Rice: Good rice should pull a meal together; here, the rice is sooo dry and cheap and just SUCKS. Reminds me of that terrible Chinese fast food joint around the corner. The pho is delicious. Everything about their food is pure perfection. I can't say enough good things about Yummy Thai.

My coworkers and I usually go here for lunch, but this time, the experience is different. Their food is hit or miss. The Pad Thai is either too spicy or too mild. Try going on 2 different days and ask for a level 2. Two completely different spectrum. I order Pho today. It is a huge disappointment. I don't know why I order Pho from a Thai restaurant. The broth is not clear. If you have been to a Pho restaurant, you know the broth is clear. Yummy Thai didn't skim the broth. You can see the bone marrow and fat floating around. The rare beef is well done. I don't like to waste food but I could not finish this bowl. I also order the Vietnamese egg roll. Disgusting. It makes Bistro B's egg roll taste great and I don't even like Bistro B's egg rolls. Service, let's talk about the non-existed service. It's slow. My group arrived before another group did. They got their food first. We were ready to pay; They took a long time to drop our checks. Checking out was bad as well. We waited in line to pay. We got so fed up that we were about to leave cash on the table. It's not a fast food restaurant. I don't know why the staff is running around treating it like one. I have been to a couple of restaurants that are busy as them and with maybe 1 or 2 waiter/waitress short, yet they manage to keep it under control. It's chaos at Yummy Thai. A coworker and I stopped in to order takeout for lunch. The service is lacking and the food...meh. The lunch special is soup of the day, appetizer and entrée for $8.99. I ordered thai basil with beef and a spring roll. The soup was Tom Kha. I didn't like the soup or the spring roll and the thai basil was just okay. My coworker ordered the same thing but with chicken. When I asked why mine was $1 more, the waitress/cashier said beef is more expensive. I asked why they don't say that on the menu. She said it does and I said no and pointed to where it says shrimp and seafood are more. She flipped to the dinner menu instead of the lunch menu that we ordered from and there it was in small type in another section. I guess you need to read every word on the menu before ordering. And it's not the dollar, I would have ordered beef any way. I just found it poor service. Watching them try to dish our order for carryout was comical. My coworker described it best...this is like a Lucy and Ethyl show. On a side note, we watched them dump a bowl of steamed rice that was sitting in the pickup window back into the pot. Despite some of the bad reviews I read, my boyfriend and I gave this place a shot last night. Overall, im glad we did. The medium spicey papaya salad was on point! It was bursting with flavors and burning my mouth from the Thai chilies. Chicken pad Thai was equally delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated and great for lunch or dinner. Service here is good, not fantastic. It was pretty full last night and I don't think they had enough waitresses. There's a bar there with a few drink options and huge tv. Not a typical place I would go for a drink. They should do away with it and add more dinner tables. Unless, they were to offer happy hour drinks and Thai snack options. The beat Thai place around. The food is tasty , pleasant vibe and friendly staff. I like Thai food the best amongst other Asian cuisines and hence always try to explore different places, but once I got to taste yummy Thai there is no going back for me. We ordered potstickers which was of great taste to begin with. I don't like being unfair. Second time I've had their food. First time was great. I had my usual starter of Tom Kha w/chicken. Great. Then I had some type of curry plate but don't remember. Great as well. This time I ordered via Grubhub. Pad See Ew. Was delicious. 5 stars all the way. The soup was probably the worst I've ever had. Which makes me think that maybe it was a mistake. Maybe they sent a different soup. The color was close and ingredients were right for the most part. I've noticed they can vary from place to place. The flavor was horrible. Go to Noodlewave instead. Food and service are better. Muslims out here- support Muslim businesses instead. The food here is good, and they say they have halal chicken. But when you ask them to cook your halal chicken in a pot that hasn't been used for non-halal meat or pork, they don't want to do it. There are also NO Covid precautions in place. Servers walked around unmasked, and there's no spacing between tables. To Yummy Thai- if you want Muslim business, you're gonna have to uphold Muslim values/courtesy as well. read more

Really good Thai place, the atmosphere is nice, it's nice to dine in, or take out. I usually order for pick up, and it's ready within 15-20 mins. They give you very decent sized portions. I usually have enough left over for lunch the next day. My favorite is their Panang curry. read more

I've tried this place a couple of times (several for delivery and once dine-in). While the red curry is the best I've had in DFW, the service is absolutely terrible for what they charge. They "skimp" on everything from the amount of rice they give you to the egg roll sauces. The staff is rude. Each time I've ordered for delivery it's been late and they've never attempted to even try to deliver it to my door. Every time they call and very rudely (demand) me to come down to the entrance. I paid $31+ dollars, the least you could do is try to wait or get in the gate. While I enjoy the food, I'm finding a new Thai go-to after tonight. read more

I've waited until I'd eaten here several times with different orders to write this. One way to tell if a Thai place is legit is they'll offer Lao style of some of their dishes. Yummy Thai does. Another way you can tell if a Thai place is legit is if they offer Boat Noodles and the waiter cautions you from ordering it because it has blood. Yummy Thai does. And yes, traditional Boat Noodles have blood along with a TON of other herbs and spices, and it's indescribably good. I've also had the Green and Panang Curries. Both were phenomenal. I've had the Larb Gai - amazing. The Long Life Noodles were delish, and the Sum Tum Thai (papaya salad) was perfect. With each dish, the spice preference was pretty much exactly as we expected. And unless you're really hungry, expect to take some home. The portions were generous. I saw a lot of the lower rated reviews here seemed more service related. I've been there during the lunch rush (best value in Irving hands down), and while they were indeed busy, they were busting their butts to cover everyone. I'm generally a little more forgiving when a restaurant is that busy, but I see them making a thorough effort to take care of everyone consistently. Especially when the food is this good. I drive to the place and the sign is still on saying their open and I see orders lined up on the counter. If they would rather close at 10pm, they need to update their hours and signs because that would be better than lying to a customer.
