While waiting for my other half at a nearby beauty salon, I decided to give Asian House - Chinese and Japanese Cuisine a try. Tucked into Bordentown, the restaurant surprised me with its spacious interior. At first glance, the décor does feel a bit dated, but it's clear the place is very well maintained--immaculately clean, which made a great first impression. The service was friendly and quick, and the prices were more than reasonable. I started with the steamed pork dumplings, which were excellent--tender and flavorful. For the main course, I went with the Seafood Delight. The dish was lightly seasoned, allowing the freshness of the seafood to really shine through. Overall, the food was satisfying, and the experience was pleasant. It's a solid neighborhood spot, and I can see myself coming back the next time my wife is at the salon. Quick and timely in and out for our take away sushi order. Our daughter lives about 10 minutes away, making the Asian House a prime spot for our sushi fix and close enough that take away works well. We were in and out in under 5 minutes. We noticed their dining room is now open, post Covid. Likely it has been open for sometime but it's more than a year since we stopped in. This house is the best house. Asian house is with full transparency and honest one of my favorite places to get General Tso's chicken. Supposedly it's pronounced like "saos" but my white self am just thankful for the cuisines blessing. Experiencing tastes of more than salt and paper really bring joy to my life and the sticky white rice is oh so sticky and oh so good! After reading some of the reviews before hand I was hesitant to try this place, but being one of the only places in the area I was hoping for the best. Unfortunately, the quality did not live up to the expectations that I was hoping for. The food was just average, if that. It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't say it was good either. It was also rather expensive for what it was, especially the sushi. Any place that charges $7 for a California roll is insane. We ended up not getting any sushi for that reason. We had the Thai red curry and the chicken with garlic sauce. I will give them props on the presentation of the food (check the pics). The thai red curry came out sizzling on a fajita pan like you'd expect to see at Mexican restaurant. It was not what you expect to get when you order a Thai curry. It was more of a stir fry with a sauce on top than a soup. It was also rather bland. The chicken with garlic sauce was very sweet and the chicken was rubbery and poorly cooked, almost comparable to a TV dinner. My friend and I were recently in the mood for sushi, so we found somewhere close and new to try out. As we walked in we realized we were the only ones eager to dine on a slow Tuesday evening. However, there did seem to be a good number of people getting take-out, and a few couples came in after us. We ordered shrimp rangoon to share, I stuck to sushi for my meal, and my friend went with the Pad Thai. The sushi is just what I expect it to be and the plain rolls really hit the spot. I had a little of everything and I was stuffed, unable to finish my food! The Pad Thai was really yummy, so I jumped at another opportunity to come back later in the week. The second time around, we started the meal with our favorite hot and sour soup. This was by far the best variety my family has ever tasted (and we've tried a lot of hot and sour)! For entrees, I stuck to my tried and true crunchy tuna and fresh salmon rolls. My mom went with the Pad Thai and I couldn't help myself but to have some more of it! My dad went with a different dish, the Red Thai Curry Scallops. The skillet came out sizzling hot, as the scallops and vegetables rested in a bubbling creamy Curry sauce. Not the healthiest choice, but definitely one of the tastiest! The flavors of the creamy coconut paired well with the red curry and was really phenomenal. This place is also BYOB so make sure to bring some wine or beers to have with your meal! I would definitely recommend the Pad Thai or sushi to any fans, as they are spot on here. Unassuming restaurant in an obscurely placed shopping center. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and very quiet with, at most, 6 dine in patrons. However, many customers came and went with their to-go orders. Our server was kind and attentive, but not overbearing, allowing my date and I enjoy a nice dinner and conversation. The food did not disappoint! We ordered three sushi rolls: one spicy salmon, one house special roll, and one pink lady - all delicious and satiating. We also ordered a couple of egg rolls, which were cooked to perfection. Overall, everything was delicious and plated so nicely. While this is place is a little out of the way to be a regular stop, I'll be sure to come back to try some other menu items. Asian House sits in the Mallard Shopping Centre on northbound Route 130. It is pretty far south of Bordentown, so don't give up hope if you don't see it right way if you are travelling south. The space is very nicely appointed for a Chinese/American shop trying to be all things Asian for the hungry public. There are Sushi, Thai and Chinese options on the menu. I went Chinese for my first visit as I knew it was owned/operated by Fujianese folks from the Mainland. I opted for Szechuan Chicken (extra spicy), which came with Wonton Soup and Pork Fried Rice. The soup was not good. It was a mass produced beef stock tinted brown from the dye in the can it came from. The wontons were thick and not very tasty. The Chicken dish was better. The meat was fresh and the veggies colorful. The sauce lacked much in the way of red Szechuan chilies, and was not hot enough despite asking for extra heat. I think the kitchen was on autopilot and just turned out what they normally do and ignored my request. At least it was decent, even lacking the spice. The Fried Rice was better than average with the grains still distinct and veggies firm. The best thing Asian House has going for it is Misty, the woman running the front of the house. She was friendly, engaging, helpful, and prompt with service. She singlehandedly made my lunch a memorable one, and provided the motivation to return to try other features of their menu. read more

This place has gone downhill in the worst way! It deserves NO STARS. I ordered 5 dishes last night for takeout (General Tso's chicken, Tofu, Lo Mein, Crispy Beef, and Dragon Phoenix) and 2 soups (Hot and Sour, Wonton). The food was just awful. In fact, every dish was cooked in the same brown salty, oily sauce including the General Tsos! Not only that but the chicken was mostly batter and fat and the hot and sour soup was tasteless. The crispy beef was not crispy and was soggy and chewy. I only live 5 minutes away and picked up the food right after cooking so no excuse for getting soggy in transit. My bill was almost $80 and I can honestly say the low quality stuff they sell at the food court in the mall is much better. We will never ever return to this restaurant. Absolutely awful. All 6 of us eating equally hated it and I ended up tossing the food in the garbage. read more

Of the Chinese restaurants in the area we like this one the best. Their menu is pan Asian with Thai and Japanese dishes and sushi. We have eaten in several times but mostly do take out. Their service is prompt and accommodating. The kitchen is willing to customize dishes for your dietary needs and spice preference. They are quick to prepare a take out order. I've never had to wait longer than originally confirmed. There are sufficient tables to accommodate larger groups. The decor is a bit old fashioned but nice and comfortable like in NYC's Chinatown. The shrimp did not have a very seafood-y flavor like at Jade Island, portions are VERY large and its not very greasy. Thanks to Yelp and the people who have given the Asian House good reviews we decided to try it tonight for dinner. The place is new and clean. Staff was very nice and attentive. We ordered steamed dumplings and wonton soup to start. Dumplings were good my husband loved them. Soup was good, wontons were a little thick but I'm used to getting it at pf changs where they are much thinner wontons Broth had a very good flavor. I ordered moosho pork a bit salty but very good. It wasn't just a pile of stuff either you could actually identify all the veggies and meat on the plate. I have dined in and ordered takeout from this place and the several times been here, I have not been disappointed. The most recent time, I dined in and ordered something a little spicy. I went with the chicken with peanut sauce. The waitress did ask me about my "hot" tolerance, as I found out, this dish was Thai spicy. I did request to keep the temp down. At first taste, the chicken was good, and the pepper (Thai) was not hot. As you go on, the heat does creep up on you, and by the time I was done, my lips were numb and I had gone through 3 glasses of iced tea. It reminds me of a good Cajun crawfish boil from Louisiana which is a good thing. The variety of the menu also impressed me- Japanese, Chinese and Thai. Anyone should be able to find something they like on here - from sushi, lo mein and pad Thai. The restaurant appeared to be very clean, but not very big (and dark). The sushi appetizer featured two pieces each of four types of fish and the duck roll consisted of slices of seasoned duck (tasted like five spice) and cucumber in a thin wrap (not fried). Food is usually good. BUT Tonight I ordered their $18 Seafood Pan Fried Noodles. However what I got was what I would call Seafood LoMein. They don't pan fry the noodles and the drench them in the sauce. Had really wanted traditional Pan Fried noodles like I have had many, many times and other restaurants. Instead of offering something else of removing it from the bill when I called them, they were trying tell me that is Pan Fried noodles. Then they changed their story and said, that's how WE make Pan Fried noodles. Had I known I would not have spent the very high price for something I really didn't want. Since moving to Florence, where this place is technically located, I had noticed a dearth of good restaurants in town. I am happy to report, that there is finally a great place to eat in town. If it helps, this place is located in front of the Mallard Creek development. When you first walk in you will notice the open, inviting decor. Unlike many places, who seem to feel that people love eating elbow to elow, there is plenty of open space around each table. The room in decorated sparsely, but sufficiently, notably lacking cheesy tchotchkes. Simply put, the food was superb! I had the red curry chicken and my wife had the chicken and broccoli. The chicken had just the right amount of sauce, which was a complex mixture of coconut and curry, with hints of several spices too subtle to stand out. The peppers, tofu, and carrots in the dish were crisp, which is a hallmark of well prepared Chinese food. My wife's chicken and broccoli was also excellent. I have come to expect a generic taste for the dish, but this was anything other the common. It was well spiced and sparsely sauced, so you knew you were eating chicken and broccoli not mystery meat covered in enough sauce a small animal could drown in. Like in the my dish, her broccoli was quite crisp. After noticing that they had a sushi bar, I had to order a very reasonably priced yellow fin hand roll. The sushi was fresh and prepared with the usual skill. While it wasn't anything complex, it was enough to know that the sushi there good, not an afterthought. The wait staff handled us perfectly. Our two waiters were there when we needed them and never when we didn't. They were also exceptionally polite. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the value. The place has noticeably better food, in my opinion, than Sunny Garden outside of Princeton, but is significantly cheaper. We walked out of there paying a mere $30 for a dinner we were wowed by. That doesn't happen often. I have a similar feeling to the previous reviewer. Rarely do I visit a restaurant twice in a quarter, but I intend on going there for lunch some time this week after having dinner there last night. read more

The food was good there. I had assorted sashimi and although I wanted more variety then did not have everything on the menu. I don't fault them for that. Sushi grade fish might be harder to get and I would rather not get it than get old fish. What I had was good with no bad tasting pieces. Presentation was clean and no wasteful use of greenage or vegetables. Tempora ice cream was good. My wife had hibatchi and it is weird to get without watching and getting food thrown at you. It was good. I would go back. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. Menu had a large selection of Japanese, Chinese and Thai fishes. I am a sushi fan and that is what I got. Fantastic location ;) (I live in the neighborhood), nice ambiance and it's byob! What else could you ask for? A nice mix of Chinese, Japanese and Thai foods on the menu. I've dined in and taken out at this new restaurant and have been pleased both times. Having recently moved from the NYC area, I can't give it 5 stars because the quality of sushi isn't up to par with some Asian restaurants that we used to frequent in Hoboken but it will definitely become a regular spot for us when craving a good sushi roll. So far we've had their sushi, chicken lo mien and chicken with red curry. My personal fav so far is definitely the red curry because of the assorted veggies that come in it and how mild the coconut curry sauce is. I will absolutely have this again.
