First visit to this Panera just off the campus of The College of New Jersey. Walking in, the place was well kept with plenty of room to dine or simply order and take away. I approached the cashier while checking out their bakery products on the back wall and immediately in front of me behind glass. I went with an Everything Bagel, Chive/ Onion Spread and a thin Brownie that winked at me as I spoke with the cashier. Finally, a light roast java to wash it all down. When I spread it all out on my desk, I learned that I would do the spreading. No sweat, knife included. The bagel was fresh, but the soft variety, rather than the crisp chew I prefer. Still, it was acceptable and I enjoyed it. The Brownie was likewise soft, but nicely chocolatey throughout. Half was covered with powdered sugar, giving it a sweet kick without overwhelming the basic premise of these brown squares. Finally, the Joe was hot and tasty from the light roast, which I often like more than the stronger heavier darker roasts. Bottom line, this was a decent late morning snack for a busy day, and I won't hesitate to visit again next time I am near The College.

The sandwich was prepared well. Grilled chicken was just right, not dried up or burnt. The soup was tasty.

Review for Meatheadz - Lawrence Township, NJ…read more After hearing a NJ Transit conductor rave about Meatheadz, I finally decided to check it out--and I'm glad I did. This place absolutely lives up to the hype. I went with the Plain cheesesteak with fried onions and pepper jack cheese on a seeded bun, along with an order of Meatheadz loaded fries. Let me just say, that cheesesteak was a monster. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and swimming in melty cheese--it's easily the best cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly. The portion was so generous I could barely finish it, and for anyone arriving hungry, you definitely won't leave that way. The loaded fries looked fantastic too, but I had to box them up for later (that's how filling the sandwich was). The prices were moderate and fair for what you get, and while the place was busy, the energy felt lively rather than chaotic. All in all, Meatheadz is absolutely worth the trip if you're craving an authentic cheesesteak experience. Rating: 4.25 out of 5

We ordered dinner for the family and tried several dishes so we could sample a bit of everything…read more There were a couple bright spots (the onion rings and ranch were excellent), but overall the meal fell short of expectations. Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich - This was the biggest disappointment. The chicken breast was extremely thick and had a grainy texture that made me wonder if it was chicken breast with rib meat. If that's the case, it gives the impression that quality isn't a priority. The breading also fell off with almost every bite, and the sandwich wasn't well proportioned (one oversized tomato slice that wasn't cut evenly). Most importantly, it didn't taste like Nashville hot at all -- more like "Nashville not." Shrimp Po' Boy - Below average. The shrimp had a slightly fishy taste, and the bread didn't resemble proper po' boy bread. The greens were a spring mix, which felt like an odd choice. Traditional shredded lettuce would have worked much better. I've had po' boys in Louisiana, and while I wasn't expecting complete authenticity, I was expecting something closer to the spirit of the dish. This version missed the mark. Smash Burger - Probably the best of the three mains we ordered, but still just average. I've honestly had better smash burgers at chains like Shake Shack. Sides: The fries were great. We ordered the beer cheese sauce, which was fine but not necessary. The onion rings were the standout -- perfectly crispy with a clean bite. The homemade ranch served with them was excellent. Overall, I really wanted to like this place more, but the food didn't deliver enough for me to return.

The beer cheese was not the best and the pork roll a bit too chunky didn't make a perfect bite. As always they rock the chicken sandwiches out of the park. Juicy, tender, full breast, breaded and crisp. Flavorful ham and nice honey mustard. Keep it up Coop - we will keep coming back and trying different items.

We often have odd dining experiences, from our first date 20 years ago to last month. This is my second time at Boro, my wife has been there a couple more times. What sets this restaurant apart is not just the food, but the service. Genuine smiles when we arrived and left. We were sat next to a couple with 4 kids. Not a big deal for us as we have two. The kids were great. As they were leaving, only 15 minutes after we sat, our server said they paid for our first round. It was such a nice gesture even though they were no problem to us. Ok, the food and drinks. I've been hooked on this cocktail recently, a Paper Plane. I asked if they could make it and they sure could. It requires one specific brand of Italian spirit so I was really impressed. My wife had a cool cosmo with white cranberry juice and elderflower liqueur. The reason I will come here for one thing and one thing only is their Crispy Chicken Appetizer. It's everything that you ever wanted sesame General Tso's chicken to be, and more! Just enough so that you'll lick the bowl clean and order some to go...I did. The lobster risotto and chicken we had for entrees were fantastic. My second drink was a seasonally warm take on an old fashioned that was served with a flaming sugar cube and had me saying mmmm after every sip. The Zeppoles....theyre gluten free!! My wife loses her mind over these every time. Well done, Boro. I can't wait to come back.

We started by ordering the crispy chicken, and I ordered a drink from the bar. The crispy chicken was the highlight of the night--very flavorful. The drink arrived 15 minutes after ordering, when we were halfway through the appetizer. I could see the bartender moving slowly, and I heard other patrons complaining about the wait time. It happens, and if the rest of the experience was good, I wouldn't have even remembered that. Our waitress brought us some bread, which was a bit stale, but the butter was fantastic. Our main courses were very average--I had the grilled branzino, which is a simple dish but just lacked flavor or anything to make it stand out. My husband ordered the short rib pappardelle, and the pasta itself was good. The sauce was very, very heavy due to too much truffle. By the time we finished eating, we were fully sweating because the restaurant was so hot. It was a very hot day, and maybe the air-conditioning was not working. Again, forgivable, but on top of everything else, it made for an unpleasant experience. Overall, it felt overpriced for the food and service.

When I stopped in this week for late lunch of a turkey/swiss sub, the wall menu looked like it had been hung in the last century. Still, it was extensive and provided succor for the famished. It wasn't open for in house dining yet, but the husband wife team were well versed in their menu and demonstrated prodigious production skills. Their strong suit was that everything for the sandwich contents was cut on demand, and thus as fresh as possible; and decent torpedo rolls (really the most important element of the creation) were pulled from a bag only as needed. My Honey Turkey and Swiss hoagie with shredded lettuce, mayo and hot/sweet peppers wasn't zoftig, but ample enough to warm and fill the belly of the beast. I enjoyed it. I have been on a deli kick of late, and FD was about as rewarding as the other local family run shops in the region. Good to help keep all of them in business by chosing mom & pop businesses open and thriving, rather than those factory like places that offer gasoline as a side dish.
