The food is good. It's exciting. There's a good variety of Chinese regional foods and the spicings vary from mild to hot, so every taste and mood is met. Appetizers -- including but not limited to crab Rangoon and beef triangles -- are delightful and certainly key the appetite for meat, poultry, and vegetable courses. Service is very professional. As I always pick-up, I've found orders are prepared with care, and ready when promised by the staff. It's a friendly and community-centric restaurant business. Sadly the food was subpar. I wanted to give them another shot since last time I got old rice and cold food. This time my rice was not cooked all the way leaving a starchy crunchy mush in my mouth... gross. Not quite as consistent as it used to be but still some of the best food around for the prices. Their sweetened crab rangoon are my favorite anywhere. I love the combination variety they give here. They are always so fast getting everything out. Every time I call in, it's never more than 15-20 minutes max. Do not go here if you want good food. I have always enjoyed Yummy House in Biddeford and assumed it would be the same or similar. Egg drop soup consisted of chicken broth and eggs, no veggies and no flavor. Crab rangoons had a very sweet taste, as if someone had used flavored cream cheese. They did not appear to be deep fried, and the filling was neither hot nor melted. In fact it still looked like it looks when you slice it off the brick of cream cheese. Without a doubt this was the worst food I have ever had to the point that after a few mouthfuls we threw it out with the exception of the egg rolls. The sweet and sour pork was all dough and totally raw inside with a piece of grey pork in the middle. The chow fun was so-so, but not good enough not to throw it in the garbage. The place is not fancy and has the atmosphere of a typical old school strip plaza Chinese takeout restaurant with a few tables and open kitchen. They also offer 17 Luncheon Specials ($4.95-$8.25) served until 4PM daily, 8 Combinations ($9.25) and Kid's Happy Box (served with soda). The prices seem a bit high for Chinese food, but the portions coming out were pretty generous. A group of folks were enjoying their lunches, a smorgasbord of food on the table. I decided to get takeout since the restaurant was pretty hot inside and it was in the mid 80s outside. I ordered the L5 ($5.25) Vegetable Lo Mein, Pork Fried Rice, & 4 Chicken Fingers and a can of Diet Pepsi ($1.25). The food was cooked to order fairly quickly and I enjoyed my lunch outside by my ride on a nice day. The food was very good and tasty. The vegetable lo mein had a good mix of vegetables (onion, carrots, sprouts, green peppers) in firm noodles. The fried rice (light colored) had tender and soft pork cubes. The chicken fingers were very crispy outside with tender boneless chicken inside. There was enough food left over for dinner. We became addicted to Yummy house the first time we moved to Shapleigh and tried it 7 years ago. Portion sizes are generous, the people there are extremely friendly and work very hard to get orders done on time even when they are overloaded with orders. We love the Pu-Pu platter, they have the best-tasting crab rangoons we've had (and we're very picky), and their lo-mein and fried rice is always loaded with the good stuff. The single drawback is that the dining area leaves room to be desired - but we don't go there to dine - it's primarily a take-out place, and money is clearly spent on the quality of the food over the quality of the ambience. I did a small take out order here yesterday. I got the boneless spare ribs and hot and sour soup. The spare ribs were good. They weren't too sweet or greasy. The soup was decent but I would have liked it a bit more on the sour side. All in all, Yummy House was good take out Chinese. Yesterday I tried Yummy House after my favorite local Chinese spot was closed for the weekend. I was bummed and craving Chinese, so the next closest place was Yummy House. I have heard of it before, but never tried their food. I looked up their menu online and decided to go with a Combo plate, C3. The restaurant itself was blah. The outside didn't stand out at all, and looked old. The inside was pretty much the same. Service was average. I got home and dug into my food. The portion size was quite large. So the taste test began. The fried rice was flavorless. It wasn't greasy which I appreciated, but it just didn't have any type of flavor at all. The pork spare ribs were very fatty and greasy. The flavor of them was kind of burnt. I tossed most of them. The beef teriyaki had a nice flavor, but the beef was extremely tough. The crab rangoons were pretty good, they were much sweeter than what I'm used to, but not bad. The chicken wings were also pretty good, but they too lacked any flavor. They tasted like they were just deep fried with no seasonings or sauce. I also got to try a egg roll from them (my dining partner's meal came with one and they aren't a fan of egg rolls). The egg roll tasted like one you'd buy from the frozen section at the grocery store. At the end of the meal, in which I ended up throwing away most of my meal, I decided once there was enough. It kills me to throw away food. But this food was just horrible. Save your time and money, and skip this place. If you are looking for great tasting Chinese food, with excellent service, check out Green Tea Restaurant in Sanford. Horrible service. In the past year, three times we've called ahead for our food order. You are NEVER given a number, nor do they take your name for the order. When we arrived to pick up our order, they ask you what you ordered, take payment and THEN proceed to make the food. This past Sunday, it happened again. However, this time, I called him out on it. I lived in Sanford for 11 years always went here. I am visiting and I wanted to treat the kids to luncheons and I am disappointed I was OVERCHARGED. I added up on the beyond menu prices I got $29 and when I got there $39. I compared the menu with the online there were a few increases but I will still over charged almost $10 and if I knew that I would've went to Egg Roll Cafe where the food is much better! :( read more

I live nearby and go here perhaps once every 6 weeks. The qulaity of the food is good to excellent. It's definitely a take-out place; the on-premesis dining is perhaps 8-10 tables along the path from the entrance to the counter and especially in winter gets a bit of drafts as people come and go through the enrty, which doesn't have a vestibule. My biggest criticism is that for take-out orders they often ignore minor reqeusts like "skip the duck sauce, but extra mustard". A solid "4" read more

Good size portions for your $$ but the food lacks love. Everything is very generic now. The rice used to be dark and full of onions, pork and all the other goodies, now it is light in color and light on all the other stuff. The egg rolls used to have shredded pork in them and cabbage and carrots and all kinds of good stuff, now it's just shredded cabbage and very blase. The beef teriyaki left something to be desired in flavor as did the pork strips. The pink sweet and sour sauce used to come with pineapple and cherries in it now there's no fruits and it seems to be watered down, it's not nearly as thick or delicious as it used to be. For a little more money much better quality food can be found down the street at the green tea. I particularly recommend the Tangerine crispy beef there! It is amazing and the portions are just as sizeable as yummy house. read more
