish along with two boiled eggs. For the sauce I went with the du jour special sauce and it did everything except disappoint. The scrupulous preparation of the crab was demonstrated with each and every bite I consumed. According to my crabby little girl, this is the best "crab place" in the area. Being it is new to the Whitehall community, finally a place we can appreciate. The staff is very friendly and Kay B, our server, was the best. She literally wore a smile the whole time we were there. The food itself was good and the sauces/butters you can add to your boil is tasty. A tad salty but in a good way. I elected to go with the steamed oysters for starters. Followed by 1/2lb of crawfish and 1lb of Dungeness crablegs. You want to see some huge crawfish, come here. LoL Geez! I wanted to take a pic but of course my hands were buttery. The crab was warm and sweet, sauced in their house seasoned butter. Sensational! Will surely come back in a few weeks/months to see how they fare after getting settled into the community. I refuse to eat them and get sick do I decided not to. We were being rush to close the bill out, when we were still eating. We over heard the hostess tell another colleague we were be spiteful. The fish was good, next time I'd probably opt for raw Oysters over steamed w/a sauce but that's personal preference (the sauce had good flavor), and the crab cakes were decent. Wow wow wow. I am amazed. I have never enjoyed crab legs this much. I got the bag with snow crab legs, potatoes and corn. I'll admit I wasn't expecting too much from the online pictures. But when I started cracking those crab legs and tasted the mild cajun seasoning they came with, wow what a party in my mouth. Definitely not a first date place if you're trying to impress someone but I was with my hubby so he got to hear all the slurps and witness the mess. We saw that they were open so we thought we would give this restaurant a shot! So glad we did! Food was fabulous and service was outstanding. We were seated immediately. They did follow covid protocol. We had a few moments to look at our menu before our server Natkiyah came. She was very helpful and informative. She explained the menu and how it worked and what you could add and the combo options as well as levels of seasonings. My dinner partner order the option of 1/2 lb of crab legs and 1/2 lb shrimp with the garlic butter it came with potatoes and corn on the cob. I ordered the lunch portion of shrimp it also came with corn on the cob. I asked if mine could be cooked without seasoning and with garlic butter on the side. She was more than happy to accommodate. Natikiyah was diligent in making sure our drinks were full and made sure we had Bibs to save our clothes and plastic gloves if we chose to use them to keep our hands clean. We decided go all in...and wear the bibs but forgo the gloves and just get messy! Our meals came to the table in to large bubble bags completely steamed and filled with yumminess! The shrimp were fabulous! Large and Juicy! Perfectly cooked! The garlic butter had just a tiny bit of seasoning that was amazing Just what I wanted! My dinner partner Loved the crab legs!!! They were so juicy and the seasoning was perfect! She didn't mind the messy hands because it was finger licking good! The manager came around to check on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal and we made sure he knew we did. The price was decent for what you get and honestly it was more than I could eat and I had to take home my left overs. I was grateful to our server... who came to the table and explained how to heat the meal back up so it wouldn't over cook when I reheated my leftovers! ( loved the extra effort on her part!
