I am a fan- the previous chef from East Sushi in Scotch Plaza has opened his own restaurant in Marrazzo's shopping center, and I think this has been a wonderful addition to the Ewing restaurant line-up (which, trust me...could use a few additional players!) I love the rolls here, always fresh, and the seaweed salad is prepared perfectly, with swirls of daikon throughout for an addiitonal crunchy surprise. I have tried many of the noodle soups and curry dishes, and they are always fabulous. I appreciate the variety in the menu...from Japanese, to Vietnamese to some Thai options. This is a great way to introduce foods to a neighborhood with previously limited pan-Asian fare to choose from. There are plenty of non-raw items to enjoy, if you are not feeling ready for the sushi plunge. The only set-back, if you are looking for a certain j'ai no se quoi in your restaurant ambience...is that being this is a family owned establishment, the owner's children are usually there, and if it's slow...they can be found running around, maybe spoiling that romantic kid-free evening out you were hoping for. In all- I believe diners must approach this establishment with a reality-check, and a bit of openmindedness....NO, this is not your city-sushi joint, hi volume, unusual options tempting young 20-somethings to feel cool when tossing back raw fish....NO, this is not your west coast sushi which is always #1 in freshness and authenticity....this IS what it IS, a family-owned, small buisness Ewing, NJ attempt to bring new, high quality pan Asian fare to a neighborhood which could surely use a restaurnant make-over. I hope that diners continue to try Yummy Sushi, so that they may grow and invest in their menu and establishment. Update: Have to strongly disagree with Anja's review. We find that the sushi is quite good and stands up well with that you'd find in a 'big city'. I guess we all can't lead such cosmopolitan lives as Ms. M. though... New Japanese restaurant in the Marrazzo's shopping center in Ewing, close to TCNJ. Yummy has a very nice atmosphere, and they serve very delicious sushi. This is no surprise as Yummy's owner/sushi chef is the former main sushi chef from nearby East Sushi. Super friendly chef and staff, this is a family run restaurant. Good prices and fast, friendly service. Note: This is NOT related to the 'Yummy' restaurant in Hamilton, which I've heard so-so things about from friends and in reviews such as in Yelp. read more

I've been here many times over the past few years and at first I really hated going there. I remember having really slow service one time even though we were the only ones in the restaurant and the food being unspectacular. However, I've recently been coming more often and I'm happy to say that my opinions on this place have completely turned for the better. This speaks volumes for how good their sushi and some of their other food is. The prices on their special sushi rolls may seem a bit high (~$13), but the size of the sushi rolls are huge and are well worth the price. I recommend the New Moon and the Nemo, as these are two of my favorites. Other non-sushi things I items i have tried were the chicken katsu-don and the pho. They give you huge portions and are both quite delicious. This is a family run restaurant and as a family that probably spends all day at the restaurant, they have their kids around the restaurant doing their homework and occasionally taking order or ringing you up. This actually reminded me of myself as a kid, loitering around my parent's restaurant, getting in the way at times, so I didn't mind this one bit. Yummy Sushi is a small, family run business......actually I think the family might live in the back of the restaurant, but that's besides the point. We've been going to Yummy for weekday lunches for years now, and they never disappoint. Food is always good, and more than enough to fill you up. The chicken curry is actually my favorite, and as everyone else says, the Pho here is amazing. Pricing on sushi is a bit high in my mind, but it's very true that the size of the rolls they give you are HUGE. Most times one roll is enough to fill me up (and I'm a self proclaimed fat kid!). Decently good sushi that's reasonably priced, tasty Pho, and BYOB in a casual environment. What gives? One word answer: CHILDREN. Yes, I said it, the children. That is the only real drawback of this place. I am a huge fan of this restaurant! Service is always good and staff is always friendly. I am a huge fan of pho and need it every Sunday for my Sunday Scaries. I heard from word of mouth that this place had pho! I tried it out and I loved it. The bowl of pho is huge with lots of meat, noodles and broth. Now I know to share with my boyfriend instead. I love their specialty rolls, the dynamite and the sleeping beauty are my personal favorites. The summer rolls are... probably their weakness. They are very not good looking in presentation, needs lettuce, cilantro. Seems as though it's just noodles and shrimp and some bean sprouts. Wonderful sushi and Japanese food, even a few tasty Thai dishes. But the secret standout here is the Vietnamese food. I could live off their beef pho (and for a fluish week this past winter, I very nearly did). The summer rolls are fresh and light, perfectly layered in flavor. The spring rolls are a delight--just crisp enough and not at all greasy. Try the honey chicken or honey pork too. It may share a name with the overly sweet, often gloppy Chinese concoction, but this is pure Vietnamese heaven. The subtle flavors and perfectly-cooked meat are fantastic. All the sushi is very good, with larger portions than most area sushi bars. My particular favorite is their spicy tuna, which is made with hand-cut chunks of fresh tuna, not the leftover bits all mashed up like some places serve. My one suggestion for improvement -- more Vietnamese food on the menu! Meanwhile, everything here is truly first-rate. Get out of Princeton and seek this place out. You won't regret it. read more

Rolls are huge, prices are decent but I usually stick to cooked items. I've been disappointed with their raw stuff in the past but I find I can make do with spicy tuna. I want to start by saying this has always been my favorite local sushi joint ever since it opened. But today something went wrong. I called for takeout.as I normally do. The wait was longer than normal but for good food I don't mind. Tempura roll, spicy tuna roll and some pepper tuna. When I got there the place was empty but my order was ready. When I opened it, the 2 rolls were tucked into the normal sized box, but they seemed to be too big. I had to destroy the first one to get it out. Bummer. And they were weirdly warm. As I continued to eat, each piece completely fell apart as I tried to pick them up. The taste was ok I guess, but the temperature made it less than appetizing. And eating sushi that has fallen apart doesn't do it for me. Only finished half before deciding it wasn't worth it. Not sure. They've always been good. Sushi is delicious and original. My boyfriend and I just recently moved to Philadelphia and I have not found anything as delicious as what they offer at Yummy Sushi, especially for the price. That being said, it is a small family-owned business so if you're going out for a romantic date or if the sight of other people's children upsets you, then maybe it's not the place for you. Great food! I recently became gluten free and always on the look out for new gluten free restaurants. They serve regular, non-gluten free options, along with a few gluten free dishes. Although the gluten free options are limited, all of them taste great. I absolutely love their gluten free chicken pineapple curry fried rice. The spice is not too much, and just PERFECT! I also love/often get their avocado cucumber and sweet potato sushi rolls. Highly recommend for those looking for a place that serves both regular and gluten free foods :). read more

A good value ($8.51 Inc tax) but a very limited selected of rolls (what no spicy tuna in the lunch special?) the food had decent flavor but the California roll, while very large, was very heavy on the rice. They got my order wrong but were nice and accomodating, apologized and fixed quickly. The place was empty as other reviewers have observed. I wonder if they'll stick around. Good prices and decent food for the area. It's in a shopping center and near so many other food options that you really need to be in the mood for this place to get it. They mix all different Asian cuisines: Japanese, Chinese and Thai and what you get are dishes that are decent with a lot of selection but nothing great. The portions are pretty sizable however and you're probably not going to finish it. I know everyone is different but I feel comfortable in saying this based on the fact that I couldn't finish it. ME. Always the same ... 1 eel ... 1 yellowtail ... 1 salmon skin ... and bubble milk black tea ... the rolls were sopping wet when I removed container cover ... then I noticed that there was no salmon skin but plain salmon ... the rice was loose the ... instead of me getting into what was wrong ... Definitely a fan of Yummy Sushi! Small, family owned and operated - and never too crowded. They offer a great menu variety at reasonable prices and the portions are larger then most Japanese restaurants. Also the lunch menu prices are stellar! It's true that they owners have 4 small daughters that are always at the restaurant (not saying that I agree w/ running a business this way) but they are very sweet and polite and do not disturb the customers. Believe it or not the eldest daughter (maybe 12?) actually knows how to divide the check on 2 separate credit cards! It's also true that the place is usually a little dark and chilly...they may be a little skimp on the electric bill BUT they're more then generous in portion sizes & pricing! I would highly suggest the spicy Kani salad w/avocado as an appetizer and any of the special rolls (there's a ton to choose from!) Would definitely recommend if you enjoy fresh and delicious sushi at an authentic, family owned restaurant. read more

I was looking for a good sushi place after moving to Ewing and was delighted to find this place close by. My first order here was the Red Sunset and spider roll. The rolls were presented neatly on a plate and as mentioned earlier the portions were generous. The sushi was delicious and definitely fulfilling. The fish tasted fresh and the soft crab was crispy and not too doughy. I've ordered the same order for takeout several times since then - it's kind of addictive and not inexpensive! read more

Worst Chinese I've ever had possibly worst food I've ever had. I got Chicken Pad Thai which was cheap ramen, with peanuts, tofu and some sauce. If there was any chicken in it I didn't get that far because it was inedible. I also got fried wontons which should be a simple thing but there was no meat, just beans and carrots. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, I just wasted about $50 on food for my family that no one ate. read more

I wrote a review of Yummy in 2013 when they were in their original location near Marrazo's. 7 years later, and we still go to Yummy on a monthly basis, and still love the sushi. The rolls are excellent and much larger than most other sushi restaurants. We almost always get a platter of sashimi and 3 special rolls. Can't recommend Yummy enough.
