He was very rude, and seemed so annoyed by my presence. I had 3 watches which needed battery replacements. One of them didn't function properly after he replaced the battery so I went back again the next day. He saw me, rolled his eyes and heaved a heavy sigh. He was defensive, but finally took a look at the watch. He fixed the problem and gave me the watch back without looking at me. Don't waste your time going here unless you have a watch that's worth more than 1,000 dollars. He won't care about you and he'll overcharge you. I recently had my Lord Elgin overhauled in Chicago by some of the best watch repairmen in the area. I dropped my watch and now it's running 3-5 minutes fast. He would not even touch the watch, he claimed that it needed an overhaul, without any inspection. He refused to even adjust the watch like I needed (a simple 5 minute procedure that he was charging far too much for). The service here was absolutely awful. I certainly will never return. read more

Yuri's is awesome. So Yuri himself is tucked away to the left when you first enter the store. I learned this the hard way by barging in and telling my whole story to the clerks of the jewelry shop that he shares space with. I had to go in to get an old gift watch of mine repaired because the face had dislodged numbers and the movement itself seemed to be tilted. Yuri is a quiet man but extremely friendly and efficient. I just handed him my watch and told me "This will take 15 minutes" all while he was working on another watch simultaneously. Being in a watch shop I felt that it would be appropriate to see if he would deliver on his promise. 12.8 minutes later he says, "ok all done." He returns my watch to me with the time and date all lined up to the correct time and date (department of redundancy department much?). All of this for a very reasonable rate. If you're looking to simply install a new battery for your quartz watch or adjust a strap, a lot of shops downtown can do the job. But if you need more complex work (i.e. overhauls, new parts, etc), I highly recommend Yuri. I've taken a few watches to Yuri, including one piece that another watch repair professional couldn't fix. This guy fixed my watchband quickly and replaced it with another. I think that cost around $50. That seems like a lot to me, and as it turns out the watchband proved to be uncomfortable. So I bought a watch tool from Amazon ($9), and a better band ($15, eBay), and did it myself. However, this guy didn't mess around, so I appreciate that. He quoted me a price and did the work in a few minutes. Maybe the cost is pretty standard, so I can't complain about that. read more

I don't know much about watches, but my review is in regards to customer service. After showing up twice during open hours to find Yuri was not there, I finally caught him coming back from his lunch break. He was uninterested, barely said anything, and didn't even take out his headphones to speak to me. He waved my broken watch off and said "at least $160". I had to pry for an explanation of what was to be done and whether there were any other options. It was clear he didn't want to work on my watch. Overall major lack of professionalism, perhaps these reviews raised my expectations too high. read more

Brought my new watch in that did not work, silly me didn't realize I had to pull a small piece of plastic off that I thought was part of the watch in order to get it started. Took a 20-year-old Robert Lee Morris women's watch in for a battery change and cleaning. Robert Lee Morris doesn't service their watches or even have suggested repair shops anymore. No other repair shops would work on it--they were afraid they'd damage it because they were unfamiliar with it but it's a chance worth taking since it is otherwise just a bracelet. Yuri replaced the watch, polished it nicely so that scratches are unseen and it looks as good as it has in probably 15 years or more. I was desperately in need of a new watch battery. Last time I had changed my battery, the previous store I had taken it to kept the watch for several days as they had to go get a specialized battery for it. So I decided to check out somewhere else. I walked in on a busy, beautiful Saturday in Copley square without calling ahead. Within seconds of walking in the door I was greeted by a sales associate, as Yuri's watches also sells beautiful jewelry. The sales associate directed me to Yuri. Yuri was very quiet, took the watch from me, quietly uttered $15 (which is the same price I've paid at several other Boston stores) as he was already dismantling the watch. I have a Kate Spade watch that wouldn't stay latched so I brought it back to the Kate Spade store to see if they could replace it. I had a great experience at Yuri's several months ago. After (stupidly) getting into a hot tub with my Victorinox, the watch filled with condensation and stopped working a few days later. For a reasonable price, Yuri removed all the corrosion, rebuilt the interior, replaced the battery, cleaned the entire watch, and restored it to good working order... all within several hours. The only reason I am writing a review is because everyone else has repaired links or batteries. I went in to fix the chronograph on my automatic Tag Heuer. I honestly expected him to tell me to pick it up within a few days. Just a heads up, this guy only wants to know how he can fix your watch. I walk in, he asks me what needs to be fixed. Then, he takes my watch and takes it apart in seconds and gives me a price and a time it will be done. He said it would only take 30 minutes and cost $60. After 30 minutes, I return. He seemed to get a lot of traffic while I was gone but all they customers wanted battery changes. Since it only takes a few seconds, I understood his choice of bumping me down. After another 15 minutes, my watch was done. I ended up tipping him an extra $10 because I was so thankful that I could get my watch back within the same day. Just be thankful that this place is tucked in a little corner with little advertising because you would not know it was there if it wasn't for reviews. Any review under a 4 has got to be a mistake of identity. This guy knows his stuff. read more
