My girlfriend wanted to treat me to ramen and we came across Yusan on Yelp. We walk in - and were seated instantly. We ordered our drinks - which were cans of pop (so you don't get free refills). I ordered a spicy ramen dish, and she ordered a rice dish. Both were pretty tasty and we each enjoyed our own. We got a dynamite roll to share (mostly I got it, because she isn't fond of sushi . . . . yet..) It was also very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My biggest complaint with Yusan, was the restroom situation. When i went to the men's bathroom to wash my hands, there wasn't enough soap in the bottle to get any out. There also wasn't any paper towels. My husband can finally try out their ramen. Honestly, their ramen is alright, not too bad, but not hot enough, even when it's just served onto the table. We ordered a Tonkotzu ramen for my kids, and a Yusan signature ramen. We have eaten better ramen, hut around this area, this is not too bad if you looking for ramen or some type of soup noodle. I also ordered a scallop sashimi, which I already expect not to have top quality on that. I believe even Wegman serves better than here. Following are two signature rolls: Sunset roll and Rainbow naruto roll. Both i think are delicious. Their service wasn't bad either. We waited for awhile for the food to come even though the places wasnt busy(2pm), it was a rainy day so we decided to get some soup. the Ramens were served first but was NOT hot anymore in fact its not even warm like leaning towards to being cold in a minute but we didnt mind no more cause we were hungry (2:30pm late lunch) still a 4 star because we all liked it still, noodles was pretty good and slice pork was really tasty. 3 rolls sushi was very little for the price, specifically the shrimp tempura (one in the middle) but then yeah again we still all liked it. Really good sushi that's very close to the highway so great pit spot. I ordered pickup for me and my boyfriend and they were extremely friendly. He asked to use the bathroom and they were super accommodating and welcoming. Afterwards, we got our food and continued on our way to PSU. I ordered the sushi combo C, all of which were very fresh. Boyfriend had the pork fried rice, which was also very tasty and generously portioned. I'm new to the area and I'm very glad I found a great, local sushi bar. I'm a big fan of their lunch specials. I like their 3 roll deal for $12 plus a side of miso soup or salad! Such an amazing deal! Also their sushi is really fresh and delicious. They have lots of great choices. During Covid they're taking great precautions as well. No one is allowed to eat in the dining room at the moment, take out only. Their employees are wearing masks and socially distancing. They only allow customers to enter one door and it's pick up only. You must order over the phone. So very safe which I like considering sushi is susceptible to contamination. I love this place and I'll keep coming back! read more

Great restaurant if you are looking for (the closest you can get to) authentic Japanese food in the area - and with an extensive menu of Japanese food that is NOT sushi. They have great sushi and a wide variety for every type of diet (vegans like me included!) - the staff are also willing to substitute certain items if you have a special diet like me! The waitress offered a choice between chili paste or chili oil for an up charge of $1. While it was better to add my own desired heat, the up charge was unnecessary in my opinion. We tried their Philadelphia roll, spicy yellow tail roll, something else with salmon and eel with cucumber rolls. Perfection. Seriously. I lived in Okinawa for three years and this is as good. Missed good sushi since retired up here from Queens, NY. So very glad we tried them. Going back soon to steam faces over fresh ramen! 4 1/2 STARS Yusan is by far the best sushi and sashimi restaurant in the area. We have eaten here at least 4 times. Each time we enjoyed beautiful fresh fish and and other delights. On our latest visit, I started with delicious vegetable gyoza - gently fried served with an excellent dipping sauce. Vegetable gyoza are one of my standard appetizers. Yusan's are among the best. My wife started with "clear soup" with a generous portion of sliced mushrooms and vegetables, followed by "tuna ceviche" that was quite reminiscent of one of my favorite dishes - ahi poke. This was generously sized and rich in flavor. My wife also dined in a selection of vegetable and fish rolls. For my entree I selected the trio of tuna, salmon and yellowtail sashimi. I supplemented this with portions of saba (lightly marinated mackerel. The servings of each of these fish were ample and delicious. I've dined on the 18-piece sashimi platter (complete with miso soup and a side of rice). The fish was great and the chef prepared the dish in record time. Family owned business, really nice people. I've been completely spoiled by NYC's ramen spots so I am a snob to say the least when it comes to ramen. The ramen is passable here. The garlic oil overwhelmed the broth completely. Unfortunately, it just wasn't something I enjoyed. The sushi however, was pretty good. Nothing fell apart, everything tasted as it should and it was quite satisfactory to me. The prices are a bit high compared to NYC standards even during a pandemic, but since it seems to be the only sushi and ramen place around, there's no competition to drive down the cost.
