I ordered Shrimp Tempura Bento Box. the 2 pieces of shrimp tempura and the 1 piece of Sweet Potato These Tempura was good but a little too much batter, the other pieces of Tempura were weird, 3 made entirely with mash potatoes and 1 piece with mash potato and fish I think pieces of eel. Went to Mizuki to celebrate Mother's Day one day earlier and also it was also the nearest one to The College of New Jersey in Pennington, NJ. This is our second time and I didn't review them the first time because I wanted to make sure it is going to be accurate. The place is not that big but clean and cozy. The only thing though that I noticed was that some of the seats were already ripping. Parking is not a problem at all. Service is good. We had a pleasant, young, tall, and beautiful lady attending to us. Her voice was calm and soothing and she always say, "Take your time". We informed her of our concerns about shrimp allergies and she gave suggestions on what we can order. Their selections are not overwhelming but it's a good line up. Appetizers came quick--too quick and we were too hungry that I wasn't able to take a picture I ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura and their gyoza with pork and shrimps while my boys had their vegetable gyoza and none had any allergic reactions Their food were ALL good! I had a good first experience here and would like to come back to eat in. I was craving sushi and covered most of my local places, this was just slightly out of my way. I went for the 3 roll lunch for $17. I selected tuna and avo, yellowtail and spicy tuna crunch. I had to try the crispy duck spring rolls too. The rolls on a whole were better than I can get at the few places very close to me. I'd get yellowtail again and the tuna with avo. The spicy one had no crunch and was just ok. It came with soup and salad. Your typical ginger dressing on iceberg but it was very fresh. The miso soup was better than average as well. I liked the spring rolls but wished for more stuffing. I'd possibly get again. I saw other items on the menu that sounded good, and I'd probably try a specialty roll or 2 on a future visit. The lunch specials are varied and I'd even try an entree. Awful Food - could only stomach a few bites before throwing out. Gyoza barely fried on one side and barely warm. Fried rice was pure white and completely tasteless - with no more than 2 TBSP of chicken and a few pieces of vegetables. Total rip off. Hot and Sour soup was passable, but loaded with too much vinegar. I'd rather starve than ever have to eat food from here again. I will same I am very happy I stayed away from the sushi. Wow this restaurant is great! I ordered the Chicken Yaki Udon and added some spice to it. AMAZING!! I ordered ahead of time for it to be ready at 9pm and when I arrived it was ready and the hostess greeted me immediately to give me my order. These noodles were the perfect texture of soft and the flavor was wonderful! The portion was kindof on the smaller side for the price and I wish there was more chicken but nonetheless a great dish. I ordered a Sushi & Sashimi Dinner platter on a weekday. I am sorry to say that it was awful. Some of the pieces were almost frozen. Some pieces were tough and I could not eat them. The rice was not sushi rice; it was plain white rice. I don't really understand the positive reviews. Given the large selection of sushi and rolls on the menu I was surprised. Ordered some rolls and a bento box. They were alright, not good enough to order over something new. The rolls that are marked spicy are not spicy, trust me I can't handle real spicy. Service was not good. Didn't bring out the miso soup until the rest of the food came out. Didn't refill water on a few requests. Didn't check up on us or ask if we wanted anything else before the check. The server told me that I didn't write a tip on the receipt, when I was not given a pen and there was no tip line. When I told her the amount she walked away turned around and and tried to confirm really loud my amount. Then she walked away and came back the same distance and yelled that we were good to go. The Thai is usually served with a sauce and peppers but the one he got was just dry Thai red snapper. We just had the most fantastic meal at Mizuki tonight, from start to finish. Our server, CJ, was delightful. He couldn't have been more kind and attentive. We had the yellowtail sashimi appetizer with jalapeño and ponzu sauce, then salmon, yellow belly and striped bass sushi and a yellowtail scallion roll, Philly roll and shrimp tempura roll. They were all delicious. The shrimp tempura roll was so yummy that we ordered a second one! For dessert, we had the tempura fried green tea ice cream and tempura fried banana. Sooo good! The manager even came by to see how our meal was and to ask about our server. We told him that everything had been great and how appreciative we were of CJ's excellent service. We're just visiting the area, but if we're ever passing through again, we will definitely be back! read more

Based on the reviews that I read on here, I was excited to go to this restaurant and try out their food. I decided to go at 1:30 in the afternoon so I would miss lunch and have a more relaxed, quieter environment to eat. When I got there, there was maybe three tables set And we were greeted immediately and brought to a table. That's about where my experience ended. We sat there for over 15 minutes waiting for somebody to come over and greet us or offer us water or ask us for our drink order or even ask us for our food order, but no one did. There were two tables around us that seemed to keep the attention of the staff of the restaurant. So as I said, after 15 minutes of nobody saying anything to us, we got up and left. Not quite sure how quickly I'm going to be going back again but the fact that somebody couldn't even come over and say hello after 15 minutes when they walked past our table numerous times is very disappointing. read more

So disappointed the quality has gone down. I have been a customer for over 7 years and loved picking up the shashimi salad and bento dinner boxes for a quick meal when I didn't have time to cook. We ordered the steak bento boxes and some rolls along with the shashimi salad. We indicated the cooking temperature to be medium rare but got charred chewy awful meat that we could not eat. The salmon in the other bento box was as if it was left in the oven too long and was so hardened I had to saw through it totry to eat it but it was awful. The maki rolls were falling apart and the rice was like the stuff left at the bottom of a rice cooker slightly crunchy. I called to complain and got this response: I can write that you will get a discount on your next order. I asked what the discount was and she said whoever is working the register will decide! I was like are you kidding me so I am at the mercy of whomever is working and if they are feeling generous!?? Needless to say I am done with this restaurant and I won't ever go back. We are here for a second time. That means something to the Mrs.and me. We just wanted to make sure. We sat down and were greeted by the same server, Zoe I believe, she recognized us from 5 or 6 weeks ago and sat us at a different table. The decor is excellent for Asian Fusion, contemporary yet eastern. Zoe brought us water and gave us a few. I ordered a Sapphire martini (martini's are gin and vermouth everything else is just a cocktail) spouse ordered a mixed drink. After 50 years of marriage I understand two things: first never order the spouses food for her and second, she will never order the same drink twice in a row...always something different. We started with Shiitake Mushroom Asparagus Stirred fired with mushroom sauce $7.00, nicely plated (everything always is!) something different and quite a nice start to the meal. We both love Shiitake mushrooms and asparagus. That was quickly followed by the Fried Jumbo Soft Shell Crab ($10.50). Crispy and juicy with mild dipping sauce that I put on the greens when we finished the crab. I am quite happy that we each had an individual crab. I would have not been willing to share! With my meal I got soup or salad. I picked the soup. As a side note, ever since we went to Malaysia, I always judge an Asian restaurant by the quality of their Hot & Sour. This is a 9 on a scale of 1-10. You can only get a ten in Malaysia. The soup: Hot & Sour Soup is Vegetable base but has eggs, mushroom, seaweed, tofu and others veggies, spicy and always a bit sour. To bring out a bit more flavor a quick shake of soy is a nice touch. For our main course spouse had a glass of Chardonnay with her tempura Jumbo Shrimp & Chicken with candied walnuts. They do an excellent tempura at Mizuki. If you like tempura, and who doesn't, you will not be dissatisfied. Shrimp were a good size, chicken was moist and the glazed walnuts were out of this world! $23.00. I enjoyed the Spicy Maki Combo, $20.50, a good deal since mine came with the soup! Spicy crunchy tuna, salmon, yellowtail rolls. I enjoyed my rolls with the wasabi/soy mix and a nice Kirin Beer. Really flavorful and I cannot remember the last time I has sushi...before the pandemic for sure...Fantastic! Our finishing touches were a mango ice cream dipped in white chocolate with whipped cream sitting on a tablespoon of orange marmalade which I enjoyed with a second martini. Spouse had Ice cream tempura. I think she was maxed out on tempura but she ate it all anyway. As a note, we took home enough for a nice late night snack. Thank you again Zoe. See you soon! read more

I've been eating here since a couple of years and finally got a quickie to review. Have been here only for lunch and their lunch specials are delicious, bursting with fresh flavors and budget friendly. For about $11 you get a main dish, soup and a cool crunchy salad. We ordered spicy mango chicken which was good and a large portion, thai curry lunch special which was delicious and Tom yum soup which was just ok, mostly tangy and did not have any creamy coconut flavor to it. Ordered take out last night. Ordered 3 basic rolls, spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail. In all the years I've been eating sushi this is the first time all 3 rolls had the same fishy taste. Horrible... I took my first bite of the salmon and it tasted weird. I didn't say anything and took a piece of the tune. The same fishy taste. I turned to my wife and she confirmed. Because of COVID - most of my favorite sushi restaurants shut down and I was not able to have sushi for months. Mizuki sushi does contactless delivery and pickup and even off curbside pickup services. I was finally able to get sushi again! Their food is always very fresh and delicious. The ambience of the inside of the restaurant is very nice, and when you go in to pick up your carry out order (wearing a mask, of course) you can see the chefs inside working hard to prepare orders. Their sushi is pretty good, service is very fast, and it's conveniently located. The prices are not too outlandish, especially if you opt for a lunch special. Ingredients all taste fresh, and the spicy mayo is tasty, though I'm not a big fan of mayo, so I don't eat that much of it. I've usually gotten a combination of rolls, some salmon, some tuna. All lunch specials come with soup and salad. Soups are good, but the dressing on the salad is kind of concentrated into one spot rather than mixed, and because it's a thicker dressing, it's hard to get evenly distributed.
