Went to Mizuki to celebrate Mother's Day one day earlier and also it was also the nearest one to The College of New Jersey in Pennington, NJ. This is our second time and I didn't review them the first time because I wanted to make sure it is going to be accurate. The place is not that big but clean and cozy. The only thing though that I noticed was that some of the seats were already ripping. Parking is not a problem at all. Service is good. We had a pleasant, young, tall, and beautiful lady attending to us. Her voice was calm and soothing and she always say, "Take your time". We informed her of our concerns about shrimp allergies and she gave suggestions on what we can order. Their selections are not overwhelming but it's a good line up. Appetizers came quick--too quick and we were too hungry that I wasn't able to take a picture I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura and their gyoza with pork and shrimps while my boys had their vegetable gyoza and none had any allergic reactions Their food were ALL good! Now I can say that this place is a good one to try when in Pennington or when you're going to TCNJ!

    Crispy duck rolls (good)

I had a good first experience here and would like to come back to eat in. I was craving sushi and covered most of my local places, this was just slightly out of my way. I went for the 3 roll lunch for $17. I selected tuna and avo, yellowtail and spicy tuna crunch. I had to try the crispy duck spring rolls too. The rolls on a whole were better than I can get at the few places very close to me. I'd get yellowtail again and the tuna with avo. The spicy one had no crunch and was just ok. It came with soup and salad. Your typical ginger dressing on iceberg but it was very fresh. The miso soup was better than average as well. I liked the spring rolls but wished for more stuffing. I'd possibly get again. I saw other items on the menu that sounded good, and I'd probably try a specialty roll or 2 on a future visit. The lunch specials are varied and I'd even try an entree. A slight round up but as I said, better sushi than many area spots.

This was supposedly Chicken Fried Rice...

Awful Food - could only stomach a few bites before throwing out. Gyoza barely fried on one side and barely warm. Fried rice was pure white and completely tasteless - with no more than 2 TBSP of chicken and a few pieces of vegetables. Total rip off. Hot and Sour soup was passable, but loaded with too much vinegar. I'd rather starve than ever have to eat food from here again. I will same I am very happy I stayed away from the sushi. I'd probably be sick for days with anything raw.

    Chicken Yaki Udon

Wow this restaurant is great! I ordered the Chicken Yaki Udon and added some spice to it. AMAZING!! I ordered ahead of time for it to be ready at 9pm and when I arrived it was ready and the hostess greeted me immediately to give me my order. These noodles were the perfect texture of soft and the flavor was wonderful! The portion was kindof on the smaller side for the price and I wish there was more chicken but nonetheless a great dish. I will be coming back! The restaurant looked clean and nice inside for dine in also.

    Order on door dash

My partner ordered the crispy Thai red snapper for around $30 on door dash and was extremely disappointed with the outcome. The Thai is usually served with a sauce and peppers but the one he got was just dry Thai red snapper. He called the store to understand what happened but was told that the recipe maybe changed and that was it. They're a good establishment but we will not be returning after this.

We just had the most fantastic meal at Mizuki tonight, from start to finish. Our server, CJ, was delightful. He couldn't have been more kind and attentive. We had the yellowtail sashimi appetizer with jalapeño and ponzu sauce, then salmon, yellow belly and striped bass sushi and a yellowtail scallion roll, Philly roll and shrimp tempura roll. They were all delicious. The shrimp tempura roll was so yummy that we ordered a second one! For dessert, we had the tempura fried green tea ice cream and tempura fried banana. Sooo good! The manager even came by to see how our meal was and to ask about our server. We told him that everything had been great and how appreciative we were of CJ's excellent service. We're just visiting the area, but if we're ever passing through again, we will definitely be back!

    Friends having a great time.

This is our go-to Japanese spot in the area. The food is delicious and the ambiance is relaxing. Great for a quick dinner or a night out with a group! So many classic and interesting options.

All of the above were true, and the food was quite good too. Each of us got a lunch special w/ Thai Basil Beef, and it was a good dish. I enjoyed the wonton soup and side of rice too, and it was a really great price for all of that. Service is pretty fast and friendly; the waiter switched our soup orders by accident, but when he came back to bring more stuff, he noticed when we had switched them, which I give him some credit for. Everything is nice and fast, no issues there. Inside, it's a pretty good amount of space, and nice decoration throughout. My friend and I both thought the door to get from the foyer into the restaurant had a really nice design. Everything in there is clean and nicely put together. Men's room was clean too - not very big, but good enough size.

Thus, while service was reasonable, a person shouldn't assume anything about anyone: not these days, nor any era. To give each customer the benefit of doubt is the most basic of refined manners. The food, however, is well prepared and fresh in quality. The restaurant does seem to cater towards a more elderly audience based on the presentation styles and music choices. While the vegetables and shrimp dishes were clearly fused from different cultures to some extent, the fried rice might have had a bit too much salt as diabetes is on the rise these days--so we tend to choose lighter salt in meals. The pricing could also be more reasonable for simple and traditional choices.

The sauce had just enough numbing warmth without overpowering the dish, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. Beyond the appetizer, the restaurant offered a warm atmosphere and attentive service that made the dining experience even better. The presentation was thoughtful, portions were generous, and the flavors tasted authentic and carefully prepared. When it comes to food, I never judge a burger by its bun, so thanks to Yelp for helping me find it. The sign in the window says "Asian fusion" which usually sends me running as it's often a cop-out label for bad mixed-up Asian cooking, but this is authentic y'all, meaning true-to-tradition dishes with a sometimes more contemporary application of ingredients or flavors. The "fusion" part must come from the fact that they have a small Taiwanese section as well as the main Szechuan/Sichuan menu, alongside a few familiar Chinese-American favorites like sesame chicken or broccoli x protein, so you can get that here too. Everything we ordered was phenomenal! Great flavors, generous portions, cooked with confidence and finesse. Compliments to the kitchen - they really know what they're doing. Not a single dish was lacking. They even put out peanuts at the start and serve fresh orange slices at the end of the meal. Very old school. We loved it all: * Salt & white pepper crispy chicken ("Taiwanese specialty") - well-battered and flavored, and perfectly crispy * Taiwanese minced pork rice * Chicken red curry - fabulous, with fresh vegetables and just the right balance of spice * Golden dish (fish) - very special dish in a salted duck egg yolk batter * Beef chow fun * Marinated crispy duck Wish I lived closer, but will definitely come back when we are in the area. Best of the best - very highly recommended!

Here's what was ordered: - Signature Terakawa Ramen - 4.5/5 stars Boasted of rich, lovingly homemade pork bone soup with a good amount of sliced roast pork, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, ginger, scallions, and a jammy egg. The straight thin noodles were al dente. They maintained their texture in the broth, brilliantly. The broth was deep and flavorful. - Pork belly Donburi - 4.5/5 stars The juicy tender pork belly was plentiful, sliced perfectly as their we're not too thick nor paper thin. Their flavor was rich, savory with a balance of sweetness from the soy dashi sauce. Elegantly layered in top of a humongous bowl of seasoned rice, along with a sprinkle of scallions, pickled radishes, and sesame seeds. The photo on their menu does not do it justice. I would have loved a jammy egg to be included to bring the dish to the next level. - Gyoza - 3.5/5 stars 5 pieces of Pan-fried gyoza dumplings with their dumpling sauce. I would prefer them to have been fried a bit more. The balance between their pork and cabbage was even. They were delightfully light in both taste and texture. The service was very good. Both Willie, the owner, and a charming waiter named Sung served us. Sung kept coming over checking in to attest our cups were full, and if we needed anything else.
